ReportViewerBean refreshReport behavior running report with prompt

I've been blocked trying to test this behavior: whether or not the automatic refresh (on a timer) of a report with prompt will bring up the Refresh Report Data" window, asking about current or new prompt values, requiring manual intervention on each refresh.  So, I take it to the community!  When a report with prompt running from the server or within the client is manually refreshed, the Refresh Report Data window comes up and must be "answered" before the actual refresh occurs.  We need to have 15 second automatic refresh of the report with prompts.
Does the ReportViewerBean::refreshReport() behave in the same way (bringing up the Refresh Report Data window and blocking data refresh), or does it simply result in refreshing the query data in the report?
Thanks!

Hi,
What you have to do is to purge the data for your deski reports then refresh them and republish them and then proceed.
The other thing which may cause this is your variables.
Are you using some variables, like date, year etc?
If yes then recheck them. Sometimes these variable gets corrupted.

    Hello,
    Do you use the Oracle Forms builtin WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ?
    If yes , take a look to : "IE7 windows opened and closed immediatly"
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Internet_Email/Web_Browsers/Internet_Explorer/Q_23304982.html
    You can test the solution suggested :
    We have found the setting that we needed, under the Internet Options
    Security tab, if you select the internet zone, and click the custom level
    button, then scroll down to the Downloads section, the first option is
    Automatic prompting for file downloads, setting this to enable keeps IE 7
    from interfering with this sort of download.

  • Reports with prompting stop working when moved from Crystal10 to crystal 11

    Issue:
    We are having trouble with Crystal Reports XI. It appears that the Crystal 10 runtime included the ability to process reports that used prompting. If we run the same report with the Crystal XI runtime, it fails.
    I can send a sample of the report.

    Our Configuration:
    We use Merge Modules that install Crystal Reports through the browser via a CAB file that we created. It runs a setup executable

    We have JDK 1.6 installed.  The License Merge Module is not related to
    this issue.
    The files under \Program Files\Common Files\Business
    Objects\3.0\crystalreportviewers11\prompting  are not being installed.
    If we copy files, into this folder structure the reports work.
    One of the Business Object's Merge Modules should install the files
    there rather than just an empty folder structure.
    I got was able to figure out how to enter a customer support message.
    They said that they could not support us because we were not on CRXIR2
    (Crystal Reports 11 Release 2).
    I found a download for CRXIR2SP4 (same thing service pack 4).
    I installed it the Merge Module names changed to include a "_5"
    Was:
    CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm
    CrystalReports11_RDC_Runtime.msm
    CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (This is contrived by us from one of
    your hot fixes)
    Now:
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Reportengine.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Runtime.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_License.msm (should have been included)
    *CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (not needed anymore)
    I will try to put a installer together with these.  If this work there
    will be some complexity around uninstalling the old one and installing
    the new one.

  • Run report with prev day automatically

    I have a report with passed parameters. actually i only need this reprt to run daily at 4am (we have the scheduler) but process the previous day.
    I dont need a from to really, just the one day. how do i prefill this in a param for date which is a number field here.

    The only way you can pre-fill the prompt with 'previous day' is by writing a SQL query (that returns the last day) and adding to the report using the Add Command option and creating dynamic prompt that points to the field in this command object.
    Make sure you don't join this command object with the existing tables/queries in the report.

  • Internet Explorer Script Error when running report with user-entered params

    We are using Crystal Reports Version 11.0.0.1282.  We have multiple copies each installed on a separate computer.  We have a relatively simple report with a prompt for 2 values (parameters) to be selected or input by the users.  The desktop is either Windows XP SP3 or Windows Server 2003 SP2  On all the XP/SP3 computers, this report works as expected.  On the exception computer, the Windows Server2003 Desktop, we see the prompting screen with place holders for graphics instead of the buttons.  When we attempt to select a value for the parameter by keying in the value and clicking on the OK link (no button), we see message box titled "Internet Explorer Script Error" with text: An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line: xxx (varies depending on param chosen)
    char 1
    error: Object expected
    url: file:///c:/doc...../temp/1/prompting1.html

    Searhing around the forum and using Google, I found a suggestion to be copying the "prompting" folder and dll from a known working system - tried this, it didn't work.
    So. I still need a solution. Any other suggestions??

Then I get prompted for my ms sql login info, which I enter.  Then I see the "Enter Values" window with my data entry fields; but I don't see the nice formatting and buttons which I see when I run this from the other computers; I see only the placeholders.  I select or enter data and click on the "OK" link.  Then the message box pops up.  The message box pops up when I click on any of the links or on the "x" in the upper right.  Mesage box is explicit - Intenet Explorer Script Error, etc., as I described in my original post.

