Reporting Agent filename convention and result directory

Hi Experts,
We are using BW 3.1 so the questions below are refering to this version of BW.
I have to run a query on a monthly basis which has many results depending on a cost center input.
The problem is that I need to make a standard filename convention for the query results such as xxxxxx_yyyymm.html where xxxxxx is the actual cost center value, yyyy is the actual year and mm is the actual month.
Is it possible to set this kind of naming convention in the Reporting Agent?
Furthermore, I have to move the results into a standard directory of the Business Explorer Analyzer, namely EAIFILES/.....
Can I redirect the results into the specified folder?

Dear Dezso,
unfortunately this is not possible in Standard,
you can download the data per download scheduler and send it to you needed location.
In Transaction RSRAPS you can see the created files, it is not possible to change the file name.
We have a solution to read the index file and rename the files to customized file names like yours, its possible but its alot of work.

Hi Sivakumar,
AET is the best way by far to create a custom field in this area. It is easy and simple.
Also, field once added in one business object it can be used at different objects as well.
There is also a demo available for AET on sdn.

Use reporting agent to run and e-mail a query to users

Hi All,
I have a requirement where, I have to use reporting agent to precalculate a BW query and then broadcast the result to e-mail addresses.
Is there any way I can do this?

the only thing you have to do (in addition to the normal procedure described here) is to set an exception always true (in order to have always your follow-up action, that is the mail to your users !)

Filename Conventions and Compatibility

WINDOWS CONVENTIONS
Windows has a maximum PATH length of 260 characters, so that includes
the drive letter (+ colon and backslash) folder and sub-folder names and
back-slashes.
Under Windows using the NTFS file system file and folder names may be up
to 256 characters long.
The following characters are invalid as file or folder names on Windows
using NTFS:
/ ? < > \ : * | " and any character you can type with the Ctrl key.
In addition to the above illegal characters the caret ^ is also not
permitted under Windows Operating Systems using the FAT file system.
In addition to these characters, the following conventions are also illegal:
Placing a space at the end of the name
Placing a period at the end of the name
The following file names are also reserved under Windows:
com1, com2, com3, com4, com5, com6, com7, com8, com9, lpt1, lpt2,
lpt3, lpt4, lpt5, lpt6, lpt7, lpt8, lpt9, con, nul, and prn
MACINTOSH OS 9 CONVENTIONS
The only illegal character for file and folder names in Mac OS 9 is the
colon ":"
File and folder names may be up to 31 characters in length
MACINTOSH OS X CONVENTIONS
Since Mac OS X is build on top of UNIX there are a few inherent
conventions that OS 9 users may not expect. Because of this, migrating
certain files and folders from OS 9 to OS X may cause unexpected behavior.
The only illegal character for file and folder names in Mac OS X is the
colon ":"
File and folder names are not permitted to begin with a dot "."
File and folder names may be up to 151 characters in length
UNIX CONVENTIONS
A file name can be up to 255 characters long. This restriction is a
file name restriction not a path name length restriction.
A file name can contain any character at all with the exception of
slash ("/") which is used as a path name component separator and NUL (a
character with all bits set to zero) which is used internally as a file
name terminator. Thus a file name could consist entirely of space and
back space characters.
All characters are significant. In other words the Unix file naming
system is case sensitive. Lower case file names are more common than
upper case file names.
File names do not have components or extensions. You can have as many
dots as you like (up to 255 !) in a Unix file name. Many applications,
however, regard the part of a file name after the last dot as having
special significance.
As any freshly created directory will contain entries "." and ".." (dot and
dot-dot referring to the current directory and the parent directory,
files cannot be named "." and ".."
WEB CONVENTIONS
All filenames in URI's should conform to RFC 1630 (no spaces, necessary to escape characters etc.)

Event Agents (eg Database and Active Directory)

Is there any documentation on external event agents and their corresponding arguments?
I'm wondering how I can monitor for changes on a specific table (eg. change of a phonenumber).
On the other side, we would like to "monitor" for changes in actice directory.

Hi Martin,
let's do some steps to monitor your column in the table:
1. New -> Event agent. The wizard opens.
2. Select your database repository (you mentioned that you've already have one)
3. Select "Database Table Field"
4. Type in a name
5. Type in the table name and the column name below
6. Select the job you want to execute
7. After the wizard has finished: Select your service or first create a new one if you haven't done this already (have a look at the documentation)
The job you have selected could have a to Identity Store Pass.
- Source tab: The table you are monitoring
- Destination tab: Select the entry types and attributes for which you do the mapping.
- Delta tab: It's important to enable delta. Then you will get the information about new, modified or deleted entries. With a delta, already existing values are not imported again.
To get the information about changes in detail, you could create more tasks with jobs below, which you call, when changes occur.
- Create action tasks in your Identity Store. These tasks will get the added/modified/deleted entry in the source tab of the passes below the jobs.
- In your Identity store schema, select the entry type or attributes you are monitoring (to which you mapped the column of your table column earlier)
- Select your event tasks

Reporting Agent versus Query

Hi,
I run a query in the BEx by selecting 2 cost centers A and B and I receive both results.
When I execute the job with the reporting agent I receive only the first cost center.
How can I debug this ? Any idea what could be the reason ?

