REQUEST: Good ideas to make my band photo look PRO

Hi! I´m looking for help/instructions to make my band photo look more  pro/cool. Also it has some mistakes i would like to vanish:
1.  The sealing should be turned from white to black and still look as  natural as possible. Does this mean the singer´s hair will vanish?
2. The pockets I would like to be black, like this:
3. One version which has the first two and all the basic gizmos adjusted, contrast, black&white points etc.
4. Additional with colouring/effects, something like one in below or else you think may be suitable for this kind of photo.
IN CASE someone decides to do these by himself (I´m sure it  will take max 10min. for you true gurus ;), links for original pics are  below. The divine individual who mails me examples will have my infinite  respect! [email protected]

Here is a very quick (Mask with the mouse, as Wacom was not hooked up) treatment with the low-rez version.
In this case, there was a bit of distortion with the Free Transform to create a bit of perspective. I would definitely use a different background image, but did not have the big externals hooked up to the laptop, so just grabbed one, that contrasted a bit, and was not too busy. I could see using something like a graffitti-covered brick wall, thrown out of focus a bit, with a Blur. I have dozens of those, but not resident on the laptop. I also added an Outer Glow here, but something like Mystical Lighting (an optional plug-in), could prove useful. For that background, you can get as weird, as you wish.
One big consideration would be the feeling that you want to create, and that would probably be based on the music and its style. Say you do Mephis jazz, think about a brick wall from Beale St., maybe with a little bit of a neon sign, etc. So very many possibilities there.
I did not adjust the pockets here, especially with the low-rez image, but it would be a series of easy Masks, and probably a Hue Saturation Adjustment Layer.
Does this give you any ideas?
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - obviously, with your higher-rez image, the Masking would be so very much better. This was just for an example, was done in about 3 mins.and only to give you some things to think about. It took 10x as long to type the above, as the work that I did.

  • Is usng while(true) loop in run mthd of thread good idea 2 make it wait ind

    hi freinds.
    sorry for writing short forms in my subject, but what i want to know is that is is using while(true) loop in run method of thread good idea to make it wait indefinately.
    if not then what might be a good idea.
    I Just need to Start a thread and make it wait indefinitely,
    thanks

    No. "while (true) {}" is a horribly bad way to do
    nothing, as that thread will use 100% of the CPU.
    What does "wait indefinitely" mean? Surely it can't
    mean "wait forever", but if it doesn't mean that then
    I can't guess what it does mean. Do you want to wait
    until some condition is true? Or do you want to wait
    a random amount of time? More information would help.Hello Dr.Clap, read your comments then checked my task manager and found that indeed it occupies 100% of CPU usage. thats really horrible , even i dont want that . ok i will explain u what i am trying to do along with my program on how i have accomplished it . please correct me where i went wrong.
    My Requirement
    my Application is deployed on JBOSS which has its JMS. now lets say i have defined a Queue named "MyAppQueue" and i know that all the senders whereever they may be will post there messages on this queue.
    Now my responsibility is to write a MessageReceiver which is continously running and checking this queue for messages. whenever it receives a message it immidiately calls the messagesListener which processes the message.
    So sow my requirement of Writing such MessageReceiver is that , it should always be in running mode(that means once i start it, it starts forever since this is going to be a REal time application) and continously checking the queue, as soon as some message comes it calls messageListener. and also that this messageReceiver should be fast , i mean coz many messages may come at once say 40-50 messages in a minute.
    so please tell me how do i now write this MessageReceiver.

  • Is it a good idea to only save my photos on iCloud Drive instead of paying extra for phone storage?

    I'd rather not pay too much for extra storage space when I buy my phone and I am willing to pay 0.99 cents per month for iCloud Drive.

    Given all the issues people are having right now with iCloud Drive you would be better off waiting for iCloud photo library to be introduced later this year.  It's designed for allow you to keep your photos in iCloud without having to store them all on your phone.  Besides, you have to use iCloud Drive compatible apps to access documents and data on your iCloud Drive, and as far as I know, there aren't any such apps to access or store photos there from your iOS devices yet.