  • Error when previewing reports with prompts

    "Prompting failed with the following error message: 'Unexpected error.'.
      Error source: Prompt.dll Error code: 0x80043800"
    ... This error occurs when I try to preview a report with parameters being prompted. The parameter fields are just simple text boxes. Error does not occur when parameters are set to null.
    I'm running Crystal Reports XI Release 2 Version 11.5.11.1470 on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. Has anyone seen this error? If so how can I resolve it
    Regards,
    Scott

    Hi,
    Try this,
    Title: Error: "List of Values failure"prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D"
    Symptom
    In Crystal Reports, reports using List of Values (LOV) based on a Business View are refreshed and after 5 minutes an error message appears:
    Prompting failed with the following error message: "List of Values failure: fail to get values. [ Cause of error: CORBA_SystemException ].
    Error source: prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D".
    Cause
    This error message appears because there is a firewall between Crystal Reports and BusinessObjects Enterprise XI that is preventing the LOV from bringing back the data.
    Resolution
    Turn off or disable the firewall.
    Alternately, specify a CORBA port using an updated version of CRLOV.DLL that lets you choose one port for CORBA to use. Obtain the appropriate file  by doing the following:
    Download the file update from the Downloads area of our web site.
    Open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\java\crconfig.xml in a text editor.
    In the <DataDriverCommon> section add <BOEOrbPort>n</BOEOrbPort> where n is the number of the desired inbound port to use for CORBA.
    Enable that port on the firewall to accept inbound traffic (along with the other ones Crystal Reports uses).
    The LOV reports run correctly.
    Thanks,
    Vinay.

    Hi onizga,
    According to your description that you are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2, after migration you got some error like “The Uri string is too long” which only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions, right?
    Usually, the issue can be caused when you try to pass some parameters that cause the URL length to exceed 65,520 characters for a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services (SSRS 2012), you cannot render the report, and you may receive the following error
    message:
    The value of parameter 'param' is not valid. (rsInvalidParameter).Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long.
    This is an known issue and already have the hotfix SQL Server 2012 Service Pack1 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) as you know, you can try to reinstall this hotfix to fixed this issue:

  • Problem running report with BI Publisher and Web Service

    Hello,
    I actually try to run a Bi Publisher report via the Web Service.
    I use the following documents:
    - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e10416/bip_webservice_101331.htm
    - "How to integrate Oracle BI Publisher via Web Services in Oracke Forms"
    Everything works fine. But when I try to copy it on local computer the file is 0 length. I use the "getReportBytes" method.
    Here is the code I tried with:
    String userName = “Administrator”;
    String passWord = “Administrator”;
    System.out.println(”calling ” + myPort.getEndpoint());
    System.out.println(myPort.validateLogin(userName,passWord));

    ReportResponse repRes = new ReportResponse();
    repReq.setAttributeFormat(”pdf”);
    repReq.setAttributeLocale(”en-US”);
    repReq.setAttributeTemplate(”World Sales”);
    repReq.setReportAbsolutePath(”/Sales Manager/World Sales/World Sales.xdo”);
    repRes = myPort.runReport(repReq,userName,passWord);
    System.out.println(repRes.getReportContentType());
    byte[] binaryBytes = repRes.getReportBytes();
    OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(”D:
    out.pdf”);
    out.write(binaryBytes);
    out.close();
    System.out.println(”Success for Run Report”);
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I assume that you use 10.1.3.4. If not, my hint is not relevant for you ....
    There's a new parameter in the web service API to set the Chunk-Size. Unfortunaltely is the default value not so, that the behaviour is like in older releases (no chunk-size ... the whole document at once). If you set the chunk size to -1, you should get your document. So try to add
    repRequest.setSizeOfDataChunkDownload(-1);

  • Run Report with Pass Number and Varchar Lexical Parameter values

    Dear Sir/Madam
    Due to an urgent change required to a report I would most appreciate it if you can please advise me if it is possible to get this report working by either passing in multiple lexical parameters or one signle lexical parameter when calling the SRW.RUN_REPORT command with the following methods:
    Firstly: When calling report with a run_no and spr_cd passed in through one lexical:
    cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
    CP_L_PARAM=RUN_NO=TO_NUMBER(28) AND SPR_CD=SUPP1
    Both with a TO_NUMBER and without, whereby I attempt to do a SUBSTR within the query of the called report to derive the RUN_NO Oracle Reports fails to accept the SUBSTR.
    Secondly: I am now trying to call the with passing two lexical parameters into the report as follows:
    cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
    CP_L_RUN_NO=||TO_CHAR(lv_run_no)|| CP_L_SPR_CD=||lv_spr_cd;
    NOTE: The above is an output of the actual command line and not what is passed into the command line, thus the quotes are missing. Please also note that the report is running fine with the only a hard coded RUN_NO value PASSED without the SPR_CD.
    Unfortunately this is also causing issues as the RUN_NO is a number and as you know you can only pass in strings.
    Your urgent help is required on this matter please as our client is expecting a solution this afternoon.
    Hope to hear form you soon.
    Kind regards

    Dont Worry I've worked it out...

