Requirement specs for high-res end product

I am producing a short corporate in Premiere Elements 8 using a combination of an existing MPEG and a series of JPEGs. I have only ever produced videos for the web before, but the the finished product will be projected onto a large screen. I would like to avoid pixellation as much as possible. Could anyone advise me as to what the best input and output settings would be for this?
Thanks in advance.

Exactly how will the signal be fed to the projector, i.e. from a DVD-Video in a DVD player, through a laptop, etc.? Will you have to provide the AV file to a laptop, other than one that you use, such as an unknown laptop at a conference?
The exact delivery scheme and the mechanics of this can dictate a lot. That, and the questions that Neale asked. If your MPEG is say DVD-Video resolution, there is nothing to be gained by going HD, as it will be SD and will determine the resultant quality. It will also dictate your Project Preset. You can then Scale your JPEG's to match that.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Is PS ready for high-res laptop screens?

I am considering buying Dell Precision M3800 but the I am really worried that it won't be usable for PS.
Has there been any improvement in this issue?

Photoshop CS6 won't scale and won't be patched to scale. Only CC 2014 has the 200% adjustment so you can read the interface on the M3800 laptop.
    Photoshop CC (v 14) won't either. CC 2014 (v15) will.
I'm not familiar with other programs in CS6, so you have to ask in their respective forums.
The other bad news is that files you see in your old laptop at 100% will appear half-sized on a high dpi screen. So I don't know how M3800 users get around that.

  • Please Recommend Hardware for High-Res Digital Painting

I'd like to create high-res paintings in Photoshop (8000px x 6000px +), but there is a slight lag. Do you think upgrading my memory or video card will increase performance?
I'm currently running a custom PC that I purchased in 2011:
+ Operating System: OEM Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
    + Motherboard: GigaByte GA-870A-UD3 Rev.3.1
    + Processor: 3.3 GHz AMD Phenom II x6 1100T
    + Memory: 4GB (2x2GB) Crosair Dominator DDR3/1600MHz
    + Video Card: 1GB EVGA GTX 560Ti
+ Hard Drive: 120GB Intel SSD 510 Series
+ Power Supply: 600 Watt Corsair

Thanks. The manufacturer reports that 32 GB may be used (4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memor): GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-870A-UD3 (rev. 3.1)

  • Help needed for high res windows compatible

    Hi guys,
Could really do with some help. I'm failry new to video editing and I have been asked to supply a high res movie that is compatible in windows. Are there any settings in Compressor that allow you to do this? My movie is currently in FCP 6, its 1440 x 1080.
If there is a setting that allows a high res format in both mac and windows, that would be even better!
    Any help would be appreciated!

H.264 with the data between 1500 and 2000 should give you great results.
Unless the PC people don't have QT this should never be an issue.
If people don't need full res you may want to go down to 1280x720.
If your show was really long file size could become an issue but a 10 minute show with AAC 128 audio should come in under 100MB at 1280x720.

  • Swapping low res for high res footage in iMovie 11?

I have been using iMovie HD and 11 for a while now and somehow I missed the whole "convert your footage before you edit" train. I have edited several videos, all of which I was importing and editing the GoPro footage without converting it to Apple Prores like I learned I should be doing. So, obviously, I have learned the error of my ways and I am now converting all my footage prior to editing.
Is there any way to save all my old videos? Is there a way to do a one to one swap of all the footage? I vaguely remember reading on a forum that someone was editing in a compressed format and then prior to exporting somehow swapping all the footage to save time on the front end and to spare his computer and iMovie the trouble of using those huge files.
Is this ringing a bell with anyone?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

To my knowledge, imovie 6 will not do this.
iMovie 11 will allow you to select an h.264 file (or Event) and optimize it to Apple Intermediate Codec. If you do it this way, your project will be intact, and your h.264 clips will go to the Movies/iMovie Original Movies folder.
iMovie 11 will only be able to use ProRes 422 if you have Final Cut Pro installed on the same Mac. iMovie will not automatically optimize to ProRes 422.
Final Cut Pro will allow a lot of flexibility in swapping media. You can edit in Pro Res Lite and then switch to Full Pro Res when you are ready to make the final movie, for example.

