Requirements SP5 in XI R2

Hello
Is it necessary to install SP3 and 4 before installing SP5 from XI R2?
Thanks

Hi,
according to the documentation Service Pack 5 for XI R2 can be directly installed on top of Service Pack 2 ie. installing Service Pack 3 and/or Service Pack 4 is NOT necessary.

  • Updating BO 3.1 to BO 3.1 SP??

I've a system which is on 3.1 and it should be upgraded to work with Win7, so SP3 is minimum to go for.
Question is, should we upgrade to SP3 or to SP7 or something else? (BO4.x is no option at the moment, but will probably be on next year)
Secound Questions is, how should the upgrade be done, I've read SP7 requires SP5 or 6 to be installed and I think this will continue.
Is it better to install SP7 directly on a new machine and migrate all content or is patching a fast, save way to do this?
    Any suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks in advance!
    Jens

    Hi Jens,
BOE XI 3.1 SP3 is quite an old version at this stage.
If your current 3.1 environment is not old (i.e not too many objects in the repository OR if you have another server ready to build on you can consider a fresh installation at a higher full build) and migrate.
If this is a live environment then an upgrade is recommended.
The only difference between the 2 is that you'll be saving time by not having to do a migration of objects if you upgrade your existing server.
For XI 3.1, we can jump 1 SP at max while upgrading.
    For example: SP3 -> SP5  OK... SP3 -> SP6 NOT ok.
If you upgrade to a higher patch (SP5 or above), it will be beneficial since most of the bugs / issues occurring in the past would be fixed here.
The patch level to upgrade to would need to be decided based on the issues you're facing here (if any) and what patch they're fixed in.
If you're simply going to a higher patch for Windows7 supportability, then would recommend SP5 or above.
    Hope this helps

  • Required SCA files NWDI on CE71 SP5

    Hi,
I installed CE 7.1 SP5, i want to install the NWDI on this , Normally for NW04s we need DI_DTR,DI_CBS,DI_CMS and DI_BUILDT SCA's for setting NWDI. But i was not able to find these SCA files for CE71 SP5. I found only  BUILDT SCA file for CE71 SP5 but not others. Can some one point me to the location where i can download these SCA's to set up NWDI on CE71 server and also if any documentation to set up nwdi on ce71,I think it should be same as on nw04s.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can't to install NWDI on NetWeaver CE 7.1, it will available on CE EHP1, for now you can use NWDI on NW 7.0 (2004 S). See this document to setup your environment to CE.

  • Netware 6.0 SP5 Apache/Tomcat

I am setting up a New install Netware 6.0 server and have netware all patched up with sp5, & BM 3.7 patched up. This server will not be located in my office so I wanted to try to get the web app side up to date. I want to use Imanager to remotely check the health etc... I know this is an older version of Netware but this is a temporary replacement server and we should only be using this server for a year or 18 months max and we will no longer have a need for it. I say all that to ask how to upgrade Apache & Tomcat so I manager will work. I have EDIR 8.7.3 and the Novell JVM is at 1.4.2.04. The additional requirements for Imanager 2.01 are Tomcat 3.3, Tomcat 4 and Apache 1.3. Currently the server has Tomcat 3.3 installed and Apache 1.03. I can find a TID (10071533) on upgrading Tomcat 3.3 to Tomcat 4 on Netware 6.0 but cannot find the install file "Tomcat4.04b2", or any other variant. So do I need to get a newer version or what? I also need to update the Apache and cannot seem to find the correct files for that either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Certainly with Apache it's a case of extracting the NLMs from the
archive and then copying over the old ones.
    Personally I
    * download the update
    * extract to a directory on my local machine
    * rename the configuration files in the local copy to prevent actual
configuration files on server being overwritten
    * make a copy of sys:\apache or sys:\apache2 (depending on which I'm
    updating)
    * copy the local copy over to the server, overwriting existing files
(remember we've just renamed the config files)
    * restart Apache
    Hope this helps.

