REQ - MSI U270 BIOS mod with unlocked UEFI option

Hi guys, I'm new to this board.
I've searched everywhere and couldn't find any MSI U270 BIOS mods. I'm trying to upgrade to the Windows 8 BIOS, but since the update package can only be used under UEFI mode, I'd have to enable UEFI in my BIOS. BUT, there isn't an option to do that, and there isn't a DOS version of the BIOS update either.
Thanks in advance.

unlocked bios won't help you with this

  • Y510p Bios mod, Best unlocked bios settings.

Im starting this thread so that for all who have unlocked their bios for wirelesscard whitelist removal or what ever, using the link on techInferno using svl7 mod can have a guide as to what settings can be used to improve the performance of their y510p and what settings to stay away from.  For those who have difficulties in retrieving the files from techInfernos website can pm me. Any and all suggestions and requests are welcome. Happy modding.

    Hi shfearon
    Thanks for the BIOS files.
I also posted on TI but as you know, no one is reviewing my posts (genuine). Could you please download and provide the VBIOS file as well please, they are in the following thread in second post.
    http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/4668-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-whitelist-mod-vbios-mod.html
I think these are the files -

Also, I have another question -
Can I just flash  the VBIOS? I dont need the BIOS unlocked, just the options that VBIOS can provide to play around with the voltages and settings of the Ultrabay GPU.
Thanks again and here is a Kudo for your efforts.

  • Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar -blue

For some reason the 'Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar' option has a blue background now. The background used to be gray, and then one time i opened up Photoshop and now the background is blue. It is very annoying and affects my painting. The grey was neutral, now it is blue so my colors are going to appear off.
If you don't know what i mean: Open Photoshop, make a canvas (new image) Hit the key "F" on your keyboard 2 times so the canvas takes up the entire page but the menu bars are still up. The color around the canvas is Blue, when it has ALWAYS been gray.
Please someone tell me how to fix this.

I found out a solution. If anybody ever encounters this problem just right click on the background and select Gray. :)

  • Request MSI GX640 UEFI boot bios mod

Hello I was wondering if someone could help me re-enable the UEFI Boot option in the latest MSI GX640 bios version E1656IMS.10F
Also is it possible to add SSD support in AHCI mode as well, because currently I can not get an ssd to boot in that mode. It only works in IDE mode for some reason.
I would also like it to be fully unlocked.
    Thank you!

Alright cool. The reason I asked about the UEFI Boot feature is because it was enabled in the original BIOS, but they disabled the feature in a BIOS update because when the feature was enabled it would cause the system to hang when booting from a CD/DVD.
I bought this Dell AMD HD 7970m GPU for my GX640 and I found out that it is a UEFI card that doesn't have a legacy vBIOS, and after I installed it, my laptop would not post and I got a black screen. I was thinking that if I had that UEFI Boot feature back, then my computer would boot with the GPU installed in it. Please correct me if I am wrong, and please let me know if some sort of BIOS mod would make this GPU work in my GX640.

  • MSI GTX 750 Ti with Motherboard Legacy BIOS

I was wondering if I could run the MSI GTX 750 Ti with a Legacy BIOS. I recently purchased an EVGA GTX 750 and it is not compatible with my motherboards Legacy BIOS (had no idea before purchasing it). I know MSI's has a Dual BIOS switch on the card, so I was wondering if it would work?
I have a pre-built HP system, the HP P7-1233w. I know the GTX 750 Ti has a TDP of 60w, my power supply is a 300w HP with two +12v rails. The +12va has 12a and the +12vb has 16a.
So if anyone can tell me if the MSI GTX 750 Ti (specifically this card: MSI N750TI-2GD5/OC) will work with my Legacy BIOS Motherboard that would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

    Quote
What does the Dual BIOS switch do on the card? Does it relate to the motherboard BIOS, or no?
No, it offers a legacy and UEFI/GOP vbios for Win8 feature support (fastboot/secureboot). If using a board with a legacy bios it is irrelevant what vbios is selected as both are supporting legacy mode (UEFI/GOP vbios is hybrid). Only for boards with a UEFI bios which is not GOP compliant using the legacy vbios is required.

  • MSI Twin Frozr Gtx 770 4gb uefi bios

    Hey guys.
    First time posting here.
Does my graphics card come with a uefi bios? If not, how do I get one and how do I flash it? I'm experiencing black screen hangups on startup, on a new build and people say a bios flash may be the solution.
    Thanks.

A few weeks ago, I built my own pc and installed Windows 8.1. I've installed just basic drivers from vendors websites and avast, malwarebytes, some benchmarking utilities and games. I'm getting really sluggish startup speeds, and my pc stops at a black screen after the windows logo but before the logo. The way I would describe the black screen is, it happens after the windows logo but before the welcome screen - a black screen from 8-15 seconds. I cannot move my cursor or see anything. Some research from the likes of eightforums etc suggests its my gpu drivers, so I decided to post here.
    What I've tried:
Reinstalled video card drivers to see if it stops black screening
    Full virus scan
Made startup programs and services minimal
Checked event viewer for anything peculiar - nothing came up, besides a driver related to my asus motherboard - AMDA00 Interface. I have since disabled it, as its not needed. Still no difference.
Reinstalled windows 8.1. Still the same.
When I boot in safe mode, I also get the "hanging" black screen, although it doesn't last as long.
    My specs:
CPU: Intel i5 4670K (Stock Speeds)
    Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP - 2x4GB @ 1866Mhz
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 770 4GB - CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU Cooler
    PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 750W
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Windowed (with Red AKASA Led Strips)
    Display: Benq GL2460HM 24" Monitor
Keyboard/Mouse: Basic sumvision keyboard and tecknet mouse - both USB. No other peripherals connected.
Any help is appreciated and feel free to ask for any more info.
    Thanks

