Request for USB and/or CF card reader

As a serious photographer, I would like to see USB ports added to the iPad. The size is perfect for traveling; I'd love to replace the laptop with an iPad. My camera uses Compact Flash cards, so at the least, if adding USB ports is not part of the plan, having a CF card reader for the iPad will be essential for some of us.
My ideal: a way to charge AND download images at the same time. Some days I take quite a few images.

I agree with you, but I doubt that Apple will add much of what we like.
However, you can attach a compact flash reader via the camera connection kit USB dongle and the photo app will import from a CF card in the reader.
When attached to a computer the imported photos on the iPad will appear as an import source in photo app. like Lightroom, Bridge, Aperture etc.
I have successfully imported from my Nikon d3 & d200 compact flash to the iPad and then imported them into Lightroom and Bridge when the iPad was connected.
It handles raw, and raw+jpg and preserves them at full resolution
What's missing in my mind is:
Simple ability to manipulate/collect/organize the images.
Rename
Add Metadata
Backup to external drive(s).
Beyond that I'm willing to wait until I get back to a computer.
When in the filed with my MacBook I:
Upload the images, delete obvious duds, rename them and add metadata.
Then back up to 2 external drives.
Put CF cards back in Camera and format and start shooting again.

Security: Read-only for USB and FireWire

Is there a way to secure the external data ports on a Mac so you can't write to a USB and/or FireWire drive? Obviously we need the SATA / InternalHD to be regular read/write. I've swapped out the optical drive so it is a read-only device, but it would be nice to have a solution that prevents writing to optical media as well.

I can't find the page(s) that reference these PDFs, so you have to download them directly.
Within the two documents are information about "removing support for mass storage devices" by trashing certain files (IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext for USB and IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext for FireWire).
One caveat seems to be that these files may be restored through system updates, so you need to write a login script (script provided in Leopard PDF) to ensure they are removed or simply be aware of the issue when installing system updates.

Does Java Card require a USB CCID-compliant smart card reader?

Does Java Card require a USB CCID-compliant smart card reader? I'm currently working with PC/SC usb token and it requires usb CCID-compliant smart card reader, which seems very inconvenient for my clients and I'm wondering if Java Card has the same issue? (I'm thinking about switching the project to Java Card)

Hi,
You will still need to install drivers for some card readers to function correctly. I know some work out of the box on Windows and OS X (10.5+ at least) ships with the pcsclite CCID driver from the Muscle card project. When I view my reader in Windows device manager the Manufacturer is "USB CCID Compliant".
The only real difference between what you are doing with the USB CCID token and Java Card is that the card and reader are separate in the Java Card option where as the USB token has the reader and chip in one package.

I want to enable password request for restart and shutdown and want to know if I'm mistaken, because trial and error might become to time-consuming while working on a project.

If I try to run $ shutdown -hP 28 or $ shutdown -c nothings happens, I need to run $ sudo shutdown -hP 28 and $ sudo shutdown -c and type a password. That's the way I want it.
If I e.g. run $ shutdown -r now no password is needed. I want to disable this. It should behave the same way as shutdown -hP/-c behave. I want to type
$ sudo shutdown -r now or $ sudo systemctl reboot etc. and then the password should be required.
$ sudo grep -vn "#" /etc/sudoers | grep [[:blank:]]
72:root ALL=(ALL) ALL
73:rocketmouse ALL=(ALL) ALL
The user "rocketmouse" should have all permissions after typing a password, but not without typing the password.

I have a really hard time understanding that requirement.... in none of our projects has this come up so far. What's the reasoning behind that?
I mean, if you do that, a can't request for a, and b can't request for b, but a can request for b, and b for a, right?
So, the only reasoning behind that would be some kind of SoD separation between requester and user (which serves no real purpose, does it??).
If you want to limit the people that can request at all to a certain group, set authetication source to UME and give only those users a UME account.
Or, if you want SoD, set "approve/reject own request" to "no" in end user personalization, so the approver can not be the same persoin as the requester.
If none of these suit you, maybe you can explain in a bit more detail what you're trying to achieve.

Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended has a feature to enable measurements and comments in a file when that file is then subsequently opened in Reader.
It is in Acrobat Pro Extended under Comments -> Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader
My question is, if I convert large batches of files to PDF, how can I enable measurements and comments for Adobe Reader without opening each file and selecting that option from Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended?

