  • Questions on "FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs"

    Hi,
I just got through the FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs, but have some further questions:
For me it is not quite clear which connections are necessary for which VAR scenrio.. currently we have setup the service desk in our solman. Customer's aren't linked to the solman yet - we have saprouter-saprouter connections. Connecting them via SAP support backbone is an interesting option, especially for incident management. To get this working we should follow note 1124718 right?
But what about the other scenarios like maintenance optimizer and ewa monitoring? I guess for that we definitly need to build up RFC connections to each relevant customer system (~300+x)?! I think it will be hard to handle so many connections - just consider if a customer is cancalling the maintenance contract, everything needs to be removed again... best would be to have a central communication point...
For MOPZ we need up-to-date system information. So everyone is talking about SLD. Do you also recommend this option? There we need again a connection (direct to SolMan SLD or via external SLD on customer side).
According to the FAQ there is a workaround for ewa monitoring for customers with security doubts.. is this also working for non-ABAP components? We need SMD and WI for generating ewas for JAVA systems...
With regards to Enterprise Support contract: ewa only need to be monitored for productive systems? Can a customer be charged if they want to have ewas monitored for other sytems too? How long do we need to keep the ewas (1 month, 3 months, half year) before they are deleted? Are there any specific requirements?
All the work to get these scenarios working.. is this covered within the Enterprise Support contract? Can the customer be charged for work thats done by the VAR in their system (e.g. RFC connections, SDCCN, SLD,...)?
Sorry for this long text.. hope you have some helpful ideas!
    Regards,
    Richard

    Hello Richard,
    (1) regarding network connections see document [Draft:Technical Support Network Connections for VAR Scenario|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089947&_OBJECT=011000358700000880802009E] as overview and with a lot of detailed information.
    (2) yes, you have to setup once all your customer connections at the beginning but then only add/remove with customer contract changes
    (3) the workaround by sending by email can handled a anexception. EWA has to be done for productive systems like nowadays done by SAP. Additional EWA services could meas additional business case for a VAR - that's contract between VAR and customer.
    (4) whatever you think may be a business to sell - do it ! (and get a monetary bonus from your boss
    Kind regards

  • FI Certification FAQ on Solution manager

    Dear Friends Good Evening,
I am appearing for SAP FI Certification on next month first week, so any one could help me
What type of question will come on Solution manager and New G/L?
please let me know the status.
if any one having FAQs on Solution manager and New G/L please forward to me.
    Regards,
    Babu

    Hi Babu,
The new certification system has 55% passing marks.
There is no partial marking. Means any question you answer, it has to be correctly marked to the point. If it has 2 correct options, you have to mark exactly those 2 to get marks.
    Questions are 80.
    Time Period: 3 hours.
    No Negative Marking.
    35% questions are from TFIN50_1. 30% are from TFIN50_2. 20% are from TFIN52_1. 10% are from TFIN52_2.
These four books are like bible for the certification.
    http://www.daypo.net/test-sap-fi-tfin50_1.html
    http://www.saptechies.com/sap-fico-certification-questions/
You DO NOT have to learn the T-Codes for the exam.
There are 4-5 questions from Solution Manager and other online training courses too. These are small and can be read and completed just with in one day.
    Thanks

  • Solution Manager Setup & Configuartion

    Hi There
This is a question on Solution Manager setup.
We are in the process of configuring Solution manager. Basically we have installed two Sol Man 7.0 (Ehp1) systems development (SOD)  and Production (SOP)
We are insterested in configuring EWA and also would want CCMS monitoring (diagnostics) for our R3, SCM,and BI systems and we are not implementing CHARM, Service Desk or any other functionalities. I would like to know how to proceed with utilising the Dev and prod Solution manager systems for acheiving the above. I would like to get some suggestion on which system should be used to configure the EWA and monitoring. These are the two scenarios that I am considering and would like some suggestion on.
    Scenario1:
create Dev Landsacpe & Solution for Dev systems in SOD and Prod Landsacpe & Solution for Production systems in SOP
Turn on EWA and Diagnostics for Prod system in SOP
    Scenario2:
create Dev Landsacpe & Solution for Dev systems in SOD and a master landscape and solutions for all the systems (Dev& Prod) in SOP. Turn on EWA and Diagnostics for Prod systems in SOP
What are the pros and cons for the above options ? Is there any other better options ?
NOTE: We do not have PI(or XI) and have no other Landsacpe config except for BI systems which have been installed as a local SLD. Our R3 4.7 and SCM are on SAP BASIS 620. The idea is to turn on EWA and monitor only the production systems. We are not implementing any Business Solutions in Sol Man system.
    Thanks

