Report Queries Rendering Issue

I'm having real trouble generating RTF reports from Report Queries using BI Publisher. When i copy the url into a button link the output is below
{\rtf1\ansi\deff0 {\fonttbl {\f0 Arial;} {\f1 Times;} {\f2 Courier New;} {\f3 Helvetica;} } {\colortbl ; \red0\green0\blue0; \red221\green221\blue221; \red239\green239\blue239; } {\info {\title } {\doccomm Generated by Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.3.3} } \formshade\viewkind1\viewbksp1\uc1\dntblnsbdb \paperw15840\paperh12240\margt1800\margb1800\margl1320\margr1320\landscape {\header \pard\itap0\qc\sl0\lin120\rin120 \par } {\footer \pard\itap0\qr\sl0\lin120\rin120 {\f3\fs16\cf1 \chpgn}\par \pard\itap0\qc\sl0\lin120\rin480 \par } \trowd \trhdr \trleft12 \clcbpat2\clbrdrt\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrb\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrl\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrr\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1 \cellx13252 \pard\intbl\sl0\lin108\rin108 {\f3\fs16\cf1 CONTACT LABEL}\cell \trowd \trhdr \trleft12 \clcbpat2\clbrdrt\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrb\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrl\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrr\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1 \cellx13252 \row \trowd \trleft12 \clcbpat3\clbrdrt\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrb\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrl\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrr\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1 \cellx13252 \pard\intbl\sl0\lin108\rin108 {\f3\fs16\cf1 Adrian Jones}\line {\f3\fs16\cf1 BRITISH SKY BROADCASTING}\line {\f3\fs16\cf1 GRANT WAY}\line {\f3\fs16\cf1 ISLEWORTH}\line {\f3\fs16\cf1 LONDON MIDDLESEX}\line {\f3\fs16\cf1 SW1E 5JL}\cell \trowd \trleft12 \clcbpat3\clbrdrt\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrb\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrl\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1\clbrdrr\brdrs\brdrw10\brdrcf1 \cellx13252 \row \pard\itap0\sl0\lin120\rin120 {\*\bkmkstart page_total_master0}{\*\bkmkend page_total_master0}{\*\bkmkstart page_total}{\*\bkmkend page_total}\par }
I expect an attachment box with an RTF file to download. When i use the test functionality within shared components>report queries an RTF is generated. Why when i use the link is the RTF not been rendered. I'm using the latest version of apex with an 11g database. I have had trouble with the access control list before; could this be a problem?
Any help will appreciated
Thanks
Kevin

It looks like the issue is within the application and not the configuration as the sample application within the same workspace is okay. Does anyone know why i would encounter an error like this. Have i deleted something accidentally or altered a setting?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin

  • Report Queries issue

    Dear friends,
I am working with Oracle APEX 4.2.2.00.11, I tried to create a report with more than one "Source Queries", the issue is when I run the report or test the report just the first source query run and printing in print lay out. the second or third one didn't print. I tested it with PDF,HTML,... output format, the results are the same.
Please let me know how to fix it.

What do you mean by "more than one Source Queries"? Is it a classic or an interactive report?

  • SSRS web based report viewer control rendering issues - text getting clipped chopped off

    Hi,
I am using web based SSRS report viewer control to display SSRS reports in browsers like Chrome, FF, IE, Safari etc. My issue is some text is getting chopped off (clipped) in all cells of some reports. I investigated on my end by analyzing generated HTML
and I could see a problem in the HTML that report viewer control is generating. But I am afraid to apply any HTML or Javascript hacks at the moment considering we have hundreds of reports.
You can see in above image how text got chopped off. The problem in HTML (given below) is the text has been wrapped in a div tag with a fixed height. If I remove the height and also padding on parent TD, the text appears properly.
    <td class="A23dfe7c5f99245f2a0db522a22a6035597c" style="HEIGHT:5.00mm;background-color:#d3d3d3;"><div style="HEIGHT:3.24mm;overflow:hidden;"><table lang="en-US" cellspacing="0"
    cellpadding="0" border="0" class="Pd9776e5f7eaf4df696265b8b49d1da39_1_r17"><tbody><tr><td class="A23dfe7c5f99245f2a0db522a22a6035597" style="word-wrap:break-word;white-space:pre-wrap;">MyType11</td></tr></tbody></table></div></td>
Please let me know if you have faced a similar scenario before.