  • Looking for High Res Image of FBI Warning

    Hi Gang
Does anyone know where you can get a High Resolution Image of the standard FBI Warning Disclosure which appears at the beginning of a Video?
    Thanx
    Mike

You can't just use the FBI version wthout permission and those dudes are the wrong people to mess with.
Now, you could just do a copypasta of the regular warning which can be found [here|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVDConsumerRights] into Photoshop and make it whatever res you want.

  • Export settings for high res playback.

Good afternoon.  This is my first post.
I am editing a video that i shot with a canon 60d.  files are .mov and the sequence is two hour long.
I am using a pc with i5-3570k, 8gb ram, nvidia gtx 660 2 gb and 1tb 7200 rpm hdd. editing on premier 7.0
I would appreciate any advice on how to export it with maximum quality.  And please provide any necessary equipement needed to playback the video.
As of now, I will reproduce the video on an event a week of now, there I will be assigned a tv.
I would like to play the video at maximum resolution.  Lets assume the tv is 50" full hd.
Should I play back from an external usb hdd? or from the computer plugged via hdmi, or from a usb flash storage media?
Which codec should I use, I figure png lossless would produce such a large file that the tv/my pc would have trouble playing it.
I noticed that h.264 produces a larger file that mpeg 2.
Which codec should i use? should I download codecs from a third party?  please help.
Question number 2:  what equipement is needed to reproduce the video, a proyector? or a tv? a blueray player or reproduce from usb?  What if I wanted to reproduce the video on a 80" screen? what would i need? is a proyector higher quality than a tv?
    Any advice is welcome.

You will be fine with an H264 1080 Export
    Keep the Bit Rate High.
Is a proyector higher quality than a tv?
Can be .  Depends on the rez of the Projector.  ( Think digital Cinema projectors)

  • Creating postscript files for high res printing

I am having a lot of trouble between Adobe InDesign and Adobe Professional making a postscript file that I can send to a direct-to-plate rip. I can't get the halftone images to come out as halftones. All of the pictures come out solid. This NEVER happens when I print the file from Adobe Pagemaker and I use the same printer and printer drivers. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I really need a PS file. Here's the procedure: I create a newsletter in Adobe InDesign. I print to a booklet using a printer designated for creating direct-to-plate. It automatically generates a postscript file. What happens is that the file is created properly and I always check it through Adobe Acrobat Professional to be sure there are no errors. There is either something in the InDesign procedure or in the Adobe Distiller that converts the halftone files incorrectly. The type comes out okay, but anything with grayscale imaging or with screens comes out in solid black or white, no "dots" if you will. I don't know if I am explaining myself properly, but I am a commercial printer and I use this procedure to create the plate I use to print the job on my press.
Does this make any sense to you?

  • Looking for high res video & good audio on my TV, plus use VPN.  Is mac mini what I need?

I live where I need to use VPN for streaming of radio or services like Netflix.  Works fine on Apple devices, but would rather use my normal TV (reasonably good TV, HDMI hookups, etc.).  Tiring to always mirror from my daughter's iPad, and can only mirror inconsistently from my laptop.  I also want to access my own music library, but iTunes match doesn't seem to be the best fit.
Was thinking of getting a mac mini and using my TV as monitor + get wireless keyboard.  Does this seem like it would work?  Definitely have well under the limit of storage that the mini can hold.  I currently have Apple TV, which I love, but need more access to those things in my library when not using Apple TV.
Basically, I want to have what I have on my laptop, but in my living room with a better screen.
    Any and all advice appreciated.

  • How to keep high res when I create a pdf from Publisher doc

I created a pdf from a Publisher document, and the resolution is less than 300 dpi (about 500KB). The 1/2 page document is over 4MG as a Publisher document, so why did I lose resolution & what can I do to keep the resolution above 300?
I tried 3 different ways, "print," "press" and "print PowerPoint." Is it simply the fact I'm using the online trial?

    >Well, Aandi, I create the original images in Harvard Graphics and then print the HG file to a pdf using the Acrobat Distiller. The onscreen and printed graphic images in the pdf look pixelated along the edges--i.e., not as sharp as in the original.
Ok. Are these transparent graphics i.e. with ragged edges, or just
    rectangular graphics?
    >
    >When I called Customer Service/Sales to ask about v.9 allowing for higher res screen/print images, he checked with somebody and told me that the highest res. is 600 dpi.
I don't know why they said that. It's nonsense. Acrobat can store
images at very high resolution, though 600 dpi is considered an
enormous resolution, far higher than is needed for almost all
practical purposes. Do not confuse printer resolution with image
resolution: you don't try to match them together.
For example, a coffee table book with high quality pictures was
probably typeset on a 4000 dpi imagesetter, and the photos are
    probably around 300 dpi.
    >
    >I'm using v.5. I'm willing to upgrade if there is a reason to do so.
There are many possible reasons but higher resolutions isn't one of
them. What Distiller settings are you using for compression?

