Reporting Agent and Download Scheduler

Hello All,
    I have an issue with the Reporting Agent and Download scheduler. I am on BW 3.5. I am not familiar with the setup myself (I inherited it), and I would like some basic information.
   Essentially it was working fine until we added some new settings. Now, the Download Scheduler freezes mid-run - just stops - and I am guessing this has to do with the new settings that were created (not by me - again, I just inherited all this).
   Any help, suggestions, links to white papers (Google was NOT helpful) anything at all on this ancient technology would be appreciated.

Reporting agent - Back ground scheduling

Hello Gurus,
I am trying to schedule the reporting agent scheduling package in Background... Is it possible to schedule it in Background when executing via Process Chain.

But the situation that I am facing is.. I have a remote cube and the regular cube attached to a multiprovider which is used to reconcile BW report with that of R/3 tables.
When I execute the report in BW ... the data that is read from R3 tables ... it is under DIA process.
the time out is set to 20 minutes. and everytime the report is executed it is saying uncaught exceptiona and when I check in the log it says time exceeded.
Is there anyway that I can schedule the R/3 side job to a Background job (so that there would be no timeout).
I hope I am clear..
Please help me on this issue.

Reporting Agent and Process chain

Hi All,
We have requirement where every day we need to print some BW reports.
For this we have created reporting agent. But when we execute reports manually through reporting agent it works fine. But if we include reporting agent in process chain it does not work.
Is there something which we should take care of when we include reporting agent in Process chain? We are on version 3.1.

SLA Report generate and download automatically

Hi,
I u2018m looking for a way to generate SLA report automatically (in batch) and also download it to a file system or move it to a SAP Portal KM environment.
Has anybody an idea how I can doit ?

thank you for your answers.
you have to configure your button to submit the request "download". so give your
button the name "download" - you can set the display name like you want - but the >>"internal" name must be "download". Then you can use your condition as described.
... and .. the button must not have a target ...Sorry I think I was not clear enough on this. I allready did what you described without success. I thought there was some typo but I could not find one.
The button name is set to download and the condition is 'Request = Expression 1' in the select list and download in the textarea.
Unfortunately the process does not execute with this condition whereas it is executed when there is no condition. So I think there has to be some typo I did not recognized so I have to search again.
just make sure in your link that the :REQUEST is download
f?p=&APP:ID.:&APP_PAGE_ID.:&SESSION.:download:...

Reporting agent and translation

hi,
         when i go into rsa1 transaction.
i see two tabs which i am not familiar with
1.reporting agent
2. translation
i know few things about reporting agent that
we need to have a query with exceptions
so that we can assign this to ur mail for any exceptions
occuring in the query
but i dont have any clue about translations.
could any one suggest me

Exceptions is one part of the Reporting Agent.
You can create Print settings, precalculate web templates, value sets..etc.

Download scheduler Problem.

Hi,
I want to download the data from BW to XL files using reporting agent and download scheduler.
i have done all the settings(Query, web template, Reporting Agent, processed that Scheduling package). In the Document Overview i could see the data for processed schedulling package. we are using 3.1c. If i go with Download Scheduler, i'm getting.."YOU ARE NOT ASSIGNED TO ANY PACKAGES".
Any help, otherwise any other way to download the data?

Download Scheduler How to?

Dear All,
I have a report made in BEx Query Designer. The report comes fine in the browser.I haven't used download scheduler as of yet but I require the report to be scheduled everyday and the report be sent to the user's mailbox. How does the download scheduler work? How can we schedule it using reporting agent? How to work with the reporting agent? If anyone does have any documents on this issue can to send it to me at [email protected] or forward links to documents.

the download scheduler can be used to download a package - create a package for precalculation in the reporting agent and then open the same using the download scheduler and schedule the same...

i want to know the physical storage location of the HTML file , when i schedule a WAD report by using REPORTING AGENT , i can see it in transaction RSRAPS , but i want to know the location where it is stored can any one help me in this .

Usually doc's are stored in the SAP directory on the server SAP is running on.
It is usually
USR\SAP\-SID- on a one of the drives (D, F etc).
To get the technical name of the doc go to the doc in the Report Agent and right click on it, then goto the most right tab and you will find a logical and physical docs (that looks like so EF4DDB8E6B183B4D9797EE842C0EF0CC).
The physical is the one you need.

I am trying to determine the physical location of the pages produced by Reporting Agent Web Template Scheduling Packages ( i.e. From the Reporting Agent Web Templates go to 'Document Overview' then folders and contents in BW_REPORTING_AGENT_PAGE_STORAGE ).

