Requesting assistance from A Treo 650 owner....

Greetings!
Am trying hard to erase contacts lodged into the contact list from the SIM card.
Each contact has a blue square and a smaller yellow square inside, on the right side of each phone number stored in contact list.
When clicking on the contact name, normally a window would open, allowing me to edit and thus remove that contact.
This function will not work now because of the Blue/yellow squares next to each phone number.
I am not able to edit, and the Treo 650 does not have import capabilities, if it had - I would import all "blocked" contacts into the phone memory and then erase them easily. If anyone has a solution and is willing to assist me, with steps I should take, I would highly appreciate your good will & asistance.
Thanking you all in advance,
Shelpif111

Hello!
Those particular contacts are SIM contacts from your SIM Book on your SIM card.  You cannot edite nor delete these particular contacts from the contacts app.  You need to use the SIM Book app on your Treo to manage them.  If you just want them to not display in the contacts list then from within the contacts app on your Treo go into Preferences, press the manu button and then R key, and from there take the check out of Show SIM Phonebook.  Hope this helps.

  • Transfering information from a Treo 650 to a 800W.

I was told by Palm tech support that I would be able to transfer the OS information on my Treo 650 to Outlook and then downloaded into my 800W.  After hours of trying to do this, I am turning to you for help.  Is this in fact possible and if so how is it done?

Hello BINKS and welcome to the Palm forums.
The Palm tech support agent that you spoke with is correct; you need to use Outlook as the bridge to load PIM data from the Treo 650 on your new Treo 800w.  This Palm KB article might shed some more light on what needs to be done.
If the problem is getting the Treo 650 to sync with Outlook, you might want to just spend some money and purchase a copy of Chapura Pocket Copy which is used to push your Palm Desktop data into Outlook.

  • Is it really possible to upgrade from a Treo 650 to a Treo 750?

I am not a very happy customer at the moment, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I upgraded from my old Palm Tungsten to a Zire, then to a Cingular Treo 650, combining three devices into one. I have since discovered that the Treo 650 seems to have a faulty transmission mode, as I can rarely be clearly understood by whomever I call. Am on the second (or third, I have lost track) and continue to have the same problem. I get five bars of reception but can't be understood on the other end. A bit of a problem when one is trying to call 911. Am constantly told I am "breaking up". The repair shop says it "Can't duplicate the problem". OK, then I do not want to give up all the info I have stored in the fool thing, and the 750 seems to have a different system, so I thought I would try that. All the stuff I could find seemed to indicate it wouldn't be a problem to upgrade. When the 750 arrived, I tried to install the software from the CD on my Windows XP computer. No dice. Setup encounters an error and closes. Can't even look at the files, because setup tries to run any time I access the CD. From any drive.  Gave it to my girlfiend to check on her computer, and the CD seemed to run fine. Other CDs work just fine on my computer. Must be some kind of conflict, but what? Tried calling the AT&T number that suggested they could help with setup, and was first connected to the business center, they routed me to the laptop center, who routed me to the network center, who said they would have to bring in the Palm customer service and connected me to a Mac guy that dumped me back to a menu that took me to someone for whom English is a second language with whom I was trying to communicate over a very poor satellite connection. They made no sense anyway. telling me first that I couldn't have two desktops running (wrong, my girlfriend has my old Zire and the CD worked fine) and then insisting that the serial number on my device had to start with a P, when it clearly does not have any alpha characters in it. Gave up on that route of assistance. Managed to get the new ActiveSync installed from my girlfriends computer over the network. Great. Now let's get my 650 synced with Outlook (which I have not used at home) and see if we can move on. Nope. First I have to update Outlook 2000 from the old Win98 to my current XP. Find the old CD, and square that away. OK, now sync to Outlook. Nope. The sync program gives an error, saying it will only sync with Outlook 98, 2000, and XP(2002). Good grief. I have Outlook 2000, and the software apparently does not recognize it. If the Palm doesn't work, there is no reason for me to keep this phone, and I am very close to returning it and abandoning the Palm entirely when I upgrade to something that works, although I dread re-entering all that information.

Thanks for the feedback. Today I installed an Enterprise version of Office 2007 I purchased a while back, but had not yet installed. Microsoft presented a few challenges, but they were quickly resolved. I then downloaded the appropriate conduit from Palm, and synced the 650 with the handheld overwriting the computer. Then used Active Destop to sync the 750. Satisfied I had moved as much info as possible, I called AT&T and had them move the phone number to the new Treo.
Bonus! When the guy at AT&T called me on the new phone to verify it, he said it sounded better than my landline.
Sorry for the streaming paragraph. When it is late I tend to write like I think.

