RequestDispatcher Error in JSF-Portal application
hi,
i have the following problem and need some help, ideas, etc....
I have a portal-application (jsr 168) with jsf frontend and wan't to do the following.
I get via portlet-portlet communication some parameter (in processAction) and wan't to navigate in some special case to a diffrent jsf-jsp.
I tried to do this with the request dispatcher in the doView method.
PortletRequestDispatcher rd = getPortletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/demoJsfPage.jsp");
rd.include(request,response);This will only work, if I have a "normal" jsp page. If I put the first jsf-item on the page, i will get a javax.portlet.PortletException at org.apache.pluto.core.impl.PortletRequestDispatcherImpl.include(PortletRequestDispatcherImpl.java:133)

Any ideas, or workarounds?

Hello,
You can download these components from Service Market Place (service.sap.com/swdc) and:
Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> "Support Packages and Patches" -> "SAP NetWeaver" -> "SAP NETWEAVER" -> "SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" -> "Entry by Component" -> "BI Java":
BI BASE SERVICES 7.00
BI WEB APPLICATIONS 7.00
You have to download the SP that equals your APAP SP.
Normally, these SCAs will be installed with installation of "BI Usage Type" of the J2EE engine.

os the log of the "parent application". This is rather high level in the container. The message in the logfiles tells you that a procedure doesn't exist.
This can mean 3 things:
1. The procedure really doesn't exist
2. The procedure expects different parameters then passed
3. In the procedure a specific array member is called (but not found). (don't know how to explain this better in English, sorry for that).
It has been a while since I touched portal. In the past portal used a DAD (located in your HTTP-Server configuration). By changing the error style of the dad, you might find a more comprohensive error message. -
Web composer option not displaying while Customizing Error Messages of Portal applications
Hi
I am trying to customize the error messages through web composer in sap portal but when i Choose System Administration → System Configuration → Knowledge Management → Content Management Web composer option is not shown . I am using netwearver 7.0
please guide me I searched google but couln't find any satisfactory answer.
ThanksHi Raima,
From your description I assume you are attempting to implement the steps outlined in the following documentation, is this correct -
Modifying Error Pages - Carrying Out the Initial Configuration - SAP Library
If you are navigating to the KM configuration through the steps you outlined and you do not see WPC Composer listed under 'Content Management' I would suspect that it is not deployed on your system (at least not successfully). It is not included as part of the default stack in EP 7.0 and must be deployed separately. If you do intent to deploy this component, you should also note that the SP level of the KMC-WPC SCA should match the SP level of the other KM and EP components. -
JSF portal - Getting ClassCastException while accessing ServletRequest obj.
Hi,
I am using weblogic 8.1 sp4 and I am trying to deploy a JSF portal application. When I try to access ServletRequest object, it throws a ClassCastException.
code snippet -
ExternalContext externalContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext();
ServletRequest servletRequest = (ServletRequest)externalContext.getRequest(); // Throws error at this point.
It works fine if I use PortletRequest instead of ServletRequest. But I am trying to make it independent of portal API. Is there any way by which I can access servletRequest object?
If I run this application outside portal environment(i.e. only on JSF fraemwork), it works fine.
Here is the error i get in my browser -

Any help?
Thanks
KunalKunal,
A PortletRequest/RenderRequest is not a ServletRequest - the two are not the same and don't share a common superclass or interface other than java.lang.Object. So simple casting like you're doing won't work.
Are you trying to call a method that is only found on ServletRequest and not on PortletRequest/RenderRequest. If so, you're out of luck. You don't have a ServletRequest object inside the portal, so you can't call methods that aren't on the RenderResponse object.
If the method(s) you're calling are common to both classes then you can use reflection to access the desired methods and avoid a CCE. A good pattern for this type of situation is "Duck Typing" - a description of Duck Typing in Java can be found here:

Hope that's helpful.

Error while Creating a basic portal application using JDeveloper
Hi,
I am trying to build a portal application using the following tutorial on JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 on Windows XP.

Sarabjeet.Hello,
You can download these components from Service Market Place (service.sap.com/swdc) and:
Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> "Support Packages and Patches" -> "SAP NetWeaver" -> "SAP NETWEAVER" -> "SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" -> "Entry by Component" -> "BI Java":
BI BASE SERVICES 7.00
BI WEB APPLICATIONS 7.00
You have to download the SP that equals your APAP SP.
Normally, these SCAs will be installed with installation of "BI Usage Type" of the J2EE engine.

Error while simualting a Portal application
I am trying to create a Portlet thru Portal Builder. So in the 1st step I have created a Portal application, then created a Portlet extending Generic Protlet. Then finally I have tried to simulate into SunONE Portal Server. At that time I am facing java.lang.IllegalArgumentException error.

