Reporting Services SQL Instance blank

I have looked at all the links and tried the suggestions and I am still having the problem:
SCCM 2012 R2                         SQL 2012 SP1 SSRS installed and configured (separate boxes)
When I try to add the reporting services role, it finds the SCCM database and verifies connectivity to it, the SSRS instance drop down is blank.
Using a domain service accout with local admin rights on both machines and sa rights in SQL.
There is a firewall between the Primary Server and the SQL Server and ports 80, 135, 443, 445, 1433 and the high RPC range.
Does anyone know how it is determining the instance?  I have read it is via WMI but I am not sure if it is a query or executing a method.  I have verified the svc acct has the correct DCOM privs.

  • Sccm 2012 reporting services server instance blank

    Hi guys,
Can anyone provide me tips to install reporting service point on SCCM 2012 server.
P.S: SRS instance configured in SQL server 2008 R2 SP2 and it can accessible (http://<SQLserver>/Reports/) in SCCM 2012 server
    Please help me!
    Thanks,

If you don't have DNS entry for your Report Service Point (SQL server), the instance field can be blank too.
Can you expand on this as I have never heard of this issue before.

  • Uninstalling Reporting Services 2005 instance

    Hi,
I'm trying to uninstall an old instance of SQL 2005 Reporting Services (x86) on a WS2008 vm but for some reason the uninstall crashes.
I am using programs and features to uninstall the SQL 2005 Reporting Services named instance. I get a message saying 'setup is preparing to make the requested configuration changes' and the setup then closes without any warning or error message.
Has anyone else had similar problems and does anyone have any ideas how to remove this instance of RS? If it's any help the corresponding SQL instance has been uninstalled so maybe thats confusing the setup program?
    Many Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi phil,
Both the Installation Wizard and command line setup can be used to remove or modify an existing installation. Refer to How to: Uninstall an Instance of Reporting Services:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143518(v=SQL.90).aspx.
In addition, I think you need to uninstall SQL Server 2005 manually. Follow steps:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909967.
BUG: You cannot repair or uninstall SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services after you uninstall and then reinstall Internet Information Services 6.0:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910544.
    Hope this helps.

  • SCCM 2012 Reporting point server instance blank

I have installed SCCM 2012 With remote SQL database server successfully, at the time of Reporting service point role installation, its verified the SCCm database successfully but SQL server service instance is blank, what would be the reason....
    Below my SCCM architecture:
    1. Created one Database in Remote server SQL server is in failover cluster active passive mode
    2. Configured Reporting services in active mode.
    3. at the time of reporting point role installed failover cluster database name given and its successfully verified with SCCM_123 database.
    4. on the instance name showing blank.
Please help me if anyone facing this type of problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rishi!!
    Regards, Rishi

It is not totally intuitive when installing the Reporting Point role with a cluster.  When installing a Failover Cluster, SSRS can only get put on one node or on its own box, as it uses NLB for scale-out not FoC.  SSRS is also not configured by
default if you use it with a clustered SQL instance, so you have to open SSRS Configuration Tool and make sure the ReportServerDB is created, and that the URLs can be browsed.  Once that is done, then try adding it in CfgMgr:
In CfgMgr, In the Administration workspace, expand Site Configuration, and then click
    Servers and Site System Roles.
Select the node that has SSRS installed on it (not the Failover Cluster virtual computer account).  If SSRS is on its own box, first you have to go to
New site system and add the SSRS box.
Then, on the Home tab, in the Server group, click
Add Site System Role. The Add Site System Roles Wizard opens.  Choose Reporting Point, and after verifying the connection to the CfgMgr DB, the instance name should populate.

  • Reporting Services - Multi instance instalation

    Hi
I instaled SQL Server standard edition named instance ("DEV1") on a machine with a previous default instance of SQL Express and RS.
I also instaled a new  RS instance using this new SQL Server instance using new endpoints, ex:
    http://myserver/reports_DEV1
but I get HTTP 404 Not Found.
The previous default instance on http://myserver/reports is still working fine. it opens
    http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
and I noticed that folder.aspx exists only once in the whole file system. Should I have the rs files duplicated on each instance directory?
What can be wrong with my instalation?
    Thanks,
    DD

    Hi DevDiver,
According to your description, the Report Manager URL for your new Report Server instance can be accessed and return 404 error. However the Report Manager URL for the previous instance works fine. Right?
Based on your information, it indicates the issue in the URL configuration. So please go to the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, check the Web Services URL and Report Manager URL. By default, set IP address All assigned, use port 80. However, the
80 port can be shared with other applications, so in this scenario, it might be occupied by another application. From a command prompt, type the following command to return a list of TCP ports that are being used:
    netstat –a –n -p tcp
Then used an available port (like 8080 port) for URL of the new Report Server instance. Since the previous instance works fine, there might be some other issue with configuration. For yourself testing, you can trace the hop of http to see some detail
information about the issue. Please refer to the article below:

  • Reporting Services SQL Server Express 2008 R2

    Hello,
    Currently we are running:
    10.50.1617.0 RTM
    Standard Edition
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0 (Intel X86)   Apr 22 2011 11:57:00   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 <X86> (Build 3790: Service Pack 2) (Hypervisor)
What is required to be able use the Reporting Services?  Is there a cost associated?  What are our choices?
    Looking forward to your reply,
    Linda

    Hello Linda,
You have a Standard Edition (not Express, as in subject) and here are SSRS = Reporting Service as well as SSIS =Integration Services and SSAS Analysis Services included, see Feature Compare:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993(v=sql.105).ASPX
Just add SSRS as a new feature to your existing installation, if it not already exists and setup configuration, then you can immediately use it.

