Reposting from Mac Pro forum - rthdaud.sys blue screen problem

Hi all, have been playing around in boot camp (gaming for the most part) and twice now have, after a few hours of perfectly fine system running, been presented with a blue screen naming rthdaud.sys as the cause. As this is the realtek audio high-def driver, I assume it's part of the boot camp driver package and should be okay.
What would be the first thing to try? Should I reinstall the apple boot camp driver for this? Perhaps get the driver (updated version?) from realtek's website directly? Thanks in advance for any help.

In two years running Vista 80% on Mac Pro, never had or seen an issue... possible there is something hardware wise wrong instead? or bad install?
Apple Hardware Test run?
In Vista have you ever run system file checker?
sfc /scannow
and chkdsk of course, don't know if side effect of freezes lead to file damage. Or if your hard drive just has a bad block even.

I managed to boot the computer and get the desktop to show. I now have a "repaired" computer. There are several problems that have cropped up. One is that I can only start up now in Safe Boot mode. Is there a way to turn it off? Also, I do not have a sound list, so I can't access anything requiring audio. Google Chrome only shows up as a white screen. Pictures that loaded before don't load in browsers, etc. Any suggestions? I figure I should reinstall Mac OS Lion for starts, maybe even do a mirror backup and reformat the drive. I think this drive has turned into scrambled eggs...what a headache!

  • Repost from soundtrack pro forum: advice needed on how to master a dj mix.

i posted the info below on the soundtrack pro forum and someone suggested i use waveburner to master my dj mix after it's been recorded:
when i record a mix in soundtrack pro, it's 1 long song. sometimes certain parts of the mix come in at a lower volume than other parts because some records or songs aren't as loud as the previous song that it was mixed out of.
how can i bring up the volume on the lower parts and make them equally as loud as the other songs? or, how do i level out the volume without making the mix sound worse?
any advice on getting the EQs and other settings right would be appreciated.
if anything's not clear, please let me know.

Apple today introduced Boot Camp, new public-beta software for Mac OS X that lets users of Intel Macs boot directly into Microsoft Windows XP. While the move may contradict previous statements by Apple, the company said they still have no intention of fully supporting Windows on the Mac.

After we released the Intel-based Macs we had a lot of customer requests asking if it’s possible to run Windows on those machines,” Brian Croll, Apple’s senior director of Software Product Marketing, told Macworld. “We decided we would help it along by creating Boot Camp.
The software, available today as a public preview version of a feature from the forthcoming Mac OS X Leopard, includes an assistant application to aid with drive partitioning and the installation of Windows drivers for Mac hardware.

  • Why does my Mac Pro randomly flash a blue screen to both monitors?

For a while now my Mac Pro (Early 2009) has this occasional issue. The system uses a pair of ViewSonic 22" monitors. At random times, both monitors just turn to a solid light blue color. After a brief time (1 to 5 seconds maybe) normal operation returns. The system is still working. Text typed on the keyboard during the 'blue' screen still shows in whatever application I'm in. Just the screen seems to be affected.
I leave the system running 24/7 with only occasional reboots (weeks or months apart). The screens I turn off at night. Most of the time this happens right after the system 'wakes' in the morning (temperature does not seem to be a factor). Although the system is doing this as I'm typing this. The blue screens show up than go away on their own. This repeats from one to ten times before it goes away. Once it is 'done' everything is normal until it happens again.
This 'issue' has been occurring since the original Snow Leopard. But, it also happened with Lion and now still happens with Mountain Lion (just upgraded to 10.8.2).
I am thinking this has something to do with the graphics controller (NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB). But, I've never found any online references to this sort of behavior.
Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

The cable connections have (so far) solved this problem for my situation. Even though the monitor's DVI cable was firmly connected to the mini Display port connector, when I touched it the attached monitor would go 'blue' or lose its connection entirely. After disconnecting and reconnecting this junction the monitors would still take a hit on touching the connection. I also checked the connection of the mini Display port connection to the graphics board and could not push it in any further. However, after a second go-round I unplugged this connection to the board and reconnected it. I am certain it was fully inserted the first time. But, connection contacts can oxidize over time and sometimes it may just need to be disconnected and reconnected to 're-wipe' the connections. This effectively cleans them at the point of contact. So in my case I'm thinking it was the connection age that was an issue more than a 'loose' connection. Either way, I haven't had this issue for the past two weeks.

