Reporting Services in SCCM Console (Cross Connect)

Hi,
we have a cas - primary site setup and have a reporting point on our cas server.
when connecting to the cas server with the sccm console from a client i see all reports and all is fine.
when connecting to the primary site server and type in the cas server in the reporting services pane i see no reports.
i thought that's possible. i can open the .../reportserver website with the client of course.
thx
steffen

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

  • Configuring Reporting services for SCCM 2012

    Hi,
I just finish create SQL reporting services ( configure Database, report manager URL) in SQL 2008 R2 for SCCM 2012. When I open the Report option in SCCM console (Monitoring --> Report), no report listed there and then I try to add in Reporting service
point for it, but get an error message
"There is a problem connecting to the specific reporting server. Please check the connection and make sure SQL reporting service is running on the specified server"
I manually browse to http://sqlserver/reportserver or
http://sqlserver/reports , that is no any folder exist there (I assume when I configure reporting service it will automatic create a folder for it with all report inside?). Anyone can guide me on how to solve this issue?

  • Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?

Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example
License Topologies and Costs for SQL Server 2014 Self-Service Business Intelligence
With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.
SharePoint EE + SQL Server 2014 EE
    Excel Services
SSRS Add-in (Reporting Services, Power View)
SQL Server DB for SP Content, Configuration and Service Application DB:s
SQL Server 2014 EE - SharePoint + Standalone for BI
    SSRS SharePoint Mode
    SSRS Native Mode
SSAS (Not in SharePoint mode, skipping PowerPivot for now. Would Power View still work?)
SQL Server DB for Data Warehouse
= 1 x SharePoint EE Server Licence, 2 x SQL Server 2014 EE Server Licenses?
    Deployment
Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.
Fallback or even beneficial option to install SSRS in SharePoint mode on the SQL Server instance used for content and configuration?

    Hi Daniel Wikar,
As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

  • Reporting services instance not able to connect from SSMS

    Hi All,,
I have installed SQL SERVER 2012 on Windows 8.1. I configured report server in native mode.
      * Reporting services is in started state
      * SQl server service is in started state
      * Sql serevr agent is in started state
      * SQL browser is in started state
When i tried to connect Report server instance using SSMS i got the below error.
    TITLE: Connect to Server
    Cannot connect to .
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Unable to connect to the server at . The specified URL might not be valid or there might be a problem with the report server version or configuration. Specify a different URL, or contact your server administrator to verify that the report server runs SQL Server
2008 or later. Additionally, if you are trying to connect to a SharePoint-integrated report server, verify that SharePoint is installed on the server and that the report server uses SharePoint integrated mode. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)
    BUTTONS:
    OK
When i connect using http://localhost/reportserver I am getting below error
The permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.
    Though i am the administrator
And when i connect using below URL http://localhost/reports
I get Unable to connect to the remote server
Please suggest your input on the problem

    Hi Khushi N,
According to your description, you are administrator, when you tried to connect reporting services from SSMS, the error message occurred. When you tried to access report manager with the URL:
http://localhost/reportserver, you were prompted that the permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.
The Reporting Services error rsAccessedDenied occurs when a user does not have permission to perform an action. To troubleshooting this issue, please make sure that you have sufficient permission and the report server name is correct. You can use the reportserver
URL, e.g. HTTP ://<servername>/ReportServer, to log on the reporting service in SSMS.
In addition, by default, we could not access all of the report server properties available in SQL Server Management Studio unless we start Management Studio with administrative privileges. To configure Reporting Services role properties and role assignments
so you do not need to start Management Studio with elevated permissions each time, please refer to the following document:
From the Start menu, click All Programs, click SQL Server 2012, right-click Management Studio, and then click Run as administrator.
Connect to your local Reporting Services server.
In the Security node, click System Roles.
Right-click System Administrator and then click Properties.
In the System Role Properties page, select View report server properties. Select any other properties you want associated with members of the system administrators role.
    Click OK.
    Close Management Studio
The issue may be caused by the UAC or Internet Explorer security setting, please try to follow this steps:
    1. Open the Internet options of the IE and add the report server URL into trusted site in the Security tab.
    2. Run the IE as administrator.
For more information about Configuring a Native Mode Report Server for Local Administration, please refer to the following document:

