Requests for Music NOT available in iTunes Music Store

Hello,
I was wondering when, if ever, will there be a place within iTunes Music Store to request music by an artist you already have but not their complete catalog. For example, you mention under Frank Sinatra's bio his Reprise years yet have nothing from his Reprise Years even though you still acknowledge that Sinatra Reprise was one of his best selling compilations.
Also certain artists show up under compilations but not themselves. Example - Tim Miner. So my question is - is there a way to request an album or an artist and be alerted as to when they or the specific album has been added?
Thank you

I was wondering when, if ever, will there be a place within iTunes Music Store to request music by an artist...
Its always been there!
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
Its near the bottom of the main Apple iPod + iTunes page. (it has an icon of a pencil next to it)
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
You can also, from the iTunes menu bar, go iTunes>provide iTunes feedback. That will take you to the music request page.
Hope this helps.

Under purchased items in the APP Store, it say that the item you have requested is currently not available in the US store. The item in question is Mountain Lion OS X which I have already paid for. Any ideas to retrieve this?

When you submit a podcast you should get an email acknowledging the submission. If you subsequently submit it again you will get an error message saying that it's already been submitted.
It then has to be assessed by a real person, which can take some time - a couple of weeks seems to be common, but it can be longer: however since March seems an unreasonably long time.
When it's accepted (or rejected) you should get an email saying so, in the first case giving you a link to the Store page.
More than that I can't tell you: obviously I don't have access to the inner workings of the Store. You could try asking Support, but I have to say you probably won't get a helpful answer. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

• "The item you've requested is currently not available in the Indian Store"?

Also My iPhone 4s is not getting connected with iTunes .
Please help on this..

Sorry. You're still not making sense.
I am able sign in there but not able to access iTunes at all.

• Why is EMI Classics music not available as iTunes Plus?

Why would the album "EMI Classics: Stokowski plays Bach" not be available in iTunes Plus format?

The weird part for me was that I bought an album listed as being a featured album in the iTunes Plus soundtrack section of the store, and though it was listed as being an iTunes Plus album and all of the tracks were listed as $1.29 and had the "+" icon next to them, it only downloaded the $0.99 DRM versions of the songs instead. (I agree, I'm not going to be buying DRM'd music now if I can help it thanks to having the option of choosing DRM-free music from EMI.)
I sent a message to the iTunes Store support staff since I expected to receive the iTunes Plus version, and they told me that the "playlist is not an 'iTunes Plus' eligible playlist" -- even though it clearly was listed as an iTunes Plus album when I clicked to buy it, it's now not saying that it's an iTunes Plus album and all of the tracks are only listed as $0.99. The thing that confuses me is that the soundtrack is listed as being published by United Artists Corporation (I'm assuming because they're the ones who made the movie), but the digital album booklet that came with the album clearly says at the end that it was published by Capitol Records (which is owned by EMI).
Why would the status of this album be reversed?
Another thing that confuses me, in the "Top Albums" section of the iTunes Plus portion of the store, are these supposed to only be albums that are iTunes Plus enabled? or the top soundtracks from the whole of the iTunes store? I'm finding a few that are listed here now but aren't iTunes Plus albums, and don't know if they were reversed like my album (though the one I purchased is listed as #15 right now in the top soundtrack albums) or what.

• ITunes on my new Mac is telling me paid for music "not available in iTunes store"?

I have had an iTunes account for years. Having just bought a Mac and synced iTunes, selected tracks on many of my iTunes store purchased albums are missing - e.g. tracks 2,3,4,7 & 11- iTunes says "This album is not currently available in the iTunes store"
The albums ARE available, and this is stuff I bought and have had synced successfully for a long time!
Any clues anyone? This is rather random but I'm at a loss what to do...
Many thanks

Don't rely upon Apple to keep this stuff for you. If an item gets pulled from the Store it will not be available for redownload even if you bought it. Even if it is available for redownload, as you can see the system is not perfect and if you had transferred the library you would be done by now. Since some of the tracks are donloading but others are not, and I am presuming you bought the whole album, you may need to contact iTunes Store customer service to resolve the redownload issue.
Contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history or,
iTunes Customer Service Contact - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html > Get iTunes support via Express Lane > iTunes > iTunes Store
Apple recommends, "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

• "The item you've requested is currently not available in the US store"?

I get this message every time I try and go to the home page of the iTunes store. It says it when I try to go to the music page too. But I can still search and go to the subsection's of Music and all of the other sections of the store. But why can't I view the home page? Is anyone else having this problem?

yeah, not to be redundant, but I'm getting the same thing. I get a lot of my music from the cards that you get in Starbucks and I can't get the songs now because I need to access the "redeem" icon which I can only get from the HOME page of the itunes store and everytime I try to open it I am reminded yet again that I am in the US....yeah, we know the drill... It's getting ooober annoying. It wasn't doing this a week ago, so it must be a recent thing. I just hope they make an update so we can get rid of this glitch. I too tried downloading the newest version and unfortunately I already have it. I want to be able to access the itunes store home page. Get on it Apple!

• Why is Mozilla Firefox app not available in iTunes Canadian store (it is available in Us store).

When attempting to download app I am redirected to US store but then told I must have Us account but as a Canadian I cannot set up Us account.