    Hi Murtaza,
According to your description, when you display the report with Report Viewer control, the data within the text is cutoff.
Based on my research, the issue could cause by that Arial Unicode MS font hasn’t been installed on the server where Reporting Services run. Besides, when we use ReportViewer control to render report, we’d  better set
AsyncRendering="true" in the Report Viewer control. Also please run the IE with compatibility mode. For more information, please refer to similar threads below:

  • Report Viewer icon rendering issue with web controls

    Hi,
I have a sample application in ASP.NET 2.0 in which if I have a report viewer control in an aspx page and when I try to browse the page the report renders properly with all icons image also. But in the same application I am having a web user control that is having the report viewer control and I have added this control on another page. Now if I try to browse this page the report is rendered properly but the icon images are not displayed rather as 'X' is displayed indicating images are missing.
    Thanks
    Kajal

It sounds like the CrystalReportViewer control does not "agree" with the .NET control you are embedding it in. Can you be more specific with the exact steps to duplicate this issue? It would be helpful to know what controls you are using.
Viewing the source code will be helpful in your troubleshooting. You'll also want to review your IIS logs to see what error are popping up there. It could be that the gifs are being searched for in another location. You may need to make a copy of the crystalreportviewerxx directory in a new location.

  • SSRS Report queries begin running slowly, have to stop and start report server to restore performance

We have had a production issue crop up twice now where reports begin running slowly seemingly at random.
When this happens we can see from running SQL Profiler that the report queries are taking an extremely long time to execute.  The same queries when run directly in management studio run quickly.
Initially I suspected parameter sniffing, and tried using OPTION (RECOMPILE) in the reports, as well as clearing out the particular query from the plan cache and running the SQL in SSMS to try and get a better plan etc but no amount of jiggery pokery by
me could get the queries to run any faster.
The really weird thing - is that stopping and starting the report server via the reporting services configuration manager instantly cures the problem.
I'd really love to know - why this might be?  Is it something to do with the report server closing and re-opening its connections to the database? That's the only sort of thing I can think of...any ideas? Anyone? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    LucasF

    Hi LucasF,
In your scenario, usually we can monitor the execution log in Report Database. If you run below query, you can get the results how long the report takes to render (TimeRendering), how long to process the report(TimeProcessing) and how long to retrieve data
from Database(TimeData). You can check the starttime and endtime to know the total time for executing a report.
    SELECT TOP1000 *FROM[ReportServer].[dbo].[ExecutionLog2]
More details information, please reference to similar thread below:
Steps for troubleshooting a slow SSRS 2014 server
    Troubleshooting Reports: Report Performance
In SQL Server Reporting Services, a job will be created by SQL Server Agent if any of the following processes is underway:
query execution on a remote or local database server
    report processing
    report rendering
To cancel a job that is running on the report server, we can cancel the job directly or reduce the report execution time-out value in the SQL Server Management Studio and then will stop query execution. Please refer to the steps below:
Open SQL Server Management Studio, and connect to "Reporting Services".
Under the Report Server node, right-click on the "Jobs" folder and select "Refresh". Then, right-click on "Jobs" again and click "Cancel All Jobs".
Right-click on the Report Server node and open the "Server Properties" dialog.
Click the "Execution" option, and set the "Limit report execution to the following number of seconds:" to a much smaller number. After this issue is resolved, this configuration should revert to the previous state.
    Reference:

In addition, we can also use the KILL Transact-SQL statement to terminate a normal connection by terminating the transactions that are associated with the specified session ID. For the details information, you can refer to:
    KILL (Transact-SQL)
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • How should I report forum performance issues?

