Required ports to be open on the firewall?

Hello everyone,
I'm sure this question has been answered earlier but I wasn't lucky enough to find it! I evern tried to look into metalink but I couldn't find anything useful.
I have an OCS Rel2 installation ready and it is time to have it public on the internet. I have my servers placed in DMZ but I want to know what ports need to be open on the firewall? Are they 7777 and 7778 only?! I doubt it!
I would really appreciate a point to a relevant document or whatsoever.
Thanks in advance.

Depends on what parts of OCS you are going to need remotely...If you go to http://yoursite:7778/ and then go to the Ports tab, there will be a listing...
For my config we have the following ports open...but if you are just going to use the webmail/webcal then you only need 7777-7779
smtp - 25
imap - 143
5730 - cal server
7777-7779 - Apache Midtier
2400 - iMeeting

  • Our IT Director will not allow the appropriate TCP and UDP ports to be opened on the district WAN

I have about 30 Apple TV Units and our IT Director will not allow the appropriate TCP and UDP ports to be opened on the district WAN.  When our teachers try to log on to Apple TV to broadcast lessons, websites, etc., they are booted off the network after about 20 minutes.
Any ideas for how I might solve this without having to hard-wire the Apple TV Units?

    Honestly, you do not.
Either the IT director will cave and allow the appropriate ports or it doesn't work.
Hard wiring the ATVs will not rectify the problem.

  • Ports to be opened on Outer firewall in DMZ

    Hi,
We are planning for an Internet facing portals for which we are putting the SAP Web Dispatcher in the DMZ and the portal and backend systems behind the inner firewall. We have a EP7 connecting to ECC6 and BI systems.
Can anyone tell me if it is sufficient if we open the webdispatcher HTTP/HTTPS port on the outer firewall and the integrated ITS & WAS ports on the inner firewall ?
In short what all ports do i need to open on inner and outer firewalls of DMZ so that SAP transaction iviews & BI iviews are rendered on the internet facing portals.
    Thanks!!

    Hi
yes opening ports in inner firewall is sufficient...ur sap webdispatcher acts like a sap router , from ur web dispatcher machine u should be able access every thing and HTTP/S ports 80 and 81 should be opened on the machine for outer fire wall..
Ask ur basis consultant for more information.. from Netweaver2004s  ucan use webdispatcher..

  • WRT350N Leaving Port 21 Wide Open with SPI Firewall Enabled

I just ran Shields Up and noticed port 21 (FTP) is wide open, while all the other ports marked as stealthed.
The router is a Linksys WRT350N with the latest firmware 1.03.2.  SPI Firewall is enabled and it's blocking "Anonymous Internet Request."
Am I missing something here?  Why isn't port 21 being stealthed along with all the other ports?  I've run this test before with other Linksys routers and all the ports are stealthed so I'm concerned now.
    https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
Anyone else with the same router and configuration please run the Shields Up port scan at GRC to see if your port 21 is open and report back.  Thanks!

Linksys told me that that port had to "stay" open, it is part of the FTP service when you attach the USB storage device.  After a lengthy amount of time on the phone, I had to suggest maybe a flash update.  But they would not put anyone on the phone to convince me they had a grasp on thiss issue, SO I FIGURED IT OUT.  Access the router.  Select "Storage", then select "Administration",  There you find "Internet Access".  Unselect "Enable" and obviously select "Disable".  Port 21 now in Stealth.  Now who can take it futher and figure out port forwarding/triggering for when one will start to use server?  Max

  • Specify the port number to go through the firewall

I noticed the ibm application server gives option to specify the listener port for EJB using this parameter -Dcom.ibm.CORBA.ListenerPort=8888 .
Can I do the same thing for Sun Application Server?

    org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort
This is only for the initial connection. After the ejb container receives the call, it is going to communicate with the connecting client using random port number.

  • What ports are required to be open on a firewall for UCCX ver7 Backups

I'm trying to setup a backup location on UCCX version 7.
The backup storage location and the UCCX server are seperated by a firewall.
What ports are required to be opened on the firewall to allow the backups through to the backup location.
    Can't find any info online

Try it locally on the server itself.
You just need to create a shared directory backup oon the server on C:\ drive.
    \\127.0.0.1\C$\backup
    This should work.

    Hi ,
May I know what ports need to be open at the firewall in order the TED

I suspect it is firewall problem because the inventoried server which

I am trying to tether my Blackberry Pearl to my PC using Blackberry Desktop Manager.  The phone is recognised and connected. I choose the Vodaphone Contract connection profile but keep getting a message that "the specified port is not open".  The RIM virtual modem ports used are COM3 and COM4 and my modem is configurred as COM 3 ,
Is there a port conflict with something on my PC ? or something that I can do to force a port open ?

