Requirements management in SolMan

Hi Gurus,
Do we have the requirements management in SolMan? How can we define the requirements traceability matrix in SOLAR01?
Any of you worked with this functionality before?
We are comparing the tools - Requisite Pro & SolMan for this functionality. If SolMan can do this, we don't need to get Req Pro.
Please let me know your views/experiences.
Thanks
Kalyan

The way I've seen it is that requirements are described at different levels starting from the business scenario, process and process step node in the business blueprint.
These requirements are embedded as documents in the hierarchy using specific document types in SOLAR01.
These can then be included in testing to compare test scripts and results against requirements.Hope this helps.
Cheers
Ganesh

  • Quick help - Is SAPHOSTAGENT Mandatory for managing system (solman) ?

    Hi All,
Quick question, Is SAPHOSTAGENT Mandatory for managing system (solman) ?
No data in infocube OSMD_PE2D (JAVA MEMORY USAGE) and i'm trying to narrow down the problem. Therefore, i want to know is SAPHOSTAGENT Mandatory for managing system (solman) ?
    Thanks,
    Nicholas Chang

    Hi All,
I've figured out that DAA and SAPHOSTAGNET is needed for SOLMAN EHP1 SPS > 20 as the diagram depicted in AgentInstallation.pdf, from Note 1365123 - Installation of Diagnostics Agents.
and i've resolved the problem where data is populated in OSMD_PE2D and JAVA MEMORY USAGE data and etc is appearing in WA and EWA.
    Step performed:
    1) before rerun diagnostic system setup, ensure RFC for SELF_DEST for BW source system is working fine and importantly, all field should be empty in technical settings, logon & security and etc. Perform RFC and authorization check.
    2) rerun diagnostic system setup and ensure all result returned green, and check CCMSBI_SETUP_E2E log. Ensure it completed successfully. ( you need to adjust WEBADMIN & SOLMANDIAG RFC by putting in the gateway host and port to avoid intermittent RFC error, also enlarge RFC resource in table E2E resources)
    3) go to TX rstco_admin and ensure status is activation successful.
    4) follow sapnote 1259109 and upload the latest xml according to your solman version.
    5) Install object accordingly by following note 1342231 & 1110013 (the note specify the bugs happen in SPs18, whilst my solman version is EHP1 SPs27 and i was reluctant to apply at the first place. But upon checking, most of the objects mentioning in the note that required installed are not installed!)
    6) Rerun managed system setup
    7) Check infocube OSMD_PE2D after 1 hour or 1 day?? unsure as i checked after one day.
    Cheers,
    Thanks,
    Nicholas Chang.

  • DMS and cFolders for requirements management

    Hello SAP Gurus
Iam suggesting SAP DMS and cFolders for requirements management for an Automobile OEM client.
The requirements documents consist of software, hardware, mechanical etc...
Did any of you implement these modules for a similar scenario?
I want to know the expert feedback in this scenario.
    Regards
    Prasad K

    Hi Prasad,
Given the way i understand 'Requirements Management', it's a holistic approach which includes identification, documentation, analysis, prioritization and agreement on requirements and then controlling the changes and communicating it to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
This is an ongoing process throughout a project.
In  this perspective, DMS(for handling documentation),c-folders(collaboration,communication wrt ERP objects like docs,BoM et-al),c-projects(colloborative pjt mgmt) and ECM(managing changes) would be an ideal proposition to handle requirements management in Automitive sector effectively. You may explore other solutions for a finer degree of control.

  • Requirements management Apex application

    Hello Everyone,
I am interested if anyone has developed a basic requirements management tracking app. in Apex? If so would you share, if not does anyone know of one that is free?
I am starting work on a very small project, but it would be nice to have an application that could capture requirements and maybe tie them to tasks or documents.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Kyle

    Thanks Vikas for the suggestion.
Actually I have been modifying the Issue Tracker sample db for a while now, hmmm.... never really looked at it to capture project requirements though.
Well, I guess it's time for creative re-thinking and some minor tweaking of that db.
    Thanks again

  • How many SLD's require for 2 solman system requirements?

    Scenario1:
One solman system for entire landscape->One SLD is required.
Is this SLD should be a seperate system or can be within solman?
    Scenario2:
One solman system for DEV/QAS and other solman system for PRD.
How many SLDs are required? Can we manage with single SLD?
If two SLDs, Then both should be seperate systems. i.e, One SLD -> DEV/QAS Solman, Another SLD ->PRD Solman.
If only one SLD, Then it should be seperate system or can be within solman?
We do have EP in client enviroinment. Can we use SLD of EP?

