  • Crystal Reports XI Crashes When Reporting on Event Log

I have successfully connected to the event log on my local Windows 7 pc, as well as two different Windows 2003 server event logs. The report runs fine unless I include the field "DESCRIPTION" on the report. If I include that field, CR crashes with the following error in my event log:
Faulting application name: crw32.exe, version: 11.0.0.1282, time stamp: 0x422d5c77
Faulting module name: crheapalloc.dll, version: 9.2.0.4, time stamp: 0x422d5ade

I've found a few sites online that others have had the same problem, but I've not found a solution. Any suggestions from anyone here??

Hi Carla, I moved this post to the database connectivity forum.
It may be due to the size or of the text included int he description or MS is reporting the wrong size of the field.
Other issue is XI is not supported on Windows 7 due to the age of CR and newness of Windows 7. CR XI is no longer patchable nor will any new OS platforms be added.
What you can do though is download CR XI R2 for free and use your XI keycode to install it, then go to the Keycode Request site and get one for R2:
Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
Test again and if it still fails you may have to wait for Service Pack 6 to come out, I believe we are adding Windows 7 to the supported OS's.
    Thank you

  • Date format in log/error messages with Server Event Log

    Hi :)
    I have some question.
Current Date is printed at tterrors/ttmesg log files to add with "-showdate" option at $TIMESTEN_HOME/info/ttendaemon.options file.
But date when the TimesTen Server Event Log output is not displayed.

  • Crystal Report Server Database Log File Growth Out Of Control?

We are hosting Crystal Report Server 11.5 on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise.  Our Crystal Report Server SQL 2005 database file size = 6,272 KB, and the log file that goes with the database has a size = 23,839,552.
I have been reviewing the Application Logs and this log file size is auto-increasing about 3-times a week.
We backup the database each night, and run maintenance routines to Check Database Integrity, re-organize index, rebuild index, update statistics, and backup the database.
Is it "Normal" to have such a large LOG file compared to the DATABASE file?
Can you tell me if there is a recommended way to SHRINK the log file?
Some Technical Documents suggest frist truncating the log, and the using the DBCC SHRINKFILE command:
    USE CRS
    GO
--Truncate the log by changing the database recovery model to SIMPLE
    ALTER DATABASE CRS
    SET RECOVERY SIMPLE;
--Shrink the truncated log file to 1 gigabyte
    DBCC SHRINKFILE (CRS_log, 1000);
    GO
    --Reset the database recovery model.
    ALTER DATABASE CRS
    SET RECOVERY FULL;
    GO
Do you think this approach would help?
Do you think this approach would cause any problems?

my bad you didn't put the K on the 2nd number.
Looking at my SQL server that's crazy big my logs are in the k's like 4-8.
I think someone enabled some type of debugging on your SQL server, it's more of a Microsoft issue, as our product doesn't require it from looking at my SQL DB's

i have spent two days trying to fix this, including:
    - reset the reporting service AD account
    - create a new reporting service AD account
    - change report server to "local system" instead of AD account
    - reinstall the reporting role several times
    - reinstall the entire SQL reporting server service
    - delete the reporting db and all related objects on the filesystem
    - modify permissions of reporting service user (full admin on OS and SQL level, as well as in reporting server roles)
    - install a new vm with SQL server reporting services (the error does not happen on this new machine)
at the moment, sccm is creating a new "CM_MED.OLD.xxx" folder in reporting server every minute in a loop.
    how can i solve this?
    Environment is Server 2012R2, sccm 2012r2 cu2, SQL 2012 sp2.

  • Has anyone figured out how to use EventCombMT to do "text" searches of server event logs? I doesn't seem to work.

I know I can do this in powershell, but gosh I don't need a complex powershell script to do what this eventcombmt gui does so easily for quick searches.  I just wish I could figure out why text based searches of logs.  For example, suppose
you want to search events for a user a server may have logged, if I type in "user1" nothing is retrieved and yes it's there.  Searching for events works flawlessly but I can't seem to get text based searches to work.

    Hi,
Based on my research, if we want to filter events based on user name, we need to edit the XML query.
Please refer to this blog below:

  • LYNC 2013 Event Logging Parameters for LYNC server logs

    Hi,
We have LYNC server 2013 enterprise voice. We have third party Monitoring server to monitor the event logging.
Do we have default event logging parameters for LYNC Server logs in LYNC 2013?
    Thanks
    jitender

There's really just the default level of logging for Lync Server Event Logs.  For individual call troubleshooting you might use the debug logger, and for longer term troubleshooting you'd deploy the Lync Monitoring role.  The monitoring role, service
status, and performance monitor counters are what you really want to be monitoring if you're watching your Enterprise Voice deployment.
If I understand the question, there isn't a way to turn up the amount of logs generated in the Lync event logs or change parameters around this.

  • Report server times out for 3 mb of excel

I'm using a report viewer control in our application and it is working fine while displaying data and exporting it in different format by clicking export button provided by the report viewer.
I have another page but there will be a normal asp button to generate same report. so i am using report viewer control and calling the public method .Render exposed by the report viewer.

this time i am getting below exception.

My doubt is like, why it is getting time outs while leveraging same report viewer control internally.
any suggestions to get rid of this?