  • Need to upgrade from my Treo 650

I have a Treo 650 that is getting old, but I love it. I use it to manage my entire life! Should I replace it with another Treo 650? Or is there another Palm product that I can upgrade to that I can transfer all my data to?  I use my Treo 650 (Verizon) as a phone and PDA to store memos, tasks, contacts, calendar, etc.  I noticed that Verizon will soon be carrying palm Pixi Plus and palm Pre plus but I don;t know if they are a good solution for me. I am not technologically savvy. Please help. Thanks!
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Verizon)

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
If you were to get another Treo 650 to replace your current one, you would basically be replacing an old, used device with...another old, used device.
The easiest "upgrade" path would be to go with a new model of Palm OS phone that works on your carrier.  Problem is, Palm doesn't make 'em any more.  It's all webOS...Pre and Pixi will both be coming to Verizon as you already know.
The upgrade path from Palm OS to webOS depends a little bit on whether you sync your data with Palm Desktop or Microsoft Outlook.  There are several ways to do it...exporting data from your current desktop repository and importing it into a Google account; using the the Data Transfer Assistant which you'll have access to if you get a webOS device; or using a third-party desktop sync application such as Chapura Echo (Palm Desktop) or Pocket Mirror (Outlook).
Personally (since you asked for opinions), I would visit your Verizon store when the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are available; see how you like the hardware, and give it a test run.  Assuming they will give you a 30-day trial period like AT&T and Sprint do, you can return it if the migration turns into more of a hassle than you'd like to deal with, at which point you can always look for a newer Palm OS phone in the used market such as eBay.

  • Send Mail from Palm Treo 650

I've had a Palm Treo 650 for about 6 months. I've been receiving mail from my .mac account, but when I try to send, I receive various errors, including authentication.
Has anyone out there experienced the same problem? I suspect it has something to do with IMAP setup. I've tried both ports 25 and 587. Also, I've included my user ID in my SMTP server setup and have taken it out.
    Cheers!

This may or may not help you...
I sync two computers through .Mac but don't use a .Mac email account. I've had a 650/Cingular for about 6 months. I use Apple Mail on two computers to poll two POP accounts with my ISP (Charter) and one IMAP account through my web host. I can receive mail on the 650 from all accounts with no problems. Sending or responding to messages on the IMAP account works fine through the 650, but I've never been able to do so with the POP accounts. I get the same error every time ("550 relaying mail to <email address> is not allowed"). It will let me send test emails to those POP accounts though! Unfortunately I don't have time to resolve the issue. Luckily my business account is the IMAP so It's not too critical for me to figure it out. I would try changing all accounts to IMAP to see if that would solve it, but I don't think Charter email works in IMAP.

  • How do you launch a bluetooth sync from a Treo 650?

I have successfully connected my Treo 650 to my Mac via bluetooth and can run Hotsync by going thru the steps in the Bluetooth application on the Treo.
However, isn't there a simpler "one-button" way to launch Hotsync via bluetooth from the Treo --analogous to the button you push when you use USB?
This seems so obvious but I can't find a "how to launch" direction in the Treo manuals or the Palmone website.
    Thanks,

David, thanks. It was so obvious. I didn't realize the Hotsync logo was a button! I was looking right at it.

  • Palm Desktop seems to back up only select data from Treo 650

I recently transferred my Palm Desktop program and backup files from my old XP PC to my new PC running Windows 7 (64bit).  Aside from the frustrations of being unable to HotSync using USB, I was more concerned that that address & calendar files in my user folder were nearly empty.   My calendar contained 14 random events from within the last month and the address book contained three contacts (my Treo contains hundreds).  Each folder should have contained considerably more data.  I went back to the original user folder on my old PC and the saved data was no different.  Although hundreds of events & contacts appear on my Treo and in the Palm Desktop, my user file has less than 1MB of data in those respective folders.
Can I conclude that my monthly HotSyncs have been faulty all of this time?  Or am I looking in the wrong place for my complete data.  Until I find a workaround the Windows 7 problem, I want to make sure all my data is at least present on the hard-drive (even though I can't HotSync).
FYI, this is where I found my skimpy data:   C:/Palm OS Desktop/(username)/address   and   C:/Palm OS Desktop/(username)/datebook     .   The Palm Desktop is Version 6.2.2
    Thank you!
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Sprint)

An update to the above issue:   All of the datebook & address data IS present within the *.aba files within my user folder when opened via Microsoft Access.  However, when I import those files into Palm Desktop, only a small handful of events (28 out 5000+) and addresses (3 out 1000+) appear.

