  • Bios Request N660Ti PE 2GD5

I just noticed this perhaps after having my PC for 3 years. I don't know when this problem started but I need it fixed. Only one of my fans are working unless I use Afterburner and change fan speeds to 85% or higher. I read somewhere that updating my bios might fix it but Live Update 6 isn't working.

  • Prepurchase question for: N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC

I am very interested in buying an MSI video card (N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC) but I want to be 100% sure it has a VBIOS that supports UEFI GOP for fast booting with my MSI Z77A-GD65.  I have been reading topics on here and it sounds like it might ship with a UEFI GOP compatible VBIOS or there might be a beta BIOS available.
The BIOS download page: www msi com/product/vga/N660Ti-PE-2GD5-OC.html#?div=BIOS alludes to a this video card having a "hybrid" BIOS.  Does that means UEFI GOP + legacy support?
    Thanks for your help.

It should ship with GOP drivers, if it doesn't we can get you the vbios to flash. No worries.
Make sure to flash you mainboard bios to the most recent, if you ask when you are ready, I can prepare an archive so that it flashes the me extension as well.
Sweet!  And thanks xmad.  My Z77A-GD65 is flashed with the latest already.  I'll put my order in soon and see how it goes.

  • MSI N660TI PE 2GD5/OC DirectX Error

I've bought the MSI N660TI PE 2GD5/OC 3 weeks ago and use it together with below hardware. I've tried installing all drivers from MSI (including the latest one released begin July), but keep having the same problem. After I installed the driver I can play games just fine. But when I shutdown the PC and start it up the next day (haven't tried it the same day so far) and play Battlefield 3, I get an error message somewhere between the 15 and 60 minutes and the game hangs. Only thing I can do is CTRL+ALT+DEL and select Task Manager so it goes back to Windows and then shutdown the game by clicking right mouse button on the game and select Close.
DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: Device hung due to badly formed commands.. GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti", Driver 32018
I can't figger out where the error comes from. I've read some posts which say that uninstalling MSI Command Center should solve the problem, but that didn't help for me.
    Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
    CPU: Intel I5 4670K Haswell
    CPU cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 412S
Memory: GEIL CL11-11-11 D3-2133 4GB (2 modules in slot 2 and 4 on the motherboard)
PSU: CoolerMaster Silent Pro MII 620W ATX23
If you need anymore information, please let me know! Thank you in advance.

I've tried the MSI drivers who came with the video card (the 306.97, which you can also download from the website). Also I've tried the following drivers from NVIDIA itself: 320.49, 320.18, 314.22 and the 310.90, for all drivers it was the WHQL version.
I haven't tried another videocard except for the onboard Intel HD4600 and that worked fine (even though I had to downgrade the graphics a bit, but that's understandable).
My old computer is to small for this videocard and haven't had time to test it at a friend of mine. But he has the exactly same card purchased at the same store. He has Z77-G45 motherboard, i5 3670K CPU and some older memory. I've installed my operating system from a USB device from him, so that's the same to. I also tried the same drivers as him (forgot which drivers this exactly was), but didn't work.
I forgot to mention it before, but I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

  • N660TI PE 2GD5/OC Blank Screen on POST

    Hi,
    The Summary:
Turning on PC with N660TI plugged in presents blank screen on POST.
Am able to get the card working by "jump starting it" - read below for details
Have tried many things and am stuck.
    Please help!
    The Detail:
I was given a N660TI PE 2GD5/OC in October last year from the US as a gift (I live in South Africa) and when it first arrived I placed it in my Asus P8P67 Evo Motherboard and it failed to POST completely.  We tried it in my friends Asus P8P67 board and it worked 100%, his MSI 560TI works 100% in my P8P67 Evo.  In December, Asus released a BIOS update for the P8P67 Evo to bring it on-par with the P8P67 and we could get the 660TI to POST by booting the machine with no PCI-E Power plugs installed, waiting for the message to appear to say "plug in power to the card", then plugging in power and hitting the RESET button on the board - this works everytime and I have been "jump starting" my pc like this for some time.  We have tried BIOS updates and VBios updates and eventually today, I got fed up and bought a MSI Z77A-GD65 thinking it was a faulty P8P67 Evo.
After installing the MSI Z77A-GD65 the situation is the same.  We have now updated the MSI to the latest BETA UEFI Bios (A91) and the 660TI to the latest vbios I found on the forums which is 220MS.Rom.
Tonight, my friend will take the card and try it on his motherboard (P8P67) again and we will update the post tomorrow.
Has anyone got any suggestions for us as I am at my wits end and as I received the card as a gift from overseas, the local Distributors will not help me and I will have to send it to Europe at an expense of about 60% of the cost of a new card locally which doesn't really make much financial sense :(
    My Hardware:
    Intel Core I5-2500K (Stock)
MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard (was ASUS P8P67 Evo)
Coolermaster 600W Silent Pro Gold PSU
    MSI N660TI PE 2GD5/OC (Stock)
    2x Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3-1600
    Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit
    OCZ Agility 3 SSD
    N660TI PE S/N:  602-V284-09SB1208153785
    Thanks
    --Craig