How to fill data in reporting agent for alert

Dear friends
        i use alert for MM module , i can set this query in reporting agent and also maintain variant for this query.
        i can scheduling this alert. Scheduling is finished with no error but i am not geting any data.
      using this variant i can run this query in rsrt and BX , it give some result.
       so my que. is any other setting for alert or give me setp for creating alert.

Hi,
The functions of the reporting agent are triggered by Information Broadcasting.
The Reporting Agent was not developed any further. It was removed from the current version of the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can now only reach the Reporting Agent using transaction code REPORTING_AGENT.
Effects on the Dataset
A migration of Reporting Agent settings and Reporting Agent packages by broadcast settings is not planned.
No more new developments are being made for the Reporting Agent. The Reporting Agent functions are now covered by Information Broadcasting, SAP NetWeaver Portal and the Alert Framework. The Reporting Agent has been removed from the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can still maintain the Reporting Agent settings using the REPORTING_AGENT transaction. These settings can be maintained for queries and Web templates from SAP BW 3.x only.
General Practices with Migration
The system does not support the migration of Reporting Agent settings for information broadcasting.
The Reporting Agent is a tool used to schedule reporting functions in the background.
The following functions are available:
·        Evaluating exceptions
·        Printing queries
·        Pre-calculating Web templates
·        Pre-calculating characteristic variables of type pre-calculated value sets
·        Pre-calculation of queries for Crystal reports
·        Managing bookmarks
Note that you can only use the Reporting Agent if you are working with queries and Web templates in the SAP BW 3.x format.

Use
       1.      You make settings for the specified reporting functions.

       3.      You schedule scheduling packages as a job or within a process chain.
The last two points do not apply to managing bookmarks.
Structure
The Reporting Agent interfaces are made up of two tree structures in the functional areas Exceptions, Print, Web Templates, and Value Sets.
·         The left-hand tree gives you an overview of the available objects as well as the settings that have already been made. To give you a better overview, you can filter according to queries with settings in the Exceptions and Print functions.
·         The right-hand tree gives you an overview of the scheduling package and manages the background processing.
In the Bookmarks functional area, the Reporting Agent scheduler interfaces are made up of a single tree structure.

You have defined and actively saved one or more Reporting Agent settings.

Procedure
Select the setting that you want to schedule in the left Reporting Agent Settings tree in the Reporting Agent Scheduler.
Use drag and drop to assign the setting to the corresponding scheduling package in the right-hand tree.
If the selected Reporting Agent setting from the Exceptions or Print function areas relates to a query with variables, you must select a variant of the query so that the scheduling package can be scheduled.
You are in the view Change in the right-hand tree of the Reporting Agent Scheduler. From the scheduling package context menu, choose Assign Variants The Variant Catalog. dialog window appears.
Select the variant you want and choose Select. The system adds the selected variants in the right tree in the Reporting Agent Scheduler in the Variant column.
If you want to create a new variant for the required query or if you want to change variants already created, you have the option to process the variants in both the left and right-hand tree in the Reporting Agent Scheduler.
Select Maintain Variants via the context menu of the Reporting Agent setting. You the see a screen on which you can process the variants for the selected query ( Create, Display, Change).
Select the required variants as described above.
Choose Next.
You use this function to monitor and change the time and date settings on the mobile device.

     You have assigned the mobile device to a particular time zone.
     The synchronization service has been configured.

Download Scheduler - required authorization?

Hi,
I have prepared precalcalculated report for user and he is supposed to
be able to download this report using the download scheduler. But when he runs
the download scheduler an error message occurs before it finishes. I tried
giving him a SAP_ALL access just to test if it has something to do with his
BW authorization, and it did work. Does anyone know what authorization
object I used for this (of course I can't give him SAP_ALL).

Hi,
You can go to 'help.sap.com' and use the following path:
SAP BIW-> Data warehousing -> Data warehouse management -> Authorisations -> authorisation for working with BEx -> Authorisations to work with a Query.
The above would provide you with a comprehensive list of all that is required.

Reporting Agent Issue

Hello,
When I run a job via the reporting agent, the last selection made in the variable is not taken into account.
I have 827 cost centers selected in my variable. The last value is not taken. I have tried to change the order, but still I don't receive the results for the last one.
I have 811 pages printed.
When I run the job with only the missing value of the cost center I receive the correct result.
Does anyone have an idea of why this is happeniing ?

In fact, I had already checked this before, and there was no restriction on the number of pages.
I am facing a very strange problem:
if I run a query with a selection on 2 cost centers : A and B, then the results are as expected.
I print the same query with reporting agent, and I receive only results for cost center A.
With reporting agent, if I make a selection in the variable only on cost center B, I receive the results for cost center B.
Very strange, isn't ?
Any idea ?
