What you are asking is not trivial at all, and not possible “out of the box”. How do you define an online user in a web environment? It’s not like the user have a continues/permanent connection with the web server. The following thread elaborate more on the subject - Identify currently active users .

Problem opening reports with a user in the Oracle Directory.

I have already followed all the steps in the user's guide to run reports with a user in the Oracle Directory.
I accessed the enterprise security manager and created the mandatory xml publisher roles, besides I created another role. I added user A to the new role I created.
I accessed then the administrator tab in XML publisher. I went to roles and the role I created was there. When I tried to add a folder. I'm able to add the folder there. I click on apply and then when I enter in the security Settings again the folder is not there anymore.
I get the following error in the log:
[021207_103218621][][EXCEPTION] oracle.apps.xdo.servlet.resources.ResourceNotFoundException: /opt/oracle/infra2/j2ee/home/xmlpublisher
/Admin/Security/security.xml
When I access xml publisher with the user A, who belongs to the new role I'm working with, I'm not able to see any folder, nor anything else.
Do you have any ideas about what could be going wrong?

Unable to Schedule the Report with a user with Author Role.

I tried to Schedule the Report using weblogic user(which has admin role) it worked perfectly. But when i try to login using User(which has author role) and when i try to schedule a report i am getting the following error. It is clustered Environment.

The patch is available on MOS and can be applied to all platforms.

Running reports with OPS$ user

Hi, I've been using reports server 6i and I have a problem with ops$ users. I've configured the 'cgicmd.dat' file with database accesses like those:
server1: server=REPORTSERVER userid=ops$reports/password@service %*
server2: server=REPORTSERVER userid=user2/password@service %*
to launch reports through the http oracle web server, but doens't work and only works with non ops$ users. I get an web page error like that:
Database User Authentication
ops$reports:_______
password: ________
database: service
Someone told me about scape characters or something.

When running FR reports it tries use the logged user to connect to Essbase as well, but we want FR to run with a generic Essbase user id.
How do I make it work so that it does not prompt for username/password.

The only difference in my case is the use of SAP Authentication instead of Enterprise.
Thus as per your last update the following workflow is only valid:
1. User logins to Infoview using SAP Authentication.
2. User clicks on Xcelsius Dashboard Hyperlink object.
3. SAP Enterprise Portal login pops up within the Infoview Workspace.
4. User has to fill in the Login credentials again.
5. Dashboard load up successfully.
Please correct me in case I am wrong.

Run a report with another user permissions

Hi,
I need that "normal" users run payroll simulation (report rpcalce0) with a more privileged user, and when the process ends the user must recover its original permissions.
An option is that normal users schedule a job with this report and setup it to be executed as another user (the privileged user), but my problem is with the execution results, because I need that this job runs inmediatly and the user could see the results of executions as it runs in foreground instead of a background job.
So I'm looking for a way to change the owner of a report execution for a while without the need to run it in background. My idea is that the normal user executes transaction and fills the selection screen, but then when the simulation starts it runs as privileged user, finally when the results appears the normal user takes the control again.
Is this possible??

1. I don't think there is any direct way to do this.
2. Bcos the standard sap program for payroll,
   will always use sy-uname
   to check the rights and privileges.
3. And we cannot modify sy-uname, for the standard program.
   (not in case of foreground)
4. Neither call transaction or submit (for foreground)
   has the facility / option for running the submitted program,
   under some specified user name.

Report with online template runs online, but exports empty report.

I created a simple Table template using the online template builder. The report consists of four columns. It runs fine in online mode, and displays the data. When I try to export this report to any other format, while still viewing the table in the browser, it exports an empty report! Only the title is visible, no data rows.
Just another example of how bad this software is. Every day it's a different bug!

It's the conditional highlighting that breaks the report. I made it so a few rows were emboldened based on the value of one column. Nice feature, Oracle.

Customising a pdf form with online user input?

I've designed a breast cancer pamphlet and saved it as a pdf.
I'm looking for a way that web users can customise the headline, or add their contact info to the pamphlet.
Then, after they have personalised the pdf, it is saved as a new pdf for them to download and print at a high quality.
I also have my site built with Wordpress, so if there's a wp plugin out there, that would be helpful.
Any ideas how a graphic designer could make this happen?

This will really be your limitation. If your end users have a full version of Acrobat Standard or Professional, no problem. But since I assume most would only have the free Adobe Reader, in order for them to save the form it would have to be Reader Extended and that would require that you have an Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server.
There is an option in Acrobat Professional to apply extended usage rights to the document, but in the EULA it clearly states this is limited to 500 uses of the form - so unless you can physically limit access to your form to 500 people or less, total, ever, that will not be an option for you since going over 500 would be a violation of your licensing agreement.

Unable to login to caralog manager online with adminstrator user

I am unable to login to catalog manager online with administrator user. I get error as
'access denied for user to path /.'
I think this is because of catalog migration from dev to test.
What do i need to do so that i could login to catalog manager online with administrator?

Hi,
When the catalog is moved from Dev to Test/prod permissions are not copied. The users are part of the system folder (i.e Catalog Manager > Users > Properties > Owner Account = System Account), which is why Catalog Manager does not transfer the permissions.
I guess that is the reason you were able to run the reports from dev and not from test/prod. To have them work you might need to refresh GUID's check the Oracle note [ID 1467256.1].
1. Stop the Presentation Server.
2. Backup the instanceconfig.xml file at [middleware_home]/instances/instance1/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/instanceconfig.xml
Under the 'Catalog' section, add the 'Recover' tag. For Example:
<Catalog>
<UpgradeAndExit>false</UpgradeAndExit>
<UpdateAccountGUIDs>Recover</UpdateAccountGUIDs>
</Catalog>
4. Start the Presentation Server. It will perform a recovery and then after some time shutdown.
5. Remove the tag.
6. Start the Presentation Server again.

Hi Aditya,
You could download the output from table EKKO from SE16.
Go to transaction SE16 -> Enter table name EKKO -> Enter the selection parameters
From the output, filter out only the fields you require including the field ERNAM (Created By).
Then download the list using on of the buttons on the application toolbar ('CtrlShiftF7', 'Ctrl-Shift-F8', 'Ctrl-Shift-F9') or,
System -> List -> Save -> Local File
