Have you contacted AppleCare?
The subject of your topic has been discussed quite a bit in these forums. The user-user solutions have been edited out of some of the discussions, ostensibly because sharing copyrighted materials, such as a useable MBA special Build of OS X 10.7 Build 11A2063, is prohibited. Many have found that this particular build is not available for download from Apple, via the Internet Recovery or the Apple Store. I would think that it is due to change at any time, and perhaps has been done already. AppleCare should be able to provide that information sooner than anyone here.

  • Video Output for Musical on new Macbook Air

Doing first production of a musical.
I'm thinking of buying Logic Pro 9 to control the output of recorded audio and video for the show (as well as to compose a few extra pieces).
The features page on the Apple site says: Logic can let you view synchronized QuickTime movies on a separate monitor using output options like Digital Cinema Desktop.
    http://www.apple.com/logicpro/top-features/
The Tech Specs page on the Apple site says: External video output via FireWire or DVCPRO HD.

I've bought a brand spanking new Macbook Air which has a Thunderbolt and two USB ports.
Would I be able to use Logic on my Macbook Air to output my video?  (I was thinking I would do it to a projector either through WiFi or a (yellow) composite cable.)
(The alternative I was thinking of was to use MuseScore to enter the notation for the extra pieces.  Garageband for the audio output (it's missing a few instruments [e.g. clarinet, xylophone]) and plain old Quicktime for the video output.
    Thanks!

  • Recovery from back up of newer MacBook Air

I have a relatively new MacBook Air and an older MacBook. The hard drive of the latter was broken, I got a new one and in order to install it from the backup from my new air, I need to get the newest operating system. Do I need to buy mountain lion again? If not, what can I do? Please help, thanks!

    I use the 4-3-1 version
More is better, but 3-2-1 is a good minimum.  Heck ANY backup is better than nothing.  And Time Machine is easy to use, so it is good that Apple includes it with Mac OS X.
I have systems that have more backup, I have systems with less, but all the systems have backup.  My Mom's iMac is 3-2-1.  SuperDuper backup to local USB disk.  CrashPlan over the internet to my house (300 miles away) where I have the off-site copy.  My Macbook Pro is CrashPlan to the same Mac my Mom is backing up to, and networked Carbon Copy Cloner to my work iMac (I generally make a bootable clone before any major upgrade, such as going from Lion to Mavericks).  My Wife's Macs are CrashPlan'ed to the same Mac my Mom and my Macbook Pro CrashPlan backup to (a Mac mini in a closet).
Whatever works for your environment, and the realities of the people using the systems.

  • How do I download Windows 7 64 bit drivers for my new MacBook Air (Mid 2011) from a Windows 7 PC?

How do I download Windows 7 64 bit drivers for my new MacBook Air (Mid 2011)? I have already formated the HD and preformed a clean install of Windows 7. Perhaps I did this too early. I have read I need to install the drivers from my OS X DVD, however, OS X Lion does not come on a DVD! I've also read that I can download OS X Lion from the App Store and burn it to a DVD, however, all I have are Windows PCs which don't support the Mac App Store.
Is there no way for me to download these drivers from a Windows PC?  I know they exist.  However, you are supposed to download them through Boot Camp in OS X when you are creating a new Windows 7 installation.  I'm I stuck?

I am pretty disappointed in the lack of documentation.
This is the Apple Support page for Boot Camp:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
No mention anywhere of Lion, of 4.0/4.01
In the past, 10.6.6+ was suppose to - and sometimes did - provide for a download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant program, in order to save them to flash or such (that should be about 1GB, too large for CD). Some macs req'd a USB-DVD or other driver that was needed pre-install of Winidows
You don't install Apple drivers until after Windows is installed otherwise,
It is possible for me, with a tower, to run w/o needing any drivers from Apple. But with laptops, mini, you do need some drivers from Apple for graphics, internet, wireless, SMC support.
And right now, loading any Apple support Tech Note articles is very very slow.
People keep asking why Apple can't post 3.0 or 4.0 like they do the updates. Only logic is to force t he download from inside OS X or from an OS X DVD. Otherwise would be here, and avoid all the trouble. they aren't of use on a PC, and any PC motherboard vendor does post their support software for download.

  • My new macbook air 10.7.3 is running hot with the fan blowing just by using the internet. Is there something wrong with the computer?

My new macbook air is 10.7.3 s running hot, with the fan blowing after about one hour on the internet. It will also run very hot with the fan blowing when it is closed and in sleep mode, is this normal? My macbook pro did not do this.

