Report Writer Commands

We are trying to create a fixed length export file from the report writer in the Essbase Application Manger with version 6.2. My challange is that I need the fixed length fields padded with zeros. Has anyone been able to accomplish this ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to execute this first on cansole and later will conver it into Servlet.
Thanks

How do i turn on Heading for Row dimensions like Account, Unit and Product.

There is no command to turn on row headings. This has bothered people for as long as I know. The way I got around it was to create a file with a single row that had all readers. I turn off headers in the report script and concatinate the one row file with the output from the report script using a batch command after it runs

    Need help Plzzzzzzz!!!!!

    Hi
you can use the BOE SDK to write a java or .NET program that does this. You can find some examples here:

  • Write command

how i can use write in
    event AT SELECTION-SCREEN.

    Hi,
We can not use the WRITE command in this Event
The event AT SELECTION-SCREEN is the basic form of a whole series of events that occur while the selection screen is being processed.
The standard selection screen in an executable program or in the logical database linked to it is automatically called between the INITIALIZATION and START-OF-SELECTION events. When you call the selection screen, and when users interact with it, the ABAP runtime environment generates selection screen events, which occur between INITIALIZATION and START-OF-SELECTION.
You can define event blocks for these events in your program to change the selection screen or process user input.
You can use the COMMENT to write the text in the selection screen ..
To place comments on the selection screen, you use:
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT [/]pos(len) comm [FOR FIELD f]
                                              [MODIF ID key].
This statement writes the comm comment on the selection screen. For comm, you can specify a text symbol or a field name with a maximum length of eight characters. This character field must not be declared with the DATA statement, but is generated automatically with length len. The field must be filled before the selection screen is called. You must always specify the pos(len) addition. Only if there are several elements in one line can you omit pos.
The text comm  will be displayed, starting in column pos, for a length of len. If you do not use a slash (/), the comment is written into the current line; otherwise a new line is created.
You use FOR FIELD f to assign a field label to the comment. f can be the name of a parameter or a selection criterion. As a result, if the user requests help on the comment on the selection screen, the help text for the assigned field f is displayed.
The MODIF ID keyaddition has the same function as for the PARAMETERS statement. You can use it to modify the comment before the selection screen is called.
    Here is the exampel Program
    REPORT demo_sel_screen_select_comment.
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /2(50) text-001 MODIF ID sc1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN SKIP 2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /10(30) comm1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE.
    PARAMETERS: r1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1,
                r2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1,
                r3 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE /1(50).
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /10(30) comm2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE.
    PARAMETERS: s1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad2,
                s2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad2,
                s3 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE /1(50).
    INITIALIZATION.
    COMM1 ='Radio Button Group 1'.
    COMM2 ='Radio Button Group 2'.
      LOOP AT SCREEN.
        IF screen-group1 = 'SC1'.
          screen-intensified = '1'.
          MODIFY SCREEN.
        ENDIF.
      ENDLOOP.

  • Essbase Report Writer IPARENT

I have a report that displays level 0. I want to also show the immediate parent of the level 0 member. I have been playing with the "IParent" command, but can't get it to work. It looks like it may work on a single member. This is what I have at the moment.
    <Link (((<LEV("Entities", "Lev0,Entities")) AND ( <IDESC("Total Center")))
Any ideas how to get the level 0 entities along with the immediate parent?
    Thanks

Thanks Tim for the response. The code works except that it puts the parent information on a separate line, however I would like to have both the parent and child on a the same line in different columns. You won't be able to do that in an Essbase report script as the Essbase engine will not understand with member you want for the row dimension when it does the retrieve.. You could do this in Excel if you limit the number of range that is retrieved to only include the 'child' column in the row header section of the retrieve.
Within the same project, I was trying to incorporate "REPMBRALIAS". It works, but I cannot seem to get the member name and alias in two separate columns. Report writer dumps both in the same column, which makes it hard to parse. My guess is that it would be impossible to parse if you have spaces in any member names. Again, if you use Excel to do this functionality, you can turn off 'use both members and aliases' and they will be returned in separate columns.

