Report works in Crystal Reports, but not when scheduled in Crystal Server

Hi,
I have a pretty simple report designed in Crystal Reports 2008. Basically it shows a list of call notes (memo field) from customer activities in our CRM system. The report works fine in Crystal reports, but when run or scheduled in Crystal Server 2008 the output is always blank. Furthermore, the page format etc. is "lost" in crystal server, so that the output is PDF of a quadratic blank sheet (not my standard A4 format)... Exporting to other formats - excel, Word etc. all gives the same result.
I have tried to strip out various formulas, formatting etc from the report, but nothing helps. Which leads me to thinking that the real problem is that the report contains a memo field? Anyone else had this problem?

Hi Claus,
I've had issues between what Crystal does and what the Report Server does.  To resolve this, we found out Crystal Reports 2008 latest service pack has some things that will fix Server 2008 and they aren't in the latest Server update. 
We updated Crystal Reports 2008 on our machines.  Installed the latest update for Crystal Server and then installed Crystal 2008 on the Report Server and installed the Crystal Reports 2008 update.  A lot of our compatibility issues went away after that.

  • SQL script works in SQL Developer but not when scheduled

    I have a script that I can run, logged onto my server as a user with full permissions and into my database as SYSDBA, that produces a CSV file on the server when I run it from SQL Developer ON the server. HOWEVER, when I set it up as a scheduled job, using those SAME CREDENTIALS (same Windows/network user; same database user), I get no output. The job indicates that it's running successfully, but no file gets created.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    does oracle showing any errors in user_scheduler_job_run_details for this job ? I would advise try inserting some debug statement to identify where exactly its stuck. Also please check sample configurations syntax for user_scheduler_jobs.

    Since you have identified the 2 xml files are identical, according to my knowledge, there maybe a compatibility issue with IE 9 and SSRS 2008 R2, so I suggest that you could run the report in compatibility mode. Please make sure you have turned on Compatibility
    View in Internet Explorer 9 by following steps:
    When Internet Explorer recognizes that a webpage is not compatible, you will see the Compatibility View button on the Address bar. Try clicking it.
    When Compatibility View is turned on, the button changes from an outline to a solid color when you view the page.

  • Podcast - works on iTunes page but not when subscribed

    Hi, I produced my podcast, submitted the feed through iTunes store and was validated. However, it happens so that people can listen to the podcast on iTunes page but not when they subscribe to it and try to download. error points to URL issues apparently. Help.

    It works perfectly well for me. On subscribing I saw all three episodes and downloaded and played Episode 2 without any problems. The only explanations I can suggest are that either some of your subscribers are having some sort of technical issue at their end: or that your server is intermittently sulking and failing to respond to requests. Try playing the episode from this link a few times on spaced-out occasions and see whether you ever get a failure:

  • Load swf works in Publish Preview but not when published

    Hi Folks,
    I having a problem where im trying to load two 1mb SWF movies into my Flash piece. It works fine in Publish Preview but not when I finally publish. I get this error in IE:
    SecurityError: Error #2000: No active security context.
    I have googled around and there is some talk online of a hack where by you get a timeout to overcome this. However im not so technical do I dont really know how to do this to my code in AS3. My code at the moment is below.

    I think this is either a problem with my site preLoader or my external .swf Loader. I was checking out the bandwith profiler and saw something weird and I wondered if anyone could explain...I've added a picture. I have a blank frame on only my actions layer to export classes to and it seems that frame 2 is "bleeding" into frame 1. Could this be my problem? Why would this happen? Thanks

  • Dynamic Parameter List works on desktop but not when run on Crystal Server

    Hi,
    I have a report, and the database command query takes one parameter ({?Year}. There is a second parameter used for a record select which is a dynamic paramenter list (multiple select, required). When running the report from Crystal Reports 2008 on my desktop, it first prompts for a year, and then once that is entered, it will come back with the list (of Companies) to select from. It works very smootly and as desired.
    But when I load this report to Crystal Reports 2008 Server, it will ask for the year (which is a static list), and this is good, but then it comes back with an empty dynamic select list on the next screen.
    Are there any special caveats that I need to be aware of in regards to dynamic lists when running from the CR server?

    Hi Pat, 
    This should work but a couple of things to check: 
    1)  Are the two parameters linked to the same database?  If the parameters are linked to fields from different tables in different databases then you need to make sure you set the Database Configuration and have the report log on to both databases. 
    2)  Are Crystal Reports and Crystal Server the same version?  I had problems with parameters after we upgraded to 2008.  We had to install the latest service packs for both Crystal 2008 and the Enterprise Server.  Then we installed Crystal 2008 on the same machine the Enterprise Server was on.  Crystal Reports and the Enterprise Server share some common files.  Some of those files were updated for Crystal but not for the Enterprise Server yet.  Once we synched them our reports have run fine.

  • Report works on development machine, but not on distributed machines

    New to CR, I use VS2005 and have added a crystal report that works fine on the development computer. I use the one click deployment to distribute my application with the report on a form. When I try to populate the report, I get the following error:

    I am looking into the merge modual from the link, hope thier are some install instructions. I am using the version of CR that is bundeled with VS2005. I did not see a serperate version for CR, Microsoft Visual here is the data from the VS2005 Help:

  • Form on Table with Report works in one environment but not in another.

