Request a platform swap

Hi,
I couldn't find which section should I post my question. So, I found this section is the most appropriate.
I have Adobe Illustrator CS5 Windows Student edition. I want to change my product to Mac OS and I have checked the article "Request a platform or language swap." However, there is one thing that I want to know before I swap my product. When I order an Adobe product platform swap, will I need to register the swapped product "Adobe Illustrator CS5 Mac"? If so, this means that I'll be able to register the Mac verison in another name that is different from my Adobe product Windows version. Am I correct?
Thanks

Yes Muyy, even though they are both "Illustrator CS5," they are two separate independent products with different serial numbers, so you should be able to register them with different software names.

You can only swap current versions. you wil lhave to upgrade to CS6 at least and make the switch:

No, CS2 does not qualify for a platform swap.  Only the most recent version (CS6) qualifies.

  • Denied platform swap

I'm attempting to complete a platform swap but I'm not sure where to go at this point.
When I initially purchased CS6, I just mistakenly chose the wrong platform. I immediately contacted Adobe and they provided me with the correct platform for a Mac. The Windows version was never received and never installed due to the fact I didn't even have a Windows based PC. Now, I have a PC and attempted to do a swap but they denied it as I've already used up my one available swap but I was under the impression it was initially a return/product exchange.
When I look at my product history, it does show a Windows SN which is the original revoked number and on the same day a Mac SN. It is painfully obvious that I never even used the Windows version. The 24/7 chat is "closed" and  I can't find a telephone number that takes me to a human and I'm incredibly frustrated. I want to use my legitimate copy of Adobe but it's becoming increasingly more frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Platform swap? Deactivated product on old platform, now what???

I had an open case that was "automatically closed" I was told to simply deactivate my product on my old platform, I did... and now, I simply don't know what else to do? Did my case have to be open? I am so lost. Someone, please help. Trying to platform swap from Windows to Mac...

The details for a swap are here:
Order product | Platform, language swap
It's only for Photoshop CS6 or if you have CS5, you can cross upgrade for $200.
A windows serial number won't work on a Mac, so the swap would include a Mac serial number.
If the case was closed they should have issued a Mac s/n. If they did, you have to speak to the contact in the Help doc.
Since I am a customer like yourself, I have no authority to do this.

  • Cross Platform Swap/upgrade CS5

I have had the Windows version of Photoshop CS5 for about 3 years. Tomorrow I am getting my first Mac (woo!).  I was just told via an auto-reply email from Adobe that my case was closed because I have to upgrade to CS6 first (on my almost retired PC??) before I can request a "swap" for the Mac version. How do I upgrade online (the server from the "updates" option from the "help" drop-down menu on my software is "not responding"), and how much will this cost? More importantly, will I definitely be able to swap platforms after paying for the upgrade on a computer I am about to no longer use??

There's no need to upgrade to CS6 Win then swap to CS6 Mac. That's outdated info. I'm surprised that Adobe are still advising people to do that. Hasn't been necessary since CS6 was launched.

How to Switch Platforms from PC to Mac (or Vice Versa)
"Good news! It’s simpler now with CS6, you can easily change platforms when upgrading as normal – just select the correct operating system when purchasing the upgrade. Then when you install that upgrade software on your new platform, it will ask for the serial number of your previous version from the other platform.  For example, if you currently own Photoshop CS5 on Windows and want to get Photoshop CS6 on Mac, then just buy the CS6 upgrade for Mac OS, and manually enter the serial number for your older Windows version when installing it."

    Click Buy

    I own: Photoshop CS5
    Platform: Mac

  • Install After Platform Swap Photoshop Elements 12 & Premiere Elements 12

I've been emailed links to allow me to download Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 after swapping platforms.  When I download the installation file to my mac it runs but when it comes to the 'sign in' screen, once I click on the sign in button it just looks like its attempting to sign in.  It sits for hours though and doesn't move on any further.  I have tried several times but to no avail.  Am I missing something?

    Screenshots below
Sits on last screen for hours without moving forward through the installation process.

