Reproducible Bug with Displaying Moved Files

LR 2.0, Windows XP
I have the following folder hierarchy -
A
...B1
...B2
...B3
...B4
...B5
.......C1
.......C2
.......C3
.......C4
I'm seeing the following behavior
1) I select folder B5. Folder B5 does not have directly have images. Only the subordinate folders. (C1 through C4 contains the contents cards from multiple cameras used on a shoot.)
2) In grid display, viewing in sort order, I select the top N images of folder B5 and drag them into B1 or B2. (My goal is to get four DVDs that represent the shoot in time order.)
3) I see the "Moving Photos" and image names in the progress bar in the upper left corner of the screen.
4) After the move is complete, the moved images are still showing, even though the selected folder is still B5. (I say to myself, wait a minute, those images shouldn't be there, I moved them to a different folder.)
5) Right-click / Show in Explorer correctly finds the moved file for one of these images.
6) Hitting E for loupe view began removing the moved images from the grid, but VERY, VERY slowly. (I moved about 200 images, if that is possibly a factor.) It "never" completely refreshed the source grid.
7) However, if I quit out of LR, the folders appear the way I expect them.
8) If I stay in LR, but don't go to Loupe View, I can move around to different folders in my catalog. But when I come back to the original folder I was moving images from that folder (B5 in my example), and it still displays images that are no longer there!

I have this problem with my mac. My "fix" is to hit "delete" in grid mode then "remove" (not remove from disk) then command Z and the photos will be in your new folder will no longer show in the old folder. Hope they fix this!!!!!!

i have exactly the same problem.
Each node of the tree represents a directory. it can be a local or a remote one.
The only difference is the definition of the File class; the TreeNode class is the same for both.
Everything works correctly with local Files and fails with remote files.
Everything means : directory creation, supression, rename, expand all recursive subdirectories.
I can expand each node, even the ones associated with remote files, with user actions (mouse click, key typed) but I can't expand any node by programing.
Each action is efficient on the remote server, but the display doesn't change at all.
Something strange is that when I create a new JTree with a remote file as the root, expand all its recursive subdirectories and then display the Tree, it has correctly expanded.
Is it a refresh problem ?
Please help us, give us a clue...

File Not Found bug with long audio file names?

Hello -
Crazy problem. I'll probably post way too much information, but I want to make sure I cover everything. Help!
We run Logic Studio/Logic 8 on multiple 10.4.10/11 computers - G5 Power PC, new intel iMac, intel mini, G4 laptops. We are working on an audio post job using very messy OMFs that were prepared in Final Cut. We had problems opening them in Logic, so we opened the OMFs in Soundtrack Pro, exported to AAFs, and opened those in Logic.
The sessions look fine in Logic now (all files relinked), and the session is consolidated - ie, all files are local/in the project folder's Audio Files folder. I see this in the Audio Bin and can confirm in the finder.
Here's the problem. With the sessions closed:
(A) I renamed the project folder by adding an asterix to the front of the folder name, and changed the color label of the folder in the finder in order to mark it as the original folder.
(B) I made a copy of the whole folder (session files & audio files) in order to have something to work from and not mess up the original. When I opened up the session in the new folder, it immediately said audio file not found, do you want to search, locate, or skip. It couldn't find the file in a search, and obviously when you skip, then skip, then skip all, it opens the session with the data (regions are there but grayed) - so all the audio files are orphaned.
So when I try to locate the file, here's what happens. . . The audio file names are really horrendously long (must be some artifact of working in Final Cut). We're talking: "1087-001A SERG AIRPORT WAITING * 1-1channel_00044D02AA9- 363A-4CC5-A86B-0741023DB062.aif" - one bazillion characters.
So the audio file locate dialog box truncates the name of the file that's missing by using the first 20 characters or so, and then a "#" character, and then some random string of 3-6 characters that is not at all related to the file name. So who knows which of the 4-30 SERG AIRPORT files is supposed to go there!
Obviously if this were a 2 minute session file of 10 files or something, we could figure it out and relink everything, but we're talking about a feature-length session with a bazillion files.
(C) Okay, so I tried to open the original session, in the folder that I had renamed by prefacing the original name with an * and changing the color of the folder. But I started to get the file not found errors. OH GEEZ. So I didn't save. I re-renamed the folder by taking out the * and changing the color label back. Then I tried to open the session again, but I still kept getting the file not found problem.
I have to stress that I didn't move any of the audio files, or change ANYTHING in the session.
So I thought - is all of this because I tried to open a new instance of the session, in a new instance of the folder? Is it because I renamed the folders? Normally you can rename folders, even session names, no problems, and Logic corrects the paths to the audio files!
(D) So, crap. I reopened the original AAF file in logic and saved it in a new place. I closed the file, reopened it, closed, reopened, just to make sure everything was working! I checked the location of the files in the audio bin, and everything was great.
(E) So now I copied the folders to an external hard drive to be able to work on another computer. But when I tried to open the sessions on a new computer. . . You guessed it, nada.
So. . . the questions are:
(1) Those original sessions that now will not work - is there anything I can do to recover their functionality? We had work in there that I would prefer not to lose. . .
(2) Is this a known bug having to do with the length of the Audio File names?
(3) How do we get over this? My only idea so far is we could select all in a working logic session and say "Audio Tracks names to regions" or something and will that change the actual file names on teh computer? Then hopefully things would work on mulitple systems. . .

