Reporting a ML Bug on MacBooks from 2010 with Dedicated Graphic

Hello Guys, how are you?
I found a bug in the Macbooks from 2010 with a Dedicated Graphic.
As you can see on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mwQ4YR1w2s  When Im try to take a selected area to printscreen with the CMD + Shift + 4 my mouse pointer was so laggy, skipping...
After tests, i found the problem.
The problem is when the macbook is using the Intel HD Graphics 288.When I'm using a OpenGL app or disabling the Advanced Graphics Switch on the Energy Save option, this problems doesnt occur.
Please Apple, again no, my macbook was so bugg on the Lion and my hope to it be fixed on ML was a illusion.
Anybody with a MacBooks from 2010 with Dedicated Graphic can test this too and confirm my test?
Thanks a lot guys,
Wagner

So I just bought a used MacBook from Amazon with OSX 10.5.8.  I am trying to install new software and operating system, but I don't have the passwords to the Users set up in the computer.  What do I do?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

  • HELP! Macbook Pro lag with automatic graphics switching

    Hi people,
My macbook pro (2010 edition) recently got laggy. I have no idea whether it is because I installed too many applications or if a hidden application is eating into my RAM. When I turn off the automatics graphics switching to the more powerful Nvidia graphics card, the lagging disappears completely. However, with the switching turned on, lagging occurs in just about every function I use, whether it is to check Microsoft Entourage email, surf safari, or scroll along my dock. The lag is not significant, but many less than a half second of freezing and then resuming. Videos streamed online become more laggy.
This did not happen before, although I vaguely remember having the automatic graphics switching turned on perpetually when I first bought my MBP as an energy saving measure.
Does anyone experience this same problem with the graphics switching. Looking for serious help. If not, I think I might try restoring my MBP to its factory settings and see if that helps.
I updated all software on OS X, running on 4gig ram. I am not sure if it is a memory problem because of the graphic switching situation I mentioned earlier.
    Somebody help me.

    Thanks Clinton,
I had a funny feeling that would be my only option. It becomes very difficult in my part of the world to get to an Apple store (the nearest one is nearly 2 hours away).
I would love to find out what the cause is and possible remedies.
Although far from convenient this maybe my only option.
    Thanks for you help.
If anyone else has experienced similar issues and already received advice after a trip to the Apple store I would be interested to know more about your experiences / possible solutions.
    Regards,
    Phil

  • Use of discrete graphics causes hard crash - (MacBook Pro 2010 with ML 10.8.2/3)

I have a client with a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro. He was having crashes with Lion so I upgraded him to Mountain Lion 10.8.2. The crashes did not go away.
I troubleshooted and with the help of gfxCardStatus noticed that every time his machine went to use the discrete graphcis he got the gray hard crash screen and system had to restart. Back then I tried a beta of 10.8.3 and it didn't help.
I noticed that if I created another user account (profile) it would not crash when the discrete graphics card was called upon.
So, I re-installed the OS (to 10.8.2), created a new profile and manually migrated pictures, documents, keychain, mail, movies, music and re-installed the relevant Applications. Everything was working fine and my client went on a trip to Europe and soon the crashes began again. Then he upgraded to 10.8.3 and the crashes got even more frequent (it seems 10.8.3 puts more applications on the discrete graphics list so it switches even more).
I am wondering what could have caused the crashes to begin. It was before he upgraded to 10.8.3. Some application or something he was using must have changed a setting or corrupted something to cause the crashing to begin. I haven't done this yet, but I'm sure if I create another user account it won't crash on it.
Any ideas where to turn my attention to see what is causing the shift from his working user account to a crash-causing one?
He has iLife, Office 2011, Final Cut Pro X, iPhoto Library Manager, VLC, Audacity, DropBox, FileMaker Pro 11, Flip4Mac Player, Fuze, GotoAssist, Handbrake, Skype, iSkySoft DVD Creator, iSkySoft Video Convertor, Onyx and Skype.
I know there are *MANY* others having problems with the automatic graphics card switching and it seems some are having more problems when gfxCardStatus is installed?

    is this your MacBook:
TS4088- MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video
Take a copy of the article with you when you go for service. They need to run a SPECIAL diagnostic to decide whether you have this problem. Do not leave until they run the special diagnostic. The "overnight run" does not detect this problem.
If they confirm you have the problem, they will replace the graphics chip, which is part of the motherboard. be prepared to hand over your Mac for depot repair. (Your backups must be up-to-date).

  • Macbook Pro 2010 with 2 accounts, one really slow.

    HI everyone,
I seem to have an issue with my 2010 MacBook Pro 13". It's currently on the latest release of Mavericks. I have two user accounts, both admins. The original account is EXTREMELY SLOW or unresponsive. It shows a pixelated version of my previous desktop background which is odd. The other admin account was created at a later date and runs normally. User switching is less than enjoyable, too.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

  • How do I pair my macbook air 2010 with apple tv 2

    -

    Sorry, that is not possible.
As you can see here, that MacBook Air is too old to use AirPlay Mirroring:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support
You also cannot use an HDMI cable to "pair" your MacBook Air.  The reason is your model has a mini-display port (that looks like a Thunderbolt port, but is not).  Therefore, it cannot send audio to the Apple TV.

