Reports 6i and pdf generation

Is there a specific setting in IE 5.5 or Acrobat Reader. I am running reports using Reports 6i. When I am selecting pdf as the output, it doesn't work in some machines but work in others. I get messages like
" There is no viewer available for the type of object you are trying to open. Do you want to download a viewer for this type of object?" or "An error occured while trying to open the document". I do have Acrobat Reader in all the PCs I am testing in. This is really frustrating and I could not find a way to solve it. Anyone had the same problem??? Please let the forum know.
Thanks

I've had the same symptom. Try uninstalling Adobe and reinstalling the latest version. This seems to reset the required setup items. Also, I have experienced trouble when using a reports parameter form-- the parameter form comes up fine but then the report doesn't open properly. Again, reinstalling the latest version of Adobe cures the problem. I have talked to some people who switched to Netscape to cure this. Be careful with Netscape 6 though, it seems quite slow.

    Thanks for the reply Sebastian,
I created APS with only CVOM service and changed the parameter Xmx6g, but the result is the same. But there are some strange thing, since com at the time of shipment and PDF generation dedicated to the APS, the value of the metric "Maximum Memory (MB)" was 5.461Mg that corresponds to the parameter Xmx6g, but the metric "Total Memory (MB)" value was 1792Mg and "Free Memory (MB)" the 1.052Mg value. Is it possible that the APS does not use all available memory is allocated to it? At the time of generating the server had memory available to grow.

  • Reports 6i and html generation

I am rendering report output in html via the web from reports server 6i on the NT platform. When viewing the report in a browser there is a bold letter "t" in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I also get duplicate ")" and "-" characters in various places. This does not happen if I render the report in PDF format or if the report is run locally in Reports Designer. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • 9i Report Builder and PDF format differ

Have created a report in 9i's Report builder. the formatting in the layout mode is accurate. When the report is created and accessed via the end user, the number list (currency) is no longer right justified. The PDF output pushes the numbers to the right as additional places occur. A value of $0.00 is right aligned correctly, but as values populate, they shift to the right (e.g. $100.00 is slightly to the right and $100,000.00 is even slightly further to the right.) Is there a setting or fix to keep the formatting accurate?

Nope. The 10g report builder works fine. The issue is only with the 9i report builder.

  • Interactive form and pdf generation

    Hi all,
I'm developping a Web Dynpro application in which the user can generate pdf's with the data in the context. in one case the user can decide to view the pdf first, make some additions and then generate it. This is where the interactiveForm comes in. and so far it works. In the other case the user can decide to generate the pdf without viewing. can I generate a pdf with the same layout as my interactiveForm without view it first? I have been looking around but haven't found a solution for this. Any help is welcome. If you can point me to a tutorial or example it will be much appriciated.
    Thank you all in advance.

  • Report service and pdf

    Dear friends,
I have a problem in 9iAS. I use Report service to run reports in IE. There are some chinese characters in the reports. While i set the target format to HTML, the output is OK, While the format is PDF, the chinese chartacters are malformed.
I search related documents in OTN, but found nothing. Who can give me some advices?
    Thanks.

    Hi Joi
The HTML output is working for you because your Browser is capable of displaying Chinese characters automatically (using document's encoding).
However, PDF requires that you specify Multibyte characters (such as Chinese) in a different manner. You need to use either PDF Multibyte font aliasing feature or PDF Font Subsetting feature if you want to display Chinese characters in PDF.
    See:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/whitepapers/pdfenh.htm
for more information on how to use this feature.

  • JS and PDF generation

Lets say I want to share a pdf but I want whoever is visioning it to have JS enabled, otherwise i don't want to display the pdf. Can I share a 'blank' pdf with only JS code in it that will generate a new pdf with all the text I want in it? Will this just provide a blank pdf if JS is disabled?
    thank you for your help

It's possible to generate a PDF using JavaScript (not in Reader, though),
but it's very limited and cumbersome.
A better option is to use an "envelope" to show a blank PDF that can only be
opened when JavaScript is enabled. I know some people have been developing
such a tool, perhaps they could shed more light on this technique.

