Hi Experts ,
Let me explain you my situation
i shall  be receiving a project where i ll have to gather requirement to configure the business process in MM and WM .
Please suggest me if there are any templates available in SAP with help of which i can perform the requirements gathering and perfect documentation ; cause i ll be working as a business analyst and a SAP MM WM consultant .
Do let me know if you can provide me with sample documentation or sample templates or links to the sites where i can get information on ..

The bestway to approch the business process study vai ASAP methodology of SAP.
you can read the documentation of this and this softwate also has all kind of templates for AS-IS study, TO-be, testing , functional spec etc.

  • Any tips at this Reporting requirement gathering stage?

    Hello Experts,
    I have 10 different sources of data which will mostly come to me in flat files.
    Some of the data coming to me for <b>UPDATE</b> will be
    1. daily,           (3 of the sources)
    2. weekly,       (2 of the sources) 
    3. monthly      (2 of the sources) 
    4. quarterly.   (2 of the sources)
    Some of the reporting requirements are <b>(GENERATE REPORTS)</b>:
    a) As needed i.e. on demand by managers
    b) Monthly
    c) Quarterly
    I am still in the report requirement gathering phase and I would like some hints here:
    Q1. What are the Dos and Don’ts?
    Q2. Does it matter whether the various sources are loaded into Cubes or ODSes? Which is the better choices and for what reasons?
    Q3. Any special guide on the frequency of Updates?
    Q4. Can the data elements from the 10 sources be all placed in say, 2 or 3 dimensions and within a single Cube?  Any advantages of this?
    Q5. Can each of the data elements from the 10 sources be placed in say, 10 different ODSes? Any advantages of this?

    Actually, I’d split the process into those stages:
    1.     gathering report forms that users want to have and a frequency of report generation.
    2.     collection information on available sources of data
    3.     analysis: do the sources will provide all data for forms required – simultaneously the list of reports that would be possible to create is made. Here you can take into account not only availability of resources, but also budget/time/work force limitation. It’ll determine the scope of implementation.
    4.     Conceptual model (with parallel excersises in BW).
    •     If some reports (and data in them) are completely different, don’t having common information, then consider creating separate data providers. 
    •     If some reports (and data in them) have something in common, then consider creating separate data providers with a multiprovider on them.
    •     If all data are linked to some key(s) (for example a document number), then consider creating a single cube
    •     Determine time granularity (are your weekly, monthly and quarterly data may be derived from the daily data? If yes, maybe these data (except daily) are redundant. If not, then probably these data supply some additional information to daily? – consider merging this additional info into daily cube (or probably through separate ODS or cubes).
    So, it’s a somewhat an answer to Q2 and Q5.
    Q3. You may load data just before (say a several days) the reports generation.
    Q4. See above about single cube. Additionally, the rule of thumb is to have more little dimensions than few huge dimensions. Consider spreading out your chars into different dimensions. If you’ll be able to have all data in a single cube, it would give you an enormous flexibility in building reports (especially, not mandatory ones, but ad-hoc reports on demand).

    Lets say we start from meeting with business , several workshops , etc
    Is business Blueprint the final phase of this process?
    Whats the difference between Business Blueprint and functional spec?

          Blueprint is the starting phase of the project. First there would be requirement gathering according to the client requirements. Then according to these requirements functional specs would be made. Based on these functional specs technical spec would me made and once approved from the client development would start.
    This is just an overview. Hope it helps.

    Does anyone have an example of the kinds of requirements that need to be gathered from a client in preparation for a large scale P2V migration during the requirements gathering phase?  For example,
    R101:  The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that have less than 50% average CPU utilization
    R102:  The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that are currently functioning as web servers
    What are some other potential requirements that pertain to a P2V migration plan?

    Thanks for your reply.  Capacity Planner can gather only technical data from the systems, but not requirements from the people themselves.

    Requirement gathering is required at this level.
    Please check out with client how do they want to see P/L statements in COPA? No of report need to be configured based on applications,business process changes required in cross application module based on new requirement etc.

    I am fresher in SAP FICO and would appreciate it if anyone explain the business requirements gathered by FICO consultant for FI-SD integration during Blueprint phase and workshops? I know that Sales would give requirements on number of GL accounts they need, but I am not sure what other aspects and challenges discussed for FI-SD integration?
    I am not getting any help/answers in ERP Financials forum. Detailed answers would be greatly appreciated.

