Request for Flex 4.5 (Hero) info

Hey there -
So... what's up with Flex 4.5?  I only saw references to it in the bug database and somehow came across this link:
http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+Hero
Even google seems to be failing me... So here are my questions:
Is there a public site identifying the goals/features/changes for this milestone?
Is there a target date for its release?
Do the 4.5 nightly builds have much/any/important content that can't be found in 4.1?
Thanks.

hi,
Flex hero is the next version of the flex SDK, and Burrito is the next full release version of Flashbuilder. Although you can get builds of 4.5 it is likely to cause issues with the current flashbuilder as it progresses in its development(similar to problems that occurred when using flex builder 3 and the flex 4.0 sdk). Whilst flashbuilder 4 and flex 4.1 sdk is still in active development I doubt that there will be much detailed information available on 'future' products.
This is an interview with Andrew Shorten (Flashbuilder Production Manager) he breifly mentions the path of flashbuilder and flex.

Have you gone through the process of accepting the iLife apps into your iTunes/Mac App Store account before updating the apps?

I did not reply at all. Now and then, these bogus messages show up in Mail with the purpose of gaining access to accounts. I hope everyone will avoid this and all other spam.
Yeah, these emails have been around for many years. The old rule applies. If a company you deal with wats information, they will firstly address you by name and secondly tell you to go to the appropriate website, sign in and apply the information there. Never follow a link they give. Never reply to the email. Never bounce the email. Trash the email. They are very easy to spot.

  • Upgrade Harddisk for FLEX 15

    Hi,
I presently have a 120 GB SSD drive in my FLEX 15.
I need to increase the capacity to at least 500 GB.
    Can I get advise on
What drives either SSD or non SSD are compatible?
Recommended drives for the FLEX 15 with at least a 500 GB capacity?
Is this something that I can swap out myself?
    Thanks

Good day and welcome to the community.
Looking at the hardware maintenance manual:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_flex14flex15_hmm.pdf it's not clear whether the CPU is soldered to the mainboard, but for machines where the CPU is socketed, there are instructions for removal and reinstallation. Since there are no instructions listed in this manual, I would think it's not upgradeable short of swapping in a new mainboard.
If I'm mistaken, hopefully a member with direct experience will be able to contribute more info.
    Regards.

Can anybody please help me with my problem. Am I going wrong with configuring SSL?

    I did add these lines:
    <Connector
         protocol="org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol"
         port="8443" maxThreads="200"

to the web.xml contained in conf folder of tomcat.
    But didn't fiddle with server.xml -
    After un-commenting
    <Connector port="8443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true"
    maxThreads="150" scheme="https" secure="true"
    clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS" />
in server.xml contained in conf folder I get the following exceptions

  • Top 10 feature requests for reliability

As per the Terms of Use:
Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Feedback about new feature requests or product enhancements are welcome too.
    My top 10 list:
    1) Require enough extra safe guards that users can't accidentally rename their Home folder.
    2) Don't let the Finder become unresponsive and beach-balled when dot-mac mounting is occurring.
    3) Faster Finder list view updating when sorted by last modified.
    4) OS update scripts should perform a hard disk verify before installation. If hard disk does not verify, the user should be told of the risk of proceeding and given directions on how to fix before proceeding.
    5) The filesystem should should be able to fix itself with fsck (ala AppleJack) without being booted from install CD/DVD.
    6) iPhoto Library folder should have an extra layer of protection to keep users from messing with it via the Finder.
    7) Forced shutdown via power key should give OS and filesystem more of a chance for recovery. (Not sure how this would work, but if users are doing this, it should not be so often fatal.)
    8) System maintenance scripts should have a method for running (other than cron) for those who don't leave their computer on 24/7.
    9) & 10) coming soon ...
What are your feature requests for improved reliability?

    5) The filesystem should should be able to fix itself with fsck (ala AppleJack) without being booted from install CD/DVD.
David Pogue explains why this can't be done in his Mac OS X: The Missing Manual He basically says that running fsck without an operating system disc is much akin to "a doctor performing an appendectomy on himself." While a method of doing this is provided, naturally fsck itself is not analyzed because it can't do that. To run fsck without an operating system disc, boot into single user mode, holding command-S at startup. Type /sbin/fsck -fy
    followed by return key,
    when done type:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
followed by return key and when done with that type
    exit. This is documented here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Thankfully single user mode provides more safeguards. But they aren't perfect. Fixing the directory is something that should only be done if your data is backed up, and it is obvious you may have a damaged directory. A damaged directory may have the symptoms of a dying hard drive, and it is impossible to tell the difference.
Apple is readying a really good backup system in Time Machine in Leopard. You can read more about it here:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/timemachine.html
Your best protection for what you are looking for is to learn how to backup your data, as my FAQ* explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html

  • Request for Reverse Posting

    Hi,
Request for Reverse Posting - can anyone explain me this in detail with example.
    Regards,RAMU.

