Request: Option to Suppress Reminders During Slideshow Playback

Could we have an option to suppress calendar reminders when in slideshow playback mode? I was doing a presentation with the VGA out tail, and a calendar reminder popped-up. It dropped the video connection (good idea, thanks), and it put-up the reminder, and I had to restart the slideshow manually after clearing the reminder. It completely broke the flow of the presentation and my concentration. An option to suppress reminders while in playback would be great.

How can I get the info off the top of screen during slideshow playback on 7d

Subject says it all. I have a 7d and want to play slideshow through the camera up on screens without the info across the top. No the info buttin does not help. My older rebel does this no problem. YES I can shoot on 7d but playback through rebel but thats dumb. Help please.

I have had the same problem. I solved it by disconnecting the the cable and then using the info button to clear the info from the rear screen. When I re-conneccted, the TV screen was clear during slideshow.
There might be an easier way, but I haven't found it.

How do I stop notifications/reminders during video playback?

I need to use my iPad to show some videos at work. I am showing videos to large crowds in an auditorium. How do I prevent notifications/reminders from stopping the playback of my video?

Seems like there should be a global Notifications switch to turn all off temporarily when watching video or for other situations where you don't want to be interrupted. It is crazy/very unfriendly to have to individually adjust each notification item every time a non-interrupt situation arises.

Tinny-sounding music during slideshow playback on TV

I have created slide shows with special effects and music. The shows play back perfectly on my imac, laptop, and ipad. However, when I attempt to play the shows on my TV, some of the music sounds very tinny. What causes this, and how can I remedy the problem?

If you want the visualizer to play druing the music just trun it on... be sure to set the tv screen up as the screen to use for iTunes.

Plantronics Voyager 855 unable to lower volume during iPod playback

I wasn't sure if this should be in 3GS or music and video, so I figured I would pick one.
I have a 3GS 32gb running version 3.1. The problem I have is during iPod playback. My Voyager 855 locks the volume slider on the phone at half way. Using the volume control ON THE HEADSET, I can increase the volume and see the volume slider on the phone increase correspondingly up to the point that the music is very loud. But, when I try to turn the music down, again using the volume controls ON THE HEADSET, the slider on the phone will only go down to the halfway point. I can continue to click the volume down button ON THE HEADSET and the button will beep along with a split second decrease in volume but as soon as the button is released the volume has not changed-it remains at the halfway point. I have this problem with watching youtube videos, everything, EXCEPT for on the rainfall app that I have. I can increase/decrease the volume all the way up or down to the point that I can no longer hear the rain or until it is so loud it hurts my ears. This is very frustrating as I would really like to use this headset while reading and for sleeping, but the iPod function is just too loud. My friend has a 3G 8gb with the exact same headset and he does not have this problem. Is this a feature/limitation of the 3GS?

Yeah, ha ha, that is my post to Plantronics and their reply to me. I tried what you suggested and no go:
Un pairing, rebooting, and re pairing did not result in a fix. I still have the same problem. I tried it on my wifes phone-hers is running 3.1.3, and no-go, it had the same problem.
The volume slider works when the music is not outputed through the headset. When through the iPhone speaker, it works as it should-the volume is able to be adjusted up and down via the slider. Videos behave as they should, any program that needs to be adjusted via the volume slider or the rocker button on the side of the phone works as it should. To expand on what I stated eariler: while using the iPod function I can set the slider all the way to the left (volume 0), press the option for output and set it to the headset. When I do that, there is a split second where you can see the slider move from the left to the middle, and then the slider disappears. It's almost as though the headset is resetting the default/baseline sound level from 0 to 50 (if we are working on a 0-100 scale). I can increase the volume using the buttons on the headset, and I can lower the volume only to half way. If I then select the option for sound output and change it back to speaker, the slider reappears, and it is all the way to the left where I originally set it. This is very frustrating. I can understand Plantronics response. but they are wrong. I can control the loudness of music via the iPod application. I guess maybe this is just a hiccup I will have to deal with. I have placed a request to Apple that they fix this. Maybe in the next upgrade they will, or at least add an option where you can adjust it in the settings.

How to prevent resizing photos during slideshow?

I'd like to know if there is any possibility to see the photos in their exact size, when I run slideshow? I tried to switch on/of that "Scale photos to fill screen" option, but this just changes the rule which side of photo is resized to fill screen .
I'd like to see small photos rather in their exact size during slideshow than resized to fit width or height of the screen. If it is not possible in iPhoto 06, can I manage it in iMovie? I've never used that app but I've heard something about slideshows and iMovie or iDvd..

I'd like to prevent it altogether. Can this be done?Not really. You need to use the ComponentListener to handle the componenResized events. You can get multiple events by adding the following to you code. The problem is you get lots of flickering when you handle each event and resize the frame.

Slideshow playback has no music. Suggestions?

Running latest LR 1.3.1, on a MacBook Pro 15" Intel, with latest Leopard updates.
Lightroom Slideshow will play fully normal with transitions, etc., using both factory and custom user-adjusted settings. Looks great, except, there is no music.
I do have 'Soundtrack' checked, and have tried selecting 'Music', 'Library', etc., as well as specific 'playlists'. Still get nothing, no music.
FYI, I have noticed that when I click 'Refresh Playlist from iTunes' it is not refreshing the playlist, as in, it only shows existing older playlists. None of my more recently added playlists show up on refresh. It would seem to imply LR is not actually seeing iTunes.
Any thoughts?