  • Tutorials: How to make a digital photo look like an oil painting in CS3

    Can anyone point me to a tutorial that shows how to do this? I have looked all over the internet - but can't seem to find a decent way to do this and achieve the effect I want! Thanks for any help

    I have been looking for something to create this same effect in Photoshop CS2. With all of the filters that are already available in Photoshop, I am surprised that there isn't a filter available to easily do this.
    The "snapart" plugin looks great, but I don't want to pay $149 to create this effect.

  • Is it a good idea to buy the mid 2014 macbook pro Retina, if the ssd isn't changible.

    I've been researching computer specifications lately, as I'm looking to buy a new laptop. And i've learned that hdd & ssd wear out over time. Am i right in saying that  they are the only thing that causes a computer to run slower overtime? whether its caused by wear, filling them up or other things.
    But if i can't change the ssd, will the laptop not be slow after 2.5-3 years, and then i will eventually be forced to buy a new laptop.
    I'm looking to use The macbook for music production, and everyday browsing.

    Thanks for the answers. I am a big fan of using Mac, but there are no other purchase options than the latest retina models. They have stopped selling all the previews models here in Denmark, and portability is important to me, so it has to be a laptop.
    I just called Apple support here in Denmark, and they said, if I find the ssd slow they will change it to a new ssd for an unknown price.

  • Create a banded agate look in Photoshop

    I need to create a banded agate (like the rock) for a print project. I will be working in Photoshop CS3. Has anyone ever made a similar type look? I am not sure even where to start.

       I know it's a little late to probably help the original poster but I'm posting what I used to make my banded agate look in photoshop. I started by downloading a photo from the web of a piece of banded agate with the colors I wanted in it. Once you have the photo open it in photoshop, you will only be using this photo for the colors to make your banded gradient tool which will simulate the banded agate. Open the gradient tool and make a new one, clicking on the gradient line will add more "crayon's" each crayon will allow you to assign a new color to it, add as many colors/bands as you feel necissary to make your banded agate look real. Now using it will require alot of starts and stops, as it will flow in 1 direction only until you change the gradient's angle. Hope this helps future knowledge seekers. For my example I went with Laguna banded agate as it has many more colors than most other agate geode's I found.

  • ATTENTION - PlayBook OS Enhancement Request - (REALLY Good Idea IMHO)

    Hey,
    I love my PlayBook! The device and OS are great foundations for an excellent tool.
    One of the innovative ideas is the use of the Bezel to execute special functions - bring up the keyboard, access the system menu, etc.  It is a GREAT Idea!
    I have never been a big fan of Touch (it's one of the reasons I returned my Torch which I loved - but that's another story).  One of MY big problems is scrolling.  Although I've adapted decently to this, I constantly find myself doing things I don't want to do when I'm scrolling because instead of scrolling, an item on the screen I'm trying to scroll gets activated instead of allowing me to "push" the screen up/down/left/right.  I can't believe I'm so inept that I'm the only person that suffers this problem.
    So here's the idea.  You've got that nice big bezel sitting there doing nothing while I'm trying to scroll and going off in all directions.  Why not allow me to scroll by swiping the bezel area?  Swipe up or down the left or right side of the bezel (or swipe left or right on the top or bottom bezel) and this would scroll the contents of the screen with no possibility of accidentally "setting off" some other "tap" link on the screen.
    I have no idea if this is an original idea, but I would LOVE to have the ability to do this!  Likewise, zooming in and out could be controlled by pinching or stretching the bezel areas - again preventing accidentally activating any items on the screen - and the side benefit of the stretch/shrink being confined to either horizontal or vertical.  BTW - I've already checked and these actions don't do anything right now, so there's no conflict with existing gestures as far as I can tell.
    So what do you think?  Am I just a total spaz, or is this a good idea?
    Jerry

    I think the cursor control that I have on my iPhone is really great and would be perfect on the Playbook..  If you aren't familiar with how the iPhone works, when you place your finger on the screen and hold it there a couple of seconds then a magnifing glass pops up above your finger and shows you where your cursors is and as you move your finger the magnifinge glass moves with it and shows the position of the cursor moving also in the magnified view.  Butthat is one way to do it.. works well.

  • Any ideas on how to download photos from a Canon EOS Rebel XT?