    Hi Ramu,
In an Infocube we can delete data in three ways,
    1) Entire Data deletion
    2) Selective data deletion
    3) Deletion based on request ID.
After compression of Infocube, request ids become zero and data gets aggregated and moves from F fact table to E fact table, so we can delete data only in two ways
    1) Entire Data deletion
    2) Selective data deletion.
But if it is required  to delete data in Infocube after compression based on Request Id, we can go for Reverse Posting. We can reverse post the data only when we process the data through PSA.
If u  reverse post the data for a compressed request, the data for the compressed request is taken from PSA multiplying with
-1 for the key figure values and loaded into the data target. Now the data in the data target  is available in F table with negative key figure values. By Compression of Info Cube, data moves from F table to E table and nullifies the data in Infocube for the request ID.
Note: Since records with zero key fig values are of no use, to delete these records while compression check mark  zero elimination option in collapse tab.
    Hope It helps u
    Cheers....

A belated thanks for your reply.
Our environment doesn't have NPS accounting configured so that was easy to rule out.
The mid-day drop outs have stopped after I added "set protocols dot1x authenticator no-mac-table-binding" to our Juniper switches (which prevents mac address aging from clearing the active dot1x client session).
I believe the above error message occurs because the RADIUS session ID is rejected / ignored because of some quirks in the RADIUS standard.  At the start of a dot1x authentication request a RADIUS session ID is created.  For whatever reason the
RADIUS/NAP server stops responding and the Juniper switch fails over to the backup RADIUS/NAP server configured.  The session ID is kept (per RADIUS standard) but the backup RADIUS/NAP server doesn't know about the session, so this event: "Network
Policy Server discarded the request for a user." occurs.
It would be nice to see a clearer error message "Invalid RADIUS session" or similar.
There is a Microsoft guide on how to set up RADIUS/NAP servers in a highly available configuration - something to do with RADIUS proxy servers.
It would be even nicer to see some kind of RADIUS session synchronisation between NAP servers... if it doesn't already exist?
I am having the same exact issue you posted on here except I have Extreme Network switches. Some of my computers, various hardware, will randomly not authenticate during re-authentication. The switch says that it failed to contact the NPS server so then it
switches to my backup server. The client has a random time on how long it waits to authenticate so sometimes I end up having the disable/re-enable the port they are connected to so that the session is started again. I see that you basically removed the option
to force clients to re-authenticate Any downfall disabling that?. Any idea why the NPS server is no longer responding? Are you using Windows Server 2012?

  • Legitimate request for a free upgrade to Windows 7

I am new to this forum and am incensed by the attitude of Toshiba customer support staff towards my legitimate request for a free upgrade to windows 7, below is an email I have written to them which I would appreciate your comments on:
    To whom it may concern.
I am writing to express my displeasure with your response to my legitimate request for a free upgrade to Windows 7 seeing that I have recently spent over 1000 of one of your products.
After having multiple issues with the Vista operating system, I phoned your customer support on the 4th of December and had a conversation with a male employee who was unable to satisfy me as to why my machine was not entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 7 as mentioned on your web site.
He offered to pass me up to a supervisor which I accepted and was connected to a female member of staff who tried to explain that my model was not included in the "promotion". I could see no sense in her explanation, in context to the facts that my machine was of the same age and family as those been offered the "promotion"
This employee was again unable to answer or understand my question and said she was not technically minded so I asked her to put me through to her supervisor and after 10 minutes holding on the line I got to speak to Alistair Cook.
Mr Cook explained the "promotion" to me but could not explain why my model was excluded so he said he would call me back when he found out why. This he did some short time after and reiterated his earlier account with no further clarity. He said he would do more research on the matter and email me the findings.
This contacting your customer support office took a total of 48 minutes on the phone.
Vista is to all intents a failure, a fact you accept by your offer of free upgrades to your recent customers, so why discriminate against some consumers and not others.
I am a long time user of Toshiba computers, this Qosmio is my third laptop and I have always been satisfied with the customer support, not that it was greatly needed. So I again ask that you do the right thing and provide me with my principled entitlement.
    Yours sincerely.