We have integrated Reporting Services in to SharePoint 2010 configured in Trusted.
    Problem:
on a BI site we have a report that runs just fine when you click on it.  however when you click the dropdown arrow and edit in reportbuilder. It will open report builder 3.0, but not the report you wanted to edit.  when you go to Open the report
from the site we get the error
Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL. "myspsite url" Make sure that the server is running, the URL is correct, and you have permission to use the server.

    Hi
    Damon ,
    Thank you for your posting!
For your issue, please format the URL used to connect Report Server as “http://server/reportserver/”
    (with '/' in the end).

  • Reporting Services Site Role Setup: Instance Blank/Empty

    SCCMserver01
    SQLDBserver01
    Background info:
We have a strict policy that states we cannot load additional software packages on our SQLDB servers. So with that being said I need to have the
SCCM Reporting Services Point reside on a server that is not our SQLDB server. I do have the SSRS SQL components installed on the SQLDB server.
With that being said.......when I go to add the SCCM Reporting Services Point to our SCCMserver01 as described above the I get the "specify reporting services settings" within that menu down where it says "reporting services server instance"
it is blank and all I see is a red exclamation mark. When I hover over it the error is "Unable to locate any configured SRS instances on the server.  Verify SRS is installed, accessible, and correctly configured."
Has anyone else seen this? What am I missing? Thank you.....

So I can install just SSRS on my SCCM server and then point to the DB on my SQL server? Is SSRS a licensed product?
Yes SSRS is a licensed product.
Although technical possible to install SSRS on your CM12 server and point the db to SQL. This would NOT be a recommend solution.
I'm not sure how you policy apply when CM12 itself MUST be full Administrator and SA on your existing SQL servers, And it install SW on SW server too, so...

  • SCCM Report Services Instance missing

    Hi,
Been trying to troubleshoot this for a day and had already done the following:
    1.
    http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/10/10/reporting-services-site-role-setup-instance-blankempty/
    2. Reinstalled reporting services on SQL Database Server
    3.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4479e73e-8a19-4c7e-9418-b36770656b9b/action?threadDisplayName=sccm-2012-reporting-point-server-instance-blank
I'm not sure what I am missing but regardless after restarting countless times and troubleshooting, I still can't get the reporting services setup on our SCCM 2012 server. The database is SQL 2012 SP1. Both are on a different VM instance. I'm getting a blank
value on the Reporting point server instance.
The good part is I can get the website working but getting the reports via web by opening it on the reports services manager on the SQL server. Other than that, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
    Any suggestion?

  • Reporting Services Point, remote SQL issue

I'm trying to install Reporting Services Point on a remote SQL 2008 R2 SP2 server. I select the SQL server under Servers and Site System Roles and it lists the site database server name, database name (should this name be the same as the DB found in Reporting
Services Configuration Manager?), folder name and reporting services server instance. I enter a new account that is a sysadmin on the SQL click verify and get:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).
Ping works both ways, remote connection on this SQL instance are enabled, static ports configured, a rule to allowany is set in the firewall. Should I perhaps be entering the port (this instance uses a non-standard one) in the Add Site System Roles
    Wizard?
If I open up Reporting Services Configuration Manager, the service is started, mode is native, a domain user account is used for the service account, web service URL opens, I even created a new DB. Report Manager URL opens.
SCCM itself uses the same remote SQL instance, so it appears connectivity works fine.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you very much - CypherMike.
    You helped me so much!!!
I installed the DB on another Instance so i had to change the port # and just here i found this info that i need to use comma to define the port.
    Tnx

  • DPM 2010 installation failure (SQL-server Reporting Services Problem)

    Hi everyone,
The last 2 days I have been trying to get DPM 2010 installed on a DC. I know this is not recommended, but for our company with the current setup it's the only way to do it.
I have been reading some Microsoft articles (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399416.aspx) about doing this but I fail to do so.
I have made all of the right service accounts (I guess) and am doing everything in the guide but still get the same error message over and over again:
Setup has detected that the installation of Reporting Services is not correctly configured or no instance of Reporting Services is linked to DPM2010 of SQL Server
I just can't get my head around it. This is the error message when I try to install DPM 2010 using an existing SQL-database which I have configured in the SQL 2008-server sp1 installation.
I have enclosed some screenshots so you could maybe check some things that are not correct? Hopefully we can get this issue resolved, because it's driving me crazy to be honest!
Physical server which is ADC and where I need to install SQL-server and DPM: VMBACKUP
The service account for DPM is: DPMSQLSvcsAcct
Also have another service account: DPMR$VMBACKUP
I have also enclosed the error log located in C:\DPMLogs\

