Well, asking for a vbios it wasn't obvious that you are trying with Afterburner and didn't know even how to enable voltage control. You could have found out by reading sticky topics too:
>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<

Overvolting with the overvolting slider will work the same way what means what you set will be added to the stock voltage. Note that overvolting gpu on Kepler (GTX600) is limited on non unlocked cards (Lightning/Hawk) to the nvidia max of 1.175v and setting anything else will therefor be useless.
If overvolting is greyed out and can't be changed you have to activate it in "Settings"/"General".
Simply check "Unlock voltage control" and "Unlock voltage monitoring"

  • MSI R7970 Lightning BE Flickering

I've been having some problems with screen flickering and the only way to fix this problem was to set the amount of idle clocks of the *GPU and Memory to the Max.
    *MSI R7970 Lightning BE
    *Bios 015.022.000.001.000000
    *GPU Core Clock 1150 (always)
    *GPU Memory Clock 1500 (always)
    *Voltage 1.256
    *Temperature 50°C Idle 77°C Load
    *Fan Speed 50%
    *Catalyst 13.2 Beta 5
Can I have some problem in the future with this change?
And I ask, is there any other way to fix this problem without having to change the clocks, maybe with some new Catalyst or GPU Bios?
Several people are having this same problem with this video card, this solution can help us, but I hope it can be fixed without any change in the clocks...

    RafaelSct01:
YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH,  i have the same everything you have as a video card.
i hope were not stuck and the new bios or Driver from Amd, and it will Fix it now.
......Please God let there be a FIX for our 7970BE and all 7970s

  • MSI R7970 Lightning BE // Underperforming

I recently bought an MSI R7970 Lightning BE for my new pc which is an Intel 3770k on a z77 Asus Sabertooth motherboard.. I'm using a 750watt power supply on a single 12v rail.. This card does high FPS but where it is failing me is mouse movement. If you walk back/fowards/left/right the gfx card is a champ, but if you're moving forward while moving the mouse everything stutters. I've tried MSI's drivers as well as newer non-msi drivers and they all pretty much yield the same result.. The major issue I have is the same issue persists on the lowest graphics settings 800x600 with all effects off or the highest graphics settings... What sort of stuff should I be looking for to rectify an issue like this?  This is truly driving me mad having just spent $500 dollars on a video card, I am pretty sure this video card should be destroying graphics.

I've tried 5 different mice... razer naga(wired), old school dell usb mouse with ball(wired), logitech(wireless), wireless microsoft mouse 5000(wireless) x2. I have a logitech g600 coming in the mail in a few days and i've tried different keyboards.
I've tried the msi driver disc that came with the product, also the newest msi drivers posted online the msi website as well as different versions of catalyst v12 and different versions of catalyst versions 13: 13.1, 13.2 and 13.3. Some perform better than others but none perform optimally as they should. VSync helps with screen tearing but not the sort of issue i'm seeing.. I've tried LN1 bios switch and LN2 bios switch which dont yield much of a difference.. I will upload several videos with FRAPS if you would like.. It seems to capture the problem the best. I'm using a NZXT HALE82N 750 watt power supply and i've done mannnnnny fresh os installs and bios tweaks.. even switched mobos from sabertooth z77 to a p8z77 pro and back to a different z77 sabertooth board.. tried hz limiters and fps syncing software(dxtory, radeon pro, msi afterburner, ccc, trixxx, iTurbo). I dont think this card should perform this way with stock settings for mobo/proc/gpu.. Nobody would go through the hell i'm going through to get video games to play on this card. ;/ After 3 weeks of trying various options i've started trying benchmarking software like unigine heaven, kombustor, 3d mark 11, performance test and even furmark.. I can see the same issue in heaven/3dmark11 and as well as furmark. in furmark with the fan set nominal @ 100% the card goes to 98 degrees celcius in 20 seconds(is this normal?).. Games I see issues in is new Tombraider, Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim(this card should destroy) and BF3(this card is known to destroy). the issue doesn't exist if walking forwards, backwards or strafing left or right... it only shows up when walking forwards or backwards while strafing left or right while panning the camera with the mouse.. same issue on lowest graphical settings @ 800x600 or highest graphical settings in 1920x1080.

    oki, reflash to attached one.
flash it by booting from USB key, then execute:
    atiflash -f -p 0 xxxx.BIN [ENTER]
where xxxx.BIN will be your vbios file

  • MSI R7970 Lightning BE - OVERHEATING PROBLEM !!