  • BO XI R2 to BI 4.1 SP5 Migration

    Hi All,
We are in the process of upgrading our BI environment. Last time, we tried the migration with below options - but it failed after 22 hours.
    -> Complete Migration
    -> Live-to-Live
    Source System:
    BO XI R2 SP2
    No. of Universes: ~150
No. of Reports : ~28000 (Webi + Deski reports)
    File Store : 55 GB
    Target System:
    BI 4.1 SP5 (New server)
When we analyzed the repository data, out of 28000 objects we have only 8000 reports (Public Folders + User Favouries) - it looks like rest of them are like instances. So, appreciate if you provide your recommendations/suggestions on the below points
    1. We don't want to migrate the instances to Target system. Can we go with incremental migration option (Live-to-Live), by excluding the 'Instances' in the 'Options' or any other settings required in UMT?
    2. If we want to exclude User Favourites' (wants to migrate in before going live), can we unselect the 'User Favourites' folder in UMT or do we need to select any other options?
    3. Our users only refresh their reports during working hours - only IT team can create any new reports. In this case - is it recommended to do this Live-to-Live migration during working hours (i.e) when source system is active? This is important because getting longer downtime of source system (BO XI R2) in our organization is very difficult because of business criticality.
Appreciate your response on the above queries as it will be really helpful for us to plan accordingly.
    Thanks in advance
    regards,
    Syed Basheer

    Hi,
Go through the link UMT Incremental Upgrade Approach for large environment?
Also, migration of full content is possible and can be done during non working hours, if the UMT is set correctly and the RAM is good enough to accommodate the transfer. Make sure you have ample Temp directory ( 2 x FRS size )
Instances can be unchecked only in case of incremental update. However users may want some historical data. In this case you can limit the instances in the XI R2 system.
User favourites and inboxes are crucial. They should be migrated along with security, if not done properly, they might loose the security context and get either no privileges or complete access.
It is recommended to do the migration activity during downtime. Live access ( any access ) to the system can cause repository access and can lead to failure of obects being updated to the target system.
I did a complete migration recently with almost same amount of data mentioned. It took UMT 12 hours.

  • Require() can't find file

Very very weird indeed. In my php.ini, I added my "include" directory to
the "include_path" setting. However, I keep getting errors stating that
they can't find the file. I've doubled check, re-checked, triple checked,
had other people check to make sure I'm not stupid or going crazy, but the
path I typed in is correct. The file is there. I've even tried giving
PUBLIC and ROOT rights to the directory and the error still shows. I'm
going insane. I have no idea why, any ideas?
    Running PHP5 on NW6.5 Sp5. Apache2.
    Error messages look like this:

  • 128 bit encryption requirement not working

Using S1 6.0 sp5 on solaris 8, connecting to WAS 4.5 application servers.
The require 128 bit encryption setting is in obj.conf with an error page to serve if lower than 128 bit encryption is used.
This works fine for all plain text html requests, however, when a request goes to the websphere application the encryption requirement is ignored.
Has anyone seen anything of this nature before?

I'm not using SiteMinder or weblogic, my suggestion was based on your problem description. If you can show us your obj.conf file, we can check and try to find out a solution. You are right, AuthTrans will come before PathCheck but this should still allow PathCheck stage functions to be processed when the request processing goes through the pathcheck stage....I don't know how SiteMinder implements the SAF though.
    Thanks

  • Requesting links for Weblogic Server 8.1 (sp5) binaries for all platforms.

This might seem like a brazen request, but could someone provide me a link for Weblogic 8.1 (sp5) binaries. . .It seems unreasonable to spend $2,000 just to download a product version no longer supported by Oracle. The fact of the matter is that my client and my client's third-party staging server deploys their application in Weblogic 8.1 (sp5); believe me, if I had the authority and range of control to update my client's staging server and production server I would.

Ok, I found a majority of Weblogic's 8.1 (sp6) links. . .do you think developing on sp6 and deploying to sp5 will cause some issues? I'm supposing it won't and while the client has yet to deliver the application, the app server, documentation, or any other required materials, I'd at least like to get an environment that is compliant with their staging server's environment before-hand.

If anyone thinks that I will need to acquire a license for running (a sanboxed) version of Weblogic please let me know so I can inform my employer accordingly.

If MQ V5 clients cannot interoperate with MQ V7 servers, then perhaps MQ V6 clients support the 1.4 JVM? If so, I suppose you can use an MQ V6 client to communicate with V7.
Alternatively, perhaps MQ's "extended transactional client" provides more flexibility in interoperability than the client you're using.