    Hi mate
    Very interesting point of view.
But fact is that not all Toshiba notebooks are verified for a Win 7 upgrade.
    Why???
Well I have checked the Toshiba European page
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Windows Upgrade 7
and there I could find a FAQ list.
One of the FAQ provides this info:
_What requirements do I need to satisfy to take part in the Upgrade Program?_
+To take part in the Upgrade Program, you must satisfy the following three criteria:+
+1. You purchased your Toshiba computer between 26th June 2009 and 31st January 2010.+
+2. Your Toshiba computer is one of the model series to be verified on the Toshiba page.+
+3. Along with your Toshiba computer you purchased a Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, or Windows Vista Ultimate operating system.+
It looks like several criteria must be satisfied in order to participate in Win 7 upgrade program.

  • Configuring socket policy for flex apps(with blocked port 843)?

We have built several flex-based ecommerce apps for a fortune 500 customer of ours, that for various reasons, we need to use sockets to a different domain and requires a socket policy file, but were having trouble configuring our flex apps for deployment in thier enviornment where they are blocking virtually everything except port 80 . The current documentation in in regards to socket policy files and crossdomain files in a non-standard configuration not using port 843 is not providing any useful help to us.
    Here is the scenario:
Flex apps are served from domain www.a.com in  to users browsers via http. The apps then make socket connections to domain www.b.com:80 where there are php scripts serving json data to the flex apps via port 80 using http(we use sockets because we need to set and read back http headers). The problem is the flex apps cannot make socket connections to the www.b.com domain without errors like below(unless we setup a socket policy server on port 843 of www.b.com, in which case everything works):
Warning: Timeout on xmlsocket://www.b.com:80 (at 3 seconds) while waiting for socket policy file.  This should not cause any problems, but see http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files for an explanation.
Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://www.b.com:80 by requestor from http://www.a.com/bin-debug/DownloadManagerFlex.swf is denied due to lack of policy file permissions.
Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://www.b.com:80 by requestor from http://www.a.com.us/bin-debug/DownloadManagerFlex.swf is denied due to lack of policy file permissions.
Since we cannot use port  843 for the socket policy file server, we setup the socket policy server on a different ip in the same domain: spf.b.com:80 (using the sample perl code Adobe provides), and per the docs(cited below), use Security.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://spf.b.com:80") before we invoke "socket.connect", to supposedly tell the flash player to check there for the socket policy file. The problem, as you can see from the error log, is that the  loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://spf.b.com:80") is ignored.
No matter what we do or how we set things up, we cannot get the flash player to recognize the loadPolicyFile(), it always wants to go to the port were making the socket connection on. It is unclear how to properly configure the flex app, socket policy file and crossdomain file for the above scenario. The docs allude to being able to serve  the socket policy file from a different port 80 in the same domain as the socket connection were trying to make, but were having no luck with that.
->Can anyone shed some light on how to make this work or what are we  missing/doing wrong? Also, if we can get this to work, are we  stuck with a 3 second delay because this(very large) customer is blocking port 843?
As an aside,  the documentation for all this is a bit scattered, unclear and contrdictory:
    One document says:(http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security_07.html)
"This warning usually means one of two things: first, that you need to set up a
socket policy file server on port 843, which is the first location that Flash
Player checks by default; or second, that you need to provide more explicit
guidance to Flash Player from ActionScript by calling loadPolicyFile to indicate the location
of a socket policy file. When you call loadPolicyFile rather than allowing Flash Player to check
locations by default, Flash Player will wait as long as necessary for a
response from a socket policy file server, rather than timing out after 3
                seconds."
    Another document says(http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/socket_policy_files.html):
"If an ActionScript Security.loadPolicyFile() command exists within               the SWF file, then the Flash Player runtime checks that location. Flash Player checks               the destination of the loadPolicyFile() only after it has checked the               master policy file on port 843 for permission to acknowledge other policy               files. If the developer has not specified a loadPolicyFile() command,               then Flash Player checks the destination port of the connection."

I found the reason why the Flex application was ignoring the socket policy (crossdomain.XML). I have a policy server that listens to port 843 and submits the policy to the Flex client. My policy was getting ignored by the Flex application and I was getting the sandbox security error you were getting. The solution to this problem isto write a null byte right after the policy server sends the policy. I'm using Apache Mina that is wrtten is Java and the null byte is written as follows:
    public void sessionCreated (IoSession session)
            throws Exception
            session.write(_policy);  -- > policy string
            session.write("\u0000"); --> null byte
//session.close(true); ---> No need to close the session because it is closed by the Flex client after it receives the null byte.
Now my Flex application can read and accept the policy from port 843 and I'm not getting more security violations.
    Thanks for your reply,

