Report to be printed in Landscape format....

Hi ,
I have developed a report whose width (length from the left side... to right side , using a ruler) is 19,5cm at portrait......
The same report at landscape using a ruler is 15cm in width..... There are margins to both sides ....
The report was printed in A4 page size (portrait, landscpape) afterwards it was generated to PDF file... In other words , i generated the report to PDF file , i printed it in portrait , landspace and then i used a ruler to find out what is the width of each printing type.....
Why is this difference...??? Is there i can do in Report Builder for this report ....????
I use Dev Report10g.....
Many thanks,
Sim

It seems that the key to the solution is to shrink the margins.....
Greetings,
Sim

  • CRVS2010 Beta 2 - report does not print in Landscape mode correctly

I am using Crystal Reports Beta 2 for Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP. I am trying to print a report in landscape mode. The WPF Crystal Report Viewer displays the report correctly in landscape view. When I print it, it moves all the data to the center of the page, prints it in smaller font and to the left and cuts off a lot of the data on the right hand side.
I have tried various different suggested solutions from reading other forums and nothing seems to work. Is this a known Crystal Report Viewer issue?
    Solutions I have already tried:
    1. Page setup under Crystal Reports - selected no printer (optimize for screen display)
    2. Page setup under Crystal Reports - checked dissociate formatting page size and printer paper size
    3. Setting paper orientation and page orientation at run-time to landscape.
    4. Printing to different printers
Something to note, I can export this report as a .pdf file and it prints perfectly from adobe. This only seems to be an issue when printing directly from the WPF Crystal Report Viewer to the printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have been stuck on this issue for a while...
    Thanks!

    Hi Sharon,
There have been issues with printing and printers in CR 2008 and the same routines are in CR 2010. The patches we have done to help with standard paper sizes in CR 2008 are not in the Beta releases.
Not sure if they will make it into the GA release next month. As a work around I suggest you continue exporting to PDF and then printing the PDF file until they have been resolved and patches are available.
    Thank you

  • The report is always printed in landscape

We have a VB6 application that uses CR 9 to print reports. When we launch reports to screen, and then to the printer, there is no problem and report orientation is as we design. But if we launch the report directly to a specific printer (Kyocera 250ci KX), the report is printed with landscape orientation. This error doesn't appear with the rest of applications.

When it is printed Landscape, is the page truncated on the bottom?  In other words, is the data on the page expecting to be printed in Portrait mode, but is coming out landscape, or are page footers showing on the landscape page?
If the later, then I'm suspecting some setting in the application that is causing the landscape printing, as the page lengths are correct.
If the former, then I'd guess that there's something screwy with the printer itself.  (Can you print anything on that printer in Portrait orientation?)

  • Printing to Landscape format, not Portrait

    Hello,
I'm trying to turn a PDF that was created in Landscape format
into a Flash Paper SWF. When I drag the PDF onto Flash Paper, it
creates a SWF but in a Portrait (print) format. This isn't
acceptable because you can't read the content (unless you hold your
laptop sideways for the whole thing). I didn't see an option
anywhere in Flash Paper to set this. I imagine there must be a way
    to do this?

After additional research I have found that the only way to get my labels to consistently print in landscape is to edit them with a previous version of Crystal.
I had hoped that I could save to a previous version from Crystal 2008 but there is no option to do this. I was thinking this because MS Word and MS Excel can saave to previous versions (2007 will save to 95 etc.)
    Hope this helps others.

  • Comics printing in landscape format

apologies if this has already been addressed somewhere, but i was unable to find anything on a quick search.
i've been receiving the comics for some time now on my 8600 and they have been printing normally in the portrait orientation.  but with no warning approximately four days ago, the pages started printing in landscape.  and instead of the individual strips being sized to fit the page, they have been shrunken down to fit six comics on one page (again, in landscape format).
before the comics started printing incorrectly, no changes were made to the printer, except for setting the defaul print tray to tray 2.  that being said, both print trays have always been, and are still  set to accomodate (use) 8x11 paper.
can someone explain why the print orientation and sizing has randomly changed all of a sudden and how to fix it?  i'm very frustrated with it and am ready to disable the comics because of the change.  (and that would make me a *very* unhappy camper because i do enjoy getting them!)
any help is greatly appreciated.  ty!

  • Report won't print in Landscape

    Post Author: williamk
    CA Forum: General
    Hello all,
I have a report that was created and published as a Landscape report.  However when I go to print it from the Crystal Report ActiveX Viewer it wants to print it as Portrait.  This problem seems to be intermittant.  Sometimes and from some computers it will print correctly.  Most of the time it wont.  I went onto the Business Objects XI Enterprise Server and changed the Print Setup for the report to Custom Settings | Landscape | Letter, but it didn't help.  Also, when it does print incorrectly I get this message:
    Crystal Report Viewer
The report you are about to print is a pre-formatted image of the actual report data.  Changing orientation or paper size may result in loss of objects on each printed page.  Do you wish to continue?
    Any ideas?