  • Retrieving data from a dead Treo 650

Hi!  I'm REALLY hoping someone can help.
I bought a new phone last week (not a palm, after a serious amount of agonizing...I've been with palm since the palm III).  I'd had my 650 for four years, and it had served me well.
Not two days after I bought the new phone, the 650 simply stopped working.  Nothing would convince it to turn on.  I've tried:
    1.  Pushing any and all button combinations
    2.  Soft resets, both plugged into the wall and on its own
    3.  Charging it overnight from the wall
    4.  Charging it overnight from my computer
    5.  Put my wife's 650's battery (her 650 still works) into my phone.  (her phone also works with my battery, so i'm pretty sure it's not a battery issue)
I haven't tried any hard-reset sorts of combinations (obviously).
Nothing brings this poor device to life.  The problem is, my ENTIRE life is on that phone, and, being the forward-thinking man that I am, I hadn't hot-synced the device to my computer since I got a new computer (please, no chastising...I know it was stupid).  This means, the data on the device ONLY exists on the device.
I've read through these forums...there haven't been too many people with this issue, but the answers they've been given have been uniformly depressing.  Does anyone know of a trick to retrieving the data (even if it involves paying someone else to do it)?  At this point, I don't care about the phone...it's my contacts and my memos that I want back.
    Fingers crossed.

  • Can I Recover Overwritten Data from Treo 650?

I synced my TREO 650 to my Macbook. It seems like the macbook overwrote all of the Contacts and Calendar entries on my Treo. In other words, it synced the mac to my treo, instead of the other way around, which is what I need.

Accidentally deleted data from XD card, don't panic. I suggest an advance and professional XD card recovery software, you can use third-party software Kernel for Digital Media Recovery Tool. It can quickly restore all lost data from XD card. This software
also supports all kinds of multimedia files such as SD Card (Secure Digital), Multi Media Card (MMC), Compact Flash (CF), XD Card, Micro SD card, , Memory Stick. To more details kindly read this post : http://digitalmediarecovery.blogspot.com/2013/12/retrieve-lost-data-from-memory-card.html

  • How do I sync my event colors from treo 650 to iCal and vice versa?

    heres the deal:
in using iCal and my Treo 650 (Verizon), I have been iSyncing the two together. While all the data and calendar events, contacts from Address book, tasks from task list transfer no problem, none of the event colors sync up. If an event from iCal is marked red, it moves to the Treo in "unfiled" gray. If the event is on the Treo and moves to the iCal, it is automatically shuffled under the default color code in the Options category.
If the event is on both the Treo and iCal as red, and I edit the iCal version and then sync the two, it changes the Treo version back to "gray", even though both tools have the same color options and the same categorizations. although this sounds like a small glitch, I run a tour guiding business with multiple tour guides and the color coding is crucial to my PDA, so its driving me absolutely crazy. I bought my Treo with the promise that everything would sync up with the iCal, and it wont.
    What do I do?

The behavior you describe is a characteristic limitation of the iSync Palm Conduit.
The Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space supports categories and groups, and therefore—on advanced Palm OS devices like your Treo 650 smartphone—calendar colors. You can learn more about this application here:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
The Mark/Space Knowledge Base says this about categorization:
    Calendars and Categories
    • iCal events are assigned to a Palm category with the same name as the calendar they are part of. If the category does not exist on the Palm device, the Events conduit creates a category with the calendar name and assigns the event to that category. If that category cannot be added—due to space limitation—the event is added to Unfiled.
    • Palm events/tasks that are in a specific category are sent to that calendar in iCal only if a calendar with the same name as the category exists. If the calendar does not exist, the record will be sent to the calendar that is chosen in the conduit configuration sheet. If the calendar is read only, the event/task will be ignored.
    • On the first synchronization of read-only calendars, the items are properly assigned to the correct category on the device. If any edit is made to an item in a read-only calendar the change is ignored but will persist on the device until something forces it to be overwritten by data from the desktop, for example: if the read-only item was updated. If an item is assigned to a read-only calendar it will be switched to the calendar you have selected in your preferences.
    • Calendars listed in the conduit settings are pulled from Sync Services, meaning that if iCal has not finished synchronizing with Sync Services the full list of calendars may not be read.