  • Sql Server Web Edition Reporting Services errors when trying to connect to Windows Azure SQL

I am using a preconfigured image from the Azure VM Gallery to create a VM.
    --> Sql Server 2012 SP1 Web running under Windows Server 2008 R2
After configuring Reporting Services I get the following error when trying to run a report that connects to my Azure SQL db.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'SQLAZURE' that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. (rsDataExtensionNotFound)
On the VM using SSMS I can connect to the Azure SQL db.  On the VM in Report Builder when I define a connection I get a similar error to the one above when I test that connection.  I am using Microsoft Azure SQL as the data source type.
Interestingly in Report Builder, if I proceed past the connection definition, I can see the tables from my Azure SQL db in the dataset definition page.
One more note.  If I use a different image from the Gallery (Sql Server 2012 Standard SP1 on Windows Server 2012) my report builder connection works and the reports run fine.  I believe that the Azure documentation says that Sql Server Web edition
is an acceptable choice for the SSRS on VM for reporting.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks -- Tom Reilly

    Hello,
A VM with SQL Server 2008 R2 or 2012 supports all Reporting Services features, including all supported data sources, customization and extensibility, and scheduled report execution and delivery.
Did you run the report in Report Manager,or preview the report in Report Builder? Which version of the Report Builder you installed in the Windows Azure VM? SQL Reporting does not support reports created from Report Builder 1.0 or 2.0. You can create reports
using Report Builder 3.0 and then upload the reports.
What's more, please also check the database source credential of the report.

  • SCCM 2012 console cannot connect to the site

Last Friday for some unknown reason my SCCM console stopped connecting to the site. Reboots of both site servers (MP and database) did nothing. The error is the same as this picture:  http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q0A5GonM498/UCDkreFxc9I/AAAAAAAAAQk/67AQ5tGW_d4/s1600/SCCM%2BConsole.JPG.
I went home for the weekend and on Monday I was actually able to connect to the site. It would take about an hour, but finally the console would load, with the correct information from the site. If I clicked on a different area in the console it would take
forever (about 20 minutes), but it would finally change to that view as well. In troubleshooting I followed all the steps in the attached article, except rebuilding the MOFs.  (http://schadda.blogspot.com/2012/08/how-to-fix-issues-related-with_7.html)
After finding that none of that helped I installed CU4 hoping that would help. It completed, but with errors in building the four packages (console, x86, x64 and server). Now the console goes back to the original error and won't connect at all, including
    from the actual server.
I have checked and there does not appear to be any bottleneck between the two servers. Network is as it was previously and I can still telnet to the SQL port (1433) from the Management Point.
    Infrastructure:
2 servers, running Server 2012 R2 - one server is running everything except the SQL services; SQL Services are running on the second server
SCCM is at 2012 R2 level (now at CU4, was at CU3 at start of problem)
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Thx, Joe

Good advice Garth, but I have opened over 5 cases to try to resolve this and several other issues with my troublesome SCOM 2012 SP1 upgrade. That is why I am also sending it to the community in hope they can provide assistance.
CSS will only work on one specific issue and in most cases these are targeted bandaid fixes that DO NOT address the underlying or related issues. I a left to opening many tickets and still floundering with a unreliable product.
It seems to only be with System Center. All other products by Microsoft seem to be reliable and predicable and are easily supported using break fix support model of the current MS teams.
It is SQL (SSRS) that controls subscriptions not CM12. CM12 only leverages the APIs provided by SQL (SSRS).
I hate to say this but Why do you think this problem has anything to do with CM12?
If CSS tell you to re-create the subscription and the problem re-occurs then I would re-open the ticket and tell them that the problem is NOT fixed and to continue working on it.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Install - Reporting Services Point, Remote SRS Server

