Hi all,
Can any one tell me how to create Reporting Variable in BI. What is the use of Variables in reporting. Also how to create Restricted Key Figure.

Why BW Query variable default value put in Crystal report variable for BO InfoView to open crystal report.
I using Analyzer to open bw query,variables had default value ,but crystal report can't had variable default value ,and can't search variable value.

'How to..use reporting variables in BPS' syntax issue

Hi,
I am implementing the white paper 'How to...use reporting variables in BW-BPS' and I am getting a syntax error in the include YBW_BPS_VAR_READ. The error indicates 'Statement is not accessible' for my line:
SELECT SINGLE * FROM ybw_bps_var_map
ybw_bps_var_map being my transparent table as described in the white paper.
I have never seen such a syntax error, has anyone had the same issue? My code is the one in the white paper.

Hi David,
I have the coding up and running. I have not seen this error before and don't know how to resolve it. If you cut&paste it from the PDF, then maybe some special characters got pasted into the ABAP editor. Try to delete the line and type it in manually.

How to create a conditional report variable, which displays the conditional

Hi Experts,
Could you please guide me how to build a conditional report variable
For ex:
I have the data for ATM and POS in the table. I will only get the data of ATMS because of the filters, I still want to display the POS in the report and the values for the POS will be 0.
Actual Output:
Description    Vaule
ATM                100
Desired Output
Description    Vaule
POS                 0
ATM                100

Hi Gaurav,
I have a table which has columns and data as follows
Year               Description          Trans.Amount                Trans.Count
2009               ATM                     1000                               50
2010               ATM                     5000                               200
2010               POS                     1500                               100
If I build a report and fetch the data for year 2010, report will display ATM and POS transaction amount and count.
Whereas, for 2009 there are no POS transaction, report will display only ATM transactions. But user needs the POS also to be displayed in the report with 0's for trans.amount and Trans.count.
Could you please guide me how to achieve this, if it is possible

I'd like to have the most recent loaddate in the title, that works fine now.
However, i'm struggling with the format of the variable, maybe you have a tip how to change that.
This is what i've done:
1. Created repository initialization block "get most recent loaddate". This refreshes every day. The query is basicly a select on my loadtable to get the max date from the loadtable.
2. Then i created a dynamic repository variable "get most recent loaddate" which retrieves from my initialization block.
When i set default to '31-12-2007' (just for checking), i creates TIMESTAMP '2007-12-31 00:00:00'.
3. So, when i use the variable in the title, i get all this text. I'd like to just see the date instead.
Do you have a suggestion how i can set the datatype to date from the variable?

Report Variable F4 help performance issue

Hi,
I have a BI report on DSO >> Multiprovider.
When i choose F4 Variable help it takes around 2-3 minutes to display the data for selection.
Currently XXXX chars is with -- Only Posted Values for Navigation. I have tried the below options but could not see any improvement in variable f4 help performance.
-- Only Values in Infoprovider
-- Values In Master Data table
Could someone please suggest if you have faced the similar issue.

Hello Ashok,
Ideally you should never built a report based on a DSO, this is because it stores data at a line item level. The way the filter works is that looks at all records (SIDs) lying in the range of selection in the info provider and then displays the filter pane after it populates the records.
There can only be 1 check in this case, is to check if your DB statistics are up-to-date. The DB statistics decide if an index is to be used or not. So check for the DSO active table and all related SID tables in transaction DB20. Check the date of creation of the statistics, if it's too much in the past, then the DB does not effectively use the indices and hence it takes time.
You can use program RSANAORA to recompute the statistics.

Web reporting - variable selection should be display as key and description

hi experts,
Can anybody tell me the solution for my issue. My isssue is , in the web reporting, i have variable company code, i am selecting the company code thru search help. the values for company code is displaying with key.
the new requirement should be displayed with key and description.
I have checked in the bex, the properties of company code has maintained as key. when i run the report when cas selet as key and descritption. bex is not a probelm.
only the problew with webreports, can anybody give some inptus on my issue.
Any help is appreciated. waiting for your response.