One way to get a substantial boost in reliability is to switch

driver in particular. Well, we are on 9i here and we have lots of CLOB and BLOB
operations. Understood. The latest should work. (How comfortable does that make you ;) )
It is a sad choice we used to have to make between
faster-but-buggy homicidal old OCI code (wherein a bug in one
module can cause a segfault in an innocent unrelated module's
execution, and bring down a whole JVM) and the reliability of
Java. Fortunately, the future is at hand. The future is at hand? I do believe you are starting to sound a
bit like an evangelist. :-)Yep. Back in '96 when we wrote and marketed all the first JDBC drivers
for MS SQLServer, Oracle, Informix and Sybase, we did it solely
so enable our application server to be able to do real work. We were all
absolutely sure the driver market would dry up in 6 months as all the
DBMS vendors made excellent free type-4 drivers. We were over-optimistic.
Sybase's driver still requires you to install non-standard tables and
procedures in the DBMS. Oracle drivers are sloutching toward sufficiency,
but their first GA driver had a hard-wired value of READ_UNCOMMITTED
for getTransactionIsolation, and if you tried setTransactionIsolation
of either READ_COMMITTED or SERIALIZABLE, the driver would throw an
exception! We actually had a weblogic workaround to intercept this
jdbc call and send the "ALTER SESSION " to do what the customer wanted!
At the same time we had a major struggle to get Oracle to admit that
in spite of their documentation, OCI was not threadsafe (killing our
OCI-based driver in weblogic applications) until 7.1.4 on solaris
and NT, and 8.0.5 on other platforms. Did you know they had separate
codelines for OCI on each platform? For a while each platform's OCI
had a different hard-wired limit of the number of simultaneous connections
on client could have? For a while that limited what our application server
could do. OCI was written for simple teller-like client applications.
The new thin drivers take on more of the possible client-side
processing, and can do RAC failover etc. JoeOh well. I for one am a bit skeptical that Oracle is going to
fix java driver bugs before OCI bugs and I don't have any reason
to commit to any "platform independent" solution like java's thin
driver. We are completely based on Oracle here and we have a
J2EE solution for the app just cause we had to choose something.
If thin is better, than we will go with that. The last highest-level talks I had with Oracle folks they indicated that
they wanted everyone to go thin. OCI was a headache for them. Their
OCI code was undocumented and all the original experts had left the company.
That was in 2000 or so, so it is likely better now. They may well have
invested a lot of reverse-documentation by now.
One of the benefits of Java is the reliability. I think you'll
ultimately be happier with the thin. We do want you successful.

  • Why does the Measurement Studio C Tutorial require a SHSQL.DLL?

Running the Measurement Studio C++ Tutorial the first time, I get a "requires SHSQL.DLL" error message on execution. I'm under NT 4.0, SP6. Visual Studio 6, SP5. Looking at the Microsoft site, they say SHSQL.DLL is a symbol handler for SQL. Why would a graphical control of a sine wave generator require SQL code at all? And if its truly required, where do I obtain this file?

This DLL must be required by MFC projects and should be installed with Visual Studio. I have no idea why you don't have it on your system, but it should be in the Visual Studio folder under Common\MSDev98\Bin. I attached my copy to this message (I'm using WinXP), but if that DLL is missing there is likely other missing files and issues. I would recommend reinstalling Visual Studio.

  • Spend Performance Management 2.1 SP5 on BW7 EHP1 Patch 6

    Hi All
The note 1520113 states the following:
    Recommended Pre-Requisites:
    - NW 7.0 SP 21; BW/BI SP 23; BI CONTENT 704 SP5
    or
    - EhP1 for NW 7.0 SP 7; BW/BI SP 7; BI CONTENT 704 SP5
    Our client is using BW7 EHP1, SP6.
Given that the note states that these are "recommended" rather than "requirements", what comments might you have surrounding the use of SPM2.1SP5 on EHP1 SP6 instead of SP7?
Obviously the ideal would be for them to update, but as we all know this is easier said than done...
Rajesh and Rohit, many thanks for your ongoing help and prompt responses.
    Kind regards,
    Neil

    Hi Neil
The recommended levels are just what you stated, recommended. That means that we have tested with those levels. If there are any bug fixes that have comein as part of a particular SP then yiou would need to make sure that those bugfixes are also available as independent notes that you could apply on the side on top of your own SP level.
So to answer your question, you could go lower, but you would need to verify that all fixes in the recommended SP can be brought in (individually as notes) in your lower SP.
For the 2.1 release, for BI content, the recommended is actually 704 SP7. But the minimum required is 704 SP5. If you are not going to go with SP07 then there would be a need to apply manual content corrections explained in the note 1410526.
    Hope that answers!

