Reporting point installation issues

OK I have inherited a SCCM SCOM environment and all DBs including WSUS are installed in the same instance.  Yuck.  I made a fuss to the DB Admins and they said Oh Its fine, you just need to install seperate SSRS instances and it will work, look
see here is an article stating so.
So I have installed seperate SSRS instances and am trying to get the reporting point to install with no luck.  Anyone have the steps involved in getting this working?  When I go to add the reporting point no SQL instance is showing up to select
from.  Please help.  Thanks kindly.

Hi,
This problem might be related to firewall. You could have a look on the following thread.

  • FIM Reporting Re-Installation Issue

We have recently upgraded the entire FIM Environment from 4.1.3451.0 to 4.1.3510.0
For FIM Service, I have un-installed Reporting feature, installed the patched successfully, however when trying to re-install Reporting feature back onto the FIM Service Node it throws KB2561430 missing error. I have made sure KB2561430 and all the latest SCSM
Cumulative updates are in place on SCSM and all the FIM Service Nodes
I tried to install the Reporting feature using the work around provided by MS, tried to install it using the command line for unattended installation and have made sure the value for EXISTINGDATABASE=1 and other parameters passed in the command are correct.
The unattended installation goes through fine, however I don't see Reporting feature installed when we go through Add/Remove Programs.
Can I remove FIM Service completely from the Server and try a clean install instead.
Has anyone experienced this kind of an issue, Any advice will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Abhishek.

    Hi,
Install update 4.1.3461.0. Refer below link, it will resolve this issue.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2870703
    Enayathulla.S
Why do you propose earlier patch once they patched it with more current version?
    Abhishek,
You have uninstalled reporting and, during command line patching, you have re-used the same database. The same, so
without reporting. So behaviour is OK. You should use command line with EXISTINGDATABASE=1 but with SERVICE_MANAGER_SERVER=SCSMSERVER also.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 Installation Issue, key code not valid

    Folks,
We have just purchased two licenses for the Crystal 2011 upgrade from DigitalRiver.  The installation completes successfully, using one of the two "digital rights" keys that were provided in the confirmation email from DigitalRiver.
Upon launching Crystal Reports 2011 for the first time, though, we are being prompted with a License Manager window asking to add a key code for Crystal Reports.  We enter the "digital rights" key provided by DigitalRiver, the same one used during the installation [copy and pasted from the email for accuracy] and receive the error message "The key code you just typed is not valid, please try again."
Canceling this window or clicking Ok simply closes the Crystal Reports application.
Any assistance in how to get the application running would be helpful.
    Tested Environments:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1, 32bit
Visual Studio 2010 w/ CR for Visual Studio 2010 installed
    Windows Server 2008 R2, 64bit
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Follow-up:
We went through several iterations of installation and finally decided to mix things up to see if we could get a different response from the software.  The items that we performed differently were as follows:
    1.  Ran the setup.exe as administrator [even though we have full admin access as the logged in user]
    2.  Hand typed the digital rights key rather than cut/paste from the email
    3.  Performed a custom installation rather than the default and de-selected all of the SAP and other software integration options.
The software ran fine without prompting with the License Manager.
My guess is that it was the removal of the integration pieces that allowed the application to run.  We'll perform our next install with just that change and see if it is the culprit.

Getting below error message at the time of installing FR studio from workspace. Error 401--Unauthorized From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1: 10.4.2 401 Unauthorized The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials, then the 401 response indicates that authorization has been refused for those credentials. If the 401 response contains the same challenge as the prior response, and the user agent has already attempted authentication at least once, then the user SHOULD be presented the entity that was given in the response, since that entity MAY include relevant diagnostic information. • SCCM 2012 R2 - Reporting Services Point installation - "The Datasource does not exist"

    Hi all,
Quick bit of background, we have SCCM 2012 R2 installed on a Windows 2012 R2 server. We have the SQL back end off box, configured on a SQL 2012 R2 server running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 cluster. Then there is yet another server which runs the reporting
services. I've just tried installing the Reporting Services Point on the srs server but it doesn't appear to have worked that well. Here's the info i've got back:

Has anyone come across this issue before? Must admit, I'm not too hot on the sql side of things so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, cheers for the swift response.
Garth, i can access SSRS in IE from the SCCM box and it looks a-ok.
Paul, nope can't say I've done any configuration of reporting services - the whole thing has been set up by the database team. Having had a trundle through Reporting Services Configuration Manager, it seems the Database team have set up SSRS in line with
    the walkthrough you posted.
Since i'm not seeing the ConfigMgr_XXX folder appear in SSRS I'm wondering if there's something preventing SCCM from being able to create it. The message
    "Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions
granted to user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' are insufficient for performing this operation" sounds like the account SCCM is leveraging to perform the install might not have the right permissions in SSRS. Do i need to delegate specific rights to the NT
    AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account in SRS perhaps?

  • Crystal Report 9 performance issue wehn we move old DB to new DB server

We are using Crystal Reports 9 version, recently we move to new database server and reports data source are pointing to Old database server and old database server is no longer in the network.
, Now we have issue with the performance, if the we call the reports from web application, it is talking long to retrieve the report at least 1 min.. , if we manually update the report data source pointing to new server and the reports are pulling in 1 second, Is there any easy solution to update all the report pointing to new server, we have 3000 reports, we can not use manual process, it will take long time and it is also issue with the future if we change the server.
    Thanks!
    Ram

The 1 minute timeout is due to ODBC driver trying to connect, it's the default timeout you are seeing. There is not tool Cr has to migrate/update database connection info. You can develop your own though or search the web for a third party tool, I'm sure there are lots out there.