  • REST and PDF Generation

    Hi All,

The developing_applications.pdf file has a section on Developing a REST application and also mentions that the sample code can be found and downloaded from

I have look and looked and I cannot seem to find any references to a REST tutorial or sample code.
Does anyone have the REST sample that is mentioned in this guide?

  • PDF generation with FOP throws NPE

    Hi,
    Stack trace
    at oracle.xml.jaxp.JXTransformer.reportXSLException(JXTransformer.java:769)
    at oracle.xml.jaxp.JXTransformer.transform(JXTransformer.java:342)
I'm using standard Java 1.4 API calls to create a PDF document from a DOM with Apache FOP 0.20.5.
The servlet is deployed to Oracle 10g Application Server 9.0.4.0.0. With Tomcat 4.1.30 the same code executes without exceptions
Because I have to port our web application to Oracle for a new customer it is important for me to get this fixed soon.
    Thank you
    Eckard

Light at the end of the tunnel: It seems to work when FO and PDF generation are separated. Until now the DOM was piped into FOP who internally created the FO from SAX events and then seems to parse it again to create PDF.
I separated the two steps: There is no problem in FO generation, but due to a namespace problem subsequent parsing fails
("org.apache.fop.apps.FOPException: null:2:10 Root element is missing the namespace declaration: http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format")
Now the correct exception comes up. Whether FOP SAX event listener is buggy or XML parser's error handling has a problem, I don't know
    Thank you anyway

  • PDF generation on APEX applications Reports

    Hi all
PDF generation on APEX applications is Facilitated in Interactive Reports in the Down load Option,
When we Choose this pdf Down load Option, this is not Working.
    why this is not Working?
But this Down load Facility in Interactive Reports is Working fine with Excel Format
Do we need to Install & configure FOP/Cocoon or BI Publisher to Enable PDF Format DOWNLOAD
    OR
any Other Work around Availble for this
    please Suggest

To generate PDF file from APEX reports, you either have to install & configure Bi Publisher or FOP/Cocoon..
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html
There are alternatives (jasper reports, pl/pdf), but they are also items you need to install and configure..

  • Report fonts mapping and PDF output problem(Easten European languages)

    Hi experts,
    I have such a problem.
If i run oracle reports(10g) via reports builder all layouts looks fine.
When i run them in PDF format via application server - report text and numbers strech out off frames, also textfields and text itself becomes bigger in size.
Aplication server runs over windows OS.
    Uifont.ali file looks:
    [ PDF:Subset ]
    Arial..Italic.Bold.. = "Arialbi.ttf"
    Arial...Bold.. = "Arialbd.ttf"
    Arial..Italic... = "Ariali.ttf"
    Arial..Plain... = "Arial.ttf"
    Arial..... = "Arial.ttf"
    "Times New Roman"...Bold.. = "TIMESBD.TTF"
    "Times New Roman"..Italic... = "TIMESI.TTF"
    "Times New Roman"..... = "TIMES.TTF"
I think the problem is with Lithuanian(baltic) letters in the text. If i do not map fonts in uifont.ali file i get PDF report without the
lithuanian alphabet letters, but in this case it looks fine(The same as in report builder)
After fonts mapping, i get my lithuanian alphabet letters, but text and numbers strech out off frames, changes the size and etc.
I put the example of my report uotput:
    http://pirmas.50webs.com/index.html
What else can i do to solve this problem?
    Thanks for any suggestions

For the html output issue , there is a patch available on top of 9021. Please contact your Oracle support representative to get a 90211 patch nd apply the one-off patch of Bug 2472932.
For PDF, please ensure that you are setting the NLS_LANG in the server config file using the dynamic environment switch feature introduced in 90 patch 1 (9021). Please see the patch 1 release notes for the details

