  • Java 1.5 rpm install on Suse Linux 9.3

    Hi all,
I downloaded the jdk-1_5_0_17-linux-i586.rpm from SUN, and tried to install it via YaST on my Suse 9.3 box, but it won't install.
I click "Install Package with YaST" and then it just brings me to a blank screen.
Anyone else experience similar issues, or thoughts to workaround this?
    Cheers
    John

    Figured it out... thanks anyways.
If anyone else has a similar problem: First, run rpm -i on the jdsk.rpm, and make sure it passes the checksum. (Mine did not). Then, check to see if jdk1.5.0_17 was installed already via rpm command line util, instead of yast. Suse doesn't like it when you do that, and they don't play well together (yast and rpm command line).
I ran rpm -e on the package to remove it, and then ran the yast installer to re-install the jdk 1.5, and it is working now.

  • Urgent: Plugin for Apache on SuSE Linux

I am trying to install weblogic Plug-In for Apache 1.3.22 on SuSE linux. I installed
apache, got the mod_wl.so from weblogic6.1/lib/linux folder. No problems in installing.
    It added
    'LoadModule weblogic_module libexec/mod_wl.so'
I noticed that it did not add
    'AddModule mod_weblogic.c'.
Anyway I tried running ./apachectl configtest and I get follwing error message:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_wl.so into server: /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_wl.so:
ELF file data encoding not big-endian
I added the line 'AddModule mod_weblogic.c', but I still get the same error. What
is going on. Please help immediately. This is extremely urgent.

    Hi
You can directly update configuration files, and at least restart the listnener.
    %ORACLE_HOME%\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora
    (HOST = 1st_host_Physical_name)
    %ORACLE_HOME%\NETWORK\ADMIN\sqlnet.ora
    (HOST = 1st_host_Physical_name)
Also make sure that if instance parameter "local_listener" is set it is using physical hostname.

  • MICR font not displayed in PDF on SUSE Linux Server for Check Writer (XML)

We are generating checks by running the Check Writer(XML) concurrent request and are not able to see MICR fonts on the Check. We downloaded the free version from IDAutomationSMICR.ttf and the fonts were registered under /usr/local/fonts/micr directory. I registered in APPS and uploaded the file IDAutomationSMICR.ttf. Am I missing any steps. The DBA's have registered the fonts under /usr/local/fonts/micr on SUSE Linux Server . The custom Checks are generated but no luck with the fonts. Please advise. Can I download MICR fonts other than IDAutomation site? Appreciate your response.
    Thanks,
    Hari

I use version 11i, so the steps are probably different. Download a font file (gnuMICR for me). Extract it to a location of your choice on your operating system.
Follow these steps to load the MICR font to the server. (Step 11 was missing in some of the metalink documents in late 2007. I think Jan. 2008 will be OK).
    1.     Log in as XML Publisher Administrator.
    2.     Navigate to Administration->Font Files->Create Font File.
    3.     Fields are Font Name and File. For Font Name choose any descriptive name. File will browse your PC to locate the font file.
    4.     Navigate to Font Mappings->Create Font Mapping Set.
    5.     Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts. [MICR Font]
    6.     Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set. [MICR]
    7.     Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
    8.     Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add multiple fonts to a set).
    9.     Font Family is the exact same name you see in Word under Fonts. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime. [GnuMICR]
    10.     Style and weight must also match how you use the font in Windows. Normal and Normal are good defaults. [Normal, Normal]
    11.     DO NOT enter Language or Territory
    12.     Choose a value for Font Type. [Truetype]
    13.     Search for the Font you just created in step 3. [GnuMICR]
    14.     Navigate to Configuration -> FO Processing -> Font Mapping Set. Can also be done at data def and template level under Edit Configuration. Hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    15.     Select your new mapping set.
    16.     Make sure the font is not referenced under File->Properties->Custom in the RTF template file.
    17.     Select a temporary directory on your concurrent processing node (Configuration -> General). This needs to be a private area not shared by other processes, read writeable by the applmgr (owner of the $APPL_TOP file system). It should be fairly large 5 GB or 20x larger than any datafile being used. The fonts will be downloaded here the first time they are used.
    18.     Also at this site level select your font mapping set.
    19.     Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview.

    Hi SAP Guru's
We are in the process of Installing SAP Netweaver SR3 on the suse linux 10.2 on the x86_64 Machine.
We are unable to findout compatable jdk whcih will support this plateform.
Please suggest where from we can download JDK.

    Hi,
You can download and install it using YaST (Software/Software Management) in Suse 10.2.
You can install the Java packages with YaST. If you choose Filter "Search" and enter "Sun" you'll quickly find them.
Suse only supports up to 1.5 if you want 1.6 you must get it from the Java site.
You can also search around this following FTP Link.

  • How can i build RPMs file for my own Java Application?

How can i build RPMs file for my own Java Application?....I have my own directory that contains all Java Source files and some files that my Application required....I want to build RPMs file like a install File to Linux System, Now my OS is Linux Fedora core 1.....How can i do this?

I think that in order to create a RPM, you'd need to
use some C.Nope - the RPM is all about packaging and the "magic" x.spec file. You can have anything you want in the RPM, but you have to use RPM tools to build the .rpm file. One of the features is that you can also indicate (via "install" scripts) modifications to other files or the filesystem to support the installation of whatever's in the RPM.

  • Required RPM'S to install ECM 11.1.1.5 on Linux box

I am trying to install oracle ECM 11.1.1.5 on linux os, before installaion i need to check RPM'S on linux box
where I can the get the required RPM'S parameter inforamation,

I believe it's a certified combination, but I didn't have great luck with Windows 2003 64-bit. Perhaps you'll have better luck with Windows 2008.
I tried doing an installation on Windows 2003 64-bit connecting to an 11.2 Oracle DB on Solaris, and had problems during the installation. The installer totally failed with the 64-bit Oracle client installed. It made better progress with the 32-bit client, but evenutally errored with a 32-bit/64-bit version mismatch when loading the library. I opened a case with Oracle support. We did several web sessions so they could observe. Ultimately they suggested that I should do the installation with the 32-bit client, wait for it to fail with the version mismatch, uninstall the 32-bit client, install the 64-bit client, and complete the installation. Seemed a bit kludgy to me, so I reverted to Windows 2003 32-bit, which worked just fine.

However, the Red Hat (and associated downstream compilations like CentOS and Oracle Linux) don't use DKMS. What you want is to install kernel-devel so it builds the full kernel modules, not the DKMS module. We provide the kernel-devel package for Oracle Linux on the install media, on ULN and via our public yum repository at http://public-yum.oracle.com