    I just "upgraded" (?!) to OSX Lion, and now the Canon EOS Utilities app does not work. I contacted Canon and they said that they were working on an update, but didn't know when it might be available --they "answered" my request for information by providing no information.  So, any good ideas on how to download mh photos?

    Try Image Capture program in apps directory.  You can import straight to iPhoto.

  • Is using a taskbar icon in .exe combined with windows service a good idea as part of an alarm system?

    My client wants an alert system and his focus is on the taskbar.  He wants the icon to change, (and ideally even blink) and also to have some beeping when a new work request comes in.  It needs to run constantly, and grab the attention of an operator
    who may not be paying much attention to the screen.
    I’m excited to develop this, but after years of web development, I feel paralyzed.  I must be making this harder than it needs to be, but here’s my plan…  I'll start with a windows form, which will run minimized, and have an icon that looks like
    a hammer in the taskbar.  A timer would continually check for a new service requests.  When it sees one it would change the toolbar icon to a red x and sent a few dozen beeps out to the operator.  I think I need a windows service running that
    checks periodically to see if my windows exe is running.  If not, it should start it up.  Perhaps this could be a scheduled task, rather than a service.
    Some of my questions are;
    How do I change the taskbar icon on the fly?
    Is this a good idea, or is there an easier way?
    Snippets of code or related articles are most welcome!
    Thanks!

    So I created a windows form and added a timer to check for unacknowledged requests.  If it finds any, it changes the icon on for the taskbar, and makes a beep.  Simple, but it works.  However, I'm having a beep of a time trying to figure out
    where to put the ico files so they are where they need when I publish it.  Others seem to suggest adding them using the properties of the application, under application / resources / Icon and manigest blah blah blah.  But I can only seem to add one
    there.  I need the three different ones.  I'm confused!  Any suggestions?
            private bool iconBig = true;
            private Icon redcross = new Icon("..\\NewRequest.ico");
            private Icon redcross2 = new Icon("..\\NewRequest2.ico");
            private Icon hammer = new Icon("..\\Hammer.ico");
     private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e)
                List<WorkRequest> myWorkRequests = WorkRequestData.WorkRequest_unAcknowledged();
                if (myWorkRequests.Count > 0)
                    for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++)
                        SystemSounds.Beep.Play();
                        if (iconBig == true)
                            iconBig = false;
                            this.Icon = redcross;
                            this.Refresh();
                        else
                            iconBig = true;
                            this.Icon = redcross2;
                            this.Refresh();
                else
                    this.Icon = hammer;
                    this.Refresh();

  • Roaming (ethernet connected base station) and wireless extended network at the same time. Good idea?

    I have a Time Capsule (6th gen.) which is my main base station. I also have a number of airport extremes around the house. I only use them in the client mode, i.e. they just join the network so that I can stream audio to devices connected to them.
    As I had bad reception in the garden, I installed my old dual-band airport extreme (4th gen) in the garden shed. All Apple articles I read on the topic convinced me that roaming (ethernet connected base station) is much better than wireless extending because you don't lose throughput. As I had no ethernet in the shed, I used two powerline adapters to bring ethernet there and I connected my airport extreme.
    Then I had to re-install all the airport expresses (as I had also changed the name of the network) and I noticed that the default option of the Airport utility is to make them extend the network wirelessly instead of just joining to it. I did not do it, but I am wondering. Is it a good idea? As they are in different rooms than the Time Capsule, of course the network there is not as strong as close to the Time Capsule. I still get "good enough" connection, but I will I have an improvement if I allow every Airport Express to extend the network as well? Or will I have problems with the throughput. My idea is not to do it and keep the net as simple as possible, i.e just extend it with roaming in the garden where I really need it and let the airport expresses in client mode.

    As usual AirPort Utility is trying to be clever. It is proposing what Apple thinks most people will want to do with it, and most of the time it succeeds.
    Having the Expresses "wirelessly extend" the Time Capsule's wireless network will increase your wireless network service area and should not introduce new problems. If that is not what you want to do though, you can certainly return to AirPort Utility and select "join a wireless network". It is a simpler configuration, and simpler is better for home wireless networks.
    Wireless > Network Mode > Join a wireless network.