  • Running Reports with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT versus RUN_REPORT_OBJECT

    Where I work I work alone on developing and delivering Oracle applications. I've found a way of running reports in 10g over the web using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT, I've embedded my own security in the BEFORE PARAMETER FORM trigger of the reports.
    I don't have time to trawl through thousands of pages of documentation and I need to know whether there is a fundamental drawback of using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT over RUN_REPORT_OBJECT? I've got everything working OK in my test environment, but it's not clear reading the Oracle documentation whether there is a major drawback with this method, in particular I'm interested in any performance/load issues. I'm slightly worried because most people seem to use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT (which has all sorts of issues, such as parameter form incompatibility etc), I've found that WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT is much easier to implement as it avoid the parameter form issue, displaying the user credentials in the source html and being able to type in any jobid in a url to receive other peoples reports.
    I've read as much as I can including the Forms and Reports integration document and the Usability Matrix and can't find anything obvious. I would be very grateful for any comments.

    Good call .... I included some of the code from your linked document to create a forms library from which to run reports. This uses the inate ability of reports to generate HTML parameter forms at runtime. Very handy. Most of our reports that we upgaded recently took little or no effort.

  • Running report with web.show_document

    We are using web.show_document to run reports which have parameter forms. destype=CACHE , desformat=pdf . We are also using the javabean which hides the login credentials as a cookie.
    The output displays OK then the user wants to email it, so they use the mail button on the adobe reader toolbar.
    They are asked whether they want to link or copy even though link does not work.
    If they choose copy, the result is an email with an attachment called 'servlet' with no extension.
    The recipient of the email has no idea what a servlet is, and more importantly they do not know how to open the file.
    Does anyone know how to get around these problems ?

    Ino
    Your method is fine if run_report_object is used. However, in order to display a parameter form, the report must be run with web.show_document. If web.show document is used twice, first to run the report and then to display it, the second does not wait for the first to finish, even if a synchronize is put between them.
    So, as soon as the parameter form appears, the second show_document appears in front of it saying it cannot find the file. Dismissing that allows access to the parameter form, the report runs and gives a success message but no output.

  • Report with Prompt on Home Page

    I have created a report with column prompt. I have also included this report in 'My Home Page custom report'. But when i access 'My Home Page' i dont see the Prompt, i only see the report with all columns & data. Have i skipped some step to include prompt on home page ? Thx for help

    Hi,
    When we display a report on the homepage, the Prompt is not shown instead a link will shown in place of the report stating 'Click here to Generated Analysis'.
    Even though you have the prompt on the report it will not show on the homepage, as homepage reports are usually detailed report.
    You can add filter instead of using a prompt on the report.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Auto run report with default parameters in Viewer

    Hi,
    Can any one tell me if it's possible to automatically run reports in Disco Viewer with default parameter values?
    For example, I have a worksheet with a parameter like 'Term like :Term Code' which has a default value of '%'.
    When I open the sheet in Viewer I'm presented with the Confirmation screen with default parameter values displayed and then click OK to run report. Is there a way to skip the confirmation screen and just run the sheet with default values as soon as it's opened?
    I tried using the 'Run Query Automatically' option in Query Governor preference but this results in Viewer opening the Edit Parameters screen instead of the confirmation screen.
    What I'd ideally like to do is bypass both the Confirmation and Edit Parameters screen to automatically run the worksheet with default parameters as soon as it's selected.
    Any thoughts appreciated,
    Ien Hien

    Hi,
    Option 1
    If the user is clicking on a URL for the report you could code the parameters directly into the URL thus, they are passed on startup. Section 13.5.2 Example 2 of the below URL provides an example:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/urlstart.htm#i1014363
    Option 2 (Not Exactly what your looking for)
    This would still require a user to click something but, if your passing a wildcard it should probably be considered,
    If the parameter might be a wild card your better off making it an Optional Parameter which is now possible in Discoverer Plus 10.1.2. Thus, instead of passing an expensive % sign the condition will simply be ignored.
    Hopefully this helps....
    Jeff
