Republish iweb 1x pages in iweb 2x

How do I republish iweb 1x pages to iweb 2x? I copied the domain file for my old sites before I upgraded to iweb2. I tried copying this file into the users library file. Nothing happens. ANd I don't see my old pages.
Thanks,
Fielden

Fielden:
Is the 1x file the only file in the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder? It is titled domain.sites? Double click on it via the Finder and see if it won't open so you can see the pages.

  • Open iWeb '08 site in iWeb 09

I am trying to add new material to my existing web site (created in iWeb '08). But I don't know how to open the site in iWeb '09. Unfortunately, the "Domain" has been overwritten the first time I opened iWeb '09. How can I migrate an iWeb html page into iWeb '09 to update it?
    Thanks in advance

Hi, I am having the same problem. I created a website with blog and pictures using iweb 08 a week ago on mac. Now, I have new mac with iweb 09. I opened it, and it just gives you the option to create a new one? I did not save, so my original site is still there. How do I work on my site using iweb 09? I want to add some more entries onto my blog and add some more pictures from a trip.
There has got to be a way to do this?
    Thanks,

  • How can I get a song to play automatically on a web page ?     iWeb 1.1.2

Can I get a song to play automatically when my web page opens? iWeb 1.1.2

As long as you don't mind doing a little post publish editing of your .js files, it's fairly easy to do. You will find them in this path on your iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolder/Page.js
Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie: (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
    Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
    Change loop="false" to loop="true"
Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
Make the changes and just "Save". Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.

  • IPhoto Album updating iWeb Album page

OK .. I'm lost! I created an iWeb Album page and a new matching iPhoto album to put the photos in. Now I've added new photos to the iPhoto album and they don't show up in iWeb. There is a lot of work on the iWeb page with a lot of descriptions etc and I don't want to have to delete the page and drag in the new updated album. What am I missing? How to I sync any newly added pictures in the iPhoto album with the iWeb album?
    Thanks...

The iWeb pages don't automatically update like iPhoto Web Galleries do. You will have to add the new photos to the iWeb photo page and republish that page.
If you were using a iPhoto Web Gallery in an iWeb page then all you would have to do is click on the publish button in iPhoto and the gallery would be updated when accessed via iWeb.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Iweb page to iweb 2008

I created a page with an older version of Iweb. How can I move it to iweb 2008 without redoing it all over.

Arnold ~ If you've just installed iLife'08 on your current Mac, +iWeb 2+ will automatically upgrade your +iWeb 1+ pages when you start up +iWeb 2+ for the first time.
Once upgraded, you'll need to republish them. If you're hosting on .Mac, in +iWeb 2+ do +File > Publish All to .Mac+.
If you've bought a new Mac, the +Migration Assistant+ is located in +Applications > Utilities+; see this Apple article +"Move All Your Stuff to a New Mac — Quick"+:
    http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/migration.html
    ...and this +"Migration Assistant FAQ"+:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25773
...Once you've transferred your files, start up +iWeb 2+ and your +iWeb 1+ pages will be automatically upgraded. Likewise in this case also, you'll need to republish.

  • .Mac pages to iWeb

I came across a description somewhere of converting .Mac pages to iWeb pages. It goes on to say that any photos would benefit from the superior slideshow features of iWeb. However I cannot remember where I have seen it.
The only reference I can see to .Mac now is that you cannot edit .Mac pages with iWeb.
Has anybody seen the above reference or got any suggestions on converting .Mac pages to iWeb pages?
    I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Jim

Well, I don't think there is a way to convert .Mac Homepage pages into iWeb sites. The bad news is that there currently isn't even support in iWeb to import already published iWeb pages back into editable form by iWeb. So the long and short of it all is that you would have to republish your photo galleries using iWeb in order to take advantage of the "fancier" slideshow feature.
A lot of people who have been using Homepage up till now choose to make links so that visitors can move between the "old" Homepage site and the new iWeb site instead of republishing everything. There's a pretty good tutorial written by our very own willG4pb that walks you through establishing this link between .Mac and iWeb...

Check it out and see if it might be an option for you.

  • How to add Animated GIF to an iWeb '11 page?

Trying to take our existing website (not created in iWeb) and recreate in iWeb.  Have an animated GIF on our home page.  When I try to drag the GIF to the iWeb page, it's no longer animated.  And when I publish, again it's no longer animated.  I need help.
    Doug

It should play.  Publish you site to a folder on the hard drive and open it locally to see if it plays there.
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Make sure there's no object under the gif file.  I found trying to put an image behind it would kill the gif and require me to remove the give and add it again to the page.  They seem to be a little picky.