Around how long is the expected wait time? Also, I think I'm using the most up-to-date bios, but if I'm not can the mod be put on updated bios (if this one isn't updated). That will knock out two problems at once.
    Thanks in advance!

    People swap them mechanical easily,
however risk to broke them exist,
especially if you never done it before or have no clue what you are doing.
So best call your friend or someone else who swapped them mechanical before.
In all cases, that's done at own risk.

  • PS platform swap

I am running PS CS4 (Wiindows) and just purchased an iMac.  What are my options to swap platforms?
    Thanks

Oh no! Adobe has changed their upgrade policy to ONLY the immediate previous version. You can now only upgrade from CS5 (regardless if swapping platforms or not)
Thanks for pointing that out Erica. I knew the policy was going to change in January, but I though Adobe was still going to allow an upgrade from two versions back.
Herding us users to the cloud, I assume.
A cloud license, btw (unless this changed too) allows for non-simultaneous use on two computers, which can be different platforms. So with a cloud license you can use Photoshop on your work PC and on your home Mac.

  • CS6 PS: Platform swap from Win to mac..??

Searching this "forum" points only to kb405819 -- which is obsolete as the fine folks here seem to have partially updated their website.
Where the heck to I get the "online form" to request a 'crossgrade'??  (Arggh.)
Specifically, this bit is now non working:
Under Get Support, click Orders & Returns.
From the Choose Issue Type menu, choose Product Exchange or Swap.
    Click Proceed to Online Form.
In the Submit a Request page, follow the onscreen instructions.
    Click Review Case & Submit.
You can expect a response within one to two business days.
    Many thanks!!

Adobe customer "service", or what passes for service:
Click on the link below, and after that click on "Still need Help? Contact us."
Then on the next page, click Chat.

  • Having an upgrade timing and eventual platform swapping problem

I currently have CS4 Standard Design Creative Suite installed on my laptop only (PC) which I need to upgrade to CS6 before December 31.  However, I will be buying an iMac before next spring on which I need to have the new CS6 upgrade installed (for Mac, obviously).
This is causing me a headache because I don't want to pay for an upgrade just now on my PC in order to keep my upgrading priviledge and having to pay again for a new full version when I get my iMac, especially in view of the fact that the standard license technically allows me to install the software on my laptop and my desktop, provided that I don't use them at the same time.
I searched the web quite a lot, and came upon the post below in a forum.  Can you tell me whether this is possible or not, because it would be the ideal solution for me!
"Upgrade to CS6 on your PC and then apply for a platform switch OK from Adobe which can take 2 days or 2 weeks - it all depends and their process changes everytime I try it.
While waiting for the CS6 for the Mac you can continue to use CS6 on the PC. After you make the switch you can continue to use CS5 on the PC as it is a legal license but you need to agree to stop using CS6 on the PC (and sign a statement to that effect) when you make the switch to the Mac."
Or, can I simply by the upgrade now, with the swap for Mac option, but wait until I get my new Mac to install it, all the while leaving my old CS4 working on my laptop?
Thank you for any help you can provide!

Well, if this is so, it sucks big time!
It would mean that a user does not have his choice of computers on which to install the software he pays lots of $$$ for, and if he is using two different platforms, he gets less for his money than the customer who has both computers on the same platform.  I am being penalized because I don't have the budget to change my laptop to a MacBook at the same time as I buy a new iMac AND upgrade my creative suite!
Money making scam, if I may say so, because Ligtroom will work on both platforms as most of Adobe's unexpensive software, why not CS6?  The reason is simple in my mind: CS6 is 10 times the price of Lightrom so there are big bucks to make from forcing users to buy a full license for each platform...
Sorry, I had to vent a little bit here...

  • Custom BIOS request: GT60-20C - swap Fn and Windows key

Hi.  Just got myself a brand new GT60-20C, and the lack of a left Windows key is driving me nuts.  Sounds like you can mod a BIOS that would swap the left Fn and right Windows keys.  If you can do that, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    System details:
    Mainboard: MS-16F4
    Mainboard version: REV:0.C
    BIOS version: E16F4IMS.506
    BIOS date: 05/22/2013
Please let me know if there's anything else you need to do this.
    Thanks!