    Hi all,
Here's a brief run down of the setup so far. SCCM 2012 R2 installed on Windows 2012 R2 (SCCM01). SQL 2012 back end is off box, on a separate cluster (SQL01C01). Reporting Services for SQL 2012 is due to be installed on a different server (SRS01).
My question is, when I come to sort out Reporting Services in SCCM, will I simply need to add SRS01 into SCCM as a Site System Server and install the Reporting Services Point onto SRS01?
I realise I could simply wait for the sql guys to sort the install of SRS and then test it myself but it might be a while before that gets done so I thought I'd ask....Thanks for the help

will I simply need to add SRS01 into SCCM as a Site System Server and install the Reporting Services Point onto SRS01?
Correct, although the other way around. Remember you have to make SCCM01$ a local administrator on SRS01.

  • Reporting Services Point Role - Not installing

    Hi,
I installed SCCM 2012 R2 and SQL Server Standard 2012 with Reporting Services. SCCM is running in secure (HTTPS) mode for both MP and DP. I have also configured SQL Reporting Services WEB URL for HTTPS (443)
Now I'm trying to install the Reporting Service Point Role but it wont install.
If I check Monitoring --> Reporting --> Reports its blank. Reporting Services on SQL Server is working properly.
I have the following errors reported

  • Reporting Services 2012 for SharePoint and SQL Server Agent "Subscriptions and Alerts"

After installing Reporting Services for SharePoint (Denali) in my test farm, I'm trying to configure the "SQL Server Agent" access for Reporting Services.  From Central Admin I'm going to the Reporting Service applicaiton configuration screen and selecting
"Provision Subscriptions and Alerts".  I've tried both options on this screen.  I've manually executed the "download sql script" in SQL Server, as well as entering a user with SQL sys admin rights on the SQL server into the login fields on the screen.
The role and permissions have been created for the application pool service account, but Reporting Services is still trying to connect with the annonymous login because I'm getting the following alert each time I open the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts"
    screen:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'
The "status" on the screen still shows "SQL Server Agent State cannot be determined".  Has anyone else seen this?
    Thanks!!

    Thanks for your reply!
    1) Looks like the new Reporting Services does not run as a Windows Service so it's not listed in the "Configure Service Accounts" pulldown.  As a result, I don't see how to set the service account.  It's only assigned to an application pool.
I installed it into an existing application pool and that application pool "is" in the list and has a domain service account already assigned.
    2) Which users need to be in here in order to configure the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts" screen?  I already have the farm admin account which is the account I use when running Central Admin.
    3) As mentioned in #1, I've installed Reporting Services into an existing application pool with other service apps.
    4) This link is for Reporting Services 2008 R2 which is very different install process.  But I did follow the SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 RC0 installation instructions and the Reporting Services is functioning correctly with no errors.
I'm just not able to configure the sceduling the alerting with interfaces with the SQL Server Agent.
    Thanks!

We have a four server set-up where SCSM, SCDW, and sqls for both are on different servers. Also I have red that this could be a SPN problem, but this has  been worked on last week without the SPNs.

On the computer you get the "SQL Reporting Services server is currently unavailable" message please open the Internet Explorer and try to connect to the URL <a href="http:///reports">http://<NameOfReportingServer>/reports
This should open the reporting website in IE. If this isn't working you should check the proxy settings in IE. If the URL doesn't work in IE it won't work in the SCSM console as well (and vice versa).

