7) Where do I get information, tests, books, brain dumps, and so on
First, lets be clear. Getting certified is not supposed to be easy. It is supposed to provide you with the knowledge that you will need to do your job professionally. If it was that easy, your job would not be worth that much.
And remember that cheaters who are caught will lose their certification and perhaps lose their chance at any certification in the industry. Using Brain Dumps is considered cheating. Using Gunners is considered cheating. Passing an exam based on purely memorized material without understanding the material is as bad as cheating in the long run.

I am planning to give the exam 1z0-054 to get the certification, "Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Expert".
The Certification Path says that, if you are and "OCP DBA 11g" then you can directly take this paper, and there is no Instructor Led Training requirement. Therefore, I decide to prepare for it by my own. Can someone guide me about the study material and dumps?

Therefore, I decide to prepare for it by my own. Can someone guide me about the study material and dumps?First of all, the word 'dumps' has a specific meaning. It is shorthand for 'brain dumps' which are illegal and can cost you this certification and any others you have taken.

Second -- there currently is no study guide or book specific to this certification available at this time. I write study guides and this one is actually next on my list once I complete the current book for *1Z0-117: Oracle Database 11g Release 2: SQL Tuning*. I won't have a guide for 1Z0-054 until some time in May most likely. That said, I have some links to legal study material on the companion website for my guide series relevant to topics for this exam. It also has links to the Oracle documentation that contains information you need. Once I start writing the book for this exam, the links will expand rapidly as I research the topics for it and the documentation links may expand as well.

  • Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning exam 1Z0-054

    Hi,
I want to take the certification Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning exam 1Z0-054 and want to write the exam.
To earn the OCE credentials, I know that we need to take training from Oracle University. I am not an OCP currently.
Can I write the exam now and later take the course to meet the certification requirements? I know it is not the right way, but I can not pay $3000 for the course as of now. I can write the exam through self study. I want to check if I can take the exam now and later take the course.
Is it mandatory to take the course before taking the exam?
    Thanks,
    naveen.

naveen.Indeed you can take the exam now, and subsequently earn the 11g PERFTUNE OCE credential when you either:
    1) complete, submit and get verified the OU authorised 11g perftune course (possible but seems a little cart before horse).
    or
    2) Become 11g DBA OCP.

HarshI always think it is useful to be precise about these things:
You can take the exam +1Z0-054 11g Performance Tuning+ whenever you like. Simply book it, turn up and take it.
In the event you pass you've passed the exam!!! If you don't it is an expensive re-take.
    However .....
While you;ve passed the exam you would not be a 'Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Certified Expert ' until Oracle confirms to you that certification, and Oracle you have identified all the requriements wht Oracle have detailed here:-
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=287
This indicates one of two additional pre-requisites to the exam pass:-
    : Either (1) : A prior DBA 11g Certification.
: Or (2): Verification of your attendance to the Oracle Univerisity Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning training course.
Above you have sort of indicated the 11g DBA OCP credential requirements (omitting the mandatory training requirement) ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=198)
The journey to 'Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Certified Expert ' is a long one, and i suggest most people should look at the basics first. Begin by becoming familiar with http://certification.oracle.com.
If you wish to continue I would consider focusing on 1z0-051 as a first exam or possilby attempting to find suitable workforce development programme training (assuming oracle univerisity is too expensive). Please be aware IMHO Oracle are not responsible for WDP institutes and I suspect some are very bad.

  • Diff between 1Z0-054 and 1Z0-117

    Hi,
What are the main differences between the Performance Tuning exam and SQL Tuning? Of course, I have read the exam topics of both exams, and the first is mostly for DBA-s, and the second only for tuning SQL statements. Does a simple application developer need the Performance Tuning exam, which as I can see is mostly about instance tuning.
    Thank you.

An application developer with no DBA access would find little use for 1Z0-054.  Unless the privileges in the database were dangerously loose, application developers would not have the required rights to make use of most of the topics covered by the exam.
That said, be aware that some of 1Z0-117 is also on topics that generally require DBA-level access.  I don't believe that developers on most systems would have the privs to create SQL Profiles or SQL Baselines, for example.  They might not even have the privileges required to run the SQL Tuning or SQL Access Advisors.  However, most of the exam is on information that SQL developers can make use of.

  • Can i use "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning " training for getting certification on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054"

i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?

I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents).  BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
.... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
    - This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.
    - Confirmation from Brandye
    - Confirmation from an Oracle Certification Support Web Ticket ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP )
... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054.  I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training  and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version.  ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts.

  • Performance tuning 1Z0-054 Study material

I was trying to find LEGITIMATE study material out there for the perf tuning certification but all I can see is that all too familiar sea of braindump copycat sites.
I want a legitimate source like Transcenders but unfortunately they don't have 1Z0-054 study guides. The self study oracle sells is a bit of a rip off, no offense. I am just a regular joe trying to get a certification and im not about to shell out $1600 for a crappy guide that wont prepare me ( like the oracle ones). The transcenders are reasonably priced but as I said before they dont have one for this test.

    Cheers!

Cheers! With 1z0-054 you are into a heavyweight SQL Expert Exam.
... That really means your study plan needs to revolve arround seeing what the topic is, looking up the the relevant oracle online documentation, making nides, trying it out, then searching other sources such as forums and OTN articles, Oracle Magazine various perfromance tuning books.
Thats a whole wealth of study material! But it does take a lot of time and effort to sor through, and a directed study guide obviously would speed the process. But it is perfectly possille to slog it through those resources I've mentioned.
....... At the end of all that practice tests are useful to see where one it at .... but it is possible to go the longer way round!

  • How similar is the performance and tuning 1z1-064 (12c) to the 1z0-054 (11g)?

I had taken the Oracle 11g performance and Tuning class from Oracle.
I am just wondering how close the 1z1-064 will be to the 1z0-054.
I am also studying for the 1z1-064 exam.
Are there any books out yet, or just the otn material.
    Thanks Roger

Hopefully John Watson will pipe in on this.  I know he has taken both exams.  He recently noted on the OraFAQ forum that he had taken both the 1Z0-063 and 1Z0-064 beta exams.  His comments about them there were:
"I would say that looking at the exams as a whole, there is a huge improvement over the 10g and 11g equivalents. The new exams cover a lot more material in a lot greater detail, and are a lot harder. These 12c exams are a Good Thing for the profession. They should filter out a lot of exam-cram only DBAs"
It's not clear to me how much of that comment was directed at 063 and how much at 064. The topic list for 063 is much larger than that for 053.  However, the topic list for 064 is actually a bit smaller than that of 054.

    ..... Ah well .....
    Goto http://www.oracle.com
From menus drill through Training - Certification Program - Certification Paths:
Select job role of database administrator
select: Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Certified Expert
Drill to the link of the 1z0-054 exam.
My best understanding is Hyderadbad is in India. You should therefore change your Country in top right of window to India to display the price in Rupees.
Anyway time to move on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SbQ4Fq3Eyc
Selecting Support/Help Center from menus will give you FAQs on how to go about registering etc. ... as will Preparation/Steps to becoming certified which also contains a link to registration.

PauloAs I am sure the Lewis and the Kyte and perhaps even he who peers over glasses would agree Before tuning Oracle Database it is best to tune the mind first.
Any before doing certification it is best to understand the difference between authorised(legitimate) material and unauthorised (illiegimate) material.
    http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/the_route_you_choose
IMHO as your search question encompasses illegimate material, it is a poor search question.
By the time one is ready to start preparing for 1z0-054 one should be aware the only 'official' authorative documentation is that provided by Oracle Manuals, conveniently online via http://docs.oracle.com http://tahiti.oracle.com or other appropriate oracle.com URLs and the 1z0-054 topics page on the certification site http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=28&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_054
Of course Oracle training courses are available, including a cdrom:

Edited by: bigdelboy on Sep 11, 2011 1:36 AM As far as I cam aware there are no exam focused books for this certification, however there are a number of general Oracle Tuning Guide books and some may find some of these useful.

  • Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (1Z0-051)?

    Dear Sir:
Hi, I would like to ask 3 questions about the certification requirement of 11g DB OCP.
Please advice me what do I have to do to prepare the OCP exam, thanks a lot in advance.
    Q1:
Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (pass 1Z0-001 = pass 1Z0-051)?
    AFAIK, 11g DB OCP requires passing 3 exams: 1Z0-051 (SQL), 1Z0-052 (AW1), 1Z0-053 (AW2) and finishing a hand-on course at least.
I have passed the 1Z0-001 (Introduction to SQL ans PL/SQL) many years ago.
After searching the discussion in the community, I've found 2 relative:
https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2526631  It said :"1Z0-001 will satisfy the SQL requirement."
https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2467872 It said : "I can confirm that the 001 exam will fulfill the SQL exam requirement if it was passed before it retired."
I was confused on that. Please help me to clear it.
Do I have to prepare the exam 1Z0-051 since I have passed 1Z0-001 (an retired exam)?
    Q2:
Please confirm that finishing the SSC (Self-Study Course) DOES NOT apply the "hand-on course requirement ".
It still need to pay more money for an instructor-led (face-to-face) course, right?
    Q3:
Can I just finish ONE course "Oracle 11g Database Administrator Workshop II" from an Oracle authorized education center to fit the " hand-on course requirement " ?
Sorry I have to ask this because the budget consideration.
    Thank you very much!
    Steve C.

    Q1:
Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (pass 1Z0-001 = pass 1Z0-051)?

    Q3:
Can I just finish ONE course "Oracle 11g Database Administrator Workshop II" from an Oracle authorized education center to fit the " hand-on course requirement " ?
A1 -- Yes, if you passed 1Z0-001, you do not need to take 1Z0-051.  When courses are retired, it simply means they are no longer given to *new* students.  Anyone who passed them still retains credit for having done so.
A2 -- Self Study CDs do not count for the hands-in requirement.  On the approved courses page of OU, it specifically states: "Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement for certification."
A3 -- Only one course is required for the 11G OCP.  That one is on the approved list and so will be acceptable if the vendor is authorized by OU.

  • Urgent requirement - Regarding a dump

    Hi experts,
I have written a program which changes the status of a contract from 'Released' or 'completed' to 'Expired'. The program is supposed to run in the background.
The problem is, while writing it I tested in the development server with few test cases and it was working fine both in dialog mode and background mode. But when it is executed in the background mode in testing server, it is throwing a dump showing some Java related error after 3000secs/30000secs, i.e., after some limited no. of seconds.
    What could be the problem.
Please help. It's an urgent issue.

  • Studying for Oracle 11g Performance and Tuning exam - 1Z0-054

    Hello all,
I want to attend to this exam and I'm looking for interesting and usefull studying path. Sure manuals on tahiti are needed.
Neither sefltestsoftware not Testking has released a proficiency test for this exam. I was only able to find a test from Braindumps here (http://www.exam4test.net/1Z1-054) but not sure this is a serious material.
Any hints about this material and / or any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Stefano

    Hi Stefano
Seems that our friends from Certguard aren't sure that this a legal provider, but the look and feel would say to avoid that site.
Try the http://www.certguard.com/braindump-quiz.asp it matches very well to the site or?
Besides that while looking on the domain i found that
    Domains being linked from exam4test.com
    * Traffic rank 252963. test-inside.com
    * Traffic rank 940584. exam4test.net
    and those sites aren't clean.