  • How can I make a photo look like it's on a 3D Box Canvas?

    Hi,
    I have been scratching my head trying to figure out a way to make a photo look like it's wrapped around a wooden frame, like on a box canvas. I'm not concerned with the canvas texture, I just want to know how I can apply an effect or an action to a single image to give it depth. Any ideas?
    Ross

    the one i posted was a psd file using a smart object. Double click the smart object it then opens a new file, you add the photo you need, as you from the example that image is wide screen, my photo wasn't, so you use the 2nd file to make the photo fit how you want, then save and it then alters the original file, hence smart object. The background too was one, hence the perspective.
    The splicing etc is ok , as you say if you have an odd one to do.
    So essentially you make up the smart object once and then reuse. As you woudl need to make the canvas / canvas's into several templates for your liking, be it square / portrait / landscape or even spread over several canvases
    The example i showed here is an illusion, but a pretty good one, It NOT 3d. Its done with shadows, this is the smart object.
    as you see its just a perspective rectangle with the top and bottom left cropped off for the depth.
    these are the psd layers as you see there are only 5, its not an action, but googling i did see an action, i think it was $35. But as i said bear in mind the amount of possible boaard canvases you may want.
    2 of the other layers as you see are for the lighting and the top one is the 3d illusion effect, this particular one has the canvas effect too. I can't remember where i got this one from. I think graphic river do 3d canvas though, there will be others.
    Another thing to consider if using an action is if it can do multiple boards. like ...
    again just to show you before the illusion
    Pretty much example like the emboss effect you can use, all done with lighting and darkness.

    there will be other avenues if you google

  • Why does it take so long for microsoft to incorporate good ideas into programs, but then after they do no one elses software will work on the system?

    Case in point: I can not use Xp any longer since it is not supported by microsoft, and latest lan driver requires xp service packs which are no longer available for XP or Vista. So my old software as of April 2014 is now worthless as internet access software(microsoft
    will not provide support or service packs for xp). So I get a new pc with WIN7 op system installed and try to do traditional backups to protect myself should my system crash in the future. (usually this means cloning a hard drive or installing Faronics Deep
    Freeze to protect my op system in case of catastrophic failure.) I try to install and use some of these utility software types including Acronis Disk Director 12, Avanquest Perfect Image, Partition Commander 10, and others True Image Hdd utility for cloning
    hdds. Most of these I try to run turn out to be useless, and I get pop-up messages saying my software is incompatible with win 7 op sys! I am wondering if it is the software or the fact the op system is 64bit (not 32 bit) which means that if you buy any other
    software to help with utilities it will be worthless because most are written for 32 bit systems not 64. No one tells you these warning signs when you buy the pc with the 64 bit software already installed. But for a Toshiba 15" computer that normally
    costs 400$ and I can get it at Goodwill used computer store(1stStreet and Fairview in Santa Ana, Ca.) for 175$ I can not complain. Being an unemployed electronic technician, I have to stretch my dollars as far as they will go...Another frustrating thing is
    I buy this device made by Apricorn Driveware that allows users to hookup a second hdd using a usb cable and a three connector module that will allow the user to connect any hard drive sata or ide or the 3rd type. I try to run it and make a backup copy of internal
    hdd but I get error messages saying it can not copy hdds when there are minor differences such as total mbs on each drive or slightly different hardware issues such as my pc has 580 gb internal drive and replacement backup drive is 380gb. Such as shame because
    hardware setup is a good idea but without compatible software it is useless! Perhaps if I was using it on my old xp op systems I would have fewer problems with software compatibility issues. I really hate the fact that MS does not provide support for known
    good op systems like xp say 20yrs? When the products and markets change so fast they run the risk of alienating customers who can not financially keep up with technology changes especially during an economic depression such as the one we are in now( they predict
    it will last 20 yrs). a curious thing about the Acronis disk director 12 software I installed. It seemed I could not get partion size on hdd to change no matter what I did. I found out that if I CHANGED THE DATA BLOCK SIZE ON THE NTFS PARTITION FROM 4 KB TO
    2 KB THAT I WAS NO LONGER LIMITED BY THE SOFTWARE FROM SHRINKING THE HDD PARTITION FROM 300GB DOWN TO 100GB. Once this item was changed on the hard drives the Disk Director 12 software (Acronis) was able to shrink the partition size to what I wanted.

