Reporting Services UserToken SID's error

Hi All
I know there is loads on the web about this but none of it is fixing the issue.
We have SCCM 2012 R2 (Not been upgraded from 2012) and SQL Server 2008 R2.
All was working fine till a couple of days again when some uses started getting the UserToken SID's error. Have tried everything but cannot get it working. Check AD membership for the reporting service account, removed and re-added user to refresh permissions
but still the same error.
Anyone any idea's
Thanks

Hi,
Could you please upload a screenshot of this error?
If you login with a SCCM Administrator account, can you run the reports?
Please check the permission for these users failed to run the reports from Report Manager URL.

  • Reporting Services Point status message errors.

My Reporting Services Point seems to work OK -all reports are available and run correctly both through the console and via the website. However, I am seeing the following warning in the SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT status messages every hour:
"The SQL Reporting Services datasource on Reporting point server "Databaseserver.contoso.com" is missing or has been changed outside of Configuration Manager.  It will be rebuilt based on the RSP configuration."
Here's what I think is causing the issue, but I don't know how to solve it.
The reports database is on the same remote SQL server as my site database. Because these site systems were installed automatically through the SCCM installation process, they show up in the Servers and Site Systems Role without an intranet FQDN. However,
when I add the RSP to the database server, it creates a new entry because when manually adding site systems SCCM insists on automatically adding the intranet FQDN. So I now have two separate entries for the same server:
\\DBServer01 - component server, site database server, site system
\\DBServer01.contoso.com - component server, reporting services point, site system
Any thoughts on how to stop these errors?

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up.
In the past when I have seen this, they will automatically clean themselves up after a few days. (aka up to a week later). Have it clean itself up yet?

  • Reporting Services 2008 R2 configuration error: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server

Hi, I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 and on one of our dev boxes I am trying to setup ReportServer using ReportingServices Configuration manager. This is was installed longtime back and during installation they created a service account for reporting services.
When I try to configure the service account I do not get the service account created during the installation in the pull down and if I were to use something different I get this "Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server"
    error.

  • Reporting Services Client-Side Printing

All my BI users should be able to print SSRS directly from their Local PC. Right now they do not have administrative rights on their PCs.  How do I install  the print- client  SSRS files on the client machines. Also, what and where are the
files I need to install in order to enable client-side printing. I am using SSRS 2012 SharePoint integrated mode.

    Check out this article...
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/client-side-printing-silent-deployment-of-rsclientPrint.aspx
The same concept applies no matter which version of SSRS you are dealing with.  You just need to find the CAB file.  For SSRS 2008 R2 it is in:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin

    and
so please help me to solved this issue.

    Hi,
You need to choose to either use Excel services or Excel Web Apps they both have advantages. To suppress opening the file in Excel webApps use the following PowerShell cmdlet, this will resolve the error
    New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting –Extension “XLSX” -Action “view”
    New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting –Extension “XLS” -Action “view”
This will allow Excel services to be used to view the files or your installed Desktop Client used to edit them..
Excel Web App and Excel Services in SharePoint have a lot in common, but they are not the same. Excel Services is available only in the Enterprise edition of SharePoint Server 2013. Excel Web App is available in SharePoint Server 2013 and SharePoint Foundation
2013. Both applications enable you to view workbooks in a browser window, and both enable you to interact with and explore data.
But there are certain differences between Excel Web App and Excel Services in SharePoint. For example, Excel Services supports external data connections, data models, and the ability to interact with items that use data models (such as PivotChart reports,
PivotTable reports and timeline controls). Excel Services provides more business intelligence functionality than Excel Web App, but Excel Services does not enable users to create or edit workbooks in a browser window.
    Reference:
For details about the differences between the Excel Web App and Excel Services, see

  • Reports Service failes with 186 error after Disco4i Admin install.