    Hi,
you can use one SLD for all your systems if you want. You can either use an existing one or the one which comes with Sol Man. That's up to you.
    Any scenario is possible.
    /cheers

  • Does two seperate client required if the solman monitors DEV and QAS system

    Hi All,
    This is our client landscape:
1 Dev-SolMan->For all development and quality systems(ECC 6.0, BI and EP).
    1 PRD-SolMan->For all production systems(ECC 6.0, BI and EP).
Note: We have build only DEV-SolMan system as of now and we haven't done any configuration yet like either service desk or ChaRm.
    The question is:
Do we need to have two seperate clients in DEV-Solman, one for all development systems and one for all quality systems? or Can we have a single client in DEV-Solman to handle all development and quality systems? What is the  SAP recommented approach?
    Thanks
    Sanjai

    Hi,
you even don't need separate Solution Manager systems to monitor DEV / QA and Prod. You could use one SolMan client to monitor and administrate all systems / clients.
Maybe it would be a good idea to create different Solution Landscapes, but this depends on your need.
Separate clients are no good option, because CHARM can only activated in on client. Also if you plan to activate charm, you need a solution that contains all systems in your transport landscape (DEV, QAnad Prod).
    Kind Regards,
    Holger

  • Blog Permission requires 'Manage List' level just to edit a post

    SharePoint 2013
I'm posting this is a few flavors all over the internet because I'm not getting any responses. Basically I feel their is a bug in that a user that has contribute permissions can not edit a blog post because the "edit" menu option does not show.
To reproduce, you just need to log into a blog with Contribute rights only which gives you the ability to edit a item, but DOES not give you the ability to manage the actual list. You will see that the Edit menu does not show in neither the summary page
or the Post page when looking at a specific post.
You can however manually change the URL to the EditPost.aspx page and it will let you edit. It is as if the "Edit Menu" is linked to the "Manage List" permission instead of the "Edit Items" permission.
Standard users should be able to create post, edit post, but not change the settings of the entire Blog Post library!

Danny.. sincerely thank you for trying to help. This is very frustrating.
So to make sure the problem is not something I caused, I've been doing all this on a clean Win 2008 R2 Virtual Machine. I then perform nothing special and simply do the following:
    1) Install SharePoint Foundation 2013 - Stand Alone (although this problem also exists in my Domain Farm as well as my trial version of Office 2013). As part of the install, I do install the required March CU (KB2768000) but no other SharePoint\Office
    patches.
    2) With no other changes but the fresh install, I open Central Admin  --> Create Site Collections --> myBlog (via the Blog Template)
    3) I then go to {/sites/myBlog} --> Site Settings --> Site Permissions. I then add the following test accounts as such....
myBlog Owners (Full Control) <-- SPOwner
       myBlog Members (Contribute) <-- SPMember
       myBlog Visitors (Read) <-- SPVisitor
    4) Verify (which is the default) that Site Settings --> Site Libraries and List --> Customize Posts --> Advanced Settings --> Create and Edit Access = "Create and edit all items"
... Now I sign in as each of the 'test accounts' and the results are as follows.
spOwner = Home page DOES show the Edit link next to the "email a link" option for the "Welcome" Blog Post.
spMember = Home page does NOT show the Edit link next to the "email a link" option for the "Welcome" Blog Post.
spVisitor = Home page does NOT show the Edit link next to the "email a link" option for the "Welcome" Blog Post.
... Now if I add the "Edit Permission" to the Members and Visitors group the Edit link DOES show. However, for both accounts (SPMember & SPVisitor), I can now do the following...
COG --> Site Settings --> Site Libraries and Lists --> Customize Post --> Versioning Settings --> Require content Approval = Yes.
    As a Visitor (now with Edit Rights) I was even able to COG --> Add an App --> {take your pick}
    How scary is that ?!?!?!

  • Auto License Management in solman causing Issues

    Hi Team,
I was trying to schedule auto-license ON in solman.
    I have scheduled everything :
As a result of this :
The maintenance licenses were able to reach from service market place to solman.
Although the satellite system license going to expire within 30 days (yellow status) still the new one there in solman is not getting applied to satellite system.
    FYI:
Satellite system    Maintenance license status   Received License
    SID                                      Yellow                          Green
I have checked SDCCN maintenance task : there also I couldn't see any errors.
Let me know what is the job that applies this license in target system
    Regards

    Hello Sandy,
please check note 1533350 - Information on Maintenance Certificates and License Management Workcenter in Solution Manager.

  • Continuous change management with SolMan?

