Hi,
Is the latest release of Designer (release 4) certified to install the repository onto a 9i database?

  • Deployment to runtime repository in different database hangs

    Hi All
I am facing an issue while deploying to a runtime repository in different database.
I have created a simple mapping, taking data from one schema available in database where OWB is installed, to schema available in different database.I am changing the configuration to the control center available on target database.
source module is associated with control center available on design repository and target module is associated with control center available on runtime repository.
In control center manager, the message displayed at toolbar is "compiling deployment object"..after sometime OWB hangs and nothing happens.
What could be possible reason for that?
    Thanks in advance
    Avanish

I got the problem with OWB 10.1.0.4.0 and I had to install the path 10.1.0.5.0 for make it works !

  • 11gR2 repository in 11gR2 database

    Hi,
is it possible to install a 11gR2 repository in a 10gR2 database?
I'm somewhat clueless about this since the repository software is not available standalone (i.e. not in the context of the 11gR2 database).
But there should be a way following the statement in the [ OTN download area for standalone client |http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/warehouse/downloads/software/index.html] :
To install OWB 11.2 and host an OWB repository on Oracle Database 10 g Release 2 or Oracle Database 11 g Release 1.
    regards
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas
Yes you can do this, you will need the 11gR2 standalone software, go to the OWB OTN page here and click on Downloads, the OWB standalone software is here.

    Good Morning.
I had the same problem and I had the same IE 6, the problem was the translation between the IE6 from http and https, to solve it you just need to open your url typing
https:url:port, do no forget to put the s after the http, with this my problem was solved.
    best regards.

  • Check if metadata repository is seed database or not

    Hi
    I have 10gAS R2 installed.
i want to check if the metadata repository is seed database or not.
    how can i do this.
    Vikram

    Hi
I got the soln for this.
open EM and go to the infrastructure in the farm.
here u can find it out with the installation type which is displayed. It will be only infrastructure if u are not using a seed database , it will be infrastructure + MR if u r using a seed database.
This can also be found by running RDA and checking install actions.

  • Runtime Repository on local database server only

This is a why question, as I have read the installation and configuration guides and don't see this answer. Please forgive me if I've overlooked it.
I am installing OWB in a client/server fashion; the database server resides on a UNIX platform, the client on Windows. I ran the OWB Repository Assistant from my windows desktop, and the repository owner and its objects were created. However, I see in the manual that the OWB Runtime Assistant must run on the same machine where the database resides. I did so, started up the Runtime Assistant on UNIX and created the Runtime Repository into a new user schema, and then a Runtime Access user. All went well.
It looks to me as if both of these wizards create database objects. Why can the Repository Assistant be executed from the desktop environment, but the Runtime Assistant needs to be executed where the database lives, in my case, UNIX. It seems that only database objects are created, it shouldn't matter where the wizard is run from, as long as a database connection can be made.
I feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle, can anyone enlighten me. Perhaps a daemon or service is started that I need to know about?

Perhaps a daemon or service is started that I need to know about? That's it! There are some java-services running outside the database. That's e.g. the reason why you can't deploy to an OS/390 system, because these services are not migrated for this JVM yet.
    Bye

  • Work repository on different database configuration

    Hello there,
I am trying to set my work repository to be a schema on differing database to the source dataserver.
Currently when I edit the source data server and try to set the work repository I only have the option to select schemas from the source.
I have my work repository on a different database.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards,
    CM

I have come to a conclusion that there has been a confusion over the terminologies. What you call "Work Repository" is actually a "Work Schema" in your specific case.
Then the answer is that Work Schema needs to be on the same data server as your Source Schema.
Below is a reasoning behind that:
This schema consists of temporary/intermediate work tables that are generated by ODI knowledge modules.
These work tables are similar to tables in source schema in terms of data and structure
Data is moved, copied and compared between source schema and work schema, it makes more sense to store them on the same data server to avoid any network/communication overhead.
Hence ODI warrants that the source schema and the work schema exist on the same data server.
P.S. "Work Repository" is the metadata repository that holds the data model definitions, ODI code, packages, interfaces, etc.
It works in tandem with "Master Repository"
    Hope this helps you.
If you feel that your question has been answered, please mark the question as answered and all the answers that you have received as helpful or correct.

  • Need help Installing OID Repository on existing database server using RepCA

I have an oracle database server running 10g (10.2.0.4) and I want to install metadata repository on it. I downloaded the Application Server Metadata Repository Creation Assistant 10.1.2.0.1 (standard edition).
I find that there are no batch files in the download, just setup.exe. When I run that I am asked for an ORA_HOME - when I provide the home where the database is installed I get the message that the home already has the database and the software cannot be installed on it.
How do I add the repository to an existing instance of oracle database server? Also, is the version I downloaded the right version #
    Thanks