Consuming external Web Service in portal application:Error URL.getProtocol
Hello!
I implemented a portal application which consums a external Web Service with NWDS 7.2.
The Webservice access works fine when I test it in a Java-Main Class.
If I deploy the application in a portal then I get the error:
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.net.URL.getProtocol() of an object loaded from local variable 'tmpUrl'
It seems that my service_client-class has the problem to call the wsdl if the application is in portal:
static {
java.net.URL url = null;
try {
java.net.URL tmpUrl = SERVICEClient.class.getClassLoader().getResource
("wsdl/com/sap/test/SERVICE.wsdl");
url = new java.net.URL(tmpUrl.getProtocol(), tmpUrl.getHost(), tmpUrl.getPort(), tmpUrl.getFile());
} catch (java.net.MalformedURLException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
Can anybody help me?
Thanks, ThomasHello Thomas,
I got the same error. In my case I used an Enterprise Application Project for the developement of my Portal Service. The portal service itself was calling an external webservice.
The reason in my case lies behind the generation of the EAR-File with the NetWeaver Developer Studio). Inside the generated EAR-File the WSDL-File was always missing. In consequence "
java.net.URL tmpUrl = SERVICEClient.class.getClassLoader().getResource
("wsdl/com/sap/test/SERVICE.wsdl");" is always "NULL".
and "tmpUrl.getProtocol()" leads to the NullPointerException.
So I copied my wsdl-folder / package with the wsdl-file inside the {application}.ear / {application}.war / WEB-INF / private / lib / {application}.jar and everything works fine:-)
Regards
Steffen
PS: Today I found a better way without copying the wsdl-file into the EAR-File. I just didn't use the Enterprise Application Project for the developement of portal services anymore. If you look inside the generated EAR-File, you can see, that you can develop the portal service also by using a simple Dynamic Web Project wrapped by an Enterprise Application Project:-)
(Rem.: Don't miss the portalapp.xml deployment descriptor).
If you deploy the Enterprise Project the WSDL-File is always inside the generated EAR-File :-) -
Error while running the portal application
Hi All,
I have made one sample portal application in Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8.When I build this application it is successfully build.Now when I start the server of Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8 and try to run the project ,the browser opens and gives the following error::
HTTP Status 404 - /portlet/
type Status report
message /portlet/
description The requested resource (/portlet/) is not available.
Sun-Java-System/Application-Server
If anyone having idea about this problem then please let me know.All suggestions are welcome.
Thanx and Regards,
Chirag.OK, so they are not in the mood for posting on the forum today :-)
They suggest three things.
1) Restart the server. Deploying a portlet requires some configuration changes, which will take effect only after the server is restarted. Thus if it failed to restart due to some reason...
2) Try deleting the JSE userdir and trying again.
3) If the above two items do not help. Start the studio with the following command:runide.exe -J-Dcom.sun.tools.ide.portletbuilder.log=log,info try the deployment and either post here or email the output which will be output to the console.

this is a portal application problem - nothing to do with this forum. Anyway - you can try by changing your component-config portion in portalapp.xml and see whether it works or not.
Your current component config is like below
<component-config>
<property name="ClassName" value="com.rr.JspPage.JspPage"/>
<property name="ComponentType" value="jspnative"/>
<property name="JSP" value="pagelet/JspPageFile.jsp"/>
<property name="ServicesReference" value="com.sap.portal.ivs.connectorservice"/>
</component-config>
Try replaing the same with below:
<component-config>
<property name="ClassName" value="com.rr.JspPage.JspPage"/>
<property name="SecurityZone" value="com.sap.portal.pdk/low_safety"/>
</component-config>
Check once and let me know...

Error with JSF application on SAP NetWeaver App Server 7.3
Hello Gurus,
I have a JSF web application which I have deployed on the SAP NetWeaver Server 7.3 , but when trying to access the same I get the error
Cannot process an HTTP request to servlet [Faces Servlet] in [SecurePro] web application. [EXCEPTION] javax.servlet.ServletException: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.jsp.exceptions.CompilingException: Error in executing the compilation process: [ Compilation Failed! Exit Code=1
Has anybody else also got the same error earlier?, I am using Mojarra implementation for JSF.
I had earlier deployed the same application in an earlier JSF version and it worked on NWAS7.0 but Now I need to upgrade that, Please help
Thanks
Somil AgarwalHi Ingo,
Yes - Ive tried every possible combination and here is my findings...
I don't think the 32-bit version of the SAP Java Connector (2.1.8) works on a Windows 2003 x64 SAP J2EE 7.0, i.e. the sapjco.jar file. I created a directory and added it to the CLASSPATH of the J2EE server (server and instance) and I also added it to the Java classpath using: java -jar <path+sapjco.jar> -classpath. Executing this command brings up a SAP Java connector window where it displays information of the version, location of the sapjcorfc.dll file etc. This windows opens, but is not able to display the information. If I do exactly the same with the x64 bit version of the SAP Java connector (2.1.8) it displays the information correctly in the SAP Java connector popup. I've tried copying the sapjcorfc.dll and the librfc32.dll to both the /system32 and the SYSWOW64 directory on the server.
HOWEVER, in CMC the Role Import tab still does not work - I just get the text null (in red). Before adding the sapjco.jar to the java classpath I got another error on the Role import tab - something like /com/sap/mw/jco/$JCOFunction. So it seems like it is now able to find the sapjco.jar file, but can not use it properly.
The big question is now: Should the sapjco.jar file actually be on the Application server or on the BOE Server? I know it says on the application server in all documentation, but that generally assumes Tomcat and all installed on one server.
BOE uses the sapjco.jar file to connect to the BW system to import the roles and that must be the BOE server doing that job and not the Application server???
Just my thoughts - maybe we can discuss this at Teched in Phoenix? :o)
Best regards,
Jacob