    OS NT 2000
    DB 8.1.7
    9iAS 1.0.2.1
    Disco Admin 4.1.33e
Everthing was working fine until the install of Disco4i Admin. It would error on the install until I stopped the Reports Service. Post install - The reports service failed to start. NT specific error 186.
I've performed a TNSPING80.EXE myserver & verified the TNSNames.ora configuration in 806, iSuites, and 8.1.7. Everything looks ok.

If you have set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable or registry key to an alternate value, Oracle9iAS Reports Services may fail to start with an error 186 or REP-0186. In such a case, you can start Oracle9iAS Reports Services from an MS-DOS command prompt as follows:
    prompt> setenv TNS_ADMIN <IAS_HOME>/6iserver/network/admin
    prompt> <IAS_HOME>/6iserver/reports60_server start
replacing <IAS_HOME> with the directory where you installed Oracle9i Application Server. This will force Oracle9iAS Reports Services to use the tnsnames.ora file at <IAS_HOME>/6iserver/network/admin.
    Hope this will help

  • Reports Service Fails with 186 error after Disocverer4i Admin Install

    9iAS 1.0.2.1
Everything was working fine until the install of Disco4i Admin. I've performed a TNSPING80.EXE myserver & verified the TNSNames.ora configuration. Everything looks ok.

Verify the entry in the tnsnames.ora for the Reports Server. The string
    should look something like this:
    Rep60,Rep60.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<serverdnsname>)(PORT=1949))
Here is a cut from Doc ID 122038.1 on Metalink:
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    ====================
After installing IAS Enterprise Edition, you attempt to start the Reports
Server Service (see below) and get the error:
REP-0186 - Daemon failed to listen to port.
    For Windows NT:
    Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Services-->Start Oracle Reports Server.
    Get REP-186 error.
    For UNIX:
    Run the following Script:
    $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i/reports60_server start.
    SOLUTION DESCRIPTION:
    =====================
    WINDOWS NT 4.0 Server:
The primary cause for this error is that the Reports Server Service cannot
find a valid entry in the tnsnames.ora file. When the MTS starts, it tries
to read the entry in the $ORACLE_HOME\net80\admin\tnsnames.ora file. There
may be multiple files called tnsnames.ora on the machine. The following hint
may help in setting the default location for this file on the Windows NT
    platform:
    1. Click Start-->Run and type in REGEDIT; press enter; click OK.
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE folder.
    3. With this folder open, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New-->
    String.
    4. Enter "TNS_ADMIN" (w/o the quotes) for the new string.
    5. Double-click on the new string, and enter the <drive>:\<path> to where your
centralized tnsnames.ora file is stored for string's value. This setting to
the registry will define a common TNS_ADMIN directory, allowing for a
    central file to be managed.
    6. Verify the entry in the tnsnames.ora for the Reports Server. The string
    should look something like this:
    Rep60,Rep60.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<serverdnsname>)(PORT=1949))
Where <serverdnsname> is the name of the DNS name of the server
(the server's IP address may also be used instead. "World"
is the name of the default domain in the sqlnet.ora file.
    7. Navigate to Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Services, find the Oracle
Reports Server [<RepServerName>] and start the service.
    a) If the Service still fails to start, ensure that there is a printer
(local or network) installed, and in the Control Panel-->Services, click
the Oracle Reports Server [<RepServerName>], and click the Startup
    button.
    b) Under the "Log on As" section, select "This Account", then click the
ellipsis (...) button. In the dialogue box that comes up, select a user
that has access to the system's printer, and type in the user's password,
(do this even if the asterisks (*) appear), and click OK. Legacy
versions required a printer driver be installed on the Server in order
to format document output, even when creating cached documents for the
    web.
    c) Restart the Reports Server Service.
    UNIX:
The following examples assume that IAS is installed in:
    /u01/app/oracle/product/ias
and the $ORACLE_HOME is defined as the same.
    1. Edit the $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i/reports60_server script file, noting the
    following (example) settings:
    csh:
    setenv TNS_ADMIN $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    bsh/ksh:
    export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    2. Define a printer per NOTE:74872.1 and set the PRINTER environment to match:
    csh:
    setenv PRINTER <queuename>
    bsh/ksh:
    export PRINTER=<queuename>
    3. Verify the entry in the tnsnames.ora for the Reports Server. The string
    should look something like this:
    Rep60,Rep60.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<serverdnsname>)(PORT=1949))
Where <serverdnsname> is the name of the DNS name of the server
(the server's IP address may also be used instead). "World" is
the name of default domain in the sqlnet.ora file.
    4. Now start the $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i/reports60_server script file.
    EXPLANATION:
    ============
The IAS installation creates a TN S_ADMIN in the $ORACLE_HOME/developer6i
directory, but the Reports Server is not able to find it, due to the defaults
    setup by the installer.

