Report with Access Database or TXT file
Dear All,
I was wondering if someone can help me with the following issue.
We have created a Crystal Reports XI report which has a Access MDB or Plain Text file as source data (2 different reports; one with MDB connection only and the other one with a Lotus Notes ODBC connection and TXT file).
The report runs correctly locally and it also runs correctly on the server but as soon as I post the report via the repository folder to the server, it does not work anymore.
Viewing the report via InfoView gives me a password request while both, the MDB and TXT file are not password protected.
We have tried to make system DSN and file DSN connections to both the MDB and TXT file but also this ends with a password request which is not defined.
Did anyone came across this as well? Any idea about a solution?
Thank you in advance,
Annique.
Hi Annique,
Since this works in CR Designer I'm moving your post to the Business Objects forum.
It's likely due to BOE servers not having access to the data sources. Make sure you put them in a folder that the WEB server and BOE Servers have access to. To prompt for log on is because we can't find the data files.
Thank you

I have seen a similar post from you, my understanding is that you wonder that the reply is mapped to the related subject. You can take a look at Daniel's reply in the following thread:

Web-Intelligence Reports against Access Database
We are unable to run Web-Intelligence reports against Microsoft Access Database which resides on a network drive
Able to create Unvierse, and Universe Connection to the Access Database through ODBC, but unable to run Web-I reports, when tried we get the following error
A database error occured. The database error text is: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.. (WIS 10901)
Did anyone tried to develop Web-I reports from Access database on a network drive, if so I request you to provide us details and your findings
Thank youWe run the designer on the same machine where BOBJ runs and also on other client machines, from disigner it works fine,
The service account which is used to run BO Application Services has full control access to the network location and folder where the database resides
We can run / refresh Desk-I and Web-I rich client but cannot run web-i reports against access database

Need existing custom script to run with a .csv or .txt file
Hi, Scripting Guys!
I am a very novice novice when it comes to PowerShell -- I'll state that up front. So apologies if the answer to this is really basic. I am trying to use a script written by someone else, where I can simply paste in the script, identify the user by any one
of several attributes, and the magic happens (in this case, all mail attributes in the AD Object are cleared and then the email address is added back in, resetting that object to the point where IDSync can run). For a single user at a time, it works
perfectly.
.\Reset-MailAccountforIDSync.ps1 -Identity "[email protected]"
My problem is that I have a .csv file with 60 users I need to run this script on, and there's a possibility of other large batches in the future. How can I convert this single user script into one that can work with a .csv or .txt file?
Thanks, Stormicat/J.L.NewmarkThis will do the trick.
$csv=Import-Csv users.csv
foreach($user in $csv){
.\Reset-MailAccountforIDSync.ps1 -Identity $user.Mail
Of course you will have to learn enough to understand that so start here:

How to update a table AUTOMATICALY with data from a .txt file??
HI ,
I want to upload data which is in a notepad file and Create a table. This notepad file stores a string of datas. Here, the data comes in to the .txt file every second.
(The data is actually stored into the notepad file when a program is executed in Processing.js software)
Is it possible to do the following using APEX ? ?
1. This table has to be updated automatically once in 2 minutes (I want this completely automatic, no human intervention -- no update buttons)
2. A report is to be created in a apex application with this table, it should reflect the updates in the table every 2 minutes.
Is it possible?? give your ideas.. I want to do this soon for my engineering project :) Any help from you is appreciated. :)
Edited by: user13301695 on 28-Mar-2011 10:09And how do you expect your database server to access a local file in your machine ?
Is the file accessible from outside your machine say inside a webserver folder so that some DB process can poll on the file ?
Or, is your DB server in the same machine where you have the text file ?
You will have to figure out the file acess part before automating user interaction or even auto-refreshing. -
Crystal Reports and Access database connection error
I had this in a different forum with no hits, so I am trying this one.
A person that I work with has multiple reports set up that pulls from an Access database that is password protected. When we moved everything over to a new computer, those reports now say that it cannot access the fields inside the database. It never pops up with a login screen either, like it does on the old computer. I played around with the ODBC, with no luck, couldn't get anything to work. I have also tryed relinking the database, but I keep getting connection problems. We are on a network, so her settings should have all moved with the new computer. Along with the database and the reports being on the server, so they were never moved. I am thinking it has something to do with a system file.
I also found this document on this site, but cannot find the download it mentions, sounds similar to my problem.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/208b8fe5-681e-2b10-d2bb-b201f266d0ab
Does anybody know how to fix this without the utility mentioned in the above link, or know where I can get the utility??
We are using Access 2007 and Crystal Reports 7. The database is not save as an Access 2007 database, but a regular mdb.

CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Hello Chris,
Crystal Reports does not store the database password with the RPT file. This is by design (Crystal is not a database security product). This is true of all versions of Crystal Reports.
If your users need to see fresh data when opening the reports then they will have to log in by providing at least the password.
You can send reports with Saved Data that won't try to hit the database, but the data won't refresh either. To save data with the report go to the File menu and click next to Save Data with Report. Refresh the report and then save it. The report will now have saved data and won't try to hit the database when opened. If the user hits the refresh button then they will get prompted to log into the database.
I hope this helps.

I have a CAN database in a .txt format. I used access and excel to map it to a .xml file. When I try to add it to the NI-XNET Database Editor in the Manage NI-XNET databases and add alias it give me the error: x BFF63081. How can I take a .txt file database and convert it to a NI-XNET database?
I think the common formats that XNET support are CANdb and FIBEX files (amongst others...e.g. for Flexray). I think FIBEX is the name. A CANdb file is essentially just a text file so maybe you can parse out the messages fairly easily that way. FIBEX files are the file format that LabVIEW creates when you edit/create an XNET database from their user interface.
If you don't want to use either of those formats, then you need to parse the text file in LabVIEW and use it to manually create the XNET signals/database. You can create a :memory: database, populate it with a cluster and then populate that with signals using data from your text file.
In the LabVIEW examples under Hardware Input and Output >> CAN >> NI-XNET >> Databases are some examples of manipulating an XNET database so that should point you in the right direction of which VIs you need to use.

Is it Possible to upload the output from Oracle reports To Access database
Hi All,
Wish you All a Very Happy New Year.
I have a query.Is it possible to
upload the output from the Oracle reports
to the Access database???
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA
sgHi sg,
Research the DDE option.
Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is a mechanism by which applications can communicate and exchange data in Windows.
I have imported data into the excel spreadsheet using DDE built in functions. I am sure it can work with MS Acess as well. If not, then you need to create a 2 step process .. reports -> excel -> access. -
