Reports 9i and Graphics Wizard questions - Upgrade from 6i

Hello,
I am trying to convert my 6i reports to 9i and I have a lot of questions. First, it is my understanding that if we want the reports in the 9i format I will have to recreate all of my graphs. Is this right? Second, when I run the graphics wizard with a report that has multiple queries, it is not retreiving from the query selected in the wizard. Also, with the new graphics wizard can you reuse graphs? I currently have 5 reports that point to the same 2 ogd files. Will I now have to go in and build the same graph 6 times? Finally, if you could point me to some good documentation, I would appreciate it. I have around 30 reports with graphs on them, so if anyone has any suggestions that will make this easier, please let me know.
Thanks,
Laura

Laura,
First, You can run the 6i reports with OGD in reports 9i, provided you have your Oracle 6i home is in system path
and the regsitry variable ORACLE_GRAPHICS6I_HOME is set to pint your 6i oracle home
Now, if you wan to open these 6i report with OGD and modify the report in 9i builder, then the OGDs are loast when saving this reports from 9i
buikder, so you would need to recreate the graphs using the graph wizard
Thanks

i have a mac and am thinking about upgrading from snowlepard to lion , is it a good idea and hard to adapt to

This is my "About This Mac" ... it shows I have Intel i7 CPU.  If you are running SL, you at least have Intel, but would need at least Core2Duo an 2 GB (most people suggest 4 GB) RAM.
If you want to run Lion, remember that the discussions in this forum from last summer when Lion first came out (and since) were highly charged at times.  Certain features that vanished or were added caused great heartache for some.  Others love Lion, though.  And some live with the changes waiting for any fixes they would desire.
Any PPC (PowerPC) applications you depend upon will not work under Lion.  Use this page to see what applications will not run:  http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
    AND
Recall that you can clone your SL to an external disk to keep it safe.  Then you can "experiment with" the new OSX (Lion or ML) until you know it works for you while still having your old SL safe in case you need it.
    Good luck.

iMac running 10.7.5 and have 2 question marks from old PPC apps, which I cannot locate any links to remove from the system?  Any suggestions please?

Hello, if those Question marks are in the Dock, it means OSX can't find them either.
Right click on the Q mark & choose Remove from Dock, might be Roght click or click, then Options>Remove from dock on later OSX versions.
Sometimes you can just drag it of the Dock, or CMD +drag it off.

I have an iPad 2 and is it worth upgrading from iOS 5.1 to 6.0 And should I wait for further stable updates?  As I have there are app compatibility and security issues on ios 6.

Most users haven't had problems with iOS 6, however, some have. I'm still using iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad 2. There is a beta version iOS 6.1 being tested. Don't know when it will be released. When it is released, I'll update.

  • Questions on Report Builder and Graphics Builder

    Hi there:
I'm currently using Report/Graphics builder V 6.0.8.11.3 NT version to create RDF and OGD files.
I was wondering with the following confusions:
    1) Is the RDF/OGD file that I create under NT plat form portable to Sun Unix?? (ie. would Report Server for Sun understand this NT RDF/OGD file?)
    2) Is/will there a Sun solaris version of Report/Graphic Builder?? And would RDF/OGD file be compatible for both NT and Sun plat form??
    Thank you very much.
    Mark

The answer to both your questions is yes. the rdf and ogd are portable to the solaris version of reports and graphics which you can download from http://technet.oracle.com/products/reports/ on the software tab.

  • Patches and pre-task to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3

I have a few questions regarding to pre-required patches and pre-tasks in order to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3.
Currently, the system is on 12.1.1 and pre-required patch, 9039089 which is for R12.AD.B.delta.3 code level.
But, when I checked the document, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Readme [ID 1080973.1]...
    Q1.
    contents deleted.
However, the document 761570.1 is about the necessary steps of upgrade from 11i to 12.1.3.
Is this necessary/applicable still for my case as well?
    Q2.
    content deleted.
However, R12.1.1 already comes with 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 for the application server.
Is it needed to have these AS10g patches still in this case?
    Q3.
In short, what patches/steps are needed when I upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3 after all...? Followings are the ones I identified.
    9239089
    9239090
    9239095
    9817770
    9966055
So, is it sufficient to apply 9239089 for R12.AD.B.delta.3 code level, and continue with 9239090 (12.1.3 pack patch)?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Please follow note 1080973.1 and perform all patching on the forms, web and database tiers. There are a number of patches to apply to meet the requirements to upgrade.
Please follow R12.1 Oracle Financials Critical Patches note 954704.1 for post install critical patches on top of 12.1.3.
You will also need to follow support note HRMS (HR Global) Legislative Data Patch 145837.1 if implemented.
If you use Patch Wizard then you will need to apply patch 10629956. Please review New Required Patches for Patch Wizard, Patch Manager, and Oracle Application Change Management Pack note 1267768.1.
For best results and all steps recommended by support, please download the Maintenance Wizard tool. This tool will automate most of the upgrade steps and guide you step by step, only applying patches that are required for your installation.