    Hello,
We are getting errors under the Site Status for the Distribution Point and Reporting services point. Was running fine and have not really made any changes but all of a sudden we have these critical errors.
The report server service is not running on Reporting Service Point server "XXXXXXXXXXX"; start the service to enable reporting.
We have stopped and restarted the SQL 2012 reporting service point with no errors. What else should we look at for this error? And are these related?

    Hi Venkat,
According to your description, you come across an error when starting Reporting Services.
In your scenario, I would like to know if you have installed other SQL Server instance on the same machine before. Please check the SKU of installed Reporting Services in Reporting Service logs. Please refer to this article:
How to: Detect Version Information (Reporting Services).
The configuration error generally is caused by that the rsreportserver.config file has been modified unexpectedly or some settings are misconfigured. Please check the configuration file and compare it to other SSRS configuration file, make sure all settings
is correct. Please refer to this article:

Install the sharepoint reporting services add-in to the exact same drive where you installed it before using the MSSQL installation file, now uninstall the add-in and the reporting service feature from the control panel. This will remove the corrupted
files completely and now do a fresh installation

  • Reporting services instance not able to connect from SSMS

    Hi All,,
I have installed SQL SERVER 2012 on Windows 8.1. I configured report server in native mode.
      * Reporting services is in started state
      * SQl server service is in started state
      * Sql serevr agent is in started state
      * SQL browser is in started state
When i tried to connect Report server instance using SSMS i got the below error.
    TITLE: Connect to Server
    Cannot connect to .
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Unable to connect to the server at . The specified URL might not be valid or there might be a problem with the report server version or configuration. Specify a different URL, or contact your server administrator to verify that the report server runs SQL Server
2008 or later. Additionally, if you are trying to connect to a SharePoint-integrated report server, verify that SharePoint is installed on the server and that the report server uses SharePoint integrated mode. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)

When i connect using http://localhost/reportserver I am getting below error
The permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.
    Though i am the administrator
And when i connect using below URL http://localhost/reports
I get Unable to connect to the remote server
Please suggest your input on the problem

    Hi Khushi N,
According to your description, you are administrator, when you tried to connect reporting services from SSMS, the error message occurred. When you tried to access report manager with the URL:
http://localhost/reportserver, you were prompted that the permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.
The Reporting Services error rsAccessedDenied occurs when a user does not have permission to perform an action. To troubleshooting this issue, please make sure that you have sufficient permission and the report server name is correct. You can use the reportserver
URL, e.g. HTTP ://<servername>/ReportServer, to log on the reporting service in SSMS.
In addition, by default, we could not access all of the report server properties available in SQL Server Management Studio unless we start Management Studio with administrative privileges. To configure Reporting Services role properties and role assignments
so you do not need to start Management Studio with elevated permissions each time, please refer to the following document:
From the Start menu, click All Programs, click SQL Server 2012, right-click Management Studio, and then click Run as administrator.
Connect to your local Reporting Services server.
In the Security node, click System Roles.
Right-click System Administrator and then click Properties.
In the System Role Properties page, select View report server properties. Select any other properties you want associated with members of the system administrators role.
    Click OK.
    Close Management Studio
The issue may be caused by the UAC or Internet Explorer security setting, please try to follow this steps:
    1. Open the Internet options of the IE and add the report server URL into trusted site in the Security tab.
    2. Run the IE as administrator.
For more information about Configuring a Native Mode Report Server for Local Administration, please refer to the following document:

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • [Forum FAQ] The Reporting Server cannot be reinstalled on a same SQL Server Reporting Service instance

Symptom: Sometimes, when you want to reinstall the Reporting Server Role for Operation Manager 2012,
but you may encounter an issue that the Reporting Server Role cannot be reinstalled after you successfully uninstall it. When you check the System Center Operation Manager installation log, you can find the following error as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1: Reporting Server Role cannot be reinstalled
It seems that the SQL Server Reporting Service has not been configured properly. When you open Reporting Services Configuration Manager to check the settings, the settings seem fine though.
Even you recreate Reporting Service Database, the error remains.
After reviewing the OpsMgrSetupWizard.log, we get the following errors when wizard try to connect to SQL Server Reporting Instance (Figure 2).
    [07:24:05]:    Error:  :CheckHttpAddressResponse failed: Threw Exception.Type: System.Net.WebException, Exception Error Code: 0x80131509, Exception.Message:
The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
    [07:24:05]:    Error:  :StackTrace:   at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Setup.ReportingComponent.CheckHttpResponseFromSRSUrl(String
    httpSite)
    Figure 2: Error Log -1
It indicates the Reporting Service encounters an internal error. The Website cannot handle the request. So you may check the Reporting Service log which is located in C:\Users\Administrator.SCOM2012\AppData\Local\SCOM\LOGS
and the following errors may be found (Figure 3).
    library!ReportServer_0-18!1448!03/30/2014-02:53:23:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException:
Unable to load assembly Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security, Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error.  ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    File name: 'Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security'
    Figure 3: Error Log -2
Reason: After the Reporting Server is installed on a SSRS instance, the Reporting Server of SCOM
needs to modify the web.config and rsreportserver.config  file to add its own assembly to make the Reporting Server work. But it does not change it back when Reporting Server is uninstalled. So the assembly cannot be loaded and the SSRS cannot respond
    our requests.
Resolution:  When the Reporting Server is installed, the old web.config and rsreportsserver.config
files will be backed up to web.config1 and rsreportsserver.config1. So you just need to change the files’ name back, then try to install Reporting Server of SCOM again. Everything would go smoothly.

    Hi AakashGhare,
According to your error message, SQL Server 2008 databases are version 655. SQL Server 2008 R2 databases are 661. When you are trying to attach an 2008 R2 database (v. 661) to an 2008 instance and this is not supported. As other post, once the database has
been upgraded to an 2008 R2 version, it cannot be downgraded. You'll have to either upgrade your 2008 SP2 instance to R2, or you have to copy out the data in that database into an 2008 database (such as using the data migration wizard).
In addition, if you want to use a Windows Batch file code and command to automatically login to SQL Server, detach database and attach a new one database, there is a similar details about batch code for attaching database to a new database, you can refer
    to this article.

  • Report Server create new database error

    Hello everybody
I have MSSQL 2012 Standard Edition SP2 istalled on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I had installed Reporting Services on that server (thru install wizard add new feature).
Reporting Services installed with no errors, there is SQL Server Reporting Services service in SQL Server configuration Manager and it is running. When I launch Reporting Services Configuration Manager it saw the reporting services name and instance name,
but when I try to define the new database there is such error:
Could not connect to server: The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception.
The Reporting Services and Database Engine are on same server. I have the administrator permission both on Windows and SQL server instance
    Please help
    Thank you

    Hi HeyLe,
Based on my research, the issue may be related to user access permission. You can refer to the following method to troubleshooting the issue:
Open C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG folder | right click on the machine.config file | Properties | Security | make sure your domain account has FULL CONTROL permission on this file.
If above steps still do not work, please backup your machine.config file to somewhere else and replace with the attached one from my Windows Server 2008 environment.
Alternatively, app.config file also may cause the same issue.
There is a similar issue, you can refer to it.