This is the SAP recommended way to create your solutions. All Dev Systems into one solution and All PRD systems into a separate solution.
check this note 1257308 for EWA FAQs.

  • Solution Manager for Implementation of solutions

    Hello Guys
I am new to Solution Manager and wanting some PDFs related to Solution Manager (Business Blueprints), Service Desk, Charm and BPM. Can anyone of you please let me know where I can find some documentation which will help me in my understanding? I appreciate your response.
    Thanks

The PDFs you mention are copyrighted material, they are not (legally) available. You'll get a printed hardcopy if you attend the courses.
Unfortunately I'm not aware of any documentation beyond RKT and help.sap.com that is freely available.

  • Solution Manager and Content Server / KW

    Hey guys,
Im supposed to assess the advantages of using a content server instead of the database used by SolMan to store documents.
Found some articles about connecting the content server but got confussed about the whole knowledge warehouse thing that seems somehow to be integrated in SolMan.
Apparently that's a different Version of the KW, providing a change history but lacking some other features. Found e.g.  this document here: [Solution Manager and SAP KW Documents |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/EN/a4/4f691faacf423db80f286787c5a527/content.htm]
Can someone give me an overview about what's possible by using these two things togehter?
It's been kind of hard to find some good infos and I'm relatively new to that topic (especially the KW thing), so I really hope you guys can help me.
    Cheers Joerg

    Hello LuongDK,
Please refer to the FAQ section on http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager, Check the installations section:
Which system should I use to install SAP Solution Manager?
The system has to be dedicated to the SAP Solution Manager. No other components can be installed on top of SAP Solution Manager.
SAP Solution Manager does not necessarily require separate hardware. It can be installed as a separate instance on an existing hardware.
This means that the hardware can be shared if it is sufficient to support 2 systems. However a MCOD option is not recommended at all.

  • Upgrade to SAP Solution Manager 3.2 to 7.0 EHP

    Dear Experts
At present I am using SAP Solution manager 3.2. Now I am planing to update SAP Solution Manager 7.0.
I am some confutation in SAP Solution Manager 7.0 and SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1,
what i do please help me.
    Regards
    Sanjay C.

EHP1 is basically a product enhancement of 700 - i.e offers new functionality
Usually to get to Enhancement packages you need to be operating NW2004S stack based product - in this case 4.0 (now called Solution Manager 7.0)
I think this proposal will require first an upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0
then after applying Enhancement Package EHP1 and following pre-reqs for both steps
Also bearing in mind that Solution Manager is RFC dependant any change in SID, Hostname or client will require
all RFC connections will need to be adapted
There may also be special considerations depending on source configuration or the active Solution Manager scenarios and content
I would take a look at following PDF for reference - it may help in the initial 3.2-->4.0 upgrade

  • Using Solution Manager 4.0 to control SLD

    Hello everyone:
I've installed SolMan 4.0 on an Instance, and in another instance, a whole NetWeaver stack 2004s. Now I'm configuring XI and as a pre-req I need SLD configured.
My question is, do I need to configure it on SolMan, or just in the Java side of my installation? if I do it only on JAva, will I be able to "see" it on the Sol Man?
    Thanks a lot!
    Alejandro