The query gives the expected results.
The problem is that the reporting agent doesn't give the result of one cost center. I use the reporting agent to print the results of the query.
Cost centers are given as a selection in the query.

Reporting Agent - Alert Views & Alert Details repeating twice

Hi All,
I have configured reporting agent settings for a BW Query. The exceptions will be communicated through email. The email has been configured to output Alert Views & Alert Details. However when we recieve the email, the alert views, details as well as the URL is repeating twice. Is there a way to correct this issue. Also URL sometimes is not full, it truncates for some reason. Please advise.

Hi,
Reporting agent is available and can be used in BI 7.0 with running reporting_agent transaction but SAP recommends to use information broadcasting instead reporting agent.
Note that you can only use the Reporting Agent if you are working with queries and Web templates in the SAP BW 3.x format.As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the Reporting Agent functions are covered by Information Broadcasting.

UCCX reports - Agent State Summary

I'm running the above report Agent State Summary and have a question on the columns
The total logged in time is as it states, the amount of time an agent is logged in
Not Ready - Amount of time they are in a not ready state within the Total Logged in time
Ready State- same as Not Ready - Time within the Total Logged in time
Now the question
Example of the states below
Total Logged in time 10 hours
Not Ready 2 hours 20%
Ready 6 hours 60%
Talk time 1 hour 10%
Work time 30 hour 5%
Reserve time 30 mins 5%
Does this mean the agents only spent 10% of their time actually talking to the customer and potentially 60% of the time waiting for callers?

Just one more thing. for example SLA on the CSQ is set to 10 secs
Call is offered to the agent via Resource commend but the agent does not answer so RONA (15sec) is invoked and the call is re-queue - Does this impact SLA?
No agents are available so the call is queued with IVR- Does this impact SLA ?
Basically I guess the SLA is impacted if the call is either ringing on an agents phone after the 10 Sec SLA but answered or returned to queue if the RONA is say 15 secs - either way the SLA is impacted is this correct?
Sorry for the "obvious " question but customer stated that she was informed the SLA is only impacted on "ringing" time on the agents phone and not if the call is queuing, listen to on hold while queuing

Reporting Agent and Process chain

Hi All,
We have requirement where every day we need to print some BW reports.
For this we have created reporting agent. But when we execute reports manually through reporting agent it works fine. But if we include reporting agent in process chain it does not work.
Is there something which we should take care of when we include reporting agent in Process chain? We are on version 3.1.

this should work in 8.0 and 8.5:
SELECT
ag.PeripheralNumber AS [LoginID],
al.Extension,
al.LogoutDateTime
FROM [instance]_hds.dbo.Agent_Logout al
JOIN [instance]_awdb.dbo.Agent ag ON al.SkillTargetID = ag.SkillTargetID
Of course, replace [instance] with the ICM instance.
The query returns a table with three columns, first is the login ID aka PeripheralNumber, Extension is... well, the agent's extension, and LogoutDateTime is the timestamp when the agent logged out.

Reporting Agent and Download Scheduler

Hello All,
    I have an issue with the Reporting Agent and Download scheduler. I am on BW 3.5. I am not familiar with the setup myself (I inherited it), and I would like some basic information.
   Essentially it was working fine until we added some new settings. Now, the Download Scheduler freezes mid-run - just stops - and I am guessing this has to do with the new settings that were created (not by me - again, I just inherited all this).
   Any help, suggestions, links to white papers (Google was NOT helpful) anything at all on this ancient technology would be appreciated.

Hi,
->Create and save a workbook
->Open the created workbook in the in the Bex Analyzer
->go to Bex Analysis Toolbox and click on Tools button
->Login to the IB page to create settings
->create a new setting by giving the appropriate e-mail id
->In the Texts tab give the subject and Text
->Provide the variable and server details
->click on schedule and give appropriate date and time.

i see two tabs which i am not familiar with

i know few things about reporting agent that
we need to have a query with exceptions

Exceptions is one part of the Reporting Agent.
You can create Print settings, precalculate web templates, value sets..etc.

Reporting Agent Excel size lot

Hi,
I am using reporting agent to run a query, when I downloaded it as excel it shows the size is 296000 kb.
but when i open it and save as another file name the size shows only 20000 kb.
Big different.
Is there any idea why the reporting agent process files ( excel) size is so big.
Is there any way to reduce the size of the file.

If I understand.. you mean you have the file name but not the path or directory.. If this is the case. why dont look at FILE transaction ..on your left hand side..you shd see coupel of options like file, directory..system variables..etc.
choose the one for filename and give your filename.. it would give you virtual filename..and path..and you can get real apth name if you play around..with the options here.