  • Change the already installed Win 8.1 BIOS mode from Legacy to UEFI

    Hey,
It seems that my Windows 8.1 is installed in BIOS mode: Legacy as "msinfo32.exe" shows. I can boot into it with no issue, but when I go to my laptop's BIOS settings and change the mode back to UEFI, it gives me an error "Operating system not
found" (not sure about the exact error message).
I am just wondering if it is possible to change the Windows 8.1 BIOS mode to UEFI so when I change the laptop's BIOS settings back to UEFI, it can boot into it?
    Regards.

    Hi Amin CiscoSoft,
Since UEFI mode need an EFI system partition (ESP) which has the partition type ef00, usually contains a FAT32 file system. We need to recreate the partitions needed for booting the installation media in UEFI mode.
Before you doing that we VERY recommended for you to read all contents including Prerequisites and warring paragraph in links below, then perform a backup of your data. If you have a second disk drive big enough, you can simply create a system image and
able to recover the full installation as it was before you started this procedure if anything goes wrong.
Since the steps are complicated, please follow the steps in

    2600+ barton 1.65v
    512 kingsten DDR (400mhz) ValueRam 2.6v
    ASUS V9280 (GF4 Ti4200 agp x8)
    Big ThemalTake (copper)heatsink and fan
450watt Power...........cant remember the spec's but i know its over the recomended for the cpu
    Thank's
    Smoker

Your 2600 should be a 333mhz FSB.That means you can not set the FSB higher then 166mhz.I run a 3000+ on the same board and set FSB to 166X12.5 to get a 3000+
If your processor has a ... FSB then the system clock speed should be:
66MHz (Various Celeron and older): 66MHz clock
    100MHz (Pentium II / Pentium III / K6): 100MHz clock
    133MHz (Pentium II / Pentium III / K6): 133MHz clock
200MHz (Athlon, Duron, Thunderbird): 100MHz clock
    266MHz (Thunderbird, XP): 133MHz clock
    333MHz (XP): 166MHz clock
    400MHz (Pentium 4): 100MHz clock
    400MHz (AMD XP): 200MHz clock
    533MHz (Pentium 4): 133MHz clock
    800MHz (Pentium 4): 200MHz clock
If you do not know the multiplier for your processor simply take the proper system clock speed for it and divide that into the rated processor speed and then round the dividend to the nearest .5. Examples: The Pentium4 3.06GHz processor has a FSB of 533MHz. Its system clock is 533 / 4 = ~133. The multiplier is 3,060 / 133 = ~23.
    The AMD Athlon XP2700+ has a main clock speed of 2.17GHz and a FSB of 333MHz. Its system clock is 333 / 2 = ~166MHz. The multiplier is 2,170 / 166 = ~13
I tried to overclock above the 166 only to have to clear CMOS.If I had a 400FSB,then I could use the 200mhz clock.
I also have to run my Kingston PC3200 at 333mhz or I will get BSOD after a few min.Seems since the FSB on the processor is 333mhz,it only makes sense to run the memory at the same speed to me.Although it will run at 400mhz with either of the single sticks of ram(and yes they are matched 512meg sticks)and I can not figure out why.I even tried to bump the voltage all the way to 2.75 only to get the same results.I now just run it a 333 and 2.6v and have not had 1 problem since.

  • How to Install Windows 7 Home Premium (32bit) with No legacy option in BIOS setting. Just UEFI. in Acer Aspire E1-410 ?

I just broke my older Acer Aspire 4752G.
I just backup entire Partition my Windows 7 Home Premium (32bit) with Acronis True Image Home 2014 BootCD Premium.
intend to restore in this brand new Acer Aspire E1-410.
Acer Aspire E1-410 don't have Legacy Option only UEFI
Acronis True Image Home 2014 BootCD Premium fully support EUFI but alas my Original Windows don't boot
So I intend to use repair BootRec command prompt
These CD Windows won't detect in these Acer
So I call Acer Technical Support They said :
there is NO OTHER WAY to change this UEFI to LEGACY MODE (Build-in Bios mode CANNOT change other than UEFI)
you must install via DVD who FULLY SUPPORT UEFI -> Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 (ONLY in x64bit mode).
I hope you can resolve these for me.
    Thank you.

It is possible to install Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit from DVD to a UEFI based hardware, but must be done using an answer file. It may or may not work if you are using a recovery DVD. Either way, the OS is not supported on that hardware.
Windows 8 32bit is supported on UEFI hardware.
The problem with Win7 32bit on UEFI is a problem in the bootloader. The OS cannot boot because the bootloader cannot find the OS. I had suspected it may be possible to get the OS to boot by using BCDBoot, but since it isn't supported I have not put in any
effort to determine the method of doing it.