Bridge CS6 open file bug with Hasselblad RAW file

There is a bug in Bridge CS6 (or RAW editor?) with (some) Hasselblad RAW files. I have a set of FFF files that I can use and open without problems in Bridge CS6 (5.0.0.399 x64). But one file of them does not show a preview icon and when I try to open it in PS6 or RAW editor, I get an errormessage "unexpected end of file...". When I open the same file in Hasselblad "Phocus" software there is no problem. I can see the preview thumb and I can play around with the file and even export to TIF or DNG without any trouble. I can even open the exported DNG in PS or Bridge/RAW editor then.
Well, you might say I should not care for a single file but it leaves a bad taste, when the Hasselblad software can handle the file without problems...
If some developer want to take a look at this I could provide original files.

I work with a Hasselblad medium format camera. I do not have a CF card in use. And I can tell that this worked absolutely flawless for many years. I NEVER had corrupted files caused by transfer. Proble with displaying excel file on the PC?

I have another issue.
When the user presses push button in my application, I am displaying excel file with data. It is working fine. But... a dummy file is creating always in my desktop with DAT extension. Is there any possiblity not to store on the PC.
code I used for calling excel file.

How to do something with the moved file ???

I bet it is easy, but as I am new to AppleScript, still need help..
This is a folder action. When a new file is added to the folder, the folder action script runs, and if the file name contains a particular text, then the file is moved to another folder - in this case, it is moved to a folder on an external hard drive. It is described in this script:
copy name of thisItem as string to FileName
if FileName contains "House" then
move thisItem to POSIX file "/Volumes/ALL/House/Season 5/"
The problem is - in that folder (/Volumes/ALL/House/Season 5/) I also have set a folder action, that, for example, converts or opens every file added to folder. The things is that, it is rather slow to run 2 folder actions and I don't know why it is so, but I guess it is because of the external hard drive. My aim is to remove the folder action for the folder (/Volumes/ALL/House/Season 5/), and do everything in the initial folder action.
So the question is - How can I operate with (for example, convert or open the newly added file) the file added in the folder (/Volumes/ALL/House/Season 5/) via the first folder action script?
Or in other words, how do I use the newly added file? I tried to do it like this:
copy name of thisItem as string to FileName
if FileName contains "House" then
move thisItem to POSIX file "/Volumes/ALL/House/Season 5/"
open thisItem
But obviously, it opens the original thisItem! So how can I do something with the newly added file in the location /Volumes/ALL/House/Season 5/ ???

That's easy - you know the file name and you know the directory you copied the file to, so instead of:
open thisItem
you just:
open POSIX file "/Volumes/ALL/House/Season\ 5/" & FileName

Trouble with externally moving files in LR v2.3

Hi All,
Newbie here, so sorry if this is a stupid question.
I finally got a computer that is powerful enough to make LR useful, so I have been playing around with it the last few days and I really love it. My library is woefully disorganized so Ive been trying to clean up some of the layout. I've watched some tutorials such as this one:

In it, Julieanne demonstrates that she can move files in Finder and have the changes automatically reflected back in LR. However, this doesn't appear to work when I try it and I am not sure why. When I rename a directory, for instance, the Catalog grays out the original folder with a "?". I have to manually repoint each directory to its new name for LR to be happy again. I have been desperately searching the web and forums for any hints as to what may be wrong or if this feature is no longer supported, but I am coming up empty. Does anyone have any ideas?
I am running LR v2.3 on Leopard in case that matters.

The technique you describe is actually very close to what I was doing already (the difference is that in this context, the ctrl-click give you an option for "Find missing folder.." (or something like that) and not the "Update folder location" that you mention. I think the latter is the option you get when LR hasn't realized it lost track of the location, but I am not sure. I've seen that option in passing, but not while doing this particular task).
In any case, as you point out this is not anywhere near as slick as the feature apparently removed from LR 1.x -> 2. I am trying to re-org hundreds of folders so the manual clicking on each one was getting old fast I was hoping I could use tools like bash/sed and even finder to restructure my folders efficiently and just have LR follow my lead.
However, I also get the impression based on the context you provided that this may be my only option, unfortunately. I wonder why that feature was removed? It seems like it would be generally useful to anyone, not just disorganized yet prolific photogs like myself

Pda reproducible bug with logical shift operation when y 3 for arrays

Folks,
I have discovered a problem and wonder if this is a wider bug or if I am doing something wrong:
Labview PDA 8.0.1 - running on a Dell Axim:
I create a 2x1000 array of U32 and feed it as x into the logical shift operator. If y is between -3 and 3, the logical shift works properly. If y >= 4 or <= -4, then the array is returned with all zeros.
I have reproduced this for I32 data and smaller arrays. Logical shift works properly for scalars.
Has anyone else seen this? Is this a bug?