The forums rely heavily on the caching features of browsers to improve the speed of page rendering. Performance of these forums should greatly improve after a few pages because more and more of the images, css and javascript is cached in the browser. As a consequence, when reporting forums performance issues the report should include some information on the state of the browser cache to determine whether the issue is a browser issue or a server issue. Such detailed information is generally not available from just watching the browser screen, but needs to come from specialized tools such as performance monitor plugins and recording proxies.
The preferred report method for performance issues is to use the speed reporting features build into or available as a plugin for a browser for both the page you want to report a problem with and several refence pages in the site. Detailed instructions are listed below separated out for different browsers. If possible, please use Firefox for submitting the report because it provides an export format that can be read back electronically.
    Known performance issues
The performance issues with any screen with a Rich Text Editor, such as the Reply window and the compose Private Message window have been acknowleged and improvements are being implemented.
    Mozilla Firefox (preferred)
Warning: it is currently not recommended to generate a speed report when logged in. The speed report has enough detail for somebody else to hijack your session and impersonate you on the forums. If you really must report while logged in, make sure you log out your browser after generating the speed report and wait at least 4 hours before posting.

When you report a performance problem please attach the 6 exports from the Firebug Net panel and an explanation of how you are experiencing the issues (for instance how much slower it is then normal) and include a description of your internet connection (dial-up, dsl, cable etc.) and the country from where you are connecting. If you have non-standard tweaks to your Firefox configuration (such as pipelining enabled) or are running any plugins please include that information in your report as well.

Since Google Chrome does not have an export format for the Resource Tracking information best current practice is to take a screenshot and note the hover details for any resource with a tail that is longer then 25% of the total load time. When you report a performance problem please attach the screenshots and an explanation of how you are experiencing the issues (for instance how much slower it is then normal)  and include a description of your internet connection (dial-up, dsl, cable etc.) and the country from where you are connecting.

The Apple Safari Web Inspector has a Resources panel similar to the Resources panel in the Google Chrome developer tools. To get there, follow these steps:
    Show the menu bar.
    Go to preferences
    Go to the Advanced Tab
Check “Show  Develop menu in menu bar”.
From the Develop menu select “Show Web  Inspector”.
Collecting the performance information and exporting works exactly the same as in Google Chrome. Please refer to the instructions for Google Chrome.
    Microsoft Internet Explorer
IE does not have native features to analyze web traffic. No plugins have been found that produce the required information (please let us know if we missed any). For now, please reproduce the issue with Firefox, Chrome or Safari.
Please note that due to the reliance on Javascript for the interactive effects the performance of these forums will be much better on MS IE 8 then on previous versions of MS IE.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro Ver. 10.1.7 rendering issues

    Hello
I have rendering issues with Acrobat X Pro Ver 10.1.7.
When I zoom in to 100% and use the hand tool to move the image around, it moves about 1 inch then it freezes for 3-4 seconds, then I can move it again.  This happens at all zoom %, but it gets worse as I zoom in further.
This gets even worse if I add text callouts and text boxes.
Windows reports the size of the .pdf document at about 700 Kilobytes.
I played with the Preferences - 3D & Multimedia - Rendeiring settings, etc. to no avail.
I have 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise on a DELL Precision  M4500-I 1.6GHZ CORE I7 QUAD CORE laptop with 8 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA QUADRO FX 1800M with 1 GB of RAM.  I also played with the NVIDIA Control Panel settings to no avail.
This gets very anoying, I need to get work done on these .pdf files and this issue slows me down, and irritates the hell out of me.
I thought my laptop is underpowered, but at this point I tend to believe it is an Acrobat issue.
    Please, any input appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Do report queries require BIP?