Just curious, when you say intermittent, do you mean on the same computer ?  or that it runs on some computers but not on others ?  (Might want to check graphics resolution on the target PC and see if mucking with that solves anything)

    Hi All,

In the object navigator I have set following properties for Main Section
    Width=11
    Height=8.5
    Orientation=Landscape
    Char Mode Width=132
    Char Mode height=66
I have done same settings for Header Section and Trailer Section. Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

You will need to edit prt files to add the printer escape sequences to change the page orientation to landscape. Printer escape sequences can be obtained from the printer manual, or the printer vendor.
For instance, HP printer escape codes can be obtained from the HP website under the printer support links.
The steps below describe how to print a landscape, character mode report from a Windows NT PC on an HP 4100N Printer. The 4100N is a dual mode printer that can use either PCL or Postscript printer language.
    1. Use a web browser to navigate to the HP website and obtain the printer escape codes for the HP 4100N. If you are unable to locate the HP4100N printer, look for generic PCL information. The HP site also includes detailed information on the printer command syntax.
    2. The HP4100N printer command for landscape page orientation is "ESC&l1O" - where ESC indicates escape, '&' (ampersand) is the parameterized character, 'l'(lower case letter l) is the group character, '1' (number one) is the printer value character and 'O' (upper case letter O) is the termination character.
NOTE: The HP documentation uses "EC" to signify the escape character.
It also suggests pressing CTRL and the letter P together, then
releasing both keys and pressing the ESC key. If this is done in
a dos editor, a left arrow will actually be displayed on screen.
This character cannot be interpreted by Oracle Reports and will
cause printing errors if used in a .prt file. Instead, just use
the letters "ESC" to indicate that the code that follows is a printer
    escape sequence.
    3. Make a copy of the wide.prt file and rename it to "mywide.prt."
    4. Add the page orientation escapes to mywide.prt file:
    printer "mywide"
    height 66
    width 132
before report esc "&l1O" *** Puts Page in Landscape Orientation***
    after page control(L)
after report esc "&l0O" *** Resets page orientation to Portrait ***
    return control(M)
    linefeed control(J)
SYNTAX NOTES: The escape sequence must be enclosed in double quotes ("). The above comments regarding page orientation are used to clarify where the escape codes gets added, but they should NOT be used when editing
    the actual .prt file.
    5. Save mywide.prt file to the $ORACLE_HOME\report60\printers\ directory.
    6. Go to Windows PC -> Start -> Settings -> Printers and open the properties for the HP printer. Ensure that the option to "Always Spool Raw Data" is checked. This option is usually under the General Printer
Options, or Spool Options. On Windows NT, you must have Administrator privileges to change this setting.
    7. Test running the report to the printer and specify desformat mywide. It is not necessary to include the file extension (.prt).
    8. The report will now print in landscape orientation.

  • ABAP Report - Landscape format

I need to change the report display to landscape.  Right now the report gets cut off at 178 characters.  How do I allow for more than 178 characters, horizontally?  Also, how can I ensure that the report prints in landscape format?  I used FM GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS to set the print format to landscape but it still cuts off at 178 characters, with room for more.

    Hi,
You need to specify Line size and Line count at statement "REPORT  ZNAME".
Check below code, this report will have 60 rows and 220 columns.
REPORT  ZNAME LINE-SIZE 220 LINE-COUNT 60 NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING.
    More Information:
    ... LINE-SIZE width
    Effect
This addition specifies the line width of the basic list and details list of the program to width characters, and sets the system field sy-linsz to this value. The line width determines the number of characters in the line buffer as well as the number of columns in the list displayed. The value width must be a positive numeric literal. The maximum line width is 1,023 characters.
    LINE-COUNT page_lines (footer_lines)
    Effect
This addition specifies the page length for the basic list of the program to page_lines lines and fills the system field sy-linct with this value. If the LINE-COUNT is not specifed, and if page_lines are less than or equal to 0 or greater than 60,000, then the page length is set internally to 60,000. This setting overwrites the passed value of the like-named LINE-SIZE addition to the statement SUBMIT and can be overwritten during list creation with the like-named LINE-COUNT addition to the statement NEW-PAGE.

  • Converting to PDF in landscape format

    Hello Friends ,
I am doing an ALV grid report which needs to be sent to users Lotus Notes Inbox. I was successful in converting the report to PDF format and sending it to the inbox.
The problem is that report has 15 columns . All these 15 columns are displayed in the PDF format but they are minimized . I need to zoom 200% to see all the columns .
Is there a way it can be printed in Landscape format ??