    From a reporting perpective, what does the finance department need from BI to say that BI is a worthwhile investiment?
    Normally Financial reports needed for the customer will be P&L, Balance sheet, Cashflow statements and the AR, AP and also Controlling and the Turn over Ratios to know about the financial funding stage about their organization based on their functional requirements.
    ii. Does BI provide any of the answers provided in i. (above) through its business content objects? If so, can you discuss how BI provides each of the solutions? (I will apprecaite a discussion for the "finance team" and not neccessarily for the IT team)
    Better to talk to your FI CO team for this to understand better at ECC functional level to know what would be the best extractors that you can report on. BI content is already there for almost FI CO reports.

    iii. If all the requirements of a finance department are already available with a newly installed BI, then
    what are the typical functions of a BI consultant to a finance department? i.e. why will a finance department find the need to bring in a BI consutant to advise them on how best to use BW in their environment?
    Though the Finance team has every Extractor at ECC side its only BI consultant who has to work on Modeling , Extraction, Reporting Part for BEx Reports. You have to Map the Fields even though its BI Content some of the Customized objects like Routines, Formulas would be there for each and every project .
    iv. How does the above discussion pertain to CO. i.e. If your discussion above is strictly for FI, can you address i, ii, iii for CO?

    Please see below basic questions from requirement gathering point of view.
    Whether the Production process is Made-to-Order or Made-to-Stock and are there certain products manufactured Make to order and certain products manufacture made to stock.
    How their planning has been setup currently for each of the component that is part of BOM.
    How many manufacturing locations they have currently and how they are handling Raw Material Staging to the shop floor for Production.
    Components to be back flushed or they want to have separate goods issues for the components.
    How many operations they have for each of the product they manufacture.
    What are the activities they are using for product costing and where they have to be considered
    Is there any other manufacturing process other than regular production?
    How they are handling rework and scrap process currently.
    In how many stages they want Quality inspection to be activated and how it has to be mapped(like in process,final inspection etc)

  • Fillable Forms and Gathering responses

    I have created a form in Adobe lifecycle using nothing but subforms since I need expandable fields.  I use distribute but it is giving me the opition of emailing the form. I need to be able to post to form on our website and have people access the form for completion and when they hit submit the responses are sent to electronically.  Not sure how to do this.  I know I can't use Forms Central as if won't let me have the fields that expand based on the amount of text I put in.

    If you want help in creating a script to do what you want, then the Acrobat Scripting forum is the place to ask. If you wish to throw a large chunk of change at the problem, there are LiveCycle products that can probably do what you want. It will probably require tens of thousands of dollars, specialized IT staff and a Windows or Unix Server.

    Assuming there is a greenfield project starting up, and the scope of implementation is SAP HCM: Is there a SAP best practice for gathering technical and functional requirements and process definition for SAP HCM system (PY, Time, PA, OM, ESS/MSS) for Great Britain country? (process models, requirements templates, questionnaire, identifying requirement gaps from standard SAP process etc.?)
    Is there a methodology recommended on how to go about collecting and baselining these requirements? (workshops, schedule, resources, templates etc.)

    Hi,
    Well, you have almost done the required configurtion for cash management.  Cash management is about reports on cash position & liquidity forecast which is integrated with GL, AP, AR and as well as Treasury (Transaction Manager).  Once you have complemeted configuration you need to assign relevant planning levels and planning groups to GL, vendor, customer master data which will help you to pull reports on cash position & liquidity forecast. 
    Regarding treasury I suggest you to come up with your specific requirement to enable someone guide you precisely, though it is not possible to give all the detailed steps in this forum.  To throw more light on it, you are required to analise the client requirement on areas like, what kind of financial instruments they are dealing with (securities, money market, derivatives, loans, etc.) which can be integrated with cash management/liquidity forecast.  If you are talking about treasury & risk manager (transaction manager) the configuration is under FSCM (financial supply chain management) in ECC 6.0.  In previous versions it is part of CFM (Corporate Finance Management).

    SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer enables you to build user interfaces that access various applications. The application that Visual Composer creates can then be used by a workflow tool as a step in the overall business process. For example, I can create a Visual Composer application, then build a Guided Procedure that uses my VC application. In fact, in most of the TechEd sessions related to Guided Procedures, Visual Composer was used to build a component of the overall process built by Guided Procedures. The Guided Procedure handled the process, while Visual Composer handled the user interface and the call to the application that was being executed.
    So, it is not a tool to gather business requirements.