    Hey all,
I've created a named column report template which works well with Apache FOP to generate a PDF from a report region. The problem with that approach is that the level of detail for the report region makes the screen too cluttered to easily read. So I thought I'd do a summary report region with a button to launch the PDF of the detail via a report query.
I duplicated the report region's source query to a new report query, and set the query to use the same report template the region successfully uses. The XML Schema download looks great, but when I use "Test Report", the resulting PDF is HTML tags with "Internal Server Error 500" and the FOP application.log says "oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Start of root element expected."
I'm not sure how to debug this, but I noticed the message on the upper right hand side of the Edit Report Query screen says "Report queries are rendered using a custom built RTF layout...", which would infer a requirement for BI Publisher, although I haven't been able to find that stated in any web page, help text, forum message, or book.
If that's the case, is there a technique to mask/hide report region items while still being able to print them?
    Anyone?
    TIA!
    Rich
Edited by: socpres on Oct 23, 2008 10:28 AM (Rich Text doesn't look very nice w/paragraphs)

    Hi Rich,
My guess would be that the XML your report query produces doesn't match the XML generated by your report region export. When printing/exporting report regions, the XML data generated for the print server always contains information about your application, page and the session data of your current page. Report queries on the other hand by default only produce the XML needed for you report data. So the actual XML structure is different, hence your report layout might need to reference your attributes slightly differently. In order to make APEX produce the same XML structure when exporting report regions and report queries, simple enable session state inclusion for your report query (it's an attribute on the first page of the report query create wizard and can also be edited on the report query edit page). Even if you don't want to include any actual session state values, this will ensure that same XML structure in both cases. The reason this is working this way is that for report queries, we want to ensure that you can use the same RTF report layouts that you use in BI Publisher.
    Regards,
    Marc

  • Using multiple Collections in Report queries

I am using many collections in my Report Queries (where conditions) to create the XML needed for running reports (see where condition below). I name each one with a different collection name. I am seeing some performance issues and it looks like it has to do with the amount of collections I am using. It looks like after around 6 collections used in the query, the sql slows down tremendously. It doesn't matter which ones I use, so it doesn't seem to be a specific one.
Are there issues with using many collections? Should I try using 1 collection and add an identifier to one of the collection columns instead?

    Hi,
APEX_COLLECTIONS are special structures that do not have indexes, expect for the one on SEQ_ID. The result is that as the number of collections used in a query increases the number of full table scans on underlying tables kill speed. They are not intended for such heavy use as has been discussed in some of the threads in this forum.
They are extremely useful , but no good for very large data sets or large number of joins. Global temporary tables are also not an option with Apex.
You may have to resort to Materialized Views or intermediate/temp tables to get speed.

    Hi all,
When I use Standard report printing from APEX 3.1 and a Report Layout and Report Queries (more than one report query), I only get output from the first query in PDF format. If I use XML format I get output from all queries. Does APEX 3.1 allow the use of multiple report queries when printing in Standard mode to PDF?

    Mike,
Do you have other report queries where you get more than one result set? Or do you face this issue in all cases? One scenario where you could potentially run into this kind of a situation could be if you selected "Include application and session information" when creating the report query, created your layout based on the resulting XML structure and then later, including application and session information was de-selected, resulting into a simpler XML structure.

    Marc

  • Can anyone make --this fix-- work for the FONT rendering issue?

I found this bug report and proposed fix on the webkit buglist:
    http://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14070
Here is a link that one says can be used to fix the
    rendering issue with bold fonts.
If anyone can make this work for Safari 3 on XP please let me know....
Here are the text and link to the how to:
You can fix rendering issues by changing language for non-Unicode programs. The
    instruction:
    http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/handson/user/xpintlsupp.mspx#EVE
You should restart system after applying setting.
    Hope this helps someone
If not, then call apple support and complain....
maybe if their support phones are getting hot... then they
    will fix this horrible bug

I don't believe this is a support issue, it's rather a Bugdev issue. Use the Bug-Report field in Safari to report this directly to the engineers. I also think the bug is known and will be solved, it's therefore not really in the range of AppleCare. (Beta Software is usually unsupported!)