    Hi Don,
I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.

  • How to be sure port 10443 is open on  vintage airport extreme ( ufo shape, not square)

My Denon 2112 AV reciever is having intermittent internet connect  issues. Denon says to be sure port 10443 in my router  is open. How do I check this and see if it is open on my vintage (ufo/dome shape) airport extreme?

To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <skip this setting as you will be custom configuring which ports you need opened for the TiVo>
o Public UDP Port(s): <enter the appropriate UDP port values>
o Public TCP Port(s): <enter the appropriate TCP port values>
o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>

  • Required Ports

OK, I have a question regarding the ports for ZLM. Please do NOT refer me to the documentation as I've read it but it does not specify if the traffic needs to be bi-directional or just one way (either from client to server or server to client). The two ports that I have questions about are 2544 and 8089. Specifically, do we need to allow 2544 and 8089 from the clients to the server only, have the ports open both ways or just need communication from the server to the clients on those ports?
    TIA

Regarding port 8089 I'm not sure but it looks like that that port must be open on the ZLM server for incoming connections. I think no outgoing are needed.

  • I need to open specific ports in the firewall - how do you do that?

    Hi There,
I'm trying to setup a web development server on a spare mac mini but I can't figure out how to open ports for the MySQL server under Snow Leopard.
Is there a way to do this? I've set the firewall to allow MAMP to open ports whenever it needs to but when I do a port scan of the Mac mini the MySQL port doesn't show up - SSH, HTTP and VNC do however.
I'm happy to configure it via the Terminal but I can't find any info on how to do this in Snow Leopard as I think it's different from Leopard (based on what I've found online).
    e.g.
    $ ipfw show
    Gives me an error:
    "ipfw: socket: Operation not permitted"
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers
    Ben

After digging around it looks like Snow Leopard doesn't use ipfw for opening ports.
Does anyone know how to open ports in Snow Leopard? Apple don't seem to have any info on this - besides the allow incoming connections for certain applications.
Will try WaterRoof and see what happens.
    Cheers
    Ben

  • Can I open a port range in the firewall for one host?

Can I open a port range in the firewall for one host?  In other words, I want to be able to open ports 54001 to 54050 to allow one remote host in my LAN to access that port range in my Mac Server.  Is this possible?  Currently, the only option I see is to open individual ports for all external hosts (eg http or https)
    Thanks in advance!

Which version of OS X Server are you using?
Server 2.2 and earlier includes an interface to a software firewall that can be configured to open specific ports very easily. Descriptions of how to configure the firewall can be found in the documentation for these versions.
Server 3.x no longer has an interface to the software firewall - it is still there, but you need to use other methods do configure it.  A popular example of such a method is the icefloor utility.
Apple suggest that for Server 3 you delegate firewall duties to an external router.  Server 3 includes the ability to configure the firewall component of Apple Airport routers 'automatically'
if you connect a machine running Server 3 directly to an Airport Router the router appears in the LH pane in the Server.app window (usually second line, below the entry for the server itself), and you can control what services are 'enabled' through the firewall there.
a more common solution perhaps is to use a non-apple router, and configure the firewall (and so open specific ports) through whatever control interface is provided for that router.  There are many many kinds of hardware router you could use, and the control interfaces used vary widely - so you will have to consulting the documentation for your own router to work out how to do this.
If you post information about your software versions, and hardware configuration, it is possible that you can get more specific help with the tasks involved in opening the ports.
    Hope this helps.

  • Opening a port in the firewall

I want to be able to use pulptunes, but I need to be able to open a port in my firewall (15000), how do I go about this?

    erikagwen,
Leopard has a new "Application Firewall." What this means for you is that it will automatically configure itself to allow your application to communicate, opening ports as needed, provided you authorize it to do so. When you first launch the application, the firewall will detect the "sockets" that it creates, and ask if you wish to allow it to accept outside requests.
It is also likely that you are behind a router, which will be running its own firewall. For this, you'll need to first determine the ports involved, then check and follow your router's documentation for forwarding those ports to your computer.

  • AD Authentication Too Slow With Required Ports Open

    Hi,
I have a server (2008 R2) in DMZ network and the domain controller (also 2008 R2) is sitting in the internal network. There is no domain or domain controller in DMZ network, only one domain in internal network. The server in DMZ is a domain member. I opened
all the necessary ports through firewall mentioned in below article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772723%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
When I use domain credentials to log on to the server in DMZ, it successfully logs in but takes about 5 mins for the log in process to complete! As a test, I opened ANY (all ports) and then log in takes only a few seconds (normal time).
Can someone tell me whats the reason? Is the above mentioned article missing ports that should also be opened?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes the old ephemeral port range is required. See below thread which should help you further.
