hi, would i need a copy of drivers for this machine to install open suse 10.3,or will this operating system be able to auto detect the drivers needed?

Hi Ellie, I Have tried quite a few Linux Distros on my 3000 N200 and If memory serves Opensuse is one that doesn't quite get it all right on install. I remember having probs with my wifi card and sound drivers also not sure if the SD card reader is installed as I didn't test it at the time.
Personally best results were a debian based distro such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint. Only things that didn't work were sound (which I posted a fix for here: http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=Special_Interest_Linux&thread.id=316) and the fingerprint reader - which doesn't have many applications to tie to it in Linux at the moment.
Additionally if you follow the Linux route you will need to install drivers for your Graphics card if it's a 7300go and you want 3d acceleration, this can be done using the restricted driver install from the admin menu (possibly Yast in Suse If memory serves), or by installing a program called EnvyNG which makes it all easy-peasy.

Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:

Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Oracle 10g Express edition on Open Suse 10.2 mahine Insatllation vows !

The Installation Oracle 10g Express edition on Open Suse 10.2 mahine,
requried the installation of libaio... i installed the package by smart ....
after that installation was fine...
but when i try to login :
following exception occurs :
oracleXE: error while loading shared libraries: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I reinstalled oracle and libaio but result was same .. ..
"rpm -q libaio" prints "libaio-0.3.104-32"
I tried to install Oracle libaio package .. i downlaoded it from Oracle web site...
but it gave following exception :

Has a $ sign in excess.
This is a very frequently seen error, and the help displayed by the installer should be enough to understand what is going on. On the other hand I assume you are either working on a character mode console by means of either the su command or by means of a remote shell session. Unless you are able to launch an Xclient by means of the oracle user, there is no way this can work.

Ok, Below is what worked for me somewhat.
Okay ... try downloading and saving a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe to your PC from the Apple website:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now download a trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/download.php
Open the iTunesSetup.exe with WinRAR, and try to run the standalone install of Apple Application Support from the AppleApplicationSupport.msi you find in there.
It works now BUT there are still problems. It is not allowing or recognizing my Cd/DVD player and i CANT burn. Looking still for this fix.

Unable to Start Oracle HTTP_Server on Open Suse 10 SP3

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 on Open Suse 10 SP3 and the install is fine until when it comes to starting HTTP_Server it fails and in the log it says:

Oracle Application Server was installed on another Open Suse 10 server by another colleague who has now left the company.

128 MB RAM will be enough but it will probably get pretty slow if you open Word and the Internet Explorer while working on the DB. So, personally, I would rather recommand 512 MB.

Port VMWare Open Suse image to Hyperv

I am in the process of restructuring our small MIS department. In the past there was an over emphasis on Linux servers (physical & virtual) and VMWare. Support for these servers have cost us much in time, money, and resources.
While I would like to eliminate the physical Linux servers from our environment, the problem I have is that two of our important business applications run on separate Open Suse machines (physical) running VMWare virtual machines running Open Suse OS. These applications will be replaced with Widows based products in about 8 months.
Until thin, is there a conversion process for VMWare images, that will enable me to port the VMWare machines to the Hyperv server, thus eliminating the physical machines? If so please direct me to where I might obtain the tools/documented processes for this migration.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.

Users Required to Install X-fonts

When some of users open their form, they are being told some fonts are missing. When they click the link to install the missing fonts it is prompting them to install Japanese x-fonts. We don't have any Japanese chatacters included and would rather our users not be required to install anything. Is it possible to either embed those fonts or remove them? If they don't run the install - the form is blank.

OK - I found the culprit. Do you remember how you created the field "Employer Identification Number (EIN)"? That is the field that creates the Japanese font and there is more funny about that field I am going to look into.
I see a few other oddities in your form, did you do some editing of the order of the columns in the table on the View Responses tab? They are out of order and there are columns there for fields that don't exist in your form...
I fixed your form, and if it is the same field in other forms you can fix those by creating another text field above/below the existing "Employer Identification Number (EIN)" field, copy the label text into the label and the help text into the help text of the new field, next mark the new field Required. Before deleting the old/bad field, assuming you do want the associated responses, go to the View Responses tab and copy/paste the contents of the cells from the old field into the ones for the new field.
Let me know if you would like me to fix your other forms, also if you have any recollection of how that field was created.
