Required account rights for Alert and Performance/Topology collection and operations SDK

Hi,
My question is with regards to required user role privileges for performing certain operations using Operations Manager 2007 R2 SDK.
- Registering an internal connector to MS SCOM for alert subscription:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb437580.aspx
- Collection and acknowledging (or closing) of alerts
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb424130.aspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh327168.aspx
Based on experience and this article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212758.aspx) on how to configure a product connector subscription I'm guessing
that user account needs to have Operations Manager Administrators user role privileges, however I was unable to find this documented in context of SDK.
Are requirements the same for GetMonitoringPerformanceData and GetConfigurationGroups methods?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.enterprisemanagement.monitoring.monitoringperformancedatareader.getmonitoringperformancedata.aspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd848560.aspx
Thank you and kind regards,
Zsolt

Hi,
As far as I know, to close an alert the user should be at least an Operator role. Please refer to the below article to get more information about SCOM user role profiles:

  • What is the diff in term of fastness and performance between retina and last mbp version in percentage ?

What is the diff in term of fastness and performance between retina and last mbp version in PERCENTAGE ?
Ty to not give links i want an answer here and now by someone who knows what hes talking about.

But old mbp is not available with ssd you have to buy the option right ?
Anyway, outside reboot speed is there a speed difference between retina and old version in term of general processing  ?
I have a 2009 MBP that originally came with a SATA drive. Recently, I swapped drives; now, it has 512GB SSD. In other words, you can easily increase the speed of a standard MBP. There is going to be an increase in general processing with the Retina MBPs, but the significance depends on the application. For example, booting Photoshop used to take just over 30 seconds with a SATA drive; with an SSD, it's just under 10 seconds. But controlling for the SATA vs SSD, the differences are smaller and incremental.
Ok you speak about a diff with the retina in term of better graphics when zooming but will this advantage be relevant also on my external  giant monitors ?
I can't answer that, so I'll leave that to someone with more expertise in this area.

  • Would it still be possible to retrieve encrypted files from a Mac OS X 10.8.5 after clean install and performing command p and r?

I'm just wondering, if it would still be possible to retrieve encrypted files (such as home folders using legacy filevault) from Mac OS X 10.8.5 after clean install of new OS and performing command-p and -r during bootup? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Something to know. All of these tools have two things in common:
    1) You must have another drive to save the recovered data to. You cannot save it back to the same partition you are recovering from since doing so could overwrite data you are trying to save.
    2) They take forever to complete. In Windows, a deleted file or folder simply has a flag changed on its entry in the file table so the OS knows the space it used to occupy is free to use for other data. To unerase, the software simply changes the flag back to "live". That's why they work so easily and fast in Windows. How long an item has been marked as erased determines whether or not the space it sat on has since been used by new data.
On a Unix system (which OS X sits on top of), deleted data has its file table entry removed. The only way then to find deleted data is to scour the entire drive for BOF (beginning of file) markers and reading the data of each one it finds to its EOF (end of file) marker.
So be prepared to wait for hours for a search to complete. It could take more than a day for a terabyte or larger drive. It also doesn't help that recovered data rarely has any of the original names.
Edit: Also, did you do a simple erase of the drive, or a zero write erase? If the latter, your chances of recovering anything is virtually nil.

  • Does java require admin rights for deployment?

Just like the subject says, if I'm running in a limited user account can I deploy java packages or do I have to have admin rights in order to deploy programs?

Installing Java on a Windows 2k or XP machine requires Windows administrative privileges - see the appropriate Java Installation Instructions from Sun. If your use of "deployment" means anything else, that's all controlled by the privileges that your administrators give you; there are no requirements or rules other than what they set, as DrClap said. If you're not sure, have them set you up like the other people.

The default user account picture is stored here.
    C:\programdata\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\user.bmp
It should just be a matter have copying the picture you want to that location and over writing what is there.
    or....
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\User Accounts\Apply the default user logon picture to all users
    You can also configure this by a registry setting;
     [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
      UseDefaultTile = 1
The picture that you configure, will not be loaded until the user account will actually be created on the pc. Meaning the first time a >new< user will log on to a pc, they will have no picture shown at all using their login screen (this is default
behavior). Same will occur if you enable the policy don't display last user name. However, once they log in the picture will be shown in the start menu, and if they lock their pc the image will also be shown

  • Can I backdate iTunes to iTunes 10? I use it only for my 18,000 song collection, and I hate the iTunes 11 configuration.

I have an iMac,  version 10/68,  My iTunes is, reluctantly, up-to-date.  I use iTunes to organize my music, with over 100 playlists, all song rated, dated, commented on, and added to as many of the playlists as they ought to be heard in.  I have no use for the album covers - I don't even keep them.
Can I re-enter an earlier iTunes version without losing my comments, dates, ratings, etc?  I would like to randomize the order in which songs are played wittin their playlists and I don't waant to lose th  I would much prefer this to the current tedious sytem today.
    Thank you so much
PS  A bit of Mac history on its birthday.  II had one of the first 50 Macs sold in the Washington area and made good use of it the very first time I sat down to try it.  It was very expensive, over $4000 and worth every penny. I was running the office of a group of people running for political office as a team.  The artist we had hired to design political flyers for each of them did not do her job, and I was able, the first time I ever touched a Mac, to design and print 20-odd flyers, with no  trouble at allI I was enchanted, and have never used anything other than a Mac ever since.

iTunes will always store the backups to the same drive or partition it is installed on. A couple things that might help:
-If you have multiple backups sitting there you can delete extraneous ones by opening itunes and click on the Edit menu and choosing Preferences. In the window that cames up click the Devices tab and delete the backups you don't need.
-Alternately you can move the backup files to a different location. Use this article to locate the backup files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
-If there is really not enough room on that drive, just uninstall itunes and reinstall it onto the larger drive. Make sure to follow the steps in this article if you uninstall:

Why is your iTunes account costing you anything?  It only costs something when you buy apps, movies or music.  Are you not capable of controlling your spending?

  • Performance of Collection Types

    Hiya,
We are having severe performance problems using collections in one part of our system. I was hoping that someone may have some suggestions re init.ora parameters, memory allocation etc etc.
The situation is - we have a form which is based on a view. This view in turn is based on a collection within a package specification on the database. This collection is populated before the user enters the form by a call to code on the database, let us call this create_collection. The create_collection code runs a SQL statement which does a CAST( MULTISET and SELECTs from 3 inline views, each of which itself joins to another collection via TABLE(CAST. It should be noted that one of the inline views is joining to a table of size 9 and a half million rows, which is large for our application. Having said that, I have explain planned the code and the execution plan is correctly using the appropriate indexes when you remove the TABLE( CASTS from the from clause of the SQL.
As a temporary solution we could change the view to be based on a series of temporary tables ( which is populated for each user on a session by session basis ). Having benchmarked this we found that performance changed from 90 seconds to query the view using collections, to 0.4 second to query the view when all collections are removed and temporary tables subsituted instead.
Obviously this is a good solution, however the changes required across our system would be numerous to say the least. We use collections extensively elsewhere within the system and have not encountered this performance issue before, having said that nowhere else do we use CAST( MULTISET and TABLE(CAST within the same SQL statement.
So, my question is - does anyone have any tips for increasing the performance of collections when the underlying SQL is processing large volumes of data.
    Cheers
    Chris

No. Java handles memory alignment internally, you should not be worrying about that yourself. Whatever you think you can do, Java does it better. A lot better. Write dumb code in stead to help the JVM optimize.

  • Disable the account delegation rights for EA and DA accounts.

I need assistance with setting group policy to disable delegation rights for enterprise and domain admins accounts.

    Hello,
that account groups are the highest admins in the complete forest(enterprise admins), means ALL domain in that forest and the domain admins are highest accounts in the domain.
So whatever restriction you set. A member from that groups can revert every setting you make.

  • Installation of SAP Business One client and required administration rights

    Dear community,
I would like to kindly ask you for your feedback on the installation of SAP Business One client and its patches on end-user computers.
The pain points I have heard so far are the following:
    - The installation of SAP Business One client and its patches has to be started by a user with administrator rights.  As far as I know (and please correct me if I am wrong), this is also required in case of installation of any other software.
    - End users usually do not have administrator rights and therefore the SAP Business One clients have to be manually upgraded by administrator.  This is time consuming (and therefore costly) activity.
We are considering to design a new solution which would overcome the above limitations.
I would like to confirm with you if my understanding is correct:
    Question 1:
Is it a common situation that the end-users of SAP Business One client do not have administrator rights and therefore cannot install the patches of SAP Business One client by themselves?
If yes, how do you resolve this currently?
    Question 2:
Do you use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Active Directory (or any other 3rd party solution) to automatically distribute software packages and updates to client PCs at your customers?
    Question 3:
If the SAP Business One client installation (and its patches) is delivered as MSI package with silent installation capability, would you be able to automate the deployment of B1 client updates to client PC using the abovementioned technologies? Or can you still see some obstacles?
    Thank you
    Best regards
    Jan Ruzarovsky
    SAP Business One Product Management

    Dear all,
Thank you very much for your comments, very helpful!
@Marco - SAP Business One 8.8 client currently does not support the silent installation / upgrade. However we are currently considering this requirement and we would like to deliver it as soon as possible.
We are currently considering several possible designs. One of them is as follows:
    1. A new SAP Business One Updater Service will be installed on each client workstation.
It will be a windows service installed and running under a local system account.
    2. The updater service will check regularly if there are any new patches of SAP Business One client or add-ons uploaded to a configured shared directory.
    3. If a new patch is found in the shared directory, the updater service will SILENTLY install the new patch (add-ons, SAP Business One) on the client workstation.
The service would be able to install patches even if nobody is logged in.
    Questions:
If we consider the above design, there are a few open topics:
    1. During the upgrade of the SAP Business One server, the client patches (and SAP add-on patches, partner add-ons) would be placed to a SHARED directory instead of into SBO-Common (as it is implemented currently).
    - Does this have any impact on your tools, processes or add-ons?
    2. SAP Business One upgrade wizard will put the latest patch of SAP Business One client into a configured shared directory. The shared directory will have to be read-only for everybody in the network to avoid that the valid installation files are replaced by malware or virus infected files
    - Can you configure such a shared directory?
From customer perspective, if a new patch is put into the shared directory, the updater service can behave as follows:
    1. Manually initiated upgrade of the client
Example: Customer starts the old (not upgraded) SAP Business One client. The client will inform him/her that a new patch has been found and it has to be installed in order to continue working with the client. After customer clicks "Yes", the upgrader service starts the silent installation of the client and informs customer about the progress. Once the upgrade is finished, the upgraded SAP Business One client will be started automatically.
    2. Automatic update:
       - Update the client automatically (e.g. overnight) if customer is not working with SAP Business One
       - If SAP Business One client is running, ask customer if he/she wishes to upgrade the client now or to delay the upgrade by X minutes.
Question: Which of the above two scenarios would you and your customers prefer?
If the upgrade is fully silent, automated and handled by the upgrader service, Is it acceptable for customers to trigger the installation manually and wait till the client is upgraded? Or would they prefer to have the client updated for them e.g. overnight so they can immediately start to work?
    Best regards

  • PS12 worked yesterday, today "required sign-in for trial version", uninstalled and reinstalled and now Editor won't open, however Organizer will open, using PC Windows 7-64bit

Read several posts that others are having same issue.  Tried changing preferences, but administrator file is empty.  I do have PS7 and can work with that, but I paid for PS12 should be able to use it.  I'm having same issue with PE12.  What happened from last night to today?  Can anyone help?  Thank you.  Melz

Do you have QuickTime installed? If not, install it or Repair it.
To Repair, START/CONTROL PANEL/PROGRAM n FEATURES/highlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.
Another thing to check is see whether your system is clear of Malware but you have to SCAN it in a SAFE Mode:
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to CNET's download.com to download a free version of Malwarebyte. Install and perform update immediately, then do a full SCAN. Remove malware if it indeed finds any. Restart computer to regular windows to let Malwarebyte complete the removal.
To start your computer in safe mode
    Restart computer
Press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the "safe mode with networking" option, and then press Enter.
Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your screen. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.