  • Macbook pro 2010 with 2 external monitors without its main display

Hi guys, I have been searching for a way to have 2 monitors without macbook's screen itself.
I'm aware of various adapters through usb and etc.
But Im thinking, if mac book is only capable of outputing 2 displays, why not outputing main display to one external monitor, instead of the screen on the computer, and the other external montior as a extra one?
Is it possible ?  so basically 2 external monitor with macbooks screen switched off.
I don't think apple tv can mirror one and add extra one   can it?
I just want 2 big monitors instead of 1 big monitor with 1 tiny screen of the laptop.

Maybe someone with a 2010 model will jump in and correct me, but as you only have a single Mini DsplayPort adapter, I don't think that it's possible to have two external models on a 2010 model. You can only do it on 2011+ via Thunderbolt using Thunderbolt Displays.
You might want to ask your question in the Apple Cinema Display forum, though. I'm just not aware that it can be done.

  • How can I prevent a macbook from syncing with my ical alerts.

I was attempting to share a photo stream from my ipod touch with a friend. At one point when I was trying to figure out how she could access it, I believe I entered my apple ID on her macbook to connect to the icloud.  She is now receiving alerts from my calendar.  How can we stop that?  What does she need to do on her end to disconnect?  Thanks.

If you go to Settings>General>Restrictions>Accounts (near the bottom) and set it to Don't Allow Changes it will disable the ability to change any of the iCloud settings, or settings for other accounts including email accounts, FaceTime, FaceBook, Twitter, the iTunes & App store ID, etc.  That would be your only option.  Also, as you may know, if you set restrictions make sure you write down the passcode; if you ever forget it you will need to restore the device as new, without using an backup (or restore a backup made before the restrictions passcode was set), in order to remove it.

  • I have a macbook from 2009 with no LCD screen on it but 100% working. What do you sugest I do with it

Ok, I have a MacBook laptop that I bought from some friends who smashed it. They trashed the screen but the rest works. I bought it for $20. Now what should I do with it. The specs are better then anyother computer I have and I would like to use it but I don't want to have to buy a new moniter or replace the computers. Is there anyway I can hook them up and get the best of both worlds or something like that?

    Try this:
Restart and hold the option key down. If you see two hard drive icons, select Recovery, and hit Return.
    Next follow these steps:
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Quit DU and restart.

  • After 10.8.2 update i can no longer wake my macbook from standby with keyboard when the lid is closed

I just updated to 10.8.2 and now i can no longer wake my macbook froom standby when the lid is closed, it directly goes back to sleep
    steps to reproduce:
    1. attach secondary monitor and keyboard
    2. close lid
    3. wait 5 seconds for going to standby
    4. press any key on keyboard and type in user-credentials (notice how the 2nd monitor becomes the mainscreen)
    5. wait 5 seconds
    6. standby again
    side note:
i also have sudo nvram boot-args="iog=0x0" enabled, because i like to not use the integrated screen when its attached to a secondary screen, but since it goes back to standby right after login this is pretty much pointless

Same here, I think changed something in 10.8.2 that wrecked the "Open-MBP Clamshell Mode."  sigh

  • Mac Mini from 2010 with Dell U2711 resolution question

I just hooked up a Dell U2711 monitor with the DVI cable. I should be able to get a resolution of 2560x1440 with that, but the highest res I have in my System Prefs is 1920x1080. Does anyone know what I need to do to get the max resolution?

*This model simultaneously supports 1920x1200 on a DVI or VGA display using the Mini-DVI port and 2560x1600 on a dual-link DVI display using the Mini DisplayPort (with an optional Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter).
    above from:

  • Energy usage (watt) of MacBook Pro 2010 with 8GB Ram and i7

I think of buying a MacBook Pro with 8GB, i7
(and SSD, but that's not important because it consumes less than HDD)
What is the energy consumption (in Watt) in idle state with display on under
    1) OSX
    2) Win7 (I need this for my job)

Well, I need a computer professionally. At least now.
But I want to keep my environments impact at a minimum.
So I need precise data to evaluate what I do:
money is one thing, because it's usually very finite,
but even more important is recyclability, energy, ...:
    10 Watts difference (e.g. for 8GB instead of 4GB?)
will yield, over mac lifetime of say 10 years (the laptop
im am currently typing on is 8+ years old, but is slowly
going towards being obsolete, even with ISA SSD upgrade):
    10 h/d * 365 d/y * 10 W * 10 y = 365000 Wh = 365kWh.
I try to save energy, so this is approx my direct energy usage
of 1 year (I have no car, do not fly, have no refrigerator,
do not heat my appartement above 10 deg Celcius, ...
    but strangely I have a computer and I am a programmer ...).
For me, it's important. It is relevant for my decisions:
    5 Watts? I will be tempted by 8GB. 10 Watts? I don't know.
(I do setup work, so I use VMs a lot, so I need quite some
    memory for that ...).
