Repost Disappearing Information with LINK

Disappearing information….?
Help….I am self taught and using MX. I’ve used
the program for several years without problems, but now, I’m
stumped. I have several webpage that use framesets and the same
menu bar is located in the left frame of several frameset pages
I’ve created.
Recently, while creating a new frameset, I attempted to
insert the menu bar into the left frame….like always, but the
page in the root folder identified as “menu_bar” was
blank
I thought I could get a copy of the page off the server, but
that page appears to be blank too.
All the pages load correctly on the internet…even after
refreshing a dozen times, the menu bar appears…I just
can’t see it, or make it appear in the development mode.
I’m lost…I totally recreated the menu page,
complete with rollovers and saved the new page twice and now those
pages are invisible too.
Any ideas on this weird situation?

When you say it appears blank, you mean when you open the
page in DMX and
look at design view, you just see a blank page? If you look
at code view,
do you see code?
Also, which DMX are you using? Is it 6.0 or 6.1?

I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!

Links should not create any problems in Keynote. If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
Try this repair for Keynote, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

empty the trash: Finder > Empty Trash

Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click repair disc permissions

when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Indesign CS6 on MACs with OS 10.8 are having problems with links

Indesign CS6 on MACs with 10.8 are having problems with links. All links to other files have to be updated when opening a file although definitely nothing has changed to the linked files.
We can rule out our company's networking and the system hosting the files (HELIOS software on RedHat Linux VM). This happens with newly created Indesign files and with old ones. E.g. we create a file on Tuesday, save it and open it again on the exact same MAC on Wednesday and all links to other fiels (.indd, .png, .bmp, etc. nothing uncommon) have to be updated as they all show the yellow triangle + black exclamation mark symbol next to them. Has anybody else experienced this, What can we do? We have tried absolutley everything and updated all software from MAC OS to CS6 itself but nothing seems to help on the long run.

We actually noticed that there also seems to be something wrong with the timestamps:
If we open the infos via the MAC finder to a file (.psd e.g.) which is linked in one of our indesign files, it states a certain date of creation.
If we then switch to the Indesign file we just opened in which we had to update all links and open the infos to exactly the same file we looked at in the finder, a different date of creation is stated. So there also seems to be a mistake here (hope it's clear what I mean).
We are ruling out our network as the error cannot be "re-enacted". We have created numerous test files in Indesign (simple white page containing one link to a .psd file which is also used in one of the supposedly defective files) and have opened them on various MACs with various OS versions over the past days/weeks but unfortunately the files open without any notifications or errors.
Just as a background: a few months ago, the problem seemed to occur between MACs with differing OS, 10.6 - 10.8 at first. A file which was created on a 10.6 MAC could not be opened without updating all links on a 10.8 MAC. That is why we updated everything to 10.8. The error did not occur for about 2-3 weeks but then reoccured again.?
Have you heard anything similar?

Metadata or hotspot with link, when i clik on 3D part, it is possible?

is there a way to put a link in metadata or hotspot? with SAPlink? hotspot are valid only for 2d? not 3D? if i use the note it's ok, cgm ok...
in VEAuthor it is possible to add a metadata or hotspot with link to another file on web or local system? when i clik on the part, can i see the link in metadata windows or information tab, in viewer and mobile?

uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. I use firefox for so many, many years thta I deserve this kind of support .. thnx Robert

Mac InDesign CS6 crashes when adding files with links to Windows network into book

Our Mac network is unstable, so I tested linking InDesign CS6 files (on my Mac's hard drive) to .jpg files on our company's very stable Windows network rather to the same .jpg files on our Mac network. I tested with 4 simple, small InDesign files. When these 4 files were linked to images on a storage drive on our Mac network, I could drag all 4 files into a book and export the book to PDF. But when linked to the same images on the Windows network, while each file would open fine with no errors, and while I could generate a PDF from each individual file, the moment I dragged the 4 files into a book, InDesign crashed, generating pages of information in the crash report form.
I have no problem making 500 page manuals on my hard drive, comprised of about 50 InDesign files, with links to THOUSANDS of image files on a storage drive on our Mac network. Is there some trick to making a book with files linked to images on a Windows network? If there is no simple answer, who could I call to set us up so this will work?
I'm using InDesign CS6 for Mac, totally updated, version 8.0.1.

Table with Linktoaction cell editor VS ALV with Link to action cell editor

i am replacing table UI with ALV, i am encountering series of problems one of them is below.
when i click on linktoaction cell in table i can see wdevent has context_element which is element reference, which is being used in action handler to perform some logic...
however when i replace with alv where i displayed one column with link to action cells using CL_SALV_WD_UIE_LINK_TO_ACTION class, however when i click on any particular cell i only get information related to that cell like column name, attribute name, value and position.
however as i said i need context element reference to work with which is not coming with alv.
please suggest.

yes, that is right, you have to get the context element from the node based on the Index you get.

FINDER disappears, along with desktop icons, when I plug in external drive

Hello, All:
FINDER disappears, along with desktop icons, when I plug in an external memory card from my Nikon camera. This also happens regardless of which USB port I plug it in to. It didn't happen when I installed Leopard two weeks ago, but happens all the time now.
Interestingly, the desktop icons (hard drives and files) DO show up when I open any software program and try to open up a file. The hard drives and files show up in the Open File windows.