    May 19, 2012
My Macbook Pro 15" Early 2008 model had been running hot for a long time.
    Checked Activity Monitor.  (Applications/Utilities)
AdobeResourceSynchronizer was taking 83% of CPU usage.
Did a google search and found information regarding AdobeResourceSynchronizer causing high CPU usage and heat.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/822790
Problem seems to be Adobe Resource Synchronizer.app
To disable go to: System Preferences > Accounts
Click the Padlock icon, enter password if needed, click Login Items,
    uncheck AdobeResourceSynchronizer
I don't know how this got install on this computer.
I suspect Adobe Reader. AdobeResourceSynchronizer.app is within the Adobe Reader application package.
Control Click (or right click) the Adobe Reader app, click Show Package Contents
    Location: Applications/Adobe Reader.app/Contents/Support/AdobeResourceSynchronizer.app
Some other Adobe applications may also cause this to run.
After disabling this in System Preferences > Accounts, temperature seems to be acceptable.
Also start Adobe Reader X, go to Preferences, Tracker and in the "Automatically Check for New Comments and Form Data", slide the top slider all the way to the right so is says Never.
After having done all this and restarted the computer, check Activity Monitor again and see if
AdobeResourceSynchronizer is still running. If it is you can click on it so it is highlighted and click the Quit button in the upper left.
This solved my excess heat problem.

  • Is anyone having trouble with internet on the new macbook air and an old modem?

Is anyone having trouble with internet on the new macbook air using an old modem?
I live in NYC and have an old modem/router and keep getting kicked off the internet. I have time warner as my internet provider.

    Hello there adell723,
I suggest taking a look at this article we have named Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues in OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628?viewlocale=en_US.
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference. If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.
If you have Mac OS X 10.8.4 Mountain Lion installed then I would recommend using Wireless Diagnostics tool which is on your computer already.
Here is the article for it and how to use it to assist with wifi connectivity issues.

  • Should I install the Kaspersky Internet Security Software included with the purchase of a new MacBook Air, OS X.

Should I install the Kaspersky Internet Software included free with the purchase of a new MacBook Air OS X?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You mustn't. Apart from the fact that OS X doesn't need an antivirus (OS X has got its own security systems), commercial antiviruses like Kaspersky can do more harm than something good for your Mac. See > http://www.reedcorner.net/mmg
If you want to install an antivirus, install Sophos or ClamXav

  • Internet slow on my brand new macbook air

Hi my internet is very slow (almost unresponsive) when loading pages on my brand new macbook air.
The internet in my house is working fine.  I can still stream movies on other devices with no problems.
Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you
    -Sarah

Have to say comparing this thread to many others that it isn't just the internet and wireless connection.  I'm just about ready to throw my new Macbook in the garbage as this has been an ongoing issue since I bought it.  And it's not the connectioon as anyone else coming in to our home is able to connect easily, Google TV runs just fine, the only device with issues is the MacBook.  The hours I waste waiting for pages to load or trying to reconnect are numerous.  Very dissappointed.
While this thread had a happy outcome, most of the others are like my situation where the problem doesn't get resolved.  If the standard PCs and windows can work fine why doesn't a Mac.  I feel duped and dumped twice as much money into a device that doesn't work as good as the less expensives laptops with Windows.

  • Can I trade my MacBook Air for a new MacBook Air that just came out?

I was wondering that I bought the MacBook Air in November of 2010 and I would like to get the new MacBook Air can I just do a trade from Best Buy or Apply?

Well... you can return your Air as part of Apple's recycle program and get an Apple Gift Card for it's value.  Unfortunately, they (well, a company that does this sort of thing) sets the "value" which is nothing close to what you would be able to get on your own:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/computer/
I don't think anyone intended to insult you.  You sort of implied in your original post that you should be able to exchange something that you purchased 8 months ago.  In fairness, I'm aware of very few places that offer a return policy that liberal.  When you clarified that you could pay up front to be guaranteed a certain percentage of the original value over time... that certainly made more sense (although Apple does not offer the exact thing... but only what I had posted the link to above).
Having said all that... when I purchased my Air, it was only about a month or so before the new ones came out.  I knew that the new ones were coming out.  I was actually concerned about the loss of the dedicated GPU and the fairly significant drop in GPU performance with the integrated Intel processor.  Granted, the new processors are about twice as powerful... that's significant.  But, I don't really do anything processor intensive on my machine.  So doubling the power for me was a non-issue.  I do just want the OS to run smoothly and fluidly and the nVidia GPU in the machine that you (and I) have does a great job.  So not only did I know that new Airs were coming out, I bought mine because I didn't want the newer model.  Of course the new Airs have Thunderbolt as well... but I'm not expecting that to take off for a while yet (and USB 2.0 has worked fine for me for years).  If you do processor intensive stuff, you could have good reason for wanting the newly released Air (although in getting the last model, I would expect you did't have heavy duty processing needs).  I personally am happy I have the previous model and the release of the new model does not devalue mine in the least.

  • Why can't I connect to my shared computers for file sharing;I have 3 Macs and I can connect the other 2 but not my new Macbook air.

