Require MS IE 4.0 or higher...

When I try to install Elements 2 I get this message [see below] and the setup terminate. The problem is that I've got MS IE 6 (6.0.2600.0000) installed.
Is this a known bug or what?

Try right-click your iexplore.exe file and check under properties - version - fileversion/productversion to find out your version.
Then you can do a search in the registry for that version, if you don´t find any version info in the registry or in your file properties, try to add version info (my verion "6.0.2800.1106") in the registry under the following entries:

LogicX does work (thank god). Other current issues: Video conversion; 1-Compessor 4.07 crashes on startup, bug report sent to Apple. 2-Turbo.264HD creates unplayable M4V files. Currently using Handbrake for video conversion instead. I tried a bunch of workaround. I am out of ideas, I don't know what's wrong. Anyone? TIA.
(I need GarageBand on my Mac because I use it on my iPhone to play backtracks. I am mentioning the video conversion issues because I think this might be linked to QT, but what I really need is start GarageBand.)

QuickTime 7 is a old QuickTime version for MacOS X 10.5. Your clean install of Mac OS X must have erased some older dynamic libraries that GarageBand needs.

When I click "Compatible with your current plan" the number goes to down to 52 results.
However, 23 of them say "Data pak required" and another 3 say "Requires data pkg $9.99 or higher".
Those phrases seem to imply that those phones are not compatible with my plan and
would require changing my plan. If so, why do they not disappear when I click "Compatible with your current plan"?
2) Suppose I get one of the phones that say "Data pak required" or "Requires data pkg $9.99 or higher"
and indeed I have to change my plan.
Would I be obligated to the different plan for the full two years or could I just switch back to my old plan
at some point and just not be able to access some features of the phone?
I tried asking my question to Verizon Wireless directly but all I got was some ambiguous doublespeak

1. Compatible with your current plan is referring to your minutes and Nationwide talk & text plan... The data plan is seperate.
2. It depends on if you get a smartphone or not. If you get a feature phone that requires a data plan, then no you could not take away the data plan and still use that phone. Same goes for smartphones. You will always have to have a data plan with a phone that requires one no matter how you use it... Now if you got a feature phone that doesn't require a data plan, but you added a data plan, you could take that away at any time and revert back to the pay-per-usage plan.

Requirement of GLIBCXX_3.4.9 with higher GLIBCXX intalled

Using CentOS desktop 5.5
I have GLIBCXX_4.1 installed, along with an older 3.4.6. Running FF beta 4.b8 everything was pretty cool, no issues that I noticed. One morning I was prompted to upgrade to newest 4.b9, so I let it download the upgrade and let it restart, but it never came back up.
Looked into it and found the following:

./libxul.so: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by ./libxul.so)
./libxul.so: /usr/lib/libnss3.so: version `NSS_3.12.9' not found (required by ./libxul.so)
I'll get the requirements and try to post a little more if the help->troubleshooting gives anymore information, but just a little confused that Cxx-4.x doesn't cover whatever the requirement is for Cxx-3.4.9

Firefox 4.0b8 worked on CentOS 5.5, but 4.0b9 has a problem with the revision of the C++ library and won't run out of the box. All is not lost though, because you can use Fedora 9's C++ library instead as follows (some of this may need sudo/root access):
1. Unpack the Firefox 4.0b9.tar.bz2 somewhere (e.g. /usr/local/firefox). With the "en_GB" release, I throw in a "dictionaries" sub-dir under there with en-GB.aff and en-GB.dic in there (and en-US.aff/.dic soft-linked to the en-GB ones) otherwise, sadly, Firefox 4 uses US spellings on what's supposed to be an en_GB release :-(
2. Download this 32-bit Fedora 9 libstdc++ RPM and unpack it with this command:
rpm2cpio libstdc++-4.3.0-8.i386.rpm | cpio -i --make-directories
3. Move the unpacked shared library into /usr/local/firefox thus:
mv usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.10 /usr/local/firefox/libstdc++.so.6
Note: It's "usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.10" above (i.e. the unpacked tree from the RPM, not the system /usr/lib tree) - do NOT put a leading slash there!
4. Run Firefox 4.0b9 with:
/usr/local/firefox/firefox