  • Tall report in both HTML and PDF

    Hi,
I have a report in 10.1.2.0.2 with three logical parts; a header (logo, column titles), a body (actual data) and footer (column sums, some texts). At the moment I'm just using the main section (not header/trailer) but I'm willing to change.
Depending on the parameters the report will give 1-20 pages (if I was to print them) of output.
I would like to offer both HTML and PDF output but I'm having some issues.
If I set the height of the main section to 25 centimeters/10 inches and run the reports with parameters that produce 2 pages of output, I will get two pages i the PDF perfectly. The HTML will then get a seam (empty row) after 25cm/10In and then continue. The problem is that the second part of data is in a separate html table, making the columns not aligned to the first part.
    So, PDF OK, HTML ugly.
If I set the height of the main section to 250 centimeters/100 inches and run the report again the HTML is fine. One long table and therefore consistent columns.
Now the PDF consists of only one page. It looks fine but after the last row I can scroll down much more as the PDF "page" is really tall now.
    So, PDF ugly, HTML OK.
Any suggestions for acheiving a nice result in both PDF and HTML?
    Kind regards
    Tomas Albinsson
    Stockholm, Sweden

    Many thanks Denis, worked perfectly!
Now the customer has decided that they want the header on each page...
So now I don't need to use your solution but it's good to know how to solve it.
Fortunately (?) I've got a new problem now.
If the output spans two pages I now get one head, the first part of data, head again, rest of data and foot. Fine.
The problem is that the columns of head and data on page two are not aligned with the ones on page one.
So head and data always align, but only withing the page. Page two might be much wider than page one.
This is is HTML output and the frames are set to horizontally fixed.
Seems to be the footer. Didn't help putting it in a horizontally fixed frame of it's own.
    Suggestions?
    Kind regards
    Tomas

  • Report Title and Text Area issue when exported to pdf using Viewer

    Hi there,
We are using OracleBI Discoverer Version 10.1.2.55.26
We have reports that displays Report title containing the following
    - Report Title
    - Runt Date and Time
    - Page No
And text area which displays 'Last Page'
Following properties are set at the worksheet level using page setup
Report Title --> 'Print on every Page'
Text Area --> 'Print on last page'
The report when exported to PDF using Discoverer plus works fine and displays report title and text area as defeined.
But when we try to export the same report to pdf from Discoverer viewer, it displays
    - Report title on first page only.
    - text area on all pages
All our users accesses report using discoverer viewer so we cannot open discoverer plus to them.
Is there a solution which will enable us to export the report in pdf using discoverer viewer and displays the same output as discoverer plus.
Please let me know... If you have any questions then please feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance for your help...

but when opened on other os x machines some text is colored differently than it should be
Well, if typographic objects are colour managed, the colour appearance is dependent on the source ICC profile that describes the colourants in the typographic objects and the destination ICC profile that describes the colours the display is able to form and the RBC colourant combinations that will form those colours.
In general, typographic objects should have special treatment, since the expectation is not that typographic objects should be colour managed, but that typographic objects should simple be set to the maximum density of dark. On a display, that is R=0 G=0 B=0 and on a seperations device (a lithographic press) that is C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100.
If for some reason typographic objects are colour managed, and if the ICC profiles for the displays are off by half a mile or more in relation to the actual state of the display system, then the colours will not be the same. On the other hand, if those displays are calibrated and characterized, then the colourants will be converted to form the same colours on the displays.

  • Problem with PDF generation from Interactive Report

    Greetings,
I created an interactive report and chose CSV and PDF download options. I am able to create CSV but when I try to download a PDF it says that that acrobat reader cannot open the created pdf file. I am not sure what I should do to make it work. Please help.

    Hey there,
That happened to me when I had an & sign in the page title name. If you have some weird symbols in the page title, try changing them. Then it will work.
    PS
Make sure in the title name and page name there are no weird symbols.
