Required business scenarios (Functional spec) related to MDM

Hi,
I am new to MDM,
1) What are the different business requirement we get from cleint.
2) How to proceed with that business requirement and desing the same in MDM.
Can any body send me the sample functional specification and technical specification for the same.
My id u will get it in my business card.

          Functional spec is the one how you implement required Business scenario.After taking inputs of the current Business functionality,the Functional Consultant will make the Functional spec.
          All the Functional specs are private and confidential not be shared.

    The function spec will be preparedf by respective functional consultant in the Implementation as well as in the support project.
    For example
    The requirement is related to SD,Sd consultant need to prepare.
    Functional spec is the formated document which communicate to technical consultant about the requirement.
    The functional spec template will be changed company to company.
    In the Implementation and support the format of the document i.e objective of the document will be the same but the requirements will be differ.

  • Activate Business Scenario Configuration Error in SCL SOAMANAGER

    Hi Holger,
    With your assistance, I managed to solve my issue creating the business scenario as posted in
    Re: 3.3.8 Create a Business Scenario Configuration .
    However, now I face another situation.
    Once I have created the 3 required business scenario's on my SCL, I then proceed to activate them.
    I face the similar error as posted by Simon Kemp previously on Activate Logical Ports Fails with UDDI error
    Error Message:
    Activate logical ports for service group /IWCNT/BPC_SERVICE_GROUP and application PS_ER4_100/APP_ER4CLNT100 in scenario STARTER_SERVICES
    I have created the SAPLOGONPROFILE version 1, exported from the backend and imported into the SCL. The versions are the same.

    Can you take a look at the chapters:
    7. An unexpected error occurred while executing the specified Action
    18. When opening a Workspace in the Start Services scenario you get an unexpected error occurred
    Maybe when you look through the Analysis and Resolution you get some points.
    If it does not help please provide more information of the error that you get when activating the service.

    Hi Experts,
    Could you guys please tell me what are the business scenarios (in sap sd) i should use while implementing in plastic industry (as if someone already worked on implementation project at plastic industry).....
    As per my knowledge i would use:
    MTS
    Batch management
    Third party etc....
    but in addition to these (if anyone already worked on the implementation project in plastic industry...then what are the business scenario used for......please suggest.....)

    it depends which part of the value chain you are working at e.g. your company is B2B, supplying ingredients to Plastic industry manufacturer or you sell to wholesellers.
    Below are the processes you - may - do in Plastic industry -
    - Inter-company stock transfer
    - Subcontracting
    - Contracts
    - QM inspection during delivery process
    If you require business scenario descriptions (in brief) for the above processes, then please convey.

  • What business scenario require both of these setting

    Hi QM gurus,
    May I know if system allows both the Physical Sample Drawing and Sample Determination to happen at the sametime.
    In another word, I assign sampling procedure using sampling schema for the activity of sample size, and in the meantime, there is a physical Sample Type being assign to the inspection type.
    Thus under the above scenario both the physical sample drawing and sample size determination will take place during inspection lot creation.
    I would assume system would allow this kind of setting to happen in the system, but my question is under what kind of business scenario does the this kind of setting (ie. both functions: physical sample drawing and sample size determination) require?

    Hi
    When you are using a sampling derawing procedure in the Task list then You have to use the Inpsection point related to physical sampling.
    Now when you use Inspection point with physical sampling the sample size at the char level will only be determined by sampling procudre & sample size of the lot will be determined by sample drawing procedure.
    so in short sampling procedure in applied at char level & sample drawing procdure is for lot level(sample size).

  • How to know the function or business scenario of certain field?

    hi experts!
    What should i do when i want to know the function or business scenario of certain field but there is only the defination of this field in SAP HELP???
    eg.
    What shou i do when i want to know the fuction or effact of the field "vendor" in customer master,general data,control tabpage.
    In other words, i  want to know what will happened to the customer master if i entry a vendor number in the field "vendor".
    The HELP is just tell me about the field "vendor"'s defination.
    I've tried using SE11 to verify "where-used list" of the field "vendor", however, there is only the list but any fruther information about how it works and the business scenario it is used.
    please help me, I have been  puzzled for a long time.

    Hi,
    This is in fact related to functional knowledge which can be mapped via SAP, which means if you are able to visualize the scenarios in your domain then only you can understand the logic of every field in SAP... not only in the customer master. But as of now I can give you some idea about the Vendor filed in the customer master. This means this customer can act like as a vendor for your company.