    Due to phenomenal development in Windows, Microsoft released 4 generations of operating systems, succeeding Windows XP. Hence, on various aspects, Windows XP becomes too old to be used practically these days. So the support was pulled out.
    I do agree that Windows XP is the most successful operating system ever, so far. But, later versions added more features, enhanced security and compatibility. Moreover, at this point, Windows XP becomes more vulnerable, although security patches are made.
    Ultimately, we need to move to a more secure, feature-rich and highly compatible operating system.
    With improved features in newer versions of Windows, the NTFS filesystem has also been improved, adding new features. Hence, certain feaures that are not availble in Windows XP are available in Windows 7, again, in Windows 8.1. So is the disk management
    features.
    As for Acronis Disk Director, it's a third party software and hence we can't comment on the features/its working.

  • Is buying in the US a good idea?

    Hello,
    I currently live in the Netherlands, a small country next to Germany. In about 2 years I will go to college and will need a laptop. As I'm going to an industrial designers Academy I am going to need a laptop with quite some graphic capabilities. Apple intermediately invaded my mind with their super laptops, the mac book pro in particular. Now my question is if it's a good idea to buy the mac book pro 15" in the US? From what I've heard I won't have any repair warranty for in the Netherlands. But is this a big issue? I don't know if the mac book pro brings a lot of issues with it because it will be my first apple computer. I only have experience with apple through my ipod touch 1st gen. Whenever I had problems with that I just went to the internet and found an answer there to my problem.
    It is a big difference if I buy it in the Netherlands or in the US because the price differs from the dutch price 2100 euro's (3108 dollars) for the mac book pro 2.8 GHz and in the US 2300 dollars (1554.05 euro's).
    That differs 808 dollars or 545.95 euro's.
    So does the mac book pro have some problems and are these easily fixable by yourself with a little internet help?
    So what will it be?
    buying in the Netherlands with a higher price but a active warranty. so with lower risk of a unsolvable problem?
    or buying in the US with a much lower price but a chance on unsolvable problems?
    please help me and give arguments.
    thank you.

    Hi and welcome to both these forums and when you arrive to the United States. Your question concerning the warranty should be addressed to Apple Support just to make sure, but I would agree that wherever you purchase your Macintosh the warranty should be world wide. Considering the price difference I'd recommend the US. I suspect the difference in price has more to do with EuroUnion VATs than anything else. We don't have VATs here in the states, though you'll have to pay any local sales taxes (I know, the difference escapes me). Though once you're here buying online often avoids even that tax. In the US taxation is largely voluntary (ok ok, think about it). That means if you order online from a company in California and have the item delivered in, say, Indiana the California company will inform you that you have to pay Indiana sales tax on the item, but will not collect it at the time of sale. The burden of paying the tax is upon you, voluntarily submitting the tax to the Indiana Dept of Revenue. While some states are really trying to tighten this up it is still very common practice to simply not pay the local sales tax as no one is tracking this information. This sort of thing relates to the unique relationship between the Federal government and those of the individual, nearly sovereign, states.
    Now as for the MBP I contend you cannot buy a more solid, reliable, fast laptop, period. Firstly, Apple is the number one computer company in consumer satisfaction. AppleCare is worth it. I've had several experiences personally and with friends and family with Apple's warranty fulfillment and it is totally awesome. The MBP itself is state of the art, sleek, and the best industrial design out there (OK Sony comes close, but no one else does). The OS is virus free and very easy to use. You can run Mac OS X, Linux, Unix, and Windows of any flavor, so if you absolutely have to use some vertical market Windows based program it's easy as pie to launch bootcamp or other VM OS and you're in windows.
    I got my first Mac back in '86 and haven't even considered another OS (I did have a PowerComputing clone for a while and frankly even then Apple was better built). The average PC lasts about 2.5 yrs. The average Macintosh about 4.5 years, more than enough to get you through college.
    Keep hitting these forums as you'll find a wealth of information and thousands of helpful hands.
    Again, Welcome!