This is the DOM error log:

  • Reporting Services for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0

    Hello,
    We are currently running:
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0 (Intel X86)   Apr 22 2011 11:57:00   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 <X86> (Build 3790: Service Pack 2) (Hypervisor)
We would like to know what is required to configure Reporting Services for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard.  Is their a cost associated?  I need to inform our IT people what is needed.
Looking forward to your reply, Linda

  • Installation Reporting Services Point Role

    I have following configuration
    SCCM 2012 SP1 (Clean installation) |  SQL 2008 SP3 CU4 Named instances | OS: Windows 2008 SP2
SQL Cluster for CAS | Dedicated SQL Server for each primary site  (All my roles are separated on dedicated servers)
For SSRS I've been told that this is not cluster aware so I've told my DBA to install the SSRS instance on SQL Server used on my primary site, all of this is located in same data center.  I did confirm SSRS is working fine, able to access the URL,
db is created and all security setup correctly.
Trying to install the Reporting Point on my CAS.
When I start the installation wizard from the "Configuration Manager console" and select CAS - Reporting Point, I see that the information about the SQL Cluster is populated however my "Reporting Services Server instance" is blank.
I've searched various forums/blogs and all talk about security settings; version for SSRS etc. I did confirm all this is correct.
    I've tried following scenario.
Instead of installing the Reporting Services role on my CAS, I selected the SQL Server that had reporting instance installed, and also has the instance for 1 primary site.  Following the same screens I know have my SQL Information populated and also
my "REporting Services Server Instance" is populated !!!!!!   the installation know continues fine, and when I go to my REport manager website I can see all reports etc..
    But!
Checking the data source, it's now configured for my primary site !!!!  so I can only see reports/data from that primary site.  If I update the datasource to point to my SQL Cluster, I'm able to run reports but every minute it's reverted back as
part of the check done I can see this in the log file srsrp.log.  When I go to my Configuration Manager console, I can only see the reports when I'm connected to my primary site, from the CAS all is blank.
    Question I have is following
    - can you have SQL Cluster configuration for CAS data and separate SSRS instance on different server?  I've got feeling during installation of the reporting point, when it's discovering the SQL Instance for CM, it's looking for some link to determine
the reporting instance, and obviously cannot find this.
    - Is there anything on the SQL Cluster that needs to be configured so that it know this is the SSRS instance to be used (only guessing)
    - in my setup my DBA installed the SSRS part in already existing SQL Instance (used for my primary site), which would explain above behavior, I will ask him to install SSRS on separate instance, but I then have feeling that this will not work, as the
instance will not be populated when I try to install Reporting point.
Any ideas or suggestion to make this setup work

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

  • Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?

Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example
License Topologies and Costs for SQL Server 2014 Self-Service Business Intelligence
With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.
SharePoint EE + SQL Server 2014 EE
    Excel Services
SSRS Add-in (Reporting Services, Power View)
SQL Server DB for SP Content, Configuration and Service Application DB:s
SQL Server 2014 EE - SharePoint + Standalone for BI
    SSRS SharePoint Mode
    SSRS Native Mode
SSAS (Not in SharePoint mode, skipping PowerPivot for now. Would Power View still work?)
SQL Server DB for Data Warehouse
= 1 x SharePoint EE Server Licence, 2 x SQL Server 2014 EE Server Licenses?
    Deployment
Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.
Fallback or even beneficial option to install SSRS in SharePoint mode on the SQL Server instance used for content and configuration?

    Hi Daniel Wikar,
As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

  • SharePoint Reporting Services Integration - System Settings Page Issue

    Hi All,
A client of mine has setup Reporting Services (SQL Server 2012 SP1) integration on a SharePoint 2010 environment and this has been working fine for a while now. This includes viewing SSRS reports and also creating PowerView reports from the SharePoint interface.
The only issue that we have is when we browse to the SQL Reporting Services service application via SharePoint Central Administration and select 'System Settings' we receive an error and can't configure any of the settings located on this page.
Looking at the ULS logs I can see the following error is raised:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.SharedService.UI.ReportingServicesSystemSettings.InitStrings()     at Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.SharedService.UI.ReportingServicesSystemSettings.OnInit(EventArgs
    e)     at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer)     at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)
    43aaadcd-fc67-420e-a30f-2e174f151084
I removed the existing service application and uninstalled the SharePoint Services (using Install-SPRSService). I then reconfigured the RS services and created a new service application but the error is still raised. All other pages under the service application
can be loaded. We also tried setting the reporting services diagnostic logs to verbose but couldn't see any further information.
Has anybody seen this before? I'm thinking that perhaps some of the configuration settings for this page actually carry a null value when it should be configured with something. Does anybody know where these settings are saved?
    Cheers,
    Tom

Just thought I'd provide an update, we ended up resolving this, problem was related to an incorrect ID one one of the fields in ReportingServicesSystemSettings.aspx.
Updating this to the correct ID resolved the issue. Weird thing was that the file was incorrect on more than one server, only had to obviously update it on the CA server though. After this the System Settings page opened without any problems.