  • Differences Between Report Painter and Report Writer

    Hi,
Anyone knows the differences between report painter and report writer?
    Thanks,
    CW

    Hello CW Teo,
Yes report writer can be used in logistics also. One of the way which I am aware of is described below.
Flexible analyses allow you to can tailor the way in which key figures are combined and aggregated. This means that it is possible to both provide administrators with detailed information and management with aggregated information.
Flexible analyses enable easy access to the Report Writer, a user-friendly tool with which you can create reports for various analyses. The Report Writer is integrated in other SAP applications, such as Extended General Ledger and Cost Center Accounting.
Evaluation structures form the interface to the Report Writer. Evaluation structures consist of characteristics and key figures and are easy to construct. An evaluation structure with the same name exists for each information structure in the standard system.Even the self-defined information structures created in Customizing can be evaluated via the flexible analyses.
Evaluations:You can create an evaluation on the basis of the evaluation structure.
To define an evaluation, all you need to do is select the characteristics and key figures you require (pick-up technique). One of the especially useful features here is that you have the option of tailoring the layout of your report to suit your particular requirements. You can also define extra key figures for the reports, which are derived from existing key figures by means of calculation formulas. You can thereby multiply the key figures or divide one key figure by another.
    ============================================================
In addition to the above you can also edit a report in logistics module with the help of a report writer. below mentioned is the process for it.
It is now possible to edit your report data using the Report Writer. You can also change the layout of the report. The most important functions of the layout design are summarized below.
Summation levels:In the report screen, you can use the menu sequence View ->Summation level to specify the number of summation used to calculate total values. All totals that do not lie within the specified interval will be hidden. A summation level corresponds to a hierarchical level (for example, material level). Summation level 1 is the lowest hierarchical level. Summation level 2 is the next level up, and so on. The individual values are on the summation level 0.
The summation levels can be specified both universally (for the entire report) or locally (for specific blocks of rows). In this case, the local settings overwrite global values.
Report views:If a report is displayed on the screen, the Report Writer will then set page breaks so that exactly one page fits into the current window. This view will be defined as the standard view. As the Report Writer always processes exactly one page, you can only use the page keys and page icons to page up and down; the scroll bars cannot be used.
The page view can be determined via Settings-> Page view. The page breaks in the page view correspond to those defined in the report layout.
Hide and show rows:The function Edit->Hide rows exclude certain preselected areas of your report from the display. You can undo this command with Edit ® Show rows.
Expanding and collapsing report rows:View-> Hierarchy->Collapse allows you to hide the report rows of the sub-trees that are located underneath. View->Hierarchy ->Expand allows you to undo this command level by level.
If you want to display all the report rows that were hidden by collapsing the hierarchy or restricting the summation levels, select, View->Hierarchy-> Expand all.
View->Collapse all allows you to reduced every row block to the highest summation level.
Texts and Annotations:You can create an annotation for your report.
    Select: Extras->Annotation.
You branch into the text editor of the Report Writer.
Via the menu sequence Settings->Texts, you can create and format a title page, the last page, as well as headers and footers using word processing functions.
For example, you can store variables in the header for the author of the report, the date of the selection or the name of the person who last changed the report.
Layout parameters:Using the menu sequence Settings->Layout you can specify the page format, display form, rows and columns of the report according to your needs and you can determine the settings for the graphics function. You can make these layout settings with Report->Save settings.
Hope I had been able to help you to some extent. please assign points as reward.

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • Serial Write - 8Mb file to write. Write command can only do 256 Bytes at a time. How to split up?

First, thanks for this resource. I've used this forum quite a bit as a "lurker" and it's gotten me this far. Hoping to learn a bit, so I can contribute
    Anyway, my issue is this:
I am ultimately trying to write an 8Mb binary file to an 8Mb Serial Flash device via the Total Phase Aardvark. The writes to the flash device I am using are limited to 256 bytes per write command. The vi program attached is capable of writing 256 bytes at a time, but not anything more. I realize I need to incorporate some sort of "For Loop" (and I understand that I'd want to do it =(File Size)/256 interations, but I can't seem to figure out how.
Does anyone have any quick advice to drive me in the right direction?
    Thank you!

Well, you seem to have answered your own question, so it's not clear what your specific issue is. Is it how to extract 256 bytes at a time?
As for the code... umm... I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to accomplish with the whole top half of your code, but it seems to me that almost the whole thing can be replaced by a single call to the Read Binary File function. What is the format of these binary files?

The report i try to generate has about 500 lines, uses a number of existing sets and has simple formulas in it. When i restrict the number of rows to say 400 I donu2019t have the issue. Is there a restriction to rows in report writer?
    Thanks for your help
    Kai

    Hi,
The error you are receiving could be caused by a large number of row blocks in your report definition, (you can check the report definition with report RGRRDC00). A report should not contain too many row and column blocks. It is not possible to give an upper bound for the number of row blocks (since the length of the coding depends on other parts of the report as well). However, even a complicated Report Writer or Report Painter report should not contain more than 50 row blocks, and reports with more than 100 row blocks should not be defined.
In this case the report(s) have to be redefined. Please also refer to the note 387916 for further information regarding this issue.
When there are more than 30 variables in a report, please have a look at the note 332091.
Please reduce the number of row blocks in the report by using the function 'Edit' -> 'Rows' -> 'Explode' in the Report Painter
definition. This function enables several rows to be created for one row block (in the Report Painter definition one row block is just one row). Report Painter (and Report Writer) are designed to display hierarchical reports where the rows in the few row blocks are built up using the 'Explode' function.
    regards
    Waman

My report has 1 row of profit center which is variablized for user selection, when a user wants to see a report for a certain range of profit centers, he will enter that in the selection criteria, the report comes out looking fine how I want it but when I turn the excel integration on , I want all the profit centers that were selected in the selection screen to appear in a seperate tab in excel..
So one tab per profit center chosen , How do i do that?
    please help, urgent.
    thanks.

