Requesting  password for automatic downloads

On opening iTunes 11.1 a message is popping up requesting my password to register for automatic downloads- how do I get rid of it?
What I have done so far without success: 1. providing my password, several times. 2. uncheck "automatic downlaods" in preferences 3. clelan uninstall and new set-up of iTunes 4. contacting telephone support  5. scratch my head
I hope there are some better suggestions!

I've been having the same problem for about a week now and it's driving me crazy. I've changed passwords in everything to reflect the new protocols (that nobody informed us about, I might add) of having at least one capital, etc. etc., but that hasn't changed anything. I do have one song pending download that WON'T download because the file at iTunes is apparently corrupt, and I can't seem to simply eliminate this one song from the queue. HELP!!!!

  • Why Does iTunes Keep Prompting Me For a Password For Automatic Downloading?

And how do I make it stop doing that?  Everytime I open iTunes, it asks for this password, and I don't know why.  My iMac at home doesn't ask for it, and it has the most current OS update and iTunes version, as does the Macbook this is happening on.  It's quite annoying.

I am unsure as to what you are referring to with respects to my accounts, but ill try and clarify.
I vaguely remember having to sign up for an apple ID several months ago. since that time, my mail program has been asking me for the password for the server (as i listed it) and i have never been able to enter a password that it accepts. Ill be the first to admit that computers are not my strong point, and especially not Apples, as i used PC's my whole life, but i do write down passwords that i use for accounts.
so anyways, i never used the mail account, or the apple forums up until a few days ago when i tried to set up another mail server (the one i use) so that i could access it from mail.
it wouldnt accept the password that i though it should be, so i followed the prompts and instructions to re set my password. again, it didnt change anything.
finally i created this apple id to access this message board. i hope this clarifies my situation...
    anyways, as per your advice:
so i went in to keychain, but all i see is the mail server account that i want to be using, and i dont see the mac server account on the list.

  • Itunes 10 keeps crashing and asking me to sign in for automatic downloads

If i select to cancel then itunes will crash and ask me if I want it to reopen. If I try to cancel/quit Itunes it just keeps trying to reopen all the time and the crashes again
Please help, my life is on Itunes

I've been having this happen as well, ever since the last update. When you download podcasts everyday, it is really annoying. Hope we can get an answer.

  • ITunes is repeatedly asking me to 'Sign In To Use This Computer for Automatic Downloads'.  How do I fix this?

I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and using iTunes v. 12.0.1.26.  Whenever I open iTunes after initially asking for my password  ('Sign-in Required'), it repeatedly asks me to 'Sign In To Use This Computer for Automatic Downloads'.  No matter how many times I enter the correct password it keeps popping up until I hit cancel at least 4 times.  Additionally, now when I attempt to make a purchase in the iTunes store it does the same thing preventing me from purchasing anything.  It repeats the 'Sign In to the iTunes Store' log-in prompt and no matter how many times I enter my CORRECT password it will not accept it.  Why is iTunes doing this and how can I fix it?

I have this same problem and it drives me crazy. I've posted a topic about this, with no replies. In my case I'm pretty sure it's because in iTunes Preferences/Store/Automatic Downloads, I have Music-Apps-Books checked.
But this is what happens to me everytime I open iTunes:
Automatic Downloads password window pops up / I put in password
Immediately again, password window pops up / I put in password
Now I'm fine until I close iTunes and open again
If I don't feel like putting my password in two times and cancel, if you cancel the window 3 times, it goes away.
    What I don't understand:
Why isn't the Automatic Downloads password stored in Keychain
Why does it ask for the password two times

  • Just installed iOS5 and iCloud on iPod Touch, and in Settings, I can't get the on/off switch to stay on for Automatic Downloads.

I just installed iOS5 and iCloud on 4th gen iPod Touch. All is well EXCEPT that I can't get the on/off switch in "Settings" to stay on for automatic downloads of music and apps. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing some previous set-up step?
    Thanks for your help.

to enable icloud you tap "settings" -> "icloud". Make sure you sign in with a valid iCloud Apple-ID. Then you can turn on the various features that are part of iCloud.
Video or Music Syncing is not a feature of it.  Instead you use itunes in the cloud which let's you re-download purchases. This however depends if the service is available in your country.
Worldwide only purchased books and apps are supported for free-of-charge-redownload on your devices.

  • Can you stop the 'Sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads' window appearing at iTunes launch?

Whenever I start iTunes, two windows appear, one after the other, asking me to sign in to use the computer for automatic downloads. Even if I cancel both windows and don't sign in, automatic downloads are still enabled, as they are if I sign in on one or two of the popups. So, to the point, is there any way of disabling these windows at the start-up of iTunes? - they're useless and slow me down xD.
    Incase you need it, I'm running a Lenovo G570 laptop on Windows 7 64-bit @ 3.10Ghz with 6GB RAM.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm seeing the same issue as well with the most current update of iTunes (10.5.3).
What makes this even more of an issue is whenever I have to do this, iTunes Match starts syncing, but never completes, so the only way for me to see my iCloud synced music is to turn off iTunes Match, turn it back on, re-log in again, then it finally shows up about 30 seconds or so later.  With each quit and re-launch of iTunes, I have to go through this whole process again to get my synced music to show.

  • Why do i keep getting a pop up menu for automatic downloads? I turned it off in the preferences, but it keeps popping up, asking me for my password.

Why do I keep getting a pop up menu asking me for my password in itunes to enable automatic downloads? I turned it off in the itunes preferences several times.  iTunes still gives me a pop up message asking for my password.  Please help.