    Here's a short description of the problem:
    Created a form on a table with report (using the wizard) in an ApEx application. The form and report work perfect in development environment. Once the application is moved to the Test environment, the insert feature of the form does not work. We have verified that the underlying table the form is based on is there with all the fields, primary key, sequence and trigger.
    Any ideas?

    I assume that apex_public_user has all the approporiate privilegesapex_public_user requires no privileges other than those it is created with during installation and the execute privileges on procedures it may acquire as URL-invokable procedures are developed and registered.
    Marc - What are the symptoms of the problem (insert does not work) ? What does the debug output show when you run the page in debug mode? Does the "request" value of the button (create button?) match one of the request values recognized by the DML process?

  • Report works but not when scheduling

    I have a report that copies table contents to a text file. When using this report from se38 everything works but every time we schedule the job from sm36 it gets status cancelled.
    The input to the report is what table should be copied and where it should be copied to.
    The error message is from sm36 job scheduling is: "Could not ascertain code page"
    Message class: FES
    What does this mean?

    Where do you download the text file to?
    If you try to save to your PC, it will never work.
    You can not download to a local drive, only to UNIX or print the file to the spool. Then, later, you'll need to retrieve it either from UNIX or from the spool.

  • Report works in Designer client, but not after published to Business Objects server

    Has this happened to anyone else?  I have a couple of reports that work perfectly on my pc in the Designer client.  I can export them to whatever format I need, and they work.  When I save them to the Business Objects server, everything appears to be ok.  The thumbnail on the properties tab shows the correct report with a page full of data.  When I preview and when I schedule the report to run, I get incorrect data.  In one case, I get an empty report.  In another case, I get data, just wrong data and way too much of it.  I've got hundreds of other reports that were developed and published the same way that are working correctly.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

    There may be couple of reasons. What is your data source? Verify the database in the report and check it again. Or to do more crosschecking, Create a simple report using the same database and deploy in BOE.

  • Form auto query works in 10g developer, but not when served by forms server

    I have a form with a master and two detail blocks on the same canvas. When I run it from the developer tool on my desktop, it works great, the master block populates as expected based on the GO_BLOCK and EXECUTE_QUERY statements, and the detail blocks both populate automatically, firing their POST_QUERY triggers as well. When I run it on the server, I have to execute query manually, and then navigate to each of the detail blocks and then execute their queries manually too. When I do that, their POST_QUERY triggers are not firing.

  • Any idea why .swf works in "simulate download" but not when Published?

    I have a project where I have a main project which loads external .swfs, and those external .swfs in turn load more external .swfs. In my main project, everything works perfectly when I preview using simulate download, but once the .swf is published it doesn't work properly. I'm assuming is has something to do with my main site Preloader, that's why I posted here. I'm pasting the code here and attaching the latest size report. Any ideas or help is appreciated!

  • Works fine in debug but not when published

    So I have simple navigation code setup to step through frames (I'm using Flash instead PowerPoint--too many pictures that are PSDs and illustrations that are AIs to do the conversions over to something PowerPoint understands).

  • FM CRM_PRIDOC_READ_OW works in source system but not when executed from BW

    Hello All,
    I have extended an extractor in the source system by adding additional fields.
    One of the FM I've used is CRM_PRIDOC_READ_OW. When I run an extraction test in the source system eveything works and data does populates into the new fields.But when I run the infopackage from the BW side, I get an error message which saids the transaction has been terminated. I've been able to trace and pinpoint the possible cause of the error. When I do not call this FM, the infopackage finishes but I do not get data for the new fields and when I do call this FM, I get the error.
    Has anyone experiance this issue before?

    Thank you for your question. I think we mapped all the systems you show. Always the same error. Concerning your systems my transport log would say:
    Source system R3DEV does not exist
    We mapped this.
    Any ideas? Is there maybe something in customizing to do what could be forgetten? The system is newly connected and there have never been a transport compounded to this source system before.

  • RMI Works In One Direction, But Not When Config Flipped

    Hi All,
    Interesting problem: I have an SSL-RMI server, running either as an application, or as a service using JS Wrapper, on PC-A, correctly serving content to a client running on PC-B.
    But when I flip the configuration, such that PC-B is now hosting an SSL-RMI server, PC-A's client is consistently showing a "connection refused" error, and will not connect whenever I attempt to run it as a service on PC-B.
    The strange thing is that I can run this server on PC-B as an application from the command-line or from within NetBeans, but again, as soon as I am running it as a service, using JS Wrapper, PC-A shows "connection refused".
    I've opened firewalls per the instructions found here:

    but these are simply two locally connected PC's, so what's the problem?

    Was able to get past it by running the jar that was to become the service from the command line. This caused the Windows firewall to prompt me asking whether it should allow future use of these ports by this application. I answered yes, and then reinstalled it as a service using Java Service Wrapper (which is excellent, btw), and all ran smoothly thereafter.
    I guess when running as a service, the firewall breach attempt wasn't triggering a response from the Windows firewall, so nothing appeared to be working. I had already allowed this breach on my primary PC (months ago), so hadn't remembered that I needed to do that there.