It might very well be a bug. If it works differently on the PC and on the PDA then it is almost certainly one.
I suggest you post a simple example showing this so that people with current versions of the PDA module (i.e. not me) can test this. Maybe it was even fixed for 8.2?

Help with Powershell - moving files to folders based on date

I have spent about a week on this task, and I know I am nowhere near an expert on Powershell, I am running into a wall.
Here is what I want to accomplish - I have a folder with 1000's of files going back three years. I want to write a PS script that will move all the files older than three months into archive folders based on the file creation date. I need two levels, Year
and inside the year, month.
Here is what I have so far

Have a problem with display PDF Files!!!!

When I open a PDF file that takes up to 20 minutes and leaves taken in open AcroRd32.exe process which can not close until you open the requested file, anyone know why this happens?

I'm presumably having a similar problem with pdf's in ibook. It seemed to work fine until about two updates ago. We're using ipad II's with ibook (latest version as of today) for our board of director's reports. These are sometimes several hundred pages and password protected pdf's. Now the more whiney members of the board are *******' at me, so I need to find a solution relatively quickly. Is there a way to back off the updates?
What it does.
When a PDF is chosen to open from the library, ibook open a "blank" file -- showing only the ibook background.
One can try closing and re-opening the PDF and after three or four times it'll open -- seems to be random.
These PDFs are created in Adobe Acrobat 9.

Problem with displaying flash file in UIX page

Hi everybody
I would like to use a flash file (.swf file) above all my UIX pages.
I want to put falsh file in the UIX template file (.uit file) so that
when I create pages based on template, it will be shown on the top of all pages .
Does anybody know if there is a solution for doing this ?
Which UIX tags can be used ?

Add tht html namespace like

Is this a bug in Installer Source Files Display

When building an installer in a LabVIEW project I added a directory under [SystemFolder] in the Destination View and it appeared normally in the Destination Window, with the - sign at the left. After exiting and reopening the Installer Builder there was no sign of this directory.
When I tried to add it again I got an error message saying it was already there.
The attached screenshot shows the error message and the (contradictory) lack of any sign of the directory being under [SystemFiles].
A similar-sounding bug was reported as fixed under LabVIEW 8.5.1 at http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=328532&requireLogin=False

Hi Owen,
I'm using LabVIEW2009 Pro. Perhaps I can say a little more. I was learning to use the Builder part of LabVIEW Project and trying to get it to place a number of directories of files in a number of locations. Because of this I closed and reopened it many times as I learnt how to make it do this and added more files to the project and build as I went along. I suspect that at some point the files used by the builder of the exe file or the builder of the Installer became corrupted or conflicting. It definately happened more than once but it's hard to say now what action or change might have caused it. I intend to delete what I have and start again. Now that I know a little more about it it should be possible to get it finalised with few iterations.
As to other programs stopping LabVIEW displaying the files I'm unsure what that might be. The computer in question has a few applications installed on it. Windows XP, LabVIEW, MAX, JTAG Technologies LMTools for JTAG testing, ASIX UP for a ByteBlaster PPROM blower, Altera Quartus II v9.0 for FPGA programming, Maxim1-Wire drivers, Cypress EZ-USB, and a Seiko SmartLabel printer program. But, as far as I know none of the non-NI programs would have been running when I was using Project to build the Application or Installer.

Camera Raw 4.4.1 has bug with Canon 40D raw files

I shoot with the Canon 20D, 30D, 40D, 1DMII, and the Rebel XTI. The Raw processor is showing an anomaly only with the 40D files. When I load raw images, and when the image is displayed, it is shown at one setting. Then in 3 seconds, its updated again at about 1/2 stop brighter. Each time I click on another image on the left column, same thing. The new image is displayed, then 3 seconds later, updated at about 1/2 stop brighter. THe histogram reflects the changes showing the data moving to the right. This only happens with the 40D raw files.
Whats up?
It happens regardless if "Auto" or "Default" is selected. I use "default" as a norm, never letting PS do an auto correction.
How do I stop Camera Raw from doing the second update? This has to stop.

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick. First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it. Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...

When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

How to display pdf file with java code?

when i am executing this code, it was opening dialog box for save and cancel for the file, but the name of the file it was showing me the "jsp file name" with no file extention (in wich jsp file i am calling my backing bean method) and type is "Unknown File type" and from is "local host"
it was not showing me open option so i am saving that file then that file saved as a pdffile with tha name of my jsp file and there is nothing in that file(i.e. empty file).
what is the solution for this. there is any wrong in my code.

This is my action method which will call when ever i press a button in my jsp page.
This method will create the barcode for the given barcode number and write that barcode image in pdf file
(i saw that pdf file which i have created through my above method, This PDF file opening when i was opening manually and the data init that is also correct means successfully it writes the mage of that barcode)
This method taking the jsp file to open because as earlier i said it was trying to open unknown file type document and i saved that file and opended with editplus and that was the jsp file in which file i am calling my action method I mean to say it was not taking the pdf file which i have created above it was taking the jsp file