    Hi T
I don't think this is possible with 4i.
Have you considered upgrading to 10g R2?

    Regards,

There are two methods you could use to perform the upgrade but first, back up your computer. As X42.. suggests, a bootable clone is a very good idea - use SuperDuper! or CarbonCopyCloner to make an exact duplicate of your computer's hard drive. This can be used as a backup and can also be used to boot into Snow Leopard should you need to do so.
To upgrade to Lion (1) download Lion and let it upgrade your computer. Your data and old programs will remain on the computer untouched. During the upgrade process Lion may find some plug-ins or programs that are definitely incompatible and put them into a folder labeled Incompatible Programs. (2) restart your computer from the clone backup you made and download Lion. Now use the installer to erase the computer's hard drive and install Lion on the computer's drive. Then use Setup Manager to migrate your data and programs.
In either case, as X42.. said, you may have some incompatible software which needs to be upgraded and some may no longer be supported. That's one of the advantages of having the Snow Leopard bootable external drive. I found that the simple upgrade (1) worked for nearly every computer I upgraded. I had one computer that required the erase and install (2) method.

  • SSO and Portal down after upgrade from AS 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.3

SSO and Portal is down after upgrade from AS 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.3. All others are running fine. Any similiar experience and solution?

cn=XXX information is missing for the SSO Server (orasso) when going to http://servername:7777/pls/orasso/orasso.home. Is that causing the problem? If so, how can I resolve it?

  • I have a big problem with Lion and PGP. After upgrading from snow leopard to lion I cannot access my PGP drive which was generated under snow leopard. PGP does not start but gives a notion that lion cannot work with my PGP version. Solution?

After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion I cannot access a PGP drive which was generated under snow leopard. PGP does not start. When I try to start I just receive a message that Lion cannot work with PGP. How can I now access important and confifential informatio which I have stored in PGP (snow leopard). Do I have to move back to snow leopard. If so, how can I do this?

    If you have this product,

you have to go back to Snow Leopard.
To re-install SL, back up your home directory, format and re-install.

  • Photoshop CS6 issue with shortcuts and my keyboard after upgrade from CS5

I recently upgraded from CS5 Extended to CS6 Extended on my Mac (Mavericks), but installed it in English instead of German this time. I transferred most of my presets just fine, but none of the keyboard shortcuts were working. All I got was an unequal sign for all shortcuts and even manually changing them didn't get them to work. I found a few discussions about this issue and ended up adding a German keyboard, as I am always on the Romaji setting of my Kotoeri (Japanese) keyboard. That seemed to solve the issue, but only if I change to the German keyboard before opening Photoshop. Shortcuts don't work in CS5 anymore either unless I do. Sometimes the shortcuts also stop working a while after I change back to the Kotoeri keyboard.
Now I would like to know if there is any way to get around this issue. Isn't there a way to get my shortcuts working again without constantly having to change keyboards? I much prefer the Kotoeri one since the icon for the German keyboard in my menu bar looks extremely obnoxious, in my opinion. It's mostly a cosmetic thing to me, but I would love to get everything back to the way it was before.
I'd much appreciate any advice or help.

I am having a similar problem. Just upgraded to Apple Yosemite and all none of my keyboard shortcuts are working in a clean install of Photoshop CS6. Every menu item has some form of the ≠ sign. I've trashed the .plist file, rebuilt permissions, etc. Even basic keyboard commands, like Command-N for NEW or Command-Q for QUIT do not work. In fact, many don't show up in the menu at all. I don't have this issue in InDesign CS6 or Illustrator CS6. Every once in awhile, maybe 1 time out of 20, menus and keyboard shortcuts work properly, but I can't find any pattern.