Web report - Variable values while switching between views.

Hi Gurus,
We have a query which has a few variables that are getting populated with default values during query execution[customer exits].
We have added this query to the web.Now there is a date variable which gets populated with the current date value by default.Suppose the users don't vant to run the report for the current date, they are able to change the date in the variable window and execute. But once the report is run, and we try to choose a different vieew for the report, the report automatically gets refreshed with the selected view, but for the default current date value (because of the customer exit).Shouldn't the selected view be getting refreshed with the date values that the user had entered while executing the report?
Also when navigating between the different views, shouldn't a variable window pop up? Is there any setting to have the variable window pop up when navigating between the different views of a web report?
Would appreciate a quick response.

we need to go to Query properties -> interaction tab-> remove reuse variables to populate the variable screen everytime or "Save and reuse variable values" to supress variable window
or
Problem could be due to any personalisation.try this:
One the query is executed, click on the button which says change variable values.
In the variable pop-up screen which comes up click on the personalization button
In the new screen which comes up click on reset personalization button
Enter new variable values and execute the query.

BI Report Variable Screen not working with I.E-7

Hi Gurus,
I recently installed Internet Explorer 7. Iam not able to execute BI Web reports. When I try to drilldown on the selection screen variables of the report. It gives me the below error. Is anyone encountering the same issue;
"This application does not support this browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Infopath.1)"

...Internet Explorer 7.0 is supported for NetWeaver as of SPS10...
perhaps just use IE 6.0...

Need help for report Variable to restrict the key figure value...

Now i have data in the cube as follows...

when i execute the report it shd ask the prompts with Date interval as in the below...
HR INTW date
LM INTW DATE
TEL INTW DATE
if i dont give any interval in the variable prompt it should display all the recors as follows
Reuisition     HR Count     LM Count     TEL Count
a1               1                  1               1
a2               1                  1                     1
a3               1                   1             1
If i give LM INTW DATE interval as    01.01.2010 to 31.02.2010
then it should display all the other counts as in the output_1 , but for LM count for a3 it should show 0.

a3               1                 0                  1
that means wherever i restrict the data depending on the variable that only that interval key figure value shd be in the report..
for this scenario, which variable i need to use... and how i need to restict the KFig value in the report...
Right now i am getting like this but it is restricting the records,,, where it should not restrict the records...in the report..
Please guide me for the same...
If any concerns about the scenario please let me know...

could you tell me the var. creation in detail and with which reference object i need to create ...
whether i need to take LM_DATE / 0DATE while creating variable...
and i kept this variables it in filter section, based on the LM_DATE Object.
i have tried both.. y'day when i take 0DATE it giving me some results...
But at the same time it is restricting the records..
i think it could be a problem with var.. properties?
need more inputs pls.

How can i configure the date variable at entry point on the report.

Define form at KE94. You can use standard variables of KE3E or may define your own for Posting date or Entry date.

Sub-report variable on main report

HI Forum,
I have a report with a sub-report.
I am trying to have the sub-report to get an item "price" from a salesorder on a given year in this case 2010... i get that with a shared variable... the sub-report prints the correct value.... except that i am using that shared variable to calculate the GP margin on the main report.
On the main report the value is the one from the last salesorder in the table.
Question:
How can i get the report to give me the correct "price", the price that printed on the sub-report?
this is my formula:
Sub-report
whileprintingrecords;
shared numbervar price;
price:=itemprice
Main report
whileprintingrecords:
shared numbervar price;
price
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

it depends on a few things.
the value from the subreport is the price per sales order, you sub report should be grouped by sales order.
in order to return the value it should be placed below the sub report.
where is your subreport placed?

Report variable problem

Hi experts,
we have installed few reports using BC. some reports have variables attached to them like vendor selection option. whenever we click these selection options some of them throw an exception i.e Internal server error, Nullpointerexception, though there is data in vendor dimension. Any Idea on how to fix it up. Thanks