I have a black Macbook 4,1 running 10.7.5, an iMac 11,3 running 10.7.5 and a new Macbook Air 6,2 running 10.9.5., I have file sharing turned on on all machines. All machines are visible and I can connect all machines except for the Macbook Air. The Macbook air can see the other 2 Macs but does not connect to either of them or even give me the option to connect as a guest or a registered user. The other Macs connect to the Macbook Air but it will not connect with them. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

  • New MacBook Air SuperDrive for G4 PowerBook

My G4 PowerBook is still going strong except the original SuperDrive died a few months ago. While watching the MacWorld 2008 Keynote, I see that there is now an External MacBook Air SuperDrive option available for the new MacBook Air for $99. Does anyone know if this external Superdrive will work with the G4 PowerBooks?
    Thanks.

Hi, DLaid, and welcome to Apple Discussions. You could replace your internal Superdrive yourself for $50-S75 USD (depending on what drive you chose) and an hour of your time. See the link in my post above. Buying an external optical drive to use with a portable computer would be silly, but if you wanted to do it anyway, there are dozens to choose from besides Apple's. As I explained above, a USB-only drive is totally inappropriate for use with a Tibook, even if it would work. Get a FireWire-capable drive if you buy an external.
Be aware also that when you post in these forums, you aren't talking to Apple; you're just talking to other Mac users like yourself. The people at Apple who need to hear your concerns don't monitor these boards. This is explained in the "Help & Terms of Use" link that appears in the right sidebar of every Discussions page. Your second-paragraph gripes would be more usefully addressed directly to Apple through the appropriate Product Feedback channels:

  • Will the new MacBook Air be able to handle what I need it for?

I'm about to buy my first ever Mac, exciting right?
Anywho, I was set on getting a MacBook (or possibly pro) then the new MacBook Air came out, after looking at it and doing a bit of research it seems to be a fantastic computer but I'm not sure if it can handle what I'll be using it for.
On a general day to day basis, I use these programs:
    - a Web Browser (surfing the web and watching online video mostly)
    - iTunes
    - Scrivener (Writing Software)
    - Skype
    - AIM
    - Microsoft Office
On about a weekly+ basis, I'll be using these programs:
    - iMovie
    - Adobe Flash CS5 Professional
    - Adobe Photoshop CS5
    - Other Adobe programs?
Other little tidbits that may be helpful:
    - I'm a college student (And though I don't write a lot of essays, stupid technical classes, I will next year because...)
    - I'll most likely major in Graphic Design, English or both.
    - I spend a lot of time on the computer.
    - I'm not a gamer, outside of the occasional online game
    - I'm not planning on keeping too much on the computer. (Only programs and whatever project(s) I'm currently working on. Everything else will be kept in an external hard drive or Dropbox. Too keep away clutter and because having so many PC's crash on me has made me paranoid.)
I like the new MacBook Air because it's small and light and has the perfect amount of battery to fit my needs (I hardly ever keep my computer away from a plug for more than 7 hours) Also I really never use my CD drive on my laptop, in fact I think I only used it twice this past year. So really my only concern is that I'll buy it and end up discovering that it doesn't fit my needs, hence this post.
Beyond this I only have three questions:
1.) How much memory should I have? (I do want some wiggle room)
2.) Does a mini jack mean I have to buy special headphones or an adapter?
3.) Does the Facetime Camera = Web Cam? Can I use it for the same purposes? (ex. taking photos/videos, video chat through Skype, etc.)
And the main question: Would the New MacBook Air work for me? If not, which Mac should I get instead? (I'm getting a 13" laptop across the board)
And I probably posted way too much information about my computer life, but if there is anything I learned from taking technical classes its that the more information I can give the better suited computer you can advice me to get.
So thanks to anyone who responds!

    witsallbeendonebefore wrote:
The extra 2GB would make any computer run faster. Could you maybe explain more?
Absolutely. The 13" MBA (baseline configuration) at $1299 weighs in at $100 more than the 13" MBP, upgrade the MBA to 4GB and it's now $200 more. So you're paying more money for comparable or "slightly" better performance.
There's been a lot of performance benchmarks released over the past 4 days since I made my initial remark. Not to mention in that time I've had the opportunity to use a 13" MBA with 2GB & 4GB of RAM, although I had more time with the 2GB model. Some observations:
1.) What happens when you need to install something that's only available via CD or DVD? Part two of that question, what happens if you don't have access to a computer with an optical drive to share over to the MBA?
2.) What if you require FireWire connectivity or need to troubleshoot your computer via TDM?
3.) How do you manage 128GB?
4.) How do you run a presentation from the machine with an IR-base remote?
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of the MBA, I was one of the first in line to buy one when the first generation came out and I made the 2nd generation MBA my "go to" mobile computer for well over a year. I've been very pleased with currently MBA, but it's not a jack of all trades and while it may be faster than my 13" MBP there are still scenarios that require features the MBP has 'standard' that the MBA does not offer or requires more $$ to implement.
My initial comment about "sluggish" performance was in respect to LightRoom3, Starcraft II, World of Warcraft and Adobe Photoshop CS5. I'll absolutely agree that equalizing the RAM would definitely help to level the playing field but thus far in my testing with the 13" MBA @ 4GB versus the 13" MBP @ 4GB there's still some noticeable difference in favor of the MBP.