  • Keeping iWeb album pages intact after transferring domains

My company needs to transfer iWeb sites to other computers so that multiple users can edit the sites. We know how to transfer the domains, but when the sites are opened on the other computers, the photo album pages are missing. This is obviously because those photos don't exist in the new computer's iPhoto.
My question is: Is there a way to save photo album pages to iWeb so that when the iWeb domains are transferred the photos stay intact? I don't want us to have to send photos all over the place where the new users must upload them into their own iPhoto, etc.

iWeb is a "single user" application and each user account has their own special folder and "package" file that is used by iWeb.
Multiple user accounts to one of these "packages" is very impractical.

  • Can not create a page in iWeb.

    Hi there,
I suddenly can not create a new page with my site on iWeb. I can also not import photos by dragging them over, nor can I create a new site with iWeb!
Last time this happened I quite iWeb then it woudn't open again. I have managed to get my website back but now face the same problem with not being able to create a new page etc!
    Any ideas?
    Sarah

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents of the User/Home/Library/Caches/iWeb folder
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Photo Gallery page on iWeb - Sharing some experience....

I am an Aperture user and my starting point was to create nice web photo galleries from Aperture...
    - I got quickly frustrated with the lack of customization of the standard Aperture Web pages (font, color, size...).
    - Aperture 2.1 MobileMe galleries are a bit better but not what i wanted either.
    - Then i found out that i could easily export photos from Aperture to iPhoto, and then from iPhoto to iWeb, and that iWeb would offer me more customization options.
    - Following that route, i imported my Aperture photos into iPhoto, then used the Share/Send to iWeb/Photo Page function.
    - Having some experience using iWeb, i was able to customize the template somehow, but got frustrated by the apparently fixed web page size, which at first seemed to stick to a 700x480 format for the photo gallery... and i would like to show the pics at around 1200x1200....
    - Until i played with the Album style pop up window and found that depending on the style chosen, the photo gallery size could expand up to 1200 pix width ! (that with the Album style which is on 1st column/3rd row). But then double clicking on thumbnails would randomly expand the given picture to between 700 and 1200 pix width...
This is where i got to. Now a few questions, if you're still with me :
    - Am i correct to assume that there is no direct interface available between Aperture and iWeb, and that i need to use this iPhoto intermediate step?
    - Has anyone found a way to fully customize the size of photo galleries in iWeb (both for the thumbnail display area and for the magnified picture area)?
    - If not, can someone point me to a comprehensive resource detailing the iWeb template creation steps ?
Thanks in advance, and to add a wish : could Mr Apple think of standardizing/optimizing/improving the web gallery generation process across its platform for the next versions ?

I've read in this forum that Aperture has a setting to make it's photos available to other iApps, see this post, via the Media browser but not galleries created by it in the Web Snippet menu, see the last post in this topic.
Submit a feature request to both iWeb and Aperture at:

  • Is there a way to password protect a photo page in iWeb?

My website is open to whoever wants to look at it but I do photography work for clients and would like to password protect their photos. Is there anyway I can password protect just my photo gallery page in iWeb? Thanks!

If you publish to a server other than MobileMe you can password protect any directory - either by using Webshell or via the .htaccess. If you use the latter method, the data can be compiled using a generator....
    http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/password/
MobileMe users need to create a new site for the protected content. This site can appear to be part of the main one if it is included in a text based navigation as an external hyperlink or by using a snippet code with the default navigation. This was answered by Cyclosaurus in this topic....

  • I updated to os x 10.8.5 today and now I cannot publish changes to my web page through iweb.  iweb crashes every time I try to publish

I updated to os x 10.8.5 today and now I cannot publish changes to my web page through iweb.  iweb crashes every time I try to publish

    First do the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Next, in Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • ITunes Looking for the "Title" of my iWeb Podcast Page/URL???

have created a podcast page in iWeb and tried to Submit to iTunes and now it asks for the Title of the Podcast???
Have filled in as many of the page names, file names as I think is possible and still get this message.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Would be great if they had a link on the iTunes submit page that would tell us what to do on iWeb.

You are making your podcast in WordPress and submitting it to Feedburner to pass on to the Store. If you want to change the title you have to do this in WordPress: however it looks as if Feedburner generates the feed filename from the title:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheInconvenientTruthFileInPodcastTheInconvenientTrut hExploringTheFactsBehindTheFictions
so if you change the title you will likely change the URL and iTunes will lose contact with the feed. I don't know whether it will do this (logically it shouldn't) but you would have to find that out from their Help (if any). Otherwise you can only try it and if the feed URL does change, change the title back.
As you don't have direct access to the Feedburner feed, then if Feedburner changes the URL you will not be able to add the redirection tag necessary to change iTunes to a different feed - so it's possible you may be stuck with what you've got.

  • How to redirect a page on iweb

Hi I have an online store @ cafepress that I built with them..Is there a way to create a page on Iweb that visitors click (the tab) and are then taken to that specific page or is there a way to embed that page into an iweb page....any help would be appreciated.

You can make an external link for taking visitors on that page or you can embed that page in yours through an iframe but that doesn't work very well so I wouldn't recommend you to do that.