Automatic downloads is for when you download something on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and automatic downloads will download these on your Mac or pc, eliminating the need for syncing. But I have limited bandwidth at home so I do not want this feature. Mine actually stopped bugging me for now, I cruised around the whole community looking for an answer and different things seems to be working for different people. It just seems to be a bug that will hopefully be fixed in an update. For me, I put in my password, even though I didn't want it, made sure it's not set to allow automatic downloads and tested it and it worked. It hasnt bugged me since, but it may come back over time.

  • ITunes sign in for Automatic Downloads

Does anyone know how to keep this from popping up. Everytime I open iTunes I have to cancel this twice and it does not matter if I sign in. I have looked all over and I cannot find any place where I can stop this from happening. Am I stuck with this? It started happening after I installed Lion.

  • Why does iTunes keep prompting for password for Auto Downloads

What is the point checking off "Always check for available downloads" and "Download pre-orders when available" if iTunes isn't going to actually automatically download anything until I go to my computer and enter the password in the pop-up? I understand having to enter a password when buying something new, but why can't it just download the already paid for pre-order TV shows without me having to intervene? All that does it save one step (clicking on "Check for available downloads") and it causes my iTunes to stop or interrupt streaming to my devices such as AppleTV when that prompt is sitting on the screen.
There is no good reason this basic stuff shouldn't be completely automatic ... I should be able to go to bed at night, and when I get up in the morning and go to my AppleTV I should immediately be able to just watch any new episodes that became available during the night without having to stream them from iCloud (which means I would have to download it twice, once while streaming and again to have it on my Mac).

    Nope...
I went through point by point by point, top to bottom, checking and verifying every single item as a possible cause for why my system (Outlook 2013 running on Windows 8.1 and connecting to Exchange 2010) insists on prompting me for my password every single
time I start Outlook.  None of the solutions worked, my system still prompts me.  I don't even have to supply a password.  When the prompt dialog appears, I just cancel it.  Within a few seconds, the bottom Outlook status bar changes to
"Need Password" with a key icon to the left.  Then I just click on that message and immediately Outlook connects to Exchange.
The freaking software is BROKEN!  Period.

  • Accidentally associated my iphone to the wrong itunes account for automatic downloads. What do I do?

Pretty much explained it in the title. I signed into my dad's iTunes account today to download a quick app that he had already purchased when I accidentally forgot to sign out of his account. Later on, I receive a notification on my iPhone that my iPhone is associated to a different Apple I.D. and that I can transfer over to the account for the automatic downloads feature. I didn't think this through and decided to transfer over, not knowing what I was doing. It said that I have to wait 90 days before I can transfer back over to my own Apple I.D. can someone from Apple please help me!!!

No one from Apple can help you here.  This is a user forum.  We are all itunes users like you.

  • ITunes Won't Authorize for Automatic Downloads & Account Information Viewing

    Hi,
So I've been having a problem signing into iTunes for the last few days now. First off, I've isolated the problem to my MacBook Pro and verified that Mac OS X/iTunes were both up to date. I've reinstalled iTunes and restarted. I've tried re-athorizing my computer for the Store. I've tried reseting my network configuration by deleting the NetworkInterfaces.plist. I've even tried deleting the SC Info folder. Nothing has worked. At all. What is happening is that whenever I go to authorize Automatic Downloads or to view my Account in the iTunes Store, it just keeps prompting me without ever signing in. I can see the progress bar moving to signify it's attempting to connect but it always fails to do so. Oddly enough and despite not being able to update my apps, it's actually somehow updated a few of them. Could this perhaps be a case of my ISP not having the correct ports open? At this point, I really don't know what else it could be. Anyway, this is just becoming more and more frustrating by the day. Please help!

Let me guess: you changed hardware or did major system changes? Like Windows needs to be activated again after such changes, iTunes needs too. Just deauthorise the PC and authorise again, should fix the problem.

  • How do I specify a particular Proxy Server, port, user-ID and password for file downloads

We are attempting to deploy Creative Cloud trial applications to a couple of users for testing purposes.
This is a corporate environment where we need to specify a particular proxy server by IP address, and port with a User-ID and password for identification in order to download files.
The Creative Cloud app appears to be ignoring the proxy settings in the browsers installed on the machine used to attempt a download. The Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition wants you to already have the files available.  All technical support had is a white list, no help on how to specify a particular proxy server.  Do we have to obtain media from Adobe, or is there a way to download these?
    Thanks

  • Lion requests password for programs frequently

OS asks me for keychain passwords for Mail, Address book, and Safari. This did not start immediately after installing Lion but I wonder if settings are changed when updates to the Lion cluster of programs are downloaded. I have experienced these changed settings in previous OSX versions but have always been able to find the cure. I am stuck on this one right now.
I wonder if anyone can talk about the settings and how to set them for this kind of thing. The trouble is that I like to fix things and may have made it worse.

It sounds like you may have invalidated the code signatures of those applications. To find out, launch the Terminal application and copy or drag -- do not type -- the following line into the window:
    codesign -vv /Applications/Mail.app
Press return. You should get the following lines of output below what you entered:
    /Applications/Mail.app: valid on disk
    /Applications/Mail.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement
If that's not what you get, reinstall and re-update Lion.

  • How can I see which devices are registered for automatic download (synching) from iCloud?

    Hello!
I have a numerous of apple devices and would like to know how I see if they are ALL regisitered to my icloud.

Devices are associated with an Apple ID whenever you do one of three things: turn on iTunes Match; turn on Automatic Downloads (in Settings>iTunes & App Stores on an iOS device, and in iTunes Preferences>Store on a computer; or download previously purchased content from the iTunes or App stores.  If you do any of these on your other devices, they will become associated with the Apple ID they are sign into at the time.
Keep in mind that once associated with an ID, they cannot be associated with a different ID for 90 days.  You can associate up to 10 devices with an ID, 5 of which can be computers.