    Hi sameer khan,
first let me ask, are you talking about Netweaver04s (WAS 7.00), in this case my answer can give you some hints.
Note 883948 gives information of the installation of an additional usage tye (like BI JAVA)
You have more than one possibility to install the usage type BI JAVA. The most common installation types are:
    1. BI installation and a separate BI JAVA installation with 2 <SID>
    2. BI JAVA Addin Installation in an existing NW04s
I recommend to use option 1:
In case you install a separate BI-JAVA instance, you need a separate <SID> for your J2EE environment. In this case it is not possible to use the same <SID>. This installation can be done on the same or a separate server. Furthermore, you can use a separate database or install the J2EE instance in the same database (--> MCOD). I recommend to use a separate database. Note: In this installation option, Sapinst normally installs a separate user store. With the usage type BI JAVA it makes (in most cases) sense, to use the user store of the BI system, where it belongs to. If you want to do so, "Revise" the user store option before you start the installation and and choose the production client of the BI system.
If you like to use an Addin Installation, another <SID> is not possible. I would only recommend this kind of installation in test environments.
It doesn't matter, which kind you choose, after installation, you have to do the steps for "Setting up bex Web", see Note 917950. This is sometimes a little bit tricky, with Note 937697 there is a Support Tool, which can help.
    Good luck with your installation
    Kind Regards
    Marc

  • How to create an OWB Repository in a database

By default a database will have a repository installed into it. One has to create a workspace using Repository assistant within the repository.
    database> repository> workspace
    Question:
    1. How can I create a new repository [either in same or a new database]?
    2. Can one database have multiple repositories or is it limited to only 1?
    Thanks!

    >
Also, on 10g, how do I go about creating a repository.
Please note I'm aware of using Repository assistant to:
    create workspaces on 11g and
create repository owners on 10g [we create owners and not workspaces on 10g]
In both the cases where do I define a specific repository, where do I give the name of repository etc.
In 10g ,OWB Owner is nothing but the schema which holds OWB repository
If you are creating a new OWB Owner that means it is a new repository.
If you are creating/registering a new OWB user when you can choose an existing OWB repository/owner to which the new user will be associated with.
    Thanks,

  • OAS 10g metadata repository creation assistant & database version issue

    Hi,
I have to install Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 on a server which already has an Oracle database 11g running on it and I dont want to install another database due to the load factor. I am not sure if I could use that database
(version 11g) for the metadata repository. I know that we can use an existing database for the creation of metadata repository using the metadata creation assistant but I am a bit worried about the version of the database which is 11g whereas the application server and the metadata creation assistant both are 10.1.2.x.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Omer

MRCA 10.1.2.0.2 cannot be used to install a repository in an 11g database. If you want to use MRCA 10.1.2.0.2 with an 11g database, you will need to install a 10g database first, create the metadata repository and then upgrade the database to 11g. Not applicable in your environment as you already have a 11g database.

    Hi,
Could you tell me the process to follow for the following case:The Audit and Repository Oracle databsses are located on the A serveur. For some raisons, the databases have to migrate on a B serveur, wich  IP and name different.Could you give me all the steps to do and in the good order ?Thank you.

    Karine,
You will have to down your BO services.  Then on the BO server modify the ODBC connection from pointing from its current target (the BO server presumably), to the new server (hopefully account names and passwords have not changed, but if they have changed, then you'll have to take care of that detail as well).  Once the ODBC connection is corrected, then you should be able to bring up the BO services again.

  • Problems loading repository in existing database.

So I have been banging my head against the wall for at least two days now trying to get this portal implementation to work. Right now I’m stuck trying to load a metadata repository into a current database. The database version is 9.2.0.6. Basically I was running through the pre-requirements and I needed to reload my LDAP package. So I ran the catldap.sql. Now when I try to run the Oracle Metadata Repository Assistant I can’t make it past the fourth screen. It gives me an error saying :
“The catalog objects stored in this database do not have the same version as the database software. Please review the post-installation steps of the RDBMS patchset and make sure that you have run all required SQL scripts.”
If anyone has a clue to what the heck it means please… help me from splitting my head open. I have reran the script just to make sure it didn’t mess up twice. I have also searching through the forums, metalink, google, and some DBA friends.

    ok, here goes:
    1. make sure that "which java" gives you some resulting symbolic link to a 1.4.2 JRE
    2. set some init parameters:
    alter system set aq_tm_processes=1 scope=both;
    alter system set job_queue_processes=15 scope=both;
    alter system set remote_login_passwordfile='exclusive' scope=both;
    3. install ldap:
    @/oracle/product/9.2/rdbms/admin/catldap.sql
    Check (outcome should be 0)
    select dbms_ldap_utl.check_interface_version('2') from dual;
    4. Start repCa:
    ./runRepca -OH $ORACLE_HOME
    5. Use $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql to compile all objects (you should have 0 invalid objects)

  • Informatica Repository and Target database

I have a scenario in which the repository database is DB1 and target database is DB2. How is that possible? I mean isnt the target database stored in the repository? Is it still alright?

    Hi,
Informatica repository tables generally referred as OPB tables and which has all the data related to your mappings and by using these tables informatica will refer the mappings.

    Hi,
we have a problem in installing OWB Design Repository 10gR1 on 10gR2 Database. The Repository assistant hangs with message "INS0003 The User should have DBA privileges to complete the installation". I'm connected as SYS....

Her is a workaround I get from Oracle, may it works. Till this time I can't test it, try it on your own risk.

Using the 050621 shiphome release of 10gR2 on Linux we have noticed the INTERACTIONEXECUTE stored procedure is defined with definer rights - it should be invoker rights.
Using the stored procedure to create an AW will create the AW in the SYS schema.
The only workaround is to redefine the stored procedure in the SYS schema with invoker rights.
CREATE OR REPLACE function interactionexecute(input CLOB) return varchar2 AUTHID CURRENT_USER
    as language java name 'oracle.AWAction.Interaction.Execute(oracle.sql.CLOB)
    return java.lang.String';