Actually I can't access to the reporting website. It asks me credentials 3 times and then return a blank page. Also error message comes to the EventViewer System log with id 4 and source Security-Kerberos.
The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server "accountname".
The target name used was HTTP/"reporting services fqn". This indicates that the target server failed to decrypt the ticket provided by the client.
This can occur when the target server principal name (SPN) is registered on an account other than the account the target service is using.
Ensure that the target SPN is only registered on the account used by the server.
This error can also happen if the target service account password is different than what is configured on the Kerberos Key Distribution Center for that target service.
Ensure that the service on the server and the KDC are both configured to use the same password.
If the server name is not fully qualified, and the target domain (domain.com) is different from the client domain (domain.com), check if there are identically named server accounts in these two domains,
or use the fully-qualified name to identify the server.
I can access the website directly from the server which hosts Reporting Services.
Also I query "setspn -Q HTTP/"reporting services fqn" whit result NO SUCH SPN FOUND.

  • SCCM 2012 - Reporting Services - No Reports show up in Console!

    Hi,
I’m in the process of building our new 2012 SCCM infrastructure and have hit a small issue. When installing the Reporting services Point it appears to run through ok however no reports are populated.
    So far I’ve checked the:
    srsrpMSI.log - No Errors
    srsrpsetup.log - No Errors
However in the srsrp.log Im getting the following:
Successfully checked that the SRS web service is healthy on server SCCMPRISERVER.LOCAL

The above is repeated for all the standard reports you would expect to find..
The Primary site is windows 2008 R2(Fully Patched), SQL 2008 R2 Standard Sp1, with CU6 installed.
I’ve confirmed security accounts etc. I’ve also tried uninstalling/reinstalling SSRS and re-applying sP1 and CU6.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Pete

Hi, The thing is my domain account has local admin rights on the box and is set as a "Full Administrator" on all nodes in the console? Ive just tried right clicking on the console 'Run As Administrator', tried to install Reporting services but im still getting
    the same problem.
One thing I have noticed is that If i manually create the report directories it runs through ok and sets the permissions. However no reports are populated. I have alos tried manually importing one of the report.rdl files and this fails:
When it comes back with 'Failed to retrieve existing folder security for folder [Network Access Protection]' what actual folder security is it supposed to be checking? Is this in the actual DB?
    Thanks, Pete

  • Access to SCCM Reporting service without Console access.

    Hi,
Is there any way to give a AD Group or a user rights to run reports without giving access to open the sccm console?
    Regards,
    B

It seems like this guides is not valid because the user can run the reports but not able to see any data. This is discussed in posts also. We need to remove the Access to the console, run reports and also see data.
Exactly what rights did you give you security role?

  • Data Source security settings are revert back after correct it !! (SCCM Reporting Services Point)

I have a strange situation here: SCCM 2012 SP1 and all components are OK and running smoothly BUT all reports report the error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot impersonate user for data source 'DataSource2'. (rsErrorImpersonatingUser)
Log on failed. Ensure the user name and password are correct. (rsLogonFailed)
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I correct the password and click test connection and it is successful ...few seconds the setting revert back and if I change the settings totally it reverts back to as if something prevent it from change !!
the strange thing that I tried to remove the reporting services point from the site server and the reports worked well and the setting not change
what make the settings of the data source created by sccm 2012 reporting services point revert back preventing the report from running
by the way all authentication and permissions are given to the account that running reports and connects to the database
help me finding solutions and thanks for all great experts here

I am also experiencing this issue.  I have tried modifying the Data Source credentials directly from the data source configuration on our SSRS web site.  I have also tried changing it from the CM12 Console under the Reporting services
point, specifically the Reporting Services Point Account.  No matter how many times I change it, it will revert back to an account we don't want it conifigured for any longer.
Mucking around in the registry, I found the following keys that seem to reference the configuration:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP\Datasource
It appears as though the Datasource key contains the configuration under two String Values:
    Reserved 1 = User name
Reserved 2 = guessing encrypted hash of password
Doesn't seem like it is even an option to change the configuration here, but at least this is some more info.
Any help on this would be great... until then, I will keep digging.