THANK YOU! I've been having the same problem, and the solution you linked to worked perfectly for me. Somehow, my computer's sharing name had been deleted. Once I put that back in the file sharing preference I was able to reconnect my external drive without all Hades breaking loose.
This problem came on the heels of an aborted attempt to use a new Time Capsule (not ready for prime time) which I had to drive 50 miles to take back and replace with a new WD My Book -and I was afraid I was going to have to repeat the trip to take it back as well.

Backup (Passport) with link fails at Contact/Calendar

as the topic says, the Blackberry Link backup function disconnects my device while trying to copy the "Device Settings and Local Contacts/Calendar Data".
It tells me immediately (when hit's Device Settings....) "Device disconnected - check if your device is connected correctly".
I've got 2 Accounts syncing calendar with my BBPP:
GMail and Outlook.com (EAS/Exchange)
I've read some stuff about "Social Network calendar entrys" which can occur errors.
What can i do at this point?

Okay, if possible I would like to review some logs.

Now perform a software reset on the phone by holding the top button down and then choosing Restart from the options presented.
When the phone has completely rebooted pleas reproduce the error with Link. Now, while the phone is still connected, choose Preferences and then Creating Log Files. Here please make sure that Gather extra log information is checked off.
On the handheld please open the help application, then swipe down from the top and select create report. When it is finished do not submit the file, instead please include it with the logs generate from Link. On the device they are stored within the internal memory under Documents/Logs/

Help with linked lists and searching

Hi guys I'm very new to java. I'm having a problem with linked lists. the program's driver needs to create game objects, store them, be able to search the linked list etc. etc. I've read the API but I am really having trouble understanding it.
First problem is that when I make a new game object through the menu when running the program, and then print the entire schedule all the objects print out the same as the latest game object created
Second problem is searching it. I just really have no idea.

I don't understand your first problem.
Your second problem:

A PDF document with links to other PDFs corrupts the URL and get 404. Works in IE.

One of our supplier sites has manuals online that are PDF docs with links from one to another. For example, when I click on "Tanaka" I get a PDF menu of Tanaka service manuals, etc. When I click on a section, such as "Chainsaw" I get a 404. Part of the directory structure in the URL is missing. For example when in the Tanaka PDF menu I click on Chainsaw I go to http://www.parklands.net/Resources/Tana%20CSaw%20Menu.pdf which is wrong. It should be http://www.parklands.net/Resources/Tanaka/Tana%20CSaw%20Menu.pdf, and in IE it is.

The linked documents will not be automatically converted to PDFs and merged
with your file, neither in Acrobat Standard nor in Acrobat Pro. You can do
it, but you'll need to do it manually by converting all the files to PDFs,
merging them and then adding the links between them.

We have been having issues with links on our email templates. Some of the links point to the following URL:

Sometimes we get “Unknown internal error” on the web page.
Can anyone help or advise on how to resolve this issue?

Hi Wesley,
This is rather late, but we've seen the same thing frequently (and I believe can replicate it). It's caused when you a creating a new email by copying the content of an existing one with a name space in it.
Upon copying, the link gets scrambled. The approach we use is to copy the email in to a new template, then strip out all of the URL links and add them back in.

Problem with links for external user

We´re using SAP NetWeaver Portal 2004s SPS 10 and we have a problem with links within notification-mails:
The link to the document (e.g. within a subscription mail) consists of "http:///...". Only user using the portal within our network can open this links. All external user can´t open this links. How can I change the URL so that our external user can open the links, too?

We already have another URL for external usage. My problem is how to define that created links to documents and folder are automatically using the external URL.
If somebody receives an email (e.g. subscription) the URL to the folder is:
http://<portalserver>:51000/irj/go/km/navigation/documents/Public Documents/Documentation
But it should be:
https://<externalportal>/irj/go/km/navigation/documents/Public Documents/Documentation

How can I open an app from an e-mail link that is associated with link.

I get e-mails with links in them all the time (from forms, online shopping, etc). Some of those links are for websites that have an iphone app associated with them (especially forums). When I click on the link it tells me as much, and if I click "ok" to that dialog, it takes me to the App Store and to that specific App, where I can download it. Even when I have that app installed, rather than taking me to that app when I click on the link, I get the dialog again telling me that there is an app associated with their website (which I already know because I have the app). Is there any way to get these links to open in the associated App, rather than trying to open them up in the browser?

How can I use Automator to open and save Word docs with links?

Hi-
I'm having trouble building a Workflow to open and save Word docs with links.
My Workflow so far:
1. Get Finder items
2. Copy Finder items (to new folder)
3. Rename selected items
4. Open selected items (Word docs)
Three problems occur.
The first is a Word 2004 problem -- I can't get the warning "This document has links in it; do you want to open it with/without updating the links" to go away (Unilke the Macro warning toggle capability, there is nothing in the Preferences for Word 2004 that addresses the links warning, as far as I can tell; any insight you can shed on this would be terrific.)
The second problem happens with Automator: if I manually accept the update of the first document's links, Automator opens that document but then halts completely, even though I've instructed it to open multiple documents.
The third problem I have is that there's no Finder action in Automator that allows me to save the document that's now open (as far as I can see).
Any suggestions for how to fix? If I can get this to work, and scheduled in iCal, it will be an unbelievable time saver.

These will rely on GUI Scripting. So first you need to activate GUI Scripting.
Now we need to add in a Run AppleScript action to the end of your workflow...
This will replace your current number 4 in the workflow (Open Selected...)

The above script should open each Word Document, press a button in the dialog box then do a save and then close the doc...then loop through the rest of them.

You will have to let me know what button needs pressing in the first dialog, if it isn't the 'highlighted ' one then we will have to amend the script...