  • My mac pro only shows a blue screen during startup? how do i get out of this to the desktop?

Cannot access the desktop, only the Apple sign and pinwheel icon come on, after a couple minutes it goes to blue screen only. Have held shift during bootup to start in safemode, but this doesnt even allow you to choose safe mode. Please help.

Try holding option+Apple Command + s keys to get into single user mode.  May be a little unnerving as it will get you to text based screen. Grab a pencil and paper and copy the commands that are listed also pay attention to the spaces.
    /sbin/fsck -fy <return>
If the it says File System Modified hit the up arrow key it will repeat the line you typed. Hit return.
If it DOES NOT say modified then type in the second line.
    /sbin/mount -uw /<return>
    At the prompt type reboot<return>
Let us know if it helps.

  • Mac Pro is booting to blue screen after installing a new Optical Drive

I am trying to install a new Pioneer 115D Optical Drive in the 2nd Drive Bay. After installation I turned back on my computer and it did not boot. I got to the blue screen and the computer just hung there. Any suggestions on what went wrong? I have read something about switching to cable select how might I go about doing that? Also Someone suggested to remove the drive lip. Does that need to be done before installation? I watched the OWC video and followed the instructions there but there was no mention about removing the lip or using Cable Select. Thanks for you help.

You have to remove the tray lip before putting the drive in the computer

When you reinstall the drive holder, make sure it doesn't slice or pinch any of the cables.

  • Accessing G3 from Mac Pro

I can't seem to figure out how to access my ethernet networked G3, running OS 9.1 from my Mac Pro. File sharing is turned on on the G3. Had no probs doing this from my old 3400 also running 9. I want to do a manual transfer/house cleaning of everything on the G3 to the Pro so I can wipe the B&W & install Tiger.

Since you aren't getting a lot of answers here, you may wish to post in the Mac Pro forums here:

You've ended up in the MacBOOK Pro forums; Apple's product naming gets a little too "similar" at times.
Alternately, you could ask in the networking section of the Leopard forums here:

  • How to delete applications from mac pro?

I think many people struggling at "How to delete appalications from Mac pro ,just because you made some mistakes or curious !" I know it is a bit difficut for people who are new users for the Mac .
If you really don't want them ,you can delete them easily,
As all you know after you download appalications from anywhere  ,it could be from apple app store or from other websites. They all can be disspeared if you don't like them .
First , If you installed from apple app store  it will be really easily  just click at the app on the launchpad, after few seconds all the apps will be all shaking like leaves ,yes they are scared .(No No  don't delete me  I am helpful !) Ok yes  that is a little joke ! so what you can see now there is a small "x" at the top right corner .Can you see them ? just click the "x" And they will gone .
Second step. This is only for you downoaded from other websites , In that case  , you just skip first step come to here  in order to save you some golden time .
You can delete them from the launchpad , I have tried many times . i tried to drug them in the the trash . But after them all jump back to where they are , So you need to open the Finder ---> click the download -----> find the file which is belong to the app (make sure ) ------->click it  -----> drug it into the trash. then you can hear a little sound like you through it into the bin. it is really humanny  isn't it ? then go back to the finder again .---->click the application -------> find the icon on there which is you just drag into the trash.  do it again . take this one into the trash as well  then you will find the icon on the launchpad is disppeared . at the end don't forget to empty your trash   After that all job done , it is been deleted  ,
    Well done !
Hope this could help all of your!
    Thanks for reading !

  • How do i save files from mac pro to an external hard drive

how do i save files from mac pro to an external hard drive

Your external drive is formatted NTFS which OS X can read from but not write to. You can either install third-party software on the Mac to enable writing to the drive or repartition and reformat the drive for exclusive use with the Mac. If you don't need to move files between a Mac and a PC, then I would recommend the latter solution.
    Tuxera NTFS 2012.3.2
NTFS for Mac OS X 9.5.3
    To repartition:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select the external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • Strange sounds from Mac Pro

Strange clicks going from Mac Pro soon after power up.
It may going from memory cage when temperature of memory is rising.
    Any ideas?

Or the graphic card if it has a fan. Or the fans if one is loose.
You should at least for awhile monitor the temperatures with one of the free/shareware utilities. If you push the system, you might even want to boost the fans from their default.
Try running Apple Hardware Test after you check for dust, loose cards. Could it be the PSU?