• I'm getting "not available in U.S. stores" when accessing Itunes store.

I'm getting "Your request could not be completed. The item you requested is currently not available in U.S. stores." I've seen this asked before, but no reply. Everything is upto date (Windows Vista). The library displays without a problem, just can't access any categories (Apps, Movies, Music, etc.) Also, when I try to log into the store, I get the message an unknown error occurred (11556) and to check my network connections. I have no problem logging in from Iphone or Ipod and downloading a new app or song. I tried the support options, created a new user and Itunes worked, so it appears to be user specific. The suggestions to fix it aren't working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a couple of albums in the past. I recently reformatted my hard driver and wanted to download those albums again.
I keep getting this exact same message. At first I thought it was just a problem with one of the albums, but it seems that it's the case for all my music.
I hope they fix this issue soon.

• Music not available for purchase in the US

I want to purchase a couple of albums by Cassius but they are not available in the US store. I can find what I want in the other itunes stores from other countries but I can't purchase them. Is there a way around this?

Not really, kwlonergan, unless you happen to have a credit card account set up for the other country.
Have a look at Scott P.'s User Tip for some insight into the business side of the music industry.

• Music sync not available in iTunes 10.5 preferences

I have upgraded to iTunes 10.5, upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5, updated OS-X to 10.7.2, updated iPhoto to latest version, enabled sync of everything in OS-X iCloud settings.
BUT, in the iTunes preferences, under store, Music is not available as an option to syncronize, only programs and books as earlier.
The Apple guides state that Music should be there.
What can be wrong? any other having this problem?
I want all my bought music to be available on all my devices...

hey henke,
I , too , was wondering why the most important service that I was waiting for , was not available.... the check box for "music" does not appear.
It turns out that this service is ONLY available to users that have an AMERICAN iTunes account....
sadly , apple dons't say that and in the web site it seems that this sync service for music is availale for all.
I guess amd hope it will come to Europe soon. i myself have a German account in itunes

• I have 100's of CDs that I have downloaded to my itunes library and they are in the library playable but they do not show up in the C drive under the iTunes Music folder under users. Why are they in the libary and not in the itunes music folder. Win 7 OS

I have 100's of CDs that I have downloaded to my itunes library and they are in the library playable but they do not show up in the C drive under the iTunes Music folder under users. Why are they in the libary and not in the itunes music folder. Win 7 OS. When I look in the library under the get info screen it says they are in the folder itunes music, under the c: drive but when I actually go to that folder to look for them they are not there....HELP!

Hello RumDog,
I think this article will help you find the media in your library.
Where are my iTunes files located?
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
Discovering and changing the iTunes Media folder location
Note: You would usually only change the iTunes Media folder location to share music between accounts on the same computer. See this article for specific steps on how to accomplish this. Also, see this article if you want to know how to move your music to a new computer.
Mac OS X: Click the iTunes menu and choose Preferences.
Windows: Click the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
Click the Advanced pane. iTunes displays the location of your iTunes Media folder.
You can then:
Note where your media folder is, such as for backing up your media.
Use the Reset button to reset it's location to the default (which is the iTunes folder).
Click the Change button to select a folder for a new location. Once you change this location:
If you make a new or alternate iTunes library, the new location will be used by that library.
Existing files will not be moved unless you choose File > Library > Organize library and choose the option to "Consolidate files."
From: Where are my iTunes files located?

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Many thanks again though for helping me.

• How to find files in your iTunes Library & NOT in Your iTunes Music folder AND visa versa.

Finding Files in iTunes Music folder that are not Listed in iTunes
Make 2 Smart Play Lists and 1 Static Playlist as follows:
1. Make a smart playlist called “All Files” with this rule: “Artist” is not “123456789″ (or any nonsense name that won’t be in your library).
2. Make a static playlist called “All Live Files”.
3. Make a smart playlist called “Missing Files” with these rules: Match all of the following rules, Playlist is “All Files”, Playlist is not “All Live Files”
Preform the following operations:
4. Select all the files from “All Files” and drag them into “All Live Files”. The dead files marked ! will not copy over.
5. “Missing Files” will contain all of your dead files. Select all and delete (Option+Delete). Voila, a nice clean iTunes library.
I keep these three playlists in their own folder. Whenever I gather more than a couple dead tracks for whatever reason, I delete all the tracks in “All Live Files” and repeat steps 4 and 5.
Finding Files in iTunes Library Are Not Present in iTunes Music Folder
Search on ‘Net for an Applescript called “Music Folder Files Not Added.” This will be at a site called Doug’s Applescripts and costs a mere $1.99. Install and follow instructions. This script also happens of clean up gremlins such as Podcasts that won’t go away, etc.
<Edited by Host>

From the top of the page where the scripts live...
The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.

On i-pad, when I try to enable itunes match, it says, "you are not currently subscribed to iTunes Match. Use iTunes on your computer to subscribe." I am subscribed though! Then it says no to my request and, "item not available in the U.S. store." My Mac will not use update iTunes to any later version than the one I have because my os is also out of date, but when I try to update that i cant, so what do I have to do? Please don't tell me I have to buy a new Mac to be up to date.

On the iOS device you must be logged into the store with the exact same Apple ID you used to originally purchase the service. Go to Setting > iTunes & App Stores and if necessary sign out/in and then enable iTM.