  • High res preview in iondesign cs5

    Hi Guys,
quick question, for some reason when selecting a image in indesign CS5 and ctrl click display performance, high quality nothing happens?
What are the default settings in the prefs so when I am working the graphics are medium res until I specifically ask for high res preview?
High Quality is pushed all the way up but the preview still looks pixelated?
    lister

There are two possibilities here. Perhaps the image is really low res at the size you are using it (waht doe the info panels say for effective resolution?), or maybe you don't have Allow Object Level Display Settings turned on.

  • Why does Illustrator CS 4 high res pdf ask for linked images?

I have saved high res pdfs (press quality) from Illustrator CS4 directly, and when I sent these pdfs to the printers, they ask me to supply them the linked images, otherwise they could not view the entire file completely. I thought the high res pdf setting would automatically embed images, could anyone please help me?? Our printers are waiting for explaination urgently and the images are very very large to be transferred overseas online. Thank you!!

If you made a PDF which is "print ready" there should be no issue, this is given that the printer informed you as to what "Print Ready" was by their workflow standards. The only time I would need to go back to a client for source files which were embedded into a PDF is if there were color mode issues (RGB image needed to convert to CMYK with certain profile) or if client PDF produced without required bleed. If you have exercised due diligence and the PDF is in fact "Print Ready" the printer may not be used to working with PDF files that are truly print ready. I have sent PDF files to printers who absolutely wanted to open the PDF in Illustrator and have all source/linked files because they were used to getting all end user files, not press ready PDF files. Once I spoke with the Prepress operator and let him know that I went through the PDF and made sure the file was exactly separated as it should print, and he should be able to send it straight to his RIP, then everything was fine.
Prepress people get used to dealing with designers who don't know how to do anything execpt make a moch up of what they want and print it out on their own ink jet printer. The actual file they send to the printer may need to be completely retooled in order to separate correctly for the printing process.

  • If i go to high res (720p or higher) my screen turns green and the video fast forwards to the end.

    Hi,
I have windows 7 64 bit and use mozila firefox 15.0.1
I have got the problem that when i select higher resolution in videos (such as on youtube) that at 480p it will run for a while but then just stops even though the buffering is already complete.
If i go to higher resolutions like 720p or 1080p the video will run for a while again but then the screen goes green and the movie fast forwards to the end preventing me to watch movies without problems at higher res.
If u want more information about my problems or know a solution pls tell me.
    Manny thanks,

  • Question on workflow for high end inkjet prints from InDesign CS4

Photographs are imaged in Photoshop using Adobe 1998 as a profile. These files are linked in InDesign. My question is how should I output the files from InDesign. I've tried "High Quality Print" saving the files as a PDF then parsing those files with Photoshop as high res files. But the files lack the quality in the original photoshop files.
My system in completely calibrated and I'm quite used to creating output for both offset printing (generally as per vendors instructions) as well us highend digital printing.
    Thanks ahead for your comments.

You need an ICC profile that defines the destination color space. In this case the high end ink jet.
This will be an RGB profile. You can use a factory profile corresponding to the printer model and paper (this would be part of the printer software install), or you can have a custom profile generated by reading a color target printed on the device. There are online services that can actually create the profile if you send them a print out. Follow their specific instructions if you choose to do this.
Once you have the print device ICC, check the Color Settings in ID. Make sure the RGB policy is "Preserve Embedded". As long as this was the setting at document creation, the image Adobe RGB profiles were honored.
To double check, look in the Links panel. Under ICC you should see Adobe RGB, not Document RGB.
You can also right or control click on an individual image. Go to Graphics: Image Color Settings. By profile it should say Adobe RGB, not Document RGB.
In the print dialog, Color Management, select Document radio button. Color Handling, Let InDesign Handle Colors. Printer Profile, select the Printer ICC. Do a small test print, then check the result to see if it's satisfactory.