    Business Blue print is a detailed documentation of the requirements gathered from client (The objects we need to develop are modified depending upon clients requirements).It represents the business process requirements of the company.  It is an agreed statement of how the company intends to run its business within SAP system.
    Functional specifications (functional specs), in the end, are the blueprint for how you want a particular report and transaction to look and work. It details what the report will do, how a user will interact with it, and what it will look like. By creating a blueprint of the report or transaction first, time and productivity are saved during the development stage because the programmers can program instead of also working out the logic of the user-experience. It will also enable you to manage the expectations of your clients or management, as they will know exactly what to expect. Functional Spec streamlines the development process.
    A functional specification  is a formal document used to describe in detail for software developers a product's intended capabilities, appearance, and interactions with users. It guidelines and continuing reference point as the developers write the programming code.
    Other processes include Requirements, Objectives,Logic Specification,User documentation,The Final Product.

  • Steel Industry Business Scenario  and Requirement

    Dear Experts,
    Business Scenario:
    Material is procured and made Goods Receipt ,Material is issued to Shop floor.
    Shop floor records the number of cycles or heats the material has under gone  and gives a report to finance .
    based on report finance intimates supplier to collect payment for perfomance acheived .
    for 100 heats material completed , 25 % payment made up on receipt of invoice.
    for further 200 heats completed , 50 % payment made up on further receipt of invoice.
    when expected performance of material reached or crossed remaining payment of material is done up on receipt of final invoice from Supplier.
    Vendor is the owner of stock till final payment is finished .
    Requirement:
    how to map the Scenario in sap .
    whether u need to go for any specific material type to adress this issue.
    what will be procurement process and payment process , standard or any work around required .
    Please advice on this scenario.

    Dear,
    So in that case, I prefer to go for Consignment scenario.
    Consignment u2013 the vendor provides you with materials which you manage on your premises as port of consignment stock. A liability does not arise until the material is withdrawn from consignment stores.
    The stock supplied by the vendor is in the companies premises with the company having no liability for the same.  The liability for the company will only be affected when the goods are issued from the consignment stock for use.
    Create consignment info record with proper tax code, create Po with item category K, maintain output condition record for KONS, process GR, no invoice verification done, but settlement is done through MRKO transaction.
    I prefer this to be done once you receive the final report from SHOP floor. I think you got the point.
    The material is available in your company premises. Let the work perform by all departments. Untill you get the report with heat details for final payment to vendor. Start the process as mentioned above, create PO with conditions, goods receipt and settle the payments.
    I am getting this idea, any further ideas or suggestions, share.

    Functional Specs differs from client to client how they use it. Anyways from ur client u can take the specs it shd be in the Process Database.
    In general the Spec has the following info ....
    1. Process Owner.
    2. Requested by :
    3. SAP MM consultant incharge( Ur Name )
    4. Abaper, If required.
    5. Integration Team Members.
    6. AS- IS & TO- BE
    7. If any User exits or enhancements needed then mentiion in details.
        Insense the config & Tech part need to be developed shd be mentioned clearly.

  • Do we get any functional specs to work with BPS

    I am new to BPS. I have  gone through help.sap and learned how to enter plan data in real time cube (transactional)..... My doubt is when we work some where for BPS we cant just plan ourself.... Exactly what is the flow.  Do we get any functional specs. How would be a requirement for plannings (say sales planning, costcenter, liquidity..........) Please explain me according to a real time basis...........

    The program that you saw is a standard one; you just have to maintain files.
    There are few other variables for variable exits, char rels; all nice documents and I suggest you go thru them.
    Reg your other questions for plan scenarios - how to approach:
    1.first you need to understand the relationship between various entities that are involved in planing , similar to the ER stuff in data modelling.
    2.at what level planned is done; and the levels above that and the levels below that; the level at which the actual data is.
    3. look at the master data; need not have to in SAP.
    4. look at the historical plan data
    Once you know the relationship between the entiries, say country and region. In BPS there is top down distrubuton and and bottom up aggregation. The distrubution is country to regions can be done either by top down or by a planing function where you distribute the data from country to regions by means of a business logic.
    Always ensure you automate the planing functions to the extent possible. Deirve related characteristics rather than make the users enter related characteristics.

    Do we need to send the Business partner functions while creating record in R3 thru MDM.
    For any account group i pass the Idoc is expecting all Business partner functions to be defined for the account group to which am trying to create Customer.(As SH,BP,PY..)
    Can anyone please explain me in brief the Business partner function -Problem in my scenerio............................Concept of  Business Partner function while creating Customer.

    In ECC partner functions are used when you have multiple addresses for the same customer.  The partner function links those address records together.  You could have multiple unique customer numbers on the KNA1 table, but in the KNVVP table (partner functions) you maintain the linkage between the main table records. 
    Partner functions are not recommended in MDM.  These are generally not considered to be "enterprise level attributes" and therefore shouldn't reside in your customer repository in a central create scenario.  Additionally, some of the complexity required to model partner functions can't be modeled in MDM at this time.  When 7.1 comes out, there is a new data type called "tuples" which supports deeply nested structures, and therefore you could model a true partner function table inside the sales area table.