Try the Batch Process feature in Acrobat Pro Extended. You'll still have to do it after the files are converted, but it may keep you from having to set that feature one PDF at a time. Go to Advanced > Document Processing > Batch Processing...
This 'might' be able to do what you need.

Batch file enable for commenting and analysis in Adobe Reader

I have over 18000 GeoPDFs created and want to enable for commenting and analysis in Adobe Reader. Can anyone step me through how to set this up in Adobe LiveCycle?

To enable the Commenting in Adobe Reader you can either use Acrobat or LiveCycle Reader Extentions.
But, in Acrobat (even in Acrobat X) you cannot enable those Usage Rights via batch.
This means you will have to do this for each file separately.
Attention: The commenting will only be enabled for static forms (PDF-forms), not for dynamic forms (XFA-forms)!
Possible the LiveCycle Reader Extentions can do that, but this product is very, very expensive and I don't have it.

Please tell me which version you have use. 10g or 11g
if you are using OBIEE 11g then, New-> under Published Reporting -> Report.
if you have .rdf file then upload it and saved.
and simply create dashboard, drag and drop report into dashboard.

The Sonnet PCI USB Express cards have this problem too - for the record. Sonnet know about the MacPro not waking with it installed, as do Apple. I am sure Apple willl come up with something, I may even find a workaround, but it has always seemed that expansion cards with all my Macs [ waaaay too many] have produced unpredicatable problems.

I create a new message ZNEU and I link a new form.
I want the system creates automatically the message ZNEU when I save my request for quotation.
In transaction NACE, I specify the output type ZNEU
My Access sequence is 0001 DocType/PurchOrg/Vendor
I specify a procedure RMBEA1 Purchasing RFQ
Then I put in step 10 the condition type ZNEU and a requirement 101
I just copy the message NEU in ZNEU.
And in condition record ( tcode MN02) I create the output type with combinaison purchasing output determintation document type.
With all these datas I haven't anything when I save the RFQ?
I have the same problem with purchase order.
Anybody have an idea?

Hi,
For RFQ create outut condition using MN01 transaction give your output tpe ZNEU and choose the option doc type as AN and give your purchase group.give transmission medium 1 and time 4.In communication method give printer name and tick print immediately and save.Then while creating RFQ for that purchase group message will come automatically.
For PO create output condition using MN04 transaction and document type is EF.Repeat the same like RFQ.
Hope it will solve your issue.

Try downloading the following driver:
Name: Ricoh Multi Card Reader Driver for Windows Vista, XP
Version: 3.54.02
Date: 06 Mar 2008

The drivers will extract to a directory named "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\4IN1\", if I recall correctly. Once extracted, run Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), go to the entry where the unrecognized card reader is located, and perform an update, using the "Have Disk" option and pointing it to the directory in which the drivers were extracted.
I do not recall if a reboot is required, but in any case I would recommend doing one, at which point you should then be able to see the card reader from Windows 8.

Tun miniport adapters are not working and the camera card reader is not working on a T61P.

The Microsoft tun miniport adapters #4,2, and 3 are not working. They display code 10 error message. Also the USB mass storage device (camera card reader) is not working.
I have tried to uninstall and update the drivers to no avail. I have used ThinkVantage Tool Box. It only lets me know that they are not working. It does say to reinstall them. I have tried. All effort has failed.
All was find until I ran several updates via ThinkVantage.
All suggestions would be appreciated.

Restore best as new since you have issues ,then you will know if it has started to function correctly ,if not .....
Visit Apple store since if it isn't software probably iPhone is on it's way out

Problem:
Card Reader and FN-Keys are not working, where can i get drivers?
I installed Win 7 Pro on my Satellite A100-773 Notebook. All works fine and Win 7 has all drivers installed but the FN-Keys and the Card Reader are not working.
On the Support Homepage is no driver oder anything given for this Notebook with Win 7.
Can anyone help me with that?

by now i tried the toshiba value added package for serveral model for win 7 and vista, but before finishing the installation there is an error.
the card reader is now working with card reader criver for win vista.
Does no one know how to fix this?!

My X200-219 has recently been upgraded to Windows7 and although it is running well, (better than with Vista for now anyway), the card reader is not working.
Do I need a driver installed??
Looked at various but can't find anything obvious??