  • Setup problem:  Can't setup Treo 650 (Cingular) with iSync on Macbook

    Hi,
Trying to use my Treo 650 with iSync on my MacBook. It worked fine with an iMac G5 running OS X 10.4.8.
I paired my Treo with the MacBook. That seemed to go OK, but the Bluetooth Setup Assistant showed a message saying "There were no supported services found on your device" at the end of the pairing process.
When I launched iSync, I went to Devices --> Enable Palm OS Syncing and let the conflicting Palm conduits disabled. No problem there.
But when I then choose Devices --> Add Device, a window appears as the MacBook searches and finds my phone. It then displays the message "1 device found", with the name of my device next to a phone icon. Beneath that, another message says "iSync cannot connect to this device".
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? My Treo is set to discoverable. I can't figure it out.
    Thanks in advance!

The Add Device… response is normal. You cannot add a Palm device using that menu option - it is added as a consequence of selecting the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option beneath it in the list.
If you have successfully paired your Treo using Bluetooth and triggered the installation and configuration of it after selecting the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option and it still does not appear as a device in the main window of iSync, you should launch the HotSync Manager to insure that the iSync Palm Conduit appears—it's listed as the iSync Conduit—and that it has been activated: the checkbox in the conduit configuration panel should be checked.
This may also be a basic Bluetooth issue, as the your Treo contains several supported Bluetooth profiles, and is a supported device. You might want to break the link, and pair it once again, initiating that action from your smartphone and confirming it from your MacBook.

I don't know about the Treo 650 software, but a similar answer DTfromBH gives has been erroneously repeated for Treo 680 CD software. First time owners have been told they can't get replacements. The Bonus Software was actually freely available for download on the Palm site, contrary to what many were told when contacting customer support.  Since the demise of MyPalm Beta, I don't know the location of the Bonus Software download page, but it was there & the apps could be downloaded individually.
A license to single use means one individual may use the software for himself on one device only; it doesn't mean the software can't be replaced. That license would usually tranfer to the new owner. One is likely to be prohibited from transferring the software to another owner of another device, but not a subsequent owner of the same device.  The hitch is that the device must be registered with Palm in order to be eligible to purchase a replacement CD. However, as I said the Bonus Software had been available for download on MyPalm Beta, as was the Palm Desktop.

  • Treo 650 (Sprint) vs. iSync 10.4.6 and/or 10.4.7

Since the 10.4.6 update, I have been unable to get my iCal data across to my Treo 650. All my HOT SYNC CONDUIT and iSYNC PREFS are set correctly, but I am only getting ADDRESS info, not iCal info.
    HOT SYNC LOG SHOWS:
New ADDRESS BOOK entry appears on Treo 650 in good condition.
New iCal entry does NOT appear on Treo 650.
The way I'm reading this HOTSYNC log, it appears to me (uneducated in this sort of thing) that the error message is concerning the DATEBOOK, which is what would be the iCal data that isn't being transfered.

Any ideas why the DATEBOOK conduit isn't getting there too?
    Willconn

I apologize for the confusion in the other thread concerning this issue. As Aur pointed out, DatebookDB refers to the calendaring not contact records type. That's what I get for trying to deal with technical issues when I am half-asleep.
The DatebookDB referred to in your HotSync log is not the Palm Datebook Conduit - rather, it is the Palm OS DatebookDB application on your Treo itself. I have only ever seen this issue crop up under one of two scenarios, neither of which appear to apply to you:
    • it is a Verizon handset and Wireless Sync is not configured properly
    • you do not have sufficient free memory on your smartphone or handheld organizer
You addressed both of these issues in the other thread, so I don't know what you can do except contact Palm support to address the issue. I don't believe that iSync is the problem. I believe that the issue involves your smartphone itself. Good luck with that international translation thing if you decide to call Palm…
An alternative is to perform a hard reset of your device, which will erase all contact and calendaring data, choose the option to Reset Sync History in iSync after backing up your existing contact and calendaring data in the Address Book and iCal, then initiating a synchronization in which you should be given the option to overwrite the contents of your handheld. If you are not, then stop the process, remove your device from iSync, add it back again, and try once more to synchronize. What you want to perform is a first-time synchronization event after resetting the Treo, in which you are asked if you want to merge or replace your data. You want, of course, to replace the data on your Treo, which is empty because of the hard reset.
