Required locales on Solaris 10

Hi,
how can I know required locales for Solaris 10 for my SAP R/3 system 4.6C ASCII
with :
zcsa/installed_languages                    NEFDIS
install/codepage/appl_server                1100
Regards.

Start using SE38 the program RSCPINST, press on "Simulate" and check the button "check locales on operating system level".
The check will tell you if you need to add something.
All your languages use "ISO8859-1" (or ISO8859-15).

  • AIRHELP application installation requires local admin priviledge

    Hi experts, please help!
I demoed the RoboHelp 9 with Desktop AIRHELP(we need comments)  to our users and everything looked perfect, except one issue: every change from the editor, she will need to create a new .air application and someone need to go and install that file to each user's computer, and whoever go to install need to have local administrator's priviledge.
what we want is using the autoupdating function, it will definitely require local admin for each user. I am wondering how you solve this issue? as our IT department would not be happy with this requirement.
    Thanks,
    Frances

    Please see http://www.riaspace.com/2011/08/bundling-air-3-runtime-in-air-desktop- applications/
Air 3.0 allows installation of the AIR Runtime without admin rights but it requires packaging the AIR runtime inside the AIR application itself. RoboHelp AIR Help is an AIR application but the runtime is not packaged within it. There is thus no change for AIR Help. It will still require the separate installation of the runtime and the help and both will need admin rights if installed by the end user.
The help can be installed by a local IT Admin who can push the installation rather than installing it manually on each machine. That is described on my site.

You need to install packages for Northern America (nam) or find out which package contains en_US.ISO8859-1 and install that.

  • Can't create a directory local in solaris

In solaris 10 intel version, i tried to create folder name "local" under "usr" as I want to install mysql under "usr\local".
But when i created, the error message is showing like this:
    :/usr>mkdir local
mkdir: Failed to make directory "local"; Read-only file system
    any idea?
How to fix and please help me.
    Thanks.

As Robert said, the /usr file system is mounted as a loopback in the non-global zone, so any subdirectories to /usr will be mounted via loopback in the zone, and thus read-only. Check man zonecfg, Sun also has a long document online concerning containers and zones. Just google "zfs administration guide" and "zfs containers". Your other option is create the zone as a whole root zone, rather than a sparse root zone, which is what you have now.

  • Sun Live Upgrade with local zones Solaris 10

I have M800 server running global root (/) fs on local disk and running 6 local zones on another local disk. I am running solaris 5.10 8/07.
I used live upgrade to patch the system and created new BE (lucreate). Both root fs are mirror as RAID-1.
When I ran lucreate, it copies all 6 local zones root fs to the global root fs and failed no enogh space.
What is the best procedure to use lu with local zones.
Note: I used lu with global zone only, and worked without any problem.
    regards,

I have been trying to use luupgrade for Solaris10 on Sparc, 05/09 -> 10/09.
lucreate is successful, but luactivate directs me to install 'the rest of the packages' in order to make the BE stable enough to activate. I try to find the packages indicated , but find only "virtual packages" which contain only pkgmap.
I installed upgrade 6 on a spare disk to make sure my u7 installation was not defective, but got similar results.
I got beyond luactivate on x86 a while ago, but had other snags which I left unattended.

  • Opportunity SalesStage requires localized values

    Hello,
I have a problem trying to create new opportunities through the web service API. The SalesStage field for Opportunity objects appears to require a localized value. However, there's no way to programatically extract the valid values for this field. For example, on a Spanish language account "Qualified Lead" is not accepted as a valid value; however, "Cliente potencial cualificado" is. On an English system, the opposite is true.
I want to create a language independent integration application capable of creating new opportunities within Oracle CRM on Demand. The SalesStage field is required, so I need to set something. However there's no value I can set that will work across all systems, regardless of language. Neither the SalesStage field nor the SalesStageId field is a picklist, so I cannot query for an acceptable values to use. The SalesStageId field does not appear to be consistent across different systems, so I can't use that as my language independent field.
    Any ideas?
Should it be considered a bug in Oracle CRM On Demand's API that this field only accepts localized values? Many other fields, such as Activity.Priority or Activity.Status accept Language independant strings, in English only, so I never have to worry about translating their values.
    Richard

    Hi Max,
    Thanks for your reply.
The SalesStageID may be consistent within one system across different languages, but it is not consistent across different systems. I have a (potential) customer who has their own Oracle CRM setup with all their own data customizations, etc. who is connecting in Spanish. The SalesStageIDs on that system are not the same as the SalesStageIDs I'm seeing on my test system. I want to create an integration application that can connect to any customer's Oracle CRM system. I want to set the default value for the SalesStage field for new Opportunities created. I cannot just take a SalesStageID from my test system and enter it on some other system, as these IDs will not match. Furthermore, there is no way for me to query for the list of SalesStageIDs available on a system, as this field is not a picklist.
Does that clarify the issue? Any ideas?

So pl. let me know the steps to install korean locale in an installed solaris 10 machine.
    Waiting for your valuable response.

    Thanks for your replies guys.
I successfully installed Oracle9i client in Solaris 10. Initially I had to set up the Kernel parameteres as Prajeevan has suggested. Later the installation was quite staright forward and same as for Linux server.