    Hi sGudivada,
Please check the ExecutionLog view in ReportServer database to learn more information about the report. The report server execution log contains information about the reports that execute on the server or on multiple servers in a scale-out deployment. For
    example:
TimeDataRetrieval fields. Record number of milliseconds spent retrieving the data.
TimeProcessing fields. Record number of milliseconds spent processing the report.
TimeRendering fields. Record number of milliseconds spent rendering the report.

    Hi willjohn520,
Based on your description, it seems that you are getting the error when you connect to report server reports in workstation. If in this scenario, the issue can be caused by “Host Header”(<foo>) in  a URL that looks like http(s)://<foo>/reports
is neither the machine name nor the loop back IP address nor the machine's IP address.

  • Crystal Report Server XI Report recurring instances do not work. Logs?

I have scheduled a report to be run every morning, and each instance return status is "success". However, I encountered the following problem when I try to view instances of the report: There is a long time period of waiting (seems to be waiting for some kind of timeout), and then eventually the message: "A request was cancelled. The necessary security privileges could not be verified. This indicates a problem with the security server."
I also noticed that in event viewer (windows server 2003) I see many failure audits to login to the sql database, and the events contain the login used in my data source.
It's interesting to note, that when I run a single instance of the report "Now" there is no problem.
Some info about the report which may be relevant:
The report uses 2 formula fields to auto-parameterize 2 of the 5 parameters used by a subreport. The other 3 subreport parameters are set when scheduling the report.
The subreport uses a call into a stored procedure in a MS SQL server 2005 database to retrieve its records.
The 2 fields which are parameterized are datetime fields (StartTime, EndTime), and the main report is basically just a wrapper to only show the previous day.
JDBC data source to local Sql server instance.
Also, the crystal report server XI install uses the same sql server instance to store CMS data under a separate database.
    I'm stumped on this.
    Has anybody encountered this problem?
Is there a simpler way to auto-parameterize the report?
Why are the failure audits occurring when I view the instance of the report? Is this because the instance is setup to use RPT output format?
Are there logs I can look into aside from event viewer? I can't find anything that looks relevant under program files, but perhaps I missed something.
The failure audits would make more sense to me if it occurred with the other report instances, but some instances are shown correctly, and some just do this timeout thing.

    Swaprakash..
If your Enterprise uses SCOM for monitoring, you can easily
configure and deploy Audit Collection Reporting (ACS) to pull events from servers based on specific criteria.
You can also manually configure event forwarding/subscriptions.  Here's a
    link on how.
Only when the above two options are impossible will I start to look at a scripting solution, using
    Get-Eventlog or
    Get-WinEvent cmdlets.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 trial install - unable to log into CMC

    Hi,
I have been looking for a way to host my existing Crystal XI reports on our in house web application rather than using a thick client application with cview. I was told that the options were Crystal Reports Server 2008 or Visual Studio 2008. I have downloaded trials of both and am currently testing.
After installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, including MySQL DB and Tomcat web server, i am unable to log into any of the applications with the error that:
Error: Server SCOTTPC:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null
After seeing this i checked the services on my test machine and found that the Server Intelligence Agent was not started. So i tried starting it and recieved the generic windows message:
Service on local computer started and them stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do ... etc
After multiple reboots and reinstalls i am still unable to use any aspect of the application as i am unable to log into the CMC as the server is down. Now i am new to Crystal reports and web servers so have a very limited knowledge of whats going on here - i am primarily a DBA. From what i can tell MySQL does not even appear to be installed but i cannot be sure.
    Any suggestions?

ok... after research it seems a DSN has not been created.
Also when trying to start the server intelligence service i see the following in the application event viewer:
    [Node Name: SCOTTPC]
    [User Name: SYSTEM]
Server Intelligence Agent has failed to initialize because the bootstrap file C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\_boe_SCOTTPC.bootstrap is missing information about the CMS cluster. Please restore your bootstrap file from your backup.
i have recreated the bootstrap file but still get the same error.
i have SQL Server 2005 installed on this rig as well - could this be causing the issue? Would it be better for me to integrate this to SQL Server rather than using the MySQL DB that comes with Crystal server 2008?

  • Reporting Services not automatically starting. System event log 7009, Application event: 18456

For the past month (since Oct 11,2012)  reporting services (SSRS 2008R2) is not starting after the server is rebooted. The service is set to automatically start and starts manually without a problem.  The system event log contains the following error:
Event ID 7009: A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) service to connect.
    SQL logs :
The SQL logs has many "Event 18456 Login Failed, State 38" errors when the database engine starts. I assume clients conections are failing because the databases  aren't online yet. None of these 18456 errors coorespond to the account reporting services
    runs under.
The SQL logs indication Event 7009 occures before the "ReportingServer" database is online so im assuming there is a dependancy but I don't know how to avoid this.
This problem is occuring on a number of our servers running SSRS (if not all)
    Any ideas?
    Paul

    Hi A141695,
For Event ID 7009, you can try to do the steps below to resolve it.
        1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
        2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
        3. Right-click Control, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
        4. In the New Value #1 box, type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press ENTER.
        5. Right-click ServicesPipeTimeout, and then click Modify.
        6. Click Decimal, type the number of milliseconds that you want to wait until the service times out, and then click OK.
For example, to wait 60 seconds before the service times out, type 60000.
Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer. For more information about it, please see:
