Required Admin Privilges on HP OPEN VMS

Hi All -
Has anyone integrated HP Open VMS resource with IdM on any of the client engagements ? If yes, can you please provide me the details on required administrative privileges to perform provisioning/deprovisionig action on HP Open VMS through IdM. The Sun Resource Reference Guide doesn't have any section related to "Security Notes" or any details in "Usage Notes" for the required admin priviges to connect to HP Open VMS.

  • Career change from open VMS system admin

    Hello Everyone !!
I was working as a Open VMS system admin for 3 years in a top  IT company .
Now i am  looking for a change and is willing to move in SAP. I am undergoing training in SAP Basis/NW admin . Can u tell me what career path should i take with kind of exp i had and what certifications should i proceed so as to tap with the recent  market demands and also to ensure a progressive career growth in this field.
    Your suggestions are invited.
    Thanks
    Vipul

    Hi Vipul,
SAP Basis is always in demand and NW admin knowledge will give you more opportunity. Certification on SAP Basis/NW Basis will be an added advantage for you.
Even after 3 years of experience in SAP you will be as a fresher and have to work very hard to tap the knowledge.
    All the best.
    Regards,
    Subhasha

  • Although I turned off WiFi, set as 'require admin password to turn on and off wifi, when I turn on my MacBook Pro, retina latest model, just got for a month, it turns on wifi automatically, is this a back door or virus or security hole? Thank you

I have my all networks at 'Off' status in the system panel, never use Bluetooth either, also in the top status bar, and set as 'require admin password to turn on and off WiFi', but when I turn on my MacBookPro 15" retina newest model only one month old, it goes on to WiFi automatically by itself.
Is this a back door? Security hole?
The other day, I was taking a break for five minutes, when I came back, the Microsoft outlook is open for setting up an account, I never use outlook, it is there only because it comes with the office package. Also, iTunes was playing music, I don't use iTunes when I'm working. Both were not on before I left for the break.
    What is the problem?

  • Acrobat 7 requires admin password at every launch for non admin users?

acrobat 7 requires admin password at every launch for non admin users?
any one with a solution or similar problem?
    thanks for any help.

I've been avidly following all of the threads regarding this issue...yet none of the solutions have worked for me. I've got 11 Mac users that do not use the Creative Suite..only Acrobat, Quark, etc. I've tried installing and re-installing through both Admin and User accounts, I've tried the AdobeBib XML change, I've tried enabling Root and installing, changing permission on the Acrobat folder, etc. all to no avail. I still get asked for Admin Authentication every time Acrobat and Distiller are opened (except on the Admin account side). This is happening on one particular Mac (G4, 1GB Ram, OS 10.4.3) for both Acrobat Standard 6 and 7 as well. The biggest issue that also happens in tandem with the Acrobat installs is the inability to print from Quark. I get the following error when printing: "The process "pictwpstops" terminated unexpectedly on signal 6." Because of the necessity to print Quark documents, I have uninstalled all Acrobat on the machines until we can get a fix. This resolves the printing problem with Quark. The only option left is to set up all users as Admin accounts - which I really do not want to do. Any other suggestions out there? I've got more information available if needed.

  • Restriction on running Apex on Open VMS?

    Hi,
I have a client that is looking at Apex but is unsure if it is available and supported under Open VMS. They are running 10g Rel. 1.
The confusion comes from a text on the download page of Apex that says :
Note: Oracle Application Express 3.0 is supported on all Standard and Enterprise Edition versions of the Oracle database, 9.2.0.3 and higher. We specifically support the following platforms:
    Linux x86
    Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
    Mac OS X Server
    Linux on Power
    Linux x86-64
    z/Linux
    Linux Itanium
    Solaris x86
    Microsoft Windows (64-bit Itanium)
    Microsoft Windows (x64)
Solaris Operating System (SPARC) (64 bit)
    AIX5L
    HP-UX PA-RISC
    HP Tru64 UNIX
    HP-UX Itanium
It does mention that Apex is supported on ALL versions of the database but OpenVMS is not listed.
    thanks

    Hi Yvan,
APEX runs inside the database, so assuming you have a DB that meets the minimum version requirements you should be fine.
Regarding the OHS/HTTP server, you do not have to install it on the same machine, in other words you could easily install a Windows or Linux version of the OHS/HTTP Server on another machine and point it at your APEX installation in the DB.
One other think, as far as I'm aware there aren't that many other VMS users using APEX, so asking for clarification that it works might mean you have to wait a long time for someone to answer. So I'd suggest....can you not just try it yourself? (I'm pretty sure it should be fine given then previous requirements constraints).
    John.

  • Pushing out software that "requires" admin rights....

I have a piece of software that needs installed on 200 users machines....however the software requires admin rights to install. So, by using group policy, I can successfully push out the software to users that have local admin rights, but it will not install
on machines that do not have local admin rights.
Whats the best way to accomplish this without giving 200 people admin rights?

How did you create a Distribution point ?
To publish or assign a computer program, you must create a distribution point on the publishing server (I am sure, you must have done that already)
However, FYI... Here are the steps
    create a distribution point
Log on to the desired server  as an administrator.
Create a shared network folder where you will put the Microsoft Windows Installer package (.msi file) that you want to distribute.
Set permissions on the share to allow access to the distribution package.(Authenticated Users should have
    READ permissions)
Copy or install the package to the distribution point.
    Assign a Package
Computer configuration / Policies / Software Settings / Software installation
Right-click Software installation, point to New, and then click Package.
In the Open dialog box, type the full Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path of the shared installer package that you want. For example,
    \\FileServer\Share\software.msi
Important: Do not use the Browse button to access the location.
Make sure that you use the UNC path to the shared installer package.
    Click Open.
Click Assigned, and then click OK. The package is listed in the right pane of the Group Policy window.
Close the Group Policy snap-in, click OK, and then quit the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in or gpmc.
When the client computer starts, the managed software package is automatically installed.
Along with Software Distribution policy, you can set another policy "Always install with elevated privileges"
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Installer
This policy directs Windows Installer to use system permissions when it installs any program on the system.
This policy extends elevated privileges to all programs. These privileges are usually reserved for programs that have been assigned to the user (offered on the desktop), assigned to the computer (installed automatically), or made available in Add/Remove Programs
in Control Panel. This policy lets users install programs that require access to directories that the user might not have permission to view or change, including directories on highly restricted computers.
If you disable this policy or do not configure it, the system applies the current user's permissions when it installs programs that a system administrator does not distribute or offer.
Caution : Skilled users can take advantage of the permissions this policy grants to change their privileges and gain permanent access to restricted files and folders. Note that the User Configuration version of this policy is not guaranteed
    to be secure.
Important: This policy appears both in the Computer Configuration and User Configuration folders. To make this policy effective, you must enable the policy in both folders.
    Hope that helps.

Links that require a new window to open for the link won't open. I thought it was a Java issue, but I updated both Java and Firefox without any success.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Missing Required Parameter 'from' for event 'open' -- InDesign CS3 Error

Now that I've upgraded to OS 10.6, and I'm getting this weird error message (Missing Required Parameter 'from' for event 'open') when I open CERTAIN InDesign files by double-clicking on the icon. Other files open okay. Everything SEEMS to open okay when I open CS3 and go to FILE and OPEN.
Anyone else having this problem? Any advice?

I was having this problem too and then noticed that the files that would not open had special characters in the name, # or % for example.
I changed the name to exclude these characters and they all opened just fine.
If that doesn't work, it may be, if you use it, Suitcase Fusion. Extensis says that if your computer name is too long or also has special characters in it that it could be a problem in OSX 10.5 and later. Go into System Preferences/Sharing and edit your name to within 20 simple characters.
    I hope this helps.

  • User requires ADMIN privilege to perform this operation.

    Hi
I have written a procedure which creates a new workspace. The owner of the package has been granted apex_administrator_role. This works fine with SQL Developer/Plus.
But when I try to use this procedure from my Apex page I get User requires ADMIN privilege to perform this operation.
I understand that Apex makes a connection with APEX_PUBLIC_USER, and this can be one of the reasons of the error. But I would like to know if there is some solution:
    My code is:
          apex_instance_admin.add_workspace (
            p_workspace          => p_name,
            p_primary_schema     => p_name,
            p_additional_schemas => '');
--p_name is passed as a parameter and workspace and primary_schema name are the sameHabib

I think you will need to grant privleges to apex_instance_admin directly to the owner of the package.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14072_01/network.112/e10574/authorization.htm#BABFJEGJ
The privileges of the procedure's definer must be granted directly to the user, not granted through roles.

  • Default admin user can't open apps which other user can

    hi all,
running os x 10.9.4, my default admin user account cannot open several apps (for this specific question i'll use room eq wizarz as an example). however, when i log out, and log in as another user (which also has admin privilages) the app opens and runs perfectly fine...
there are several other apps with which i'm haing the same issue...
    any ideas?
    thanks in advance.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • A question for SQL*Form 3.0 (within Open VMS)

    Hi,
    I've seen a command line
    IAP_UL EVACNTDIR:REPORT_PAR
within a SQL*form. Since it's within Open VMS, I do not know how to refer to such place - 'EVACNTDIR'.
    Does anyone know this?
    Thks & Rgds,
    HuaMin

Based on the statement 'EVACNTDIR' appears to be an OpenVMS logical which is similar to a shortcut or alias in other operating systems that would contain a disk and directory. You can find out what it is really accessing by doing a SHOW LOGICAL EVACNTDIR at the OpenVMS propmt.

  • How do I solve the following message from Code Blocks on a OS X (10.10.2): "Agreeing to the Xcode/iOS license requires admin privileges, please re-run as root via sudo." ?. It appears when I try to compile any code.

Whenever I try to compile any code the following messagem appears: "greeing to the Xcode/iOS license requires admin privileges, please re-run as root via sudo."
I'm using CodeBlocks v. 13.12. Its file (codeblocks-2.app) is inside the App folder.

I suggest you ask whomever makes CodeBlocks.
They would be the most knowledgeable.

  • Installer requires Admin Privilege to run

I'm a new user on a Macbook. Its been about 20 years since I last was on an apple. I need help, I'm trying ton install a game on my laptop. When I click on the installer to install the game a window pops up saying "installer requires Admin privilege to run" and the only option is to quit. What do I need to do to get this game installed?
    Thanks so much!!

/Applications/Utilities/Disc Utility - a very handy tool in all sorts of situations.
I'm most surprised that a new account with admin permissions wasn't able to perform the install I'm at a loss what might be causing that to be honest ... maybe the repair permissions on the drive will sort it out, perhaps the entire folder has had write access removed somehow. You could select the destination folder location and Get Info on it and look at the permissions settings at the bottom, does it allow any user to Write there or is it Read only I wonder ?