  • Hardware requirements for Sun - Solaris

I am getting ready for a massive upgrade from 9i to 10g. I was wondering what are the hardware requirements for the management server for 10g..it will be monitoring 30 other servers with 9i / 8i / and 10g databases.

The referenced document refers to two methods of accomplishing the upgrade. One is to use the upgrade utility and the other is to manually execute the upgrade scripts. There is, however, a third way that is much easier and that gives you immediate access to all of the new features of the 10g database.
Both of the methods described in the document, which you should read no matter what you do, perform all of the upgrade changes to the existing database. This is why you cannot go directly from 7.3.4 to 10g. The scripts that are behind the process just will not run successfully in a 7.3.4 database. As a result, you would have to upgrade to 8.0.6 and then to 10g. This is the "supported" path, but you do not have to follow this path to achieve a successful upgrade.
The third upgrade scenario is to create a new 10g database using scripts that you have written that utilize all of the various new features that you would like to use such as locally managed tablespaces and undo management. Once this has been created and tuned up a bit, you would perform an export/import to get your application's code and data from the old database to the new.
In our enterprise, we have over 450 databases, and we just could not afford to take the time to follow the "supported" path. It would have taken too long, and we had only a few days to convert 272 of these with more time for the rest. As a result, we built our own create scripts for the new databases, ran those in advance of our worldwide deployment date, and then we used the export and import tools to move our application code and data. This was a lot easier than the "official" method, and it works.
The advantage to this approach is that it is straightforward and does not involve Oracle's upgrade tools which many have had problems using. The disadvantage is that you really have to know what you are doing. If you are not an experienced DBA, you may not have the wherewithal to successfully execute this method.
    Kind regards,

  • Why would a JNLP require local admin rights?

I'm working as a technical support contact for a user working on a third-party company's web app, which is a JNLP. (I.e.: this is a JNLP I have no control over and no idea how to use, but the goal is simply to get it to launch.)
When I am a local admin, I am able to run the JNLP without issue. If I am not a local admin, the application starts to load... the Web Start appears with the application's logo, name, and a few JARs being loaded. Then, nothing. It closes without any errors, and I'm unsure of where I could find any logs with a trace.
Now, here's the plot twist: the same conditions apply to the Java Console itself. That is, if I am not a local admin, and I try to run the console, Internet Explorer closes. No error, nothing in the event log.
And, another twist: as I tried this across multiple workstations (Terminal servers, actually, running Server 2003 SP2) I discovered one has a different Java build. The problem occurs across several servers running Java 1.6.0_03. The one that's running 1.5.0_09 does NOT have this problem - the JNLP runs fine, and the console runs fine. IE is the same build (5730.11) on all.
I'm not even sure where to begin. I don't know where the find relevant log files, I can't run the console, and there is no obvious way to get general support for a Java issue (technically it has nothing to do with this vendor's JNLP if even the console won't run!) except this jumble of forums. Any and all advice is appreciated.

for troubleshooting failure on particular machines, look at the FAQ:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/javaws/developersguide/faq.html#602
But it seems like your problems are sooner than would result in any trace file output.
If the browser cannot show the java console, then it fails to initialize the java plug-in, so I would suggest trying stand alone java applications.
1.) can you launch from a command line "java -version"
2.) if you can, can you launch "java java.awt.Frame" it should reply NoSuchMethodError: "main" .
3.) if that works, try downloading the JDK and run a stand alone demo application from the demos directory such as SeingSet2.
(cd into C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04\demo\jfc\SwingSet2 , and run "java -jar SwingSet2.jar"
If you can't do all of that, then java install is messed up, and so you would have no chance of running applets or jnlp applications.
by the way, what os and hardware are you running on, and what version(s) of java are installed.
    /Andy

  • Japanese locale on Solaris 8

I have a Solaris 8 machine, on which I have a web application that takes up data stored in UTF-8 from Oracle and shows that on a web page in SHIFTJIS encoding.
This application displays the data correctly when run on windows machine but gives problem on Solaris 8.
    Any ideas?

you only need libumem if the program that generated the core file had
    loaded libumem.
libumem is available from Solaris 9 and is an alternative malloc library that works like the kernel memory allocator allowing good debugging and memory leak checking amongst its benefits. If you need libumem features to be able to debug the program then you will need some
new core files with libumem loaded ( solaris 9 and later).
to see what libraries were loaded in your program before the core files use "pldd core"
to see the stack traces run "gcore core"
to debug the cores use "mdb program core"

  • Local user provisioning requires local administrator privileges?

    Hello,
Scenario: User-A needs to provision User-B as a local administrator on a Windows 2008R2 server.
Is there a way for User-A to do this without User-A being a member of the local Administrators or Domain Admin group on the said server?
    Thanks

Is it not possible to make user A part of the administrators group?
If you are trying to work around the fact that user A does not have administrative rights over the box then  your first course of action is to give user A administrative rights. There are several ways to do this.
Perhaps a more in depth explanation of why user B has to have administrative rights given to him by user A we may be able to come up with a solution or workaround.