SharePoint 2013 workflows requires site level contribute access or higher

I have a SP 2013 workflow on a list that resides on the root of the site collection. All users have
contribute rights to this list, to the
Workflow Tasks list, and to the Tasks list. But all general users have only READ level access to the site.
If users go to the list, click on any item and either try to initiate a workflow or check status of a workflow (by clicking "..." and choose workflows or check item checkbox and choose workflows from ribbon), they get an error of "This site
has not been shared with you" as it tried to bring the user to http://<root site collection>/_layouts/15/workflow.aspx
I have tried this with a custom workflow, an out of the box workflow and the result is the same every time. However by granting any user CONTRIBUTE level access to the site resolves the issue immediately. I have also gone back and tried this
on a SP 2010 VM and this was not an issue then. You could do the same thing in 2010 with only read level access to the site.
So is this a limitation now with 2013 or a bug??? Surely, the system can't expect that a user needs contribute level access to the entire site just to initiate a workflow of one list.
Please advise.
*This READ level access is very important because the root site is extremely publishing heavy and needs to be controlled and maintained by only a select group of users - not everyone that needs access to the workflow.

I went into the masterpage gallery library and added the users to the read permission level. They are still having the same issue.

HT1338 I have a CD that requires Macintosh OS 10.2 or higher, which I have, but it tells me that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What do I do?

I have a CD for a class that has music files on it. It is published in 2007 by Norton & Company. When I use Finder to try and open it, the icon has a white not permitted sign over it, and tells me that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Are there any apps or patches that I could download or install to make this work?

SAP HANA Studio SP8 - The required sapjco3.dll version is too high

I recently updated my HANA Studio from SP7 to SP8 and recieve now the following popup message every time I start the IDE:
The problem is, that the SAPJCO3 version is the last one (3.0.11) I can find in service marketplace and the dll file has indeed the 720.612 version. So the question is, where I can find the newer dll? Or is this a bug in the HANA Studio SP8, which has a dependency to a jco version, which is not released yet?

the problem is, that the version in Program Files/Java/sapjco3 is also used by other IDE's I used, e.g. Eclipse with installed SAP HANA Cloud Platform Tools, so the remove it from the PATH variable is not the optimal solution in my case.
Do you know, where I can found the new version of JCo in the HANA Studio folder? I assume, somewhere in the plugins folder?
I would try to replace the old dll with a new one, this should then make the trick.

EA6500 requires a factory reset to maintain high transfer speeds

I purchased an EA6500 (AC1750) and a WUMC710 (AC1300) media connector, and I have a 300mbps internet connection at home.
If I power cycle the router, my speed tests drop to 5mbps. If I do a factory reset, they jump back to 300mbps.
The AC1300 loses connection from the router every 2-3 days and needs to be re-sync'd and once a week the router loses its internet connection and needs to be restarted, which means that I have to do a factory reset.
I have read about the 5ghz being a little flakey, which may account for the AC1300 dropping out, which is terrible for something that is meant to be 'always on'. Has anyone else experience the need to continually factory reset their router?

It is already off. The only thing that has been changed from the factory defaults is that the wireless is enabled, WPA2 personal the 5ghz is restricted to wireless-ac and I changed the router password.
I think that Jake is right, either re-flash the firmware or return it.

Why is very high Android app version number required by Play store?

We've recently rebuilt a v29 Android viewer app to v30. On trying to upload it Google Play required that the APK version be higher that 4000000 - does anyone know why this might happen? We followed the advice here Digital Publishing Suite Help | Setting version numbers in Web DPS App Builder - our legacy app version number was actually 4; is there some way this could have become 4 million?!

Did you ever have an app in Google Play that came from Woodwing? They did some interesting calculations to come up with their version code that lead to very large numbers being used.
Regardless, it really has no impact. Just put in 4000001 for your first submit, and then next time around leave the override checkbox off and App Builder will take care of it from then on.

Scanning photos and Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 system requirements

Hello all-
A long, involved question here, so bear with me.
I have a Power Mac G4, still working fine even though it's almost 8 years old.
I want to scan a number of photos for use in a Final Cut Pro 5 project. (I have an Epson Workforce 610 all-in-one scanner). If I understand correctly, the scanner will scan in square pixels, which is no good for video, so I will need to re-save the images in non-square pixels (or rectangular pixels with an 0.9 PAR?). I will also probably want to touch up/re-size a number of the image stills.
It seems to me that I could do this in Adobe Photoshop Elements, only my G4 doesn't have the necessary system requirements. Elements 9 needs a higher operating system, which I can't get because my G4 doesn't have an Intel processor. A side issue is that I also don't have a very large hard drive since the computer is so old (75 GB, about 15 GB free). But I plan to alter the images and then save them to an external drive which has plenty of space.
What to do? I have I-photo '09, but that doesn't seem to have the same functionality as Photoshop Elements 9. Should I try to get an old version of Elements on ebay? Do past versions of Elements have the option of converting from square to non-square pixels? Will past versions of Elements even work on my G4? (I read something which suggested that really old versions, like Elements 2, might not).
Any other options? (Short of buying a new computer, which I don't really want to do).
Thoughts? Advice?