Ok I seem to have solved the problem.  I replaced my PSU with a 450w spare one and now it POSTs - I must mention the 600W Coolermaster does work 100% with my friends 560 Ti and another card, so there is nothing wrong with the PSU itself.
My Windows was also crashing the driver after this every 5 mins, but after changing the TDRDelay registry key to 20, it is stable the whole night so far.
Any ideas why this card does not POST with my VERY expensive PSU.  I have read on Tomshardware that apparently some PSUs cause the card not to POST because of changes MSI made to the card?

  • Problem with new MSI GTX660Ti N660TI-PE-2GD5/OC

Hi , I've just bought a new MSI GTX660Ti GPU from amazon , i was previously running the on board HD4000 graphics from the Intel I7 3770K CPU.
When i plug the new GPU in and reboot - i get the 'GIGABYTE' splash screen on my monitor , and it just hangs there -I am unable to enter any of the options and pressing DEL , F8 , F12 etc gives no response.
I've installed all the drivers , and i simply switch off the PC , installed the graphics card , take the DVI cable out of the mobo socket and plug it into the GPU socket then switch on.
The bios beeps once , the display remains frozen on the splash screen for about 3 minutes , then another single beep from the bios and   the display remains frozen on the splash screen for another4 or 5 minutes , then eventually the screen goes black , with just a single flashing underscore. No keyboard inputs make any difference.
re-booting just gives the same result.
BIOS settings are all at default  Including >  Init Display First - Auto , Internal Graphics - Auto
So , is there something that i'm doing wrong or is the new graphics card DOA ?
    Please help
    Many thanks

  • N660Ti-2GD5/OC VS N660Ti PE 2GD5

Hoping someone can help with the subject comparison.  I recently ordered the N660Ti PE 2GD5 edition card, but the online shop sent me the N660Ti-2GD5/OC instead.  I have asked them to exchange for the correct card, but they are refusing, despite my order clearly being for the PE edition.
What are the differences between these cards?  My long term strategy was to pick up a second card and run in SLI; will there be a performance drop with the OC card opposed to the PE.  Should I pick up a PE as the second card, or stick with the same?
    Any advice will be appreciated.

1: ok both use the same GPU type so in that regard there the same <--- no difference there
2: the PE has a boost clock of 980MHz and the /OC one has a boost clock of 1019.5MHz (39.5MHz more) <--- the N660Ti-2GD5/OC is better clock wise
3: the RAM on both Cards is the same in both quantity and Frequency <--- no difference there
4: the N660Ti PE 2GD5 has MSI's Twin Frozr IV cooler with 2 cooling fans and the N660Ti-2GD5/OC only has a single but larger and thicker fan in the middle <--- maybe the Twin Frozr one would perform a little better by a few degrees but i usually find a larger single fan is quieter
5: the N660Ti PE 2GD5 has a custom PCB with more power delivery where as from what i can see the N660Ti-2GD5/OC is running a Nvidia Reference design board <--- the PE has Much better power delivery then the one there pushing onto you
the 2 models differ in price too the one they sent you is cheaper by about $5 US if i was you i would lodge a formal complaint with them for failure to deliver on your purchase agreement and demand the product you ordered (but thats just me)!