    Hello Team,<br /><br />Can you please help in the following issue:<br />I am trying to preserve white space(leading and trailing  L&T) as is on the User Interface.  We have built our UI using Flex 3.0 SDK. <br /><br />From Java side, I am able to carry the value with L&T spaces till the call goes to Flex .mxml and here response object assigning as  <br /><br /> var metaConfig:XML = event.result as XML;<br />But here L&T spaces are not visible along with value of ID.<br />I used to see it by using Alert.show(event.result.toString());<br /> <br />Flex Output is as:<br /><br />       <allScalarMetadataFields><br />      <id>TEST</id><br />      <name>test name</name> <br />.<br /><br />But from java[in Servlet/in service] side I can see the output as:<br /><br />   <allScalarMetadataFields><br />       <id>   TEST  </id><br />       <name>   test name    </name><br />.<br /><br />Java(Servlet) code is as follows:<br />      OutputStream writer = response.getOutputStream();<br />      OutputStreamWriter outputStreamWriter = new OutputStreamWriter(writer,"UTF-8");<br />JAXBContext context = JAXBContext.newInstance(object.getClass(), object.getClass());<br />         Marshaller m = context.createMarshaller();<br />         m.marshal(object, writer);<br />.Here marshal follow a standard structure for XML to map  it into writer same as what Flex XML follows.....<br /><br />Note, there is no any other issue/fault  with Flex and java except this white spaces.<br /> <br />Flex .mxml code is as:<br /><br />protected var _fieldXml:XML;<br />      public function MetadataFieldWrapper(xml:XML = null)<br />            {<br />                  if (xml == null)<br />                  {<br />       xml = <allScalarMetadataFields xml:space="preserve"><br />               <id /><br />                <name /><br /><br />...<br /><br /> Servlet is getting called as :<br /><br />            _webService = new HTTPService();<br />                  _webService.url = serviceUrl;<br />                  _webService.method = "POST";<br />                  _webService.resultFormat = "e4x";<br />                  _webService.contentType = "application/xml";<br /><br />.<br />_webService.headers = { "serviceName":serviceName, "serviceMethod":serviceMethod };<br />                  _webService.send(param);<br /><br />I want to preserve the L&T spaces along with ID/name .<br />Please help me how to allow these L& T spaces in Flex XML object?<br /><br /> <br />Thanks in Advance.<br />Regards,<br />Venu.

In the future this type of question should be asked on flexcoders as<br />it doesn't relate to the development of the Flex SDK.<br /><br />To preserve whitespace look at the documentation for XML.ignoreWhitespace.<br /><br />-- Daniel R. <[email protected]> [http://danielr.neophi.com/]<br /><br />On Wed, Nov 12, 2008 at 8:19 AM, venubwal <[email protected]> wrote:<br />> A new discussion was started by venubwal in<br />><br />> Developers --<br />>   Requesting for your kind help...(want to preserve Leading & trailing<br />> spaces)<br />><br />> Hello Team,<br />><br />> Can you please help in the following issue:<br />> I am trying to preserve white space(leading and trailing  L&T) as is on the<br />> User Interface. • Basic Soap requests in Flex (without WSDL)

    Hi,
I have just started to use Flex, so everything is really new
    to me.
I am meant to write a Flex application that requests data
from a Java SOAP service which is currently written by a colleague.
We do not have a WSDL specification (yet), as the content
format is not yet agreed on and might be extended frequently (Also,
the Service will only ever be used by my flex app)
Unfortunately I could only find SOAP tutorials for Flex that
    use WSDL.
It would be great if anyone could give me some ideas on how
to get started on using SOAP within Flex without the WSDL part.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Yes I think your app will perform better using remote objects, there's
a great app to test that named Census you can get it and do your own
tests or play with it on James Ward's blog.
    Sincerely,
    Michael

generated with Axis 1.3 using the same WSDL. The problems occurs
when the server sends a 290Kb response to the Client. Flex spends 10
seconds (obtained from mx.rpc.* log facility) in deserialing this
    SOAP message. My question is:

  • Getting a 502 Bad Gateway when trying to run a POST request for application on Lync UCWA on VPN

I am getting a 502 Bad Gateway when trying to run a POST request for application info on Lync UCWA ("Policy prevents request from being proxied."). When I do a request without SSL, I get a 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
Is this becouse I am on VPN and not on the internal network? There are some policy on VPN or the IIS internal that denies me access?
I have not tried it internal yet. Anyone else with this experience?

Did you figure out your issue? I'm having a similar issue. Even thought I'm able to successfully sign-in to the Lync Server and obtain a Bearer token, I'm not getting any response from the server when sending a POST request to the application URI (https://<pool_fqdn>/ucwa/oauth/v1/applications).
Wondering if it's a policy issue and if so, why user policy affects this access?
    thanks.