Hi my name is Nick and I am from Greece and new in this forum . I recently bought an MSI Radeon 7970 Lightning BE from a reseller from ebay , the product came to me after 3 weeks and then I started testing, note that this card is used in a crossfire configuration , the second card is an ASUS HD 7970 DC2T , so I opened Furmark and I so that after 3 minutes that the Msi 7970 lightning was about 94 degress  and the Asus hd 7970 was 74 degress and stable , I ran several tests because as I read on the Internet MSI doesn't recognise Furmark as a Benchmark Program , I used 3DMark 11 ,3DMark Vantage with no luck , always  the MSI was overheating.
Then I read in this foum a guy with a similar problem with mine , and what he did was to reapply thermal paste and the problem was gone. I saw this and bought the best thermal best that I could found (GELID GC EXTREME) and today I reapplied it , unfortunately nothing changed , I ran 3DMark 11 ,furmark , Crysis 3 and now it showed me artifacts (MSI Video Card at stock clocks).
I don't know what to do I know that the warranty is no use anymore as I opened and remove the cooler but what else could I do .
    My PC Specs :
CPU : Intel Core i7 2700K (Overclockred at 4,4 Ghz)
    Motherboard : Gigabyte GA -Z68X - UD7 -B3
    RAM : 32 GB ( 2 x 8 GB G.Skill ARES @ 1600 Mhz)
    Case : Coolermaster HAF X (with 7 case fans - 3 Noctuas)
SSD : Intel 520 Series SSD 240 Gb
    HDD : 2 x WD Caviar Black 2 TB
Sound Card : ASUS xonar Essence ST
    CPU Cooler : Noctua NH-D14
    VGA CARD 1 : MSI R7970 Lightning BE ( Stock Clocks : Core : 1150 Mhz , Memory : 1500 Mhz)
    VGA CARD 2 : ASUS HD 7970 DC2T (Overclocked to reach the MSI , Core : 1125 Mhz , Memory : 1500 Mhz)
PSU : Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875 Watt (80+ Bronze)
Please someone help me I don't know what to do , please note that I have installed all the latest drivers (AMD Catalyst 13.4) and everything as fa as software I think is fine.

Case solved  , I putted the ASUS 7970 DC2T in the top PCI Express x16_1  and the MSI R7970 Lightning BE at the bottom PCI Exprees x8_2  , I lost some perfromance (about 3 -5 fps) because of the bandwith , but now when I play crysis 3 the temperatures have a big improvement , the msi stays stable at 55 -58 degrees and the asus is 67 -70 degrees , about 10 degrees hotter (in a crossfire the top card heats more , thats true afterall) .
;-))To achieve this low temperature at msi 7970 I also set manual fan profile at msi afterburner at that's it ,also note that I have 2 noctuas 14 cm fans to blow fresh air in front of each card.

sorry if my english very bad

You can use both. I'd prefer flashing in dos without Windows being able to interfere:
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (170_180.rar) and put the included file (TV278MH.170 or TV278MH.180) on that stick.
Rename TV278MH.170 / TV278MH.180 to 170.rom / 180.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 170.rom (or 180.rom) [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • Request MSI GX640 UEFI boot bios mod

Hello I was wondering if someone could help me re-enable the UEFI Boot option in the latest MSI GX640 bios version E1656IMS.10F
Also is it possible to add SSD support in AHCI mode as well, because currently I can not get an ssd to boot in that mode. It only works in IDE mode for some reason.
I would also like it to be fully unlocked.
    Thank you!

Alright cool. The reason I asked about the UEFI Boot feature is because it was enabled in the original BIOS, but they disabled the feature in a BIOS update because when the feature was enabled it would cause the system to hang when booting from a CD/DVD.
I bought this Dell AMD HD 7970m GPU for my GX640 and I found out that it is a UEFI card that doesn't have a legacy vBIOS, and after I installed it, my laptop would not post and I got a black screen. I was thinking that if I had that UEFI Boot feature back, then my computer would boot with the GPU installed in it. Please correct me if I am wrong, and please let me know if some sort of BIOS mod would make this GPU work in my GX640.

  • [Request] MSI R9 280 Gaming BIOS

I'm getting some artifacts and random freezes since installing this card.  Temps are relatively cool, I keep the fans at about 90%.  I've wiped and reinstalled the drivers properly and have disabled and uninstalled my APU graphics.  I have also disabled CPU parking.  My only question is that there are two power sockets on the card.  An 8 pin and 6 pin.  I have one rail coming from the PSU with both connectors on it and have them both plugged into the card.  Do I need to plug one rail into one socket and another rail into the other socket?  Thanks.
Also, is it ok to run "dual graphics" in the bios?  As in, enable and install the drivers for my A10 APU AND run this card at the same time?  I know they won't "cross-fire" but I'm just talking about enabling them both and using the card.

Thank you.  Yes it ran fine for 2 weeks with just the APU before I ordered the graphics card.  I talked to MSI tech support.  I will try a spare card I have and see what the results are.  If it points to the card I will RMA it I suppose.  I was surprised as to MSI's 3 year warranty.  That makes me confident the problem will be fixed one way or the other.