  • JCo Nullpointer ISA4.0 SP5

    Hi,
i try to establish a Custom JCo-Connection in Internet Sales 4.0 SP5 PI (WebShop).
I always get a NullPointerException when calling the method:
    <b>getDefaultJCoConnection()</b>
    (from BackendBusinessObjectBaseSAP)
I guess, it tries to get a reference to the properties from config-data.xml in an non-existing Map.
I'am using Standard JCo-Calls as workaround at the moment and they work perfectly. So i assume they problem is with the configuration.
    Any ideas?

    hi,
The getJcoConnection() methid works only in the Impl Classes. I hope you have written the code in that.
If we try to get the DEfault JCo Connection then it won't work as it requires to follow the Struts Architecture.
Let me know if you need further help
I have done that in ISA3.1 - but i feel that it should be the same

  • Undeploying EARs from Netweaver 7.1 SP5

    Hi there,
We are running into troubles here because we need to deploy an ear that was already deployed in the application server. Is there a (simple) was to completely undeploy an EAR in Netweaver 7.1 SP5.
I come from a Glassfish/Jboss world where undeploying an app requires one click or simply deleting the ear from the auto-deploy folder and I'm sure such a feature exists in Netweaver 7.1 SP5.
I checked the thread how do you deploy and undeploy a J2EE application to web App server but that does not really help since it talks about an older version of NW.
Thanks a whole lot for your kind help,
    Dom

    Hi Marcel,
Thanks for your reply however, this folder does not seem to exist anymore in Netweaver 7.1.
I found a way to undeploy my applications using the admin console:
    1) Log onto the physical machine holding the AS.
    2) Navigate to: C:\usr\sap\SP5\J00\j2ee\console (or replace C: by anywhere you installed you stuff).
    3) Double click on the guiconsole.bat
    5) Now login with the credentials that you use for accessing the AS (e.g. Administrator, s... in the case of KA).
    6) With "man" you get a summary of all functionalities.
    7) Using LIST_APP you can list the apps deployed on the server.
    8) Use UNDEPLOY name=FULL_APP_NAME (e.g. SII_application_service_catalog).
    9) Wait a while and check using LIST_APP again to see whether it was undeployed.
Hope that helps the next ones,
    Dom

  • Java Web App for EP5 SP5

    Hi
Recently I developed a Java web app for a Portal client.  The client is on EP5 SP5 with ITS and LDAP servers (a 3 server architecture).  I then used the deployment tool to create the necessary ear file and then successfully deployed it to the SAP J2EE Engine.  I then navigated to the following url:
    http://<portal_server>:8100/<web_app>/welcome.jsp
However I am having trouble with the following:
    1) the jsp pages are not being rendered properly.  in fact welcome.jsp does not have any jsp tags at all but I am still getting a compiling exception.  as soon as I change the extension to .html the page is displayed fine.  issue: why am i not able to view the jsp pages.  error: com.inqmy.services.servlets_jsp.jsp.CompilingException ID 17013
    2) the web app I have developed utilises the sapjco functionality to connect to the relevant R3 system.  in my web app directory structure I have included the necessary sapjco.jar in the WEB-INF/lib directory but get the attached jco error. (I shouldnt need to set the classpath since the sapjaco.jar file must get picked up from WEB-INF/lib directory).  Error: At times I get a NoClassDefFoundError stopping at the line which requires the sapjco.jar file (where it uses JCo.Pool class) and at other times I get the "could not load middleware layer".
I have tried numerous things to fix it but in vain.  Any thoughts around how I could go about resolving the issues will be greatly appreciated.
Willing to provide screenshots if required.
    Cheers
    Ankit

    Hi Alon
Thanks a lot for the info!!
I have read the doco you asked me to have a look at and it sounds reasonable.  But the question that I have is that is it possible to successfully include the relevant jar's in the application's WEB-INF\lib folder?? I ask this since I would expect the SAP j2ee class loader to look at the required jar's in the WEB-INF\lib folder?!? (Also the section on "Adding a Reference from a Deployed Application to a Service or Library" talks about an app that may want to use resources from OUTSIDE the application EAR.)
So if I use any jar's such as sapjco, xerces, activation and mail I will need to add them to the library.txt if they are not already there (which they should be since the portal uses them) and then add the reference in reference.txt.
    Your thoughts will be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ankit