    Hi Alejandro,
You just need one central SLD for all your landscape, you just need to decide where to put it. Is not true that you must have a local SLD for XI, XI needs an active SLD but can be local or remote.
You can configure one CENTRAL SLD for all your systems, first decide which will be your SLD, then you can configure all your systems to "send" their own information to the CENTRAL sld. see the link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/01ea90ab24235de10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm in the secction "Configuring Systems to Connect to SLD".
When you finish with this all your systems will be sending their information to the SLD periodically.
SolMan and XI uses the information stored in the SLD to opperate correctly, so now you must do some customizations in order to have SolMan and XI reading information from SLD.
In the case of SolMan you can make some customizations in order to have the landscape (SMSY) up to date using the SLD as data source. Do not get confused with the SLD and the transaction SMSY because there are different things.
Read the document "How to: Exchanging System Data between SMSY and SLD " from the link below:
    https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=OBJECT&_HIER_KEY=501100035870000009816&_HIER_KEY=601100035870000154900&_HIER_KEY=701100035871000330691&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&#HOME
And XI is the same thing.  You can configure it to connect to your central SLD. look on the post installation of your XI version.
In our case we have one central SLD instaled on the java stack of our solution manager server, and we have one server form BW, another server for Enterprise Portal, and another server for PI (previuously called XI). All of them sends their own information to SLD. And Portal, XI and SolMan reads information from the central SLD. So now our SMSY in SolMan is allways up to date, also XI.
    Regards.

  • New to Solution Manager Implementation

    Hi Experts:
We have implemented SAP ECC 6.0 in our company, our Organization decided to implement SolMan SP15. I will be a part of the team to implement SolMan. Just give a background of my experience, I am a MM Consultant.
I need some direction from the Experts, first from where to start. Any relevant links to the right documents will be very helpful.
Secondly for a SolMan consultant what should be the prerequisite from the previous experience point out view. It is required that the candidate to have SAP Basis knowledge.
Any helpful guidelines and links to the material will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    James

    Hi Bill
For you it is better to go to Solution manager functional role...or Solution consultant
which is actually involved in implementation point of view.
For you it is not required to learn basis........for e.g u r gng to do a ECC implementation ....wht is req from u will be
Basis will set up landscape RFC logical component etc
And you will create a project in solmaan do the blueprint in Solar01 etc.......for satellite ECC system
and Even in the operation like Service Desk /CHARMS etc....can BASIS go and understand client processes ....and implement it in solman service desk.
I dont think so....basis install solman and activate bc sets and do some basic configuration.....
there after there are lot of CRM sort of configration like Sold to party and other BP creation with determination rule which is ofcourse can be done by you as u being functional role understand the ORG hierarchy of the client.SLA implementation etc.
I hope it clarifies ur doubt

  • Solution Manager users consume a SAP Licence

    Hello
I've been working with customers with Solution Manager and  I got a very extrange question.   A company has got a restriction about the numbers of users that can be created in Solution Manager.  They were said that only users which have a SAP productive licence (ERP/CRM/SRM, etc.) are allowed to use Solution Manager.  So, they deleted all users which do not have a productive user.  So all the consultants now cannot use SolMan for the projects.
In my view, this totally wrong, since you want to have all your support team, and consultants working in projects, using Solution Manager as fundamental tool, an for sure, most of them will NOT have user in the productive system.
Do you have any clear statement somewhere in the Enterprise Support contract or somewhere else which clearly state that users in SolMan need to have a productive licence?  Is there any note, mail from SAP that say so?
    I appreciate your input.

    Hello,
I got an answer from some very knowledgeable person at SAP, responsible for Solution Manager:
    Hi Everyone:
The SAP Solution Manager is covered under the customeru2019s support agreement, so normally we have the customers address this with their account team if they have any questions.  There is more information in the solution manager homepage FAQ.   Note that all use of SAP Solution Manager is u201Ccoveredu201D by the customer agreement, including users.  The only exception is use of Service Desk for non-SAP components, in this case the account team can inquire if any additional licenses are required.

    2. What is the cost of installing SAP Solution Manager?
The following items regarding SAP Solution Manager are covered:
    The SAP Solution Manager Software.
The license for SAP Solution Manager Standard Edition.
The license for MaxDB (formerly known as SAP DB). If customers choose to use a different database, database license costs may apply depending on the customer's agreement with his database vendor.

    3. Which licenses do customers need for SAP Solution Manager?
To run SAP Solution Manager, customers need the following licenses:
    SAP Solution Manager