This all started when I was trying to upgrade. I have downloaded the new quicktime and when it came to the option of reparing or uninstalling, I chose repair.
I read through other problems, but didn't find this error message.

Sorry. Um. Try to completely remove the Quicktime program from the Add/Remove directory via Control Panel. Reboot your computer. From the Apple website Save the Quicktime program to your Desktop (i.e., rather than "run from this location.") Install Quicktime by clicking on the Quicktime install program that should be present on your desktop. When it is done, reboot your computer.

How do you avoid screwing with other vendors' Plug-In requirements?

I can control which plug-in my applet uses pretty easily by using the correct info within the HTML page that calls it.
What if another vendor, though, is not requesting a specific plug-in version in their html ... but uses the browser default instead?
When I upgrade my applet to another plug-in version and update my HTML to reference the new version, won't that change the browser's default at download/install time?
Is there a way that I can say:
1. Use this particular plug-in version.
2. If not found, install it -- but don't mark to set the new plug-in as any browser default?
3. If the install can be done silently, is their a silent method that works for Windows and Mac and for IE, Netscape, and Safari?
In other words for the same customer, if Vendor A needs plug-in 1.2, Vendor B needs plug-in 1.3, and I need plug-in 1.4, how can these all live happily together?
Is the only way to do this to make sure all vendors are using the same plug-in strategy?

The method described there by default does not register the plugin to be the browser's default. I haven't actually tried silent install myself, though, and don't know on which systems it'll work.
Regarding other vendor's plugins: I'm afraid there's no guarantee you don't mess up anything. I guess that if everyone is using static plugin versions in their html then they can live next to each other without interfering, the problem comes into play if someone uses dynamic version control. That is what actually happened to me, having deployed an applet requiring jpi 1.3.1 or higher, and later had to find out that it didn't work for clients once they'd installed 1.4 on top of it :-(
In principle I would prefer dynamic version support since it minimizes the number of plugins clients have to install, but due to the ever changing plugin features (grrr...) static version support is probably the recommended way to go (if your customer finds that acceptable).
The lesson I had learned from that is that in the end each vendor and each customer is responsible to have a robust plugin/html deployment, and the client is responsible not to mess up his system (by e.g. having one plugin to be the browser's default) -- all you can do is offer your advice to both parties.

Editing low-res proxy, then applying changes to high-res

Hello
I'm developing one continuous image for a large wall that will be seen from about 1-2 feet viewing distance. It has to be about 100 dpi.
My image is currently 21,600 x 8100 pixels at 8 bits CMYK. It may get bigger. I don't have to do much manipulation, but a lot of it is using brushes and the smudge tool.
2 issues:
1) I have a 12-core Mac Pro with 24GB RAM. The smudge tool is sloooooow when working on this image (like one smudge at max brush size takes 15-20 seconds to take effect).
2) IS there a "warp mesh" tool that I can use in place of the smudge tool?
Is there a way for me to edit a lower-resolution version of this image, then apply the changes I made to the high-res version? then I can use the smudge and brush tools and finessé my work without the machine bogging down, and the imagery will look correct. I'm looking for a way to use these tools more in real time while working with this big image.

This appears to be the solution (at least, it is for me). I can apply my changes to the low-resolution proxy by saving the mesh and then applying that same mesh to the high-resolution image. The large brush sizes (in comparison to the image resolution) that I am afforded in the low-res version are brought across to the high-res because the changes are not applied as brush strokes, but rather as alterations to an overall mesh. the changes to the mesh are what is transferred when I export and import.
Applying the mesh is pretty slow, and it requires a few tweaks at the high-res level, but it gets me 95% of the way there. I think this is workable.
To recap - here are the steps:
1) I make a low-resolution version of the image (like 1200px wide)
2) I make my edits to the image using Liquify
3) before committing the Liquify changes, I "Save Mesh" in the Liquify tool
4) I open my high-resolution image
5) I use liquify, but I do not use any brushes, but in stead load my saved mesh from the low-res
6) profit.