OK, I guess this is one of those "you only need this information if . . ." type deals.
*The Problem: Lightroom won't recognize iTunes music for 'Slideshow' playback.
*Issue creating the problem: Multiple libraries for iTunes. (This assumes you know this is an option.)
*The Solution: Use the 'local' library only.
When at home (and my home office) I run my larger iTunes library located on an external 160 GB HD. Apparently, Lightroom has an issue with that.
I restarted iTunes, holding the 'Option'-Mac ('Control'-PC) and selected my local library located on my actual MacBook Pro HD. It's much smaller, but more importantly, it's located on the same drive as Lightroom. Lightroom sees it now, including 'Playlist' changes, etc. All is good now.

How to suppress logging during import operations

Each day, I am importing an entire schema from one database into another database (Oracle 9.2), that runs in archive log mode. This genererates a large number of archive logs, which I really dont need.
Do anyone know how to suppress logging during such an import.

I guess setting the nologging option on a table only has effect when using direct-path insert. However, the export files contain normal insert statements, which result in conventional inserts when working in non-parallel mode.

IPod 5G Freezes during Video Playback

iPod freezes during video playback. Does anybody else have this problem?
Usually freezes up about 10 minutes into a video, and then complety locks up. This usually requires 2 to 3 restarts untill it comes back working properly.

Mine does the same. It really only happens to me when I try to navigate thru menus when video is playing. I usually have to do a forced Reset. I truly think that introducing video on the iPod was not ready for primetime as it is very sluggish, buggy and sensitive during playbabck of video. No problems with music whatsoever but I am frustrated with the very finicky video qualities of this thing.

Ipod touch 1st generation stutters during music playback

My ipod touch running 2.2.1 (5H11) which has always had updates etc kept up, has recently started stuttering during song playback. I have reset a couple of times and it plays fine for one song and starts all over again. Any thoughts?

I am continuing to have problems with getting my ipod touch restored. I am following the directions on the faq's but it seems that my touch continues to freeze up during the restoring nprocess. Itunes continues to sync, but the ipod screen remains unchanged.

IPhone 4 rebooting during video playback

My new iPhone 4 is rebooting whenever I play a video. It can be a Youtube, a podcast or a video I recorded with the camera. Sometimes it does it a minute or so into the video, sometimes when the video ends. I am also getting artifacts on the screen during video playback. Any help? I have Genius Bar appointment this weekend to see if they have a solution.

Went to Genius Bar and it was a hardware issue. Brand new iPhone 4 in my pocket.

Can't save "Play music during slideshow" setting in iPhoto 6

I just bought and installed iPhoto 6 today as an upgrade to iPhoto 4. I've discovered that I'm unable to save the "Play music during slideshow" setting in the dialog which appears when I click the "Play" button from the thumbnail screen to play a slideshow. If I uncheck this checkbox and then click on the "Save Settings" button, the next time I play a slideshow, the music starts up again. The most particularly annoying thing about this problem is that I'm trying to create a slideshow that plays no music, and I have to continually uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" checkbox each time I play the slideshow. Has anyone else run into this problem, and is there a solution or workaround for it?

I think I've figured out what's going on here, but I don't know how to fix it. While I was playing around with the items in the "Play" dialog that appears when you initiate a slideshow, I discovered that if I uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" and then change the selection in the tree of folders underneath the checkbox, that the checkbox becomes selected. This would normally be the considerate thing to do, since if the user were making a selection in that tree, it would be rather "rude" in a software sense to not check the checkbox automatically. Unfortunately, in this case, the logic doesn't seem to be looking at the Preferences flag which (correctly, I think) is remembering that I don't want music to be played. So what I think is happening is when this dialog is first instantiated, the checkbox setting is remembered correctly. However, what happens next is that the saved selection in the folder tree is then restored, which then triggers the "a tree selection was just made, so let's check the checkbox" event. This is why if you've saved the "don't play music" setting, the checkbox is initially cleared, and then when the tree selection is set, the checkbox becomes checked. If I save the settings with the checkbox checked, the checkbox is set from the instant the dialog appears. So assuming that this is what's happening, is it possible to fix this by editing the NIB file using the Developer Tools? Or is this logic embedded in the compiled code?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

It started a few months ago. During music playback, it would freeze for a 'fraction' of a second randomly but as time has gone on, it freezes for up to 5 secs now. I've used iTunes to 'restore' my iPod and have the latest firmware updates, but still the same problem. I use MP4 for music.

No sound during fullscreen playback iTunes.

After updating my iTUNES to Version 12.1.2.27. There is no audio during fullscreen video playback. Audio is normal during windowed playback.
I'm using a Macbook Pro retina 13" with OS X 10.8.3. Even after increasing or decreasing the audio level in fullscreen there is no sound. Please help.

Welcome to the discussions and to Macs!
Don't know about your specifics, but a simple thing to test is to look at the iDVD menu for the titles....I am assuming this is on a submenu....to see if the audio icon is active. If you look in the audio well, there should be a tiny icon with wavy lines. If it is not present, click on the audio well and it should return. It is very small...I almost could not see it.
You cannot see this if you have any audio files in the well, so remove the file first.
I am sure more knowledgeable users will offer their advice as well.