    Hi,
    Use section option,
Edit--- sections-New section (with profit center range).
    Thanks

  • Unable to run discoverer report from command prompt

    Hi,
I'm trying to run the discoverer report from command prompt and i need to schedule the same.
How could i pass multiple values for the parameters?
If i don't pass the optional parameters, the parameter screen is getting pop-up? How to skip optional parameters?
Also, how to pass the data ranges (format for date parameters) ?
I'm using the below command in command prompt:
    cd/d E:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin
    dis51usr /connect username/password@database /opendb "TIMS-PCJ status Report" /sheet "TIMS observation status report (based on performed date)" /parameter "Test Number" 40351 /parameter "From Date" "01-JAN-2007" /parameter "To Date" "28-FEB-2007" /parameter "Observation Status" C /parameter "Observation Name" "Abdominal Girth" /export HTML "C:\DISCOVERER_REPORT_SCHEDULING\DIS_OUTPUT\PCJStatusOutput11"
Any one please reply me. Its very urgent.
    Regards,
    Sreedhar

    Hi,
How could i pass multiple values for the parameters? You should be able to use a comma separated list e.g.
    /parameter "Observation Name" "'Abdominal Girth','Abdominal Girth2'"
How to skip optional parameters?I don't think you can. You have to supply all parameters and then decode out the parameters you don't need in the workbook.
how to pass the data ranges You cannot pass a date range. You can pass a start and end parameters. The default format for the date parameters is DD-MON-YYYY but this can change depending on the NLS settings and format of the data item.

  • Modifications in Transaction  S_ALR_87013611( Report Writer )

    Hi Gurus,
I have a Standard transaction S_ALR_87013611 which in turn calls the transaction KSB1.This former transaction is developed using report writer. The Issue is that when I give Cost Center Values twice in the selection screen with multiple values , I get two cost centre values with same number and the corresponding values are added. So I need to restrict the Cost Centre values in the selection screen to unique values. And for that I need to modify the report . So if anyone have ever worked with report writer or report painter, please tell how to modify the report and add our own coding as in the case of ABAP Query.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for not replying...I have found the solution myself

  • Error message in report writer when add new selection filed?

    Dear All,
I wanna add a new selection field cost element group and cost element to a report in report writer. I key in GR52 and click the general data selection. I select the set variable &1KSTAR to enter into the set ID. But it shows me the following message:
Set cannot be used in Selection:
    Message no. GR807
    Diagnosis
You are trying to use a set in report maintenance.
The set cannot be entered in the report definition for any of the dimensions for which the set could be used.
The following error message describes why the set cannot be used for all the dimensions for which the set can be used.
    System Response
The set will not be entered in report maintenance.
    Procedure
    Choose an appropriate set.
What does it mean? I have tried other set variables but sitll gave the same message.
    Thank you and good day.
    Emma.

At the same time, it gave me a green light message saying:
Characteristic Cost Element is already used in a row
    Message no. GR465
    Diagnosis
The characteristic Cost Element is already being used in a report row block and therefore cannot be used in a different part of the report.
Technical note:  The field name for characteristic Cost Element is KSTAR.
Does it mean I have used the cost element in the report and blocked the cost element so that I can't use it in the selection screen? How can I solve this by not changing the report or should I change the report?
    Thank you and good day

  • Report Writer Issue

    Hi Gurus,
I have created report ZTEPCA12 with report writer .When i check the syntex i am getting the error.
The key figure cell ZTEPCA12 has not yet been defined
        Message no. GR687
Can any one please tell me where do i need to define this.
    Thank in advance

    Hi,
Go into GR32, select the report you have created in change mode.  Go to the columns, and view the key figure set.  In there you would have defined a set of key figures, which are basically value fields.
The reason for the error could be that you have entered a key figure set there but not defined the set with the key figure fields or you would not have entered a key figure set in the report itself.
Go into GS02 and enter the set name and include the key figures in the column From value from the table defined in the set.
If the set does not exist then create a key figure set with key figures.
    Cheers.