  • SMS SRS Reporting Point - 7403 at regular time intervals

    Hi,
At regular time intervals I see a 7403 error message in the "SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT" component appearing in my ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 environment. SQL Server 2012 is used.
My reports are working fine and accessable via the Console and URL. This error 7403 appears twice a day. The srsrp.log states the following at the moment of the issue:
    STATMSG: ID=7403 SEV=E LEV=M SOURCE="SMS Server" COMP="SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT" SYS=servername SITE=XXX PID=8180 TID=6516 GMTDATE=Tue Aug 27 04:58:18.849 2013 ISTR0="servername" ISTR1="" ISTR2="" ISTR3=""

A few minutes before and after the health check is successful.
I found out that at the moment of my 7403 error, the SQL RS recycle process is started. The log file reportserverservice.log looks like:
06:55:58:: i INFO: Recycling the service from the default domain
The recycle time of SQL Reporting services is configured at 720 minutes, so each 12 hours.
Can someone tell me if this is normal and how I can avoid the 7403 error?
    Thanks.

  • Error creating custom reports. Permissions issue with custom reports

I am having permission issues with reports. I am building a new Configuration Manager  2012 infrastructure and I have configured the Site server on Server1 and the DB is on Server2. Server2 also hosts the Reporting Point and SSRS roles/features. If
I look in Monitoring at the Site Status and Component Status are all green no issues with the setup.
Running SQL 2008 SP2 (no CUs). I have a service account that I used to install Configuration Manager and SQL. This service account is running the SQL service on Server2 and i am using the same account as the Reporting Services Point Account.
I log into the SCCM console with a different user account, lets call it Admin1. This account is a member of the Full Administrator role. I can run any built in report.
When I open the SSRS website and try to create a custom report I connect the DataSource using Windows Authentication. So the Datasource is connecting using the logged in users account. In this case Admin1. I test the connection and it connects fine.
I test this query. (Select * from v_R_System) I only have about 10 workstations discovered so the report shouldn’t be very big. I get an error “The Select permission was denied on the object ‘v_R_System’, Database ‘CM_XXX’, schema ‘dbo’. (Microsoft sql server,
    Error: 229)”
I have fixed the SELECT permission error by going into the database (using SQL Management studio) and granting Admin1 Select rights to the Configuration Manager database. I can now run the above query and make custom reports.
My 2nd problem is that other members of the Full Administrator role cannot run these custom reports unless I go into the database and grant them the SELECT permission.
    Question:
Should I have to manually go into the database to add SELECT permissions(i could use a group)? shouldnt Configuration Manager take care of this for me?
Maybe the built in reports use the SQL service account rights and the custom ones do not? Am I doing something wrong with the Datasource when I create these custom reports?
What is the correct process for creating custom reports?

I think i am getting closer to a solution. After the Custom report is created. i can go back into the report. Delete the DataSource. Then browse for a dataSource. there is a datasource located in http://server2/reportserver/ConfigMgr_XXX/
That datasource is used by all builtin reports. if you view the properties on the Credentials tab it is set to "do not use credentials" and the option is greyed out / cannot be changed.
it looks like i still need the SELECT permissions on the database to create the report initially but at least i have solved the problem with viewing these reports.
Can anyone confirm that what i did is correct?

    Hi
Could it be, that the user which has opened the console to install the reporting service rule is not a Administrator on the SQL server?
For the wizard you need to be an administrator. Then, the installation will running under the site server system context.

  • Reporting Point role autoinstall several times

    Hi,
    I am using SCCM 2012 R2.
At Central Site there are the following messages at SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT component every day:
SMS Executive could not start this component because it could not load \"D:\SMS\bin\x64\srsrp.dll\" using the MFC AfxLoadLibrary() function. The operating system reported error 126: The specified module could not be found.
Possible cause: The DLL was somehow corrupted or deleted.
Solution: Restore the DLL by manually copying it from your installation media to \"D:\SMS\bin\x64\srsrp.dll\".
Possible cause: The file "D:\SMS\bin\x64\srsrp.dll" exists, but something else has changed the permissions or attributes of the file or the directory containing it.
Solution: Restore the file's permissions or attributes so that this ConfigMgr component can access the file.
Possible cause: The DLL depends on another DLL, which does not exist or cannot be found via the PATH environment variable.
Solution: Determine all of the DLLs that this DLL depends on (using Depends.exe from the Win32 SDK) and insure they exist and can be found via the PATH environment variable for the user account that the SMS_EXECUTIVE service runs under.
Site Component Manager is reinstalling this component on this site system.
Site Component Manager successfully reinstalled this component on this site system.
Site Component Manager started this component on this site system.
The Site Server is located at Azure, and D:\ is the Temporary Storage disk.
    The questions are:
There are guides/best practices about installing SCCM at Azure?
How would be installed the reporting point role at a server in Azure but not use the Temporary Storage disk?
Is it possible to change settings for reporting point to avoid the use of the Temporary Storage disk and use another disk (normal permanent disk)?
    Thanks in advance!

    Not that I know. Also, I'm not even sure it's already officially supported;
You could use the NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS file to prevent the usage of a specific disk (for more information, see:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2012/09/17/controlling-configuration-manager-2012-using-hidden-files.aspx);
    See previous answer.