  • Printing in landscape not working on networked printer

<p>One of our reports that we send to a networked printer, will only print the document in portrait format. We need to have this printing in Ladscape and have not been able to figure out why this one report is not printing in that format, where the other ones are. Is there a setting or syntax that needs to be implemented in the crystal report in order to correct this problem. Thanks.</p>

If my understanding is correct, all reports except one print correctly in landscape. If this is the case, then the one report probably has a strange setting in it. Compare its print settings and page settings to one of the successful reports (option by option) to make sure they are the same.
If that doesn't show a difference, try exporting the report to RPT format and then setting up the page setting on the new report. (This will act like a brand new report but with all of your work intact). You get a clean slate at the report options. Maybe that is all you need.
Just a thought or two. :)

  • Can't print in Landscape mode since installing Snow Leopard

Since the installation of Snow Leopard 10.6.2 I can't print in landscape format from application such as Word, powerpoint, Turbo Cad, etc, on my network printer. This is despite changing my page set-up and printer settings My only work around at the moment is to print to a PDF document and print a hardcopy from there. Any thoughts...??

    Hi fruhulda,
1000 thanks for your help. I've tried everything you suggested. Nothing really fixed the problem except creating a new account. In the new account, I could open and use Pages documents I had created before I switched to Snow Leopard. And all of the functions seemed to work properly, including copy and paste.
In order to use my old, pre-Snow Leopard documents, I had to put them into a shared folder, so that I could access them from my new account. Does this mean I'm going to have to move ALL of my files from my old account into a shared folder, bring them into the new account, and make the new account my main account? If so, that seems like a lot of annoyance and a lot of work. Not that I'm blaming you--thanks for the fix. It just would have been nice not to have to start from scratch.
Also one or two worrying things came up when I did my disk repair, namely, the following two messages:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFramework/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Resou rces/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.
I did some looking around in old forums and other people have gotten these messages before and seemed to be pretty worried about them. I don't really understand what they mean, and I guess I'm wondering if I should be worried about them too.
Again thank you very much for your help so far.

  • SQL Plus command to print a report in Landscape format

    Hi,
what is the SQL Plus command to print a report in Landscape format?

And all it does with line size is know where to insert a CR/LF pair (windows) or a CR (*nix). The only thing it knows to do with page size is repeat column headers.
The rest is up to whatever application you use to open the pure asciii text spool file.

  • Cannot print Landscape report to PCL printer - Solved

Has anyone been able to print a landscape BIP PDF to a PCL printer?
I am on EBS 11.5.10.2, with BIP 5.6.3, and PASTA 3.0.4.
The first report template I tried creating (Discrete Job Pick List Report) in XML Publisher / BIP happens to have a landscape layout, 11 inches wide by 8.5 inches high.
The report is created successfully as a PDF, but I can't get that PDF to print successfully on my PCL printers - the output is truncated on the right. It looks like it is trying to print the landscape report on portrait paper.
Not sure if that makes sense. It is not rotating the report contents to fit on the paper.
I configured PASTA as instructed in MetaLink:
Note 338990.1 - How To Print XML Publisher PDF Reports Via The Concurrent Manager,
Note 356501.1 - How to Setup Pasta Quickly and Effectively, and
Note 365111.1 - How to Setup Pasta for PCL Base Printers
I submitted a TAR/SR on this and they referred me to
Note 421358.1 - Custom Landscape Reports In PDF Format Print in Portrain Orientation
And basically told me what I was trying to do was not normal, and that I should get a PostScript printer. That's not an option, since all of our printers do PCL, but not all of them do PS.
Has anyone been able to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Steve

(changed original subject to add 'Solved')

The SR conversation on this topic ended with "EBS does not have any seeded code or driver that can covert a PDF file to PCL, however. If such a third party tools exists, it can be placed (called) within the preprocessing section of the pasta_pdf.cfg configuration file." The documentation recommends "acroread", but I think this is an obsolete utility, plus it doesn't do PCL.
I could not find a third party tool to convert to PCL in the preprocess section of PASTA, while doing landscape, but I did find a third party tool that can replace the "ntPrintCommand" part of PASTA. It is called "GSPRINT", and it is part of GSview. I am on a Windows platform, so this is perfect for me, since it works with the Windows printer drivers at a bitmap level, and no PCL or PostScript conversion or preprocessing is necessary on my part. It takes the PDF as input directly, and prints it.
Here is the essence of my pasta.cfg file now (named pasta_gsprint_landscape.cfg)
      outputFormat=text
ntPrintCommand=c:\utils\gs\gsview\gsprint.exe -printer "{printername}" -landscapeThe outputFormat=text so that PASTA will not do anything except preprocess and print. I took out the preprocess, so all it does is print using gsprint.
Since this makes pasta pretty much just overhead, I'm going to look into the option of running gsprint directly and taking pasta out of the loop completely.