  • Will I loose all my files and photos when I upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow leopard

I have purchased Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the Mac store and I am ready to install it. Will I loose all my files and photos when I install it ?  I am upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6.3 Snow leopard.

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.

  • Reports 6i and Web Wizard

    Hi All,
I am developing reports for web using Report 6i. When I use web wizard to create html output (option - Generate HTML stylesheet output now). Everything fine except there is gap (10-12 blank lines) between pages.
I need your help in getting rid of these lines. What I need is continuous report.
    Any help appreciated,
    TIA,
    Jitendra.

    Hi,
I've you found a nice way to do a continuous report? If so, it would be nice to post it here.
The way I've found is far from being nice, but, well, it works.
    I have three report
    - the master
    - the head report
    - the body report
    1:
The master report is an empty report. The only thing it does is produce some HTML code for a frameset (declared in the 'Before Form Value' of the report property palette). This frameset is built from the two other reports, the first being the head report (its corresponding frame being not resizable, with no scroll bar) and the second being the body report. That way, I have HTML code looking like :
    <html>
    <frameset rows="1*,19*">
    <FRAME name="A" frameborder=0 noresize scrolling=no SRC="url of the head report">
    <FRAME name="B" frameborder=0 SRC="url of the body report">
    </FRAMESET>
    </HTML>
For the "sub-reports"' URL, I had trouble placing the desformat and destype parameter because Reports see &desformat as a lexical reference to the value of the desformat for the report being generated. So, bored, I finally used the 'run' shortcut of the cgicmd.dat file (search for that in the Reports manuals). I then ended up with URL like :
    http://computer.server.com/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?run+param+param+param+param
where params are the usual rwcgi60 parameters needed to produce a report.
    2:
The head report contains only the headers for the columns. There's no repeating frame or whatever. The text boilerplate objects of the headers are on the top of the report, the rest being empty.
    3:
The body report has been modified so the body section of the report (the rectangle with thick black borders) fills completely the height of the report. Inside it, I've created a repeating frame, its height being a divider of the height of the report. What I mean is : my report is 11" high, so I've created a repeating frame 0.5" high. That way, there would be no space between pages.
    And that's about it.
Well, I'm not sure this is a very viable solution, and I admit I don't really like this kind of hacking in a professionnal reports structure. But if beauty is not your primary concern, maybe this thing should help.
... but I haven't found yet out how to place the report footer... ;-)
Anyway, I hope all this can inspire you a little bit,
    Frederic :-)

  • XL Reporter - Santax error in selection after upgrading from PL26 to PL29

    Hello all there,
again a question concerning my old friend XLR!
    We are running SAPB0 2005A SP01 PL29.
After an update of XLR PL26 (Version 6.80.01.26 / 6.80.367) to XLR PL29
(Version 6.80.01.26 / 6.80.388) in some reports the following syntax
error came up: "Definition parsing failed; syntax error near #NULL".
This is the selection in which the syntax error is reported:
    BPA(CardType = "C" And scrIncl_0 = "N" Or
    CardType = "C" And scrIncl_0 = #NULL )
    ARDT( Code = "ARCreditMemo","Invoice" )
In XLR PL26 the report runs without any problems! The following as
additional information on the meaning of this selection:
We select all clients (CardType = "C") where the UDF scrIncl_0 is
either assigned the value "N" or a value is not yet assigned (#NULL).
Again I stress: It works as expectedin XLR PL26 !!
I had checked all SAP notes concerning XLR PL29 or #NULL before I
posted this question but had found nothing pointing into this direction!
    Best Regards
    Frank Romeni

    Hi Daan,
you were right - it had to do with the XLR naming of my UDF.
Is there any reason for XLR to change UDF names from e.g. name to name_0 or to "name_0" (with apostrophes) ?
In my last reply I wrote "the UDF are all available with there old names. I can make this sure, since other selections in the same report definition use the UDF - without the #NULL construct - are not rejected."
But the other selections were not rejected with syntax errors, since XLR put apostrophes round the wrong names. In the mentioned selection the UDF name was not put in apostrophes and therefore the selection was rejected with a syntax error. Unfortunately I realised the wrong names in the not rejected selection only after I checked the results (all empty) when I executed the report.