    Hello,
I wonder wether it is possible do run a continuous change management with Solution Manager for all changes I want to implement in a System?
What I need is a solution to manage all the common change requests and not only for single projects.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance
    Bye

yes it is possible across the project using Quality Gate management in EHP1 version
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/a9/0473a0d3f74adcaa6c6b4be7635867/frameset.htm
Quality Gate Management gives you an overview of the status of the software distribution of your projects. It gives an integrated and consistent overview of the implementation of changes to your SAP software solution, for all operational units of the various organizations in a company. This increases the transparency of the software change process.
Quality Gate Management combines different software developments in one logical structure. These developments are in turn collected in projects. You can organize and monitor the distribution of software by projects and their changes.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/a9/0473a0d3f74adcaa6c6b4be7635867/frameset.htm
The prerequisites for setting-up quality gate management are:
    Assign quality gate management roles
Configure the system landscape in the Transport Management System (TMS)
Create a project in the Project Administration and enter required data in Quality Gate Management.
    also check this note
Note 1256490 - General note for Quality Gate Management (QGM)
    Hope it solves ur doubt

  • Read-only filesystem required management...

I have had a netbook with Arch Linux on it, and have used it at school and home without problems. This morning at home, I rebooted when I meant to poweroff. So I used the button to poweroff while it was booting back up.
At school, when I turned it on, I was told to enter the root password, so that I could manage/fix my file-system. It also told me my file-system was read-only, and I had to remount it. I rebooted my computer numerously through the day, but kept getting the same thing. [I'm too much of a newb to fix something like this without the internet.]
Now, when I just got home to get to fixing it, it worked/booted up fine (albeit with a forced file-system check). So, there's no real problem, I'm just concerned. I'm supposing this happened because I did a hard power off at a bad time?

If you have some time, read up on the linux boot process.
I will give a brief explanation, however I can't guarantee that the explanation is 100% correct. As you likely know the first step in the boot process is having the mbr load (grub) and then loading the kernel from a hard drive, flash drive, etc... Once the kernel loads the kernel needs to mount the root file system. The option 'ro' in grub.conf tells the kernel to mount the root file-system as read-only. Once this is done the boot process continues and then later on will remount root and mount your other filesystems as it is configured in etc fstab.
It is hard to say what was wrong with your system has you didn't provide any of the errors. Likely the fs had errors on it and it was having a hard time remount as rw.
If I was in your shoes I would have entered the root password and ran a fsck on the disk in question.
Hope this helps clarify things a bit.

the Java process is having a communication issue with the ABAP stack. First 3 things I would look at:
    1. is the ABAP stack up and running? The Java stack is checking for a user installed in the ABAP stack.
    2. is sapgw00 service defined in the services file? should have been done by the installation, but I've seen this fail.
    3. is host ISLLSOLM listening on the port defined as sapgw00? If this is not true, any number of things could be wrong.

  • SolMan and CMMI Configuration Management

    Hi
We are looking into implementing CMMI level 3 in our organisation.
One of the main points is to use SolMan for Configuration Management which seems obvious.
Does any of you "out there" have any experiences and answers/ideas to the following topics:
    - which CI's have you identified?
    - how are versions of the CI's managed?
    - how are you managing baselines and is there any demand for a baseline "rollback" in CMMI?
And how are you handling Requirements Management and Requirements Development in SAP Solution Manager? Especially the bidirectional traceability
Have you found any litterature on the subject?
Thanks in advance - all help is welcome
    Peter

I don't have a good answer to your question, but chose to reply because I'm also in search of Architectural and Operational standards and practices for WLS. Everything I see in terms of Oracle and 3rd party documentation, including the product itself, seems geared toward the developers and optimized for for their needs and desires. Precious little advice in terms of best practices for deploying and hosting production services on this platform. I'm just a lowly SA and need things explained like I'm retarded.
Obviously common sense will have to end up addressing most of this, but why must we re-invent the wheel?
FWIW in regards to your question, we don't rebuild our environments from scratch at every deployment. We don't even delete configurations and components at deployment. (Although I've heard that's a recommended practice, I never get a straight answer for "why?" From this I'm left to conclude that; what, WLS is unreliable, unstable? Until I hear a good reason why I should be deleting everything all the time I'll stick with my instincts.) As for configuration management, we're stuck in the stone age I'm afraid; although high on my list is to start reverse-engineering our prod config into scripted form so we can do just what you're explaining.
At deployment, for every object we check for it, add it if it's missing, and re-set the configs. For all application deployments we undeploy/redeploy. All in WLST scripts that live in our version repo, natch. We could be doing it totally wrong, but it works so there's little impetus to change it. We're also handling an OSB deployment in a similar fashion, but that's done with a heavily modified-for-portability import.py script w/ ant.
